PDR Overruns - Mystery Bundles

PDR Overruns are like a box of chocolates...

When you produce as many cigars as the Pinar Del Rio factory in the Dominican Republic, you're bound to roll a few too many every now and then. When Abe Flores has overstock at PDR, he likes to give back to the customer. Introducing the PDR Overruns Mystery Bundles, a high-end yet very inexpensive offering for those who can honestly say they love all cigars.

We don't oder these based on blend or wrapper, just size. That means that you order a bundle of your favorite size, and we send you a bundle with one of a few different wrapper & blend options. We can't say which is which, or even what kind of tobacco you'll be receiving, but what we can say is that these were made with the utmost quality and are brimming with delicious flavors that the average cigar fan is sure to love. The best part? We slashed the prices to the bone, making these one of the cheapest options ever for top-notch quality.

Lucked out on the mystery bundle
These are the mystery bundles, and as far as I can tell, I got the 1878 Capa Sun Grown Reserva Dominican. Very good cigar, and at less than half the price.

Piñata del rio over runs
Nice cigar but did not burn evenly

Wow!
I've smoked half this bundle already with my brother, and we both can't believe how good these are, especially for the price! If you're looking for a good cigar to always full out your humidor, this is it. I always make sure to season my new cigars in the humidor for a minimum of two weeks before smoking. These were kept at least two months while I sampled other selections in my stash. When we got around to these, we were very satisfied... Especially for the price! Keep them coming; I'll keep buying!

Yuck
HORRIBLE. Very dry and horrible tasting

Quite the bargain!
I really did like the Pinar del Rio Overruns toro. Have enjoy their flavor, construction, and consistency (at least for the ones I have had so far). I do suggest you take your time with these. While they may be "cheaper" than their non-overrun siblings - they are worth the time to stop/sit/enjoy them. They lean med-full strength, so be aware. Excellent with a good scotch or a very nice rye. Definitely will be in the rotation in my humidor.

Not bad. But not good
Can't win 'em all
5 out of 5
The cigars had a nice smooth flavor. They burned decent and lasted a decent amount of time. They had a very earthy dark taste.
They take a while to light due to the ends being wrapped but other than that, they smoke well.
5 out of 5
The best I've gotten.
I've ordered PDR Overruns before and never got a bad batch. Some better than others. One order had green spots on the wrapper but burned and tasted just fine. I don't know which PD Rs I got this time but they are the best I've had. Almost jet black oily wrapper, razor sharp burn, easy draw with loads of smoke. Not to mention the full flavor and nicotine spank I like. If I knew this stick was what I would get every time it would be all I ever ordered. Very satisfied!

Okay, but
A few of them have hard spots that don't burn very well, but are better than the last cigars I got from you that just did't want to cut without tearing.

Great everyday smoke I keep my humidor stocked with these.

Delicious
They have a consistent Dominican spiciness throughout the whole cigar, very good for the money

Stay away!!
I lit up three, terrible tasting cigar. I just couldn't light up the fourth.

Pinar Del Rio Robusto
They draw good and have a very good flavor. They are a good anytime cigar, not just for yard work and the price is great. I would recommend them to anyone for their regular smoke.
3 out of 5
Not impressed.
These cigars are like a roller coaster: high points and low points. Flavor starts out with bold spice but dwindles into a mild hint of earth. The construction is way below par for seconds: 1) very soft with an uneven burn, for this cigar either add more tobacco or roll it into a smaller ring gage. 2) Inconsistent flavors between cigars: one cigar is in your face spice settling down to a med mix of flavors and the next cigar has the spice but drops off the chart to just smoke. 3) the wrapper on some of the cigars comes unrolled. Even after 30 days in a cedar lined Humidor helped these cigars. In my opinion these are not the best cigars in this price point.

Big Bank For The Buck
These are one very good cigar for the money. You won't be disappointed.

Not a bad smoke.
Doesn't always burn evenly but when correctly humidified, is a good smoke. I do get a few bits of leaves in the mouth. A bit irritating. Overall not a bad smoke for the price.

PDR overruns...not bad
While I am a big fan of PDR obscuro (blue band) and the sun grown (red band) these overruns are not them. Nonetheless I am still a fan of these. I worked through half a dozen so far and with every one the construction is great, perfect draw, even burn. They did not arrive too dry but I did let them rest a few weeks in my humidor anyway, and are now part of the rotation. While they have a dark Maduro wrapper, the bundle I received were deffinately on the light side, with pleasant but very subtle flavors. A strictly full flavor guy would be dissapointed, but luckily for me I don't discriminate and find appeal from a wide range of cigars. I would buy again cuz hey.. for the price you can't beat it.

Would buy again and again. Very good buy and smoke

Good for the cost
I have only smoked two of them. They were both good. They drew easily, burned evenly. No complaints.

Lots of smoke, loosely wrapped.
Smooth cigar, but loosely wrapped, and a lot of smoke coming from it. Not that great.

Great cigar for the every day user. Good flavor pallet. Did have occasional issue with uneven burn but easily fixed.

So far so good on the brown bag. It was a nice assortment of cigars. A nice mix of Mild, Medium-Full, and even a couple of Full body cigars. I will definitely purchase it again.

You can do better than this
If you manage to get a good one, these aren't bad. However most of them have a very uneven burn and are extremely hard to keep lit. I won't be buying any more of these.
5 out of 5
good for the money
A good everyday cigar that doesn't break the bank. Has a good draw and generally burns well.
4 out of 5
better than other orruns
These are better than their other over runs. The wrapper isn't nearly as thick and it keeps a burn much better. The medium flavor is ok, its not very distinctive and often times I find it rather boring. Still for the price you can't really beat it so it gets 4 stars from me.
4 out of 5
Great smoke
This a great cigar at this price-point. Best feature: fantastic flavor, all the way down. Did not rate 5 stars because of irregular burn. But the fine flavor at such a great price makes up for it. I will be ordering more.
3 out of 5
Torn
Not a bad daily smoke. I have ordered these before and thought they were a great value and a true over run in terms of quality and size. This time I would have cosidered them seconds. Size was not consistent and flavor was all over the place. Still not a bad deal.

Robusto's burned well, tasted good. Good everyday inexpensive smoke. Going to buy again

Great buy!
Have bought these bad boys multiple times and can say that for the money these are great. A couple have could have been better, but 95% have had great flavor and burn nicely. 66% rh has done great things for these cigars. If you haven't tried them, do. Or don't, and leave more for me.

I may have found my new "GO TO" cigar
Great smoke. Paired well with my morning coffee. Burn was not perfect, but that is not a deal breaker. Will get more!

Good cigar
A good cigar for the price, but if I had it to do over again (and I will) I'd order the toro. The toros were box pressed and a better smoke all around.

A great cigar, especially for the price.
4 out of 5
great buy
great everyday cigar would have no problems handing these out
3 out of 5
I think there are better deals...
This batch of PDR overruns has been inconsistent. Some are very light draw and others more dense. Flavor profile is okay but burn and draw issues would make me reconsider this one.

Try for yourself
Read some bad reviews on this cigar worried that they were going to be bad they are not very good cigar grate flavor very happy with the purchase
3 out of 5
Not bad for the price
Not a bad smoke, but this is one where you take your chances re wrapper. I usually smoke at least habano, and maduro when I can get it. I hoped for anything but claro or connecticut. This bunch came in with a claro wrapper. I smoke them when I'm out of everything else. Not bad, but definitely not hearty with the claro wrapper.
1 out of 5
Very bad cigar
Taste is very hot and peppery to the point of bitterness. Burn is very uneven, had to try to relight multiple times and they still would not burn even. Money completely wasted on these, will be throwing them all out.
3 out of 5
Great tasting little fellows!!
These are a great tasting little cigar. These are probably the best tasting cigars I've ever bought at this price point from CI. Then why only 3 stars. I had a big problem with them canoeing. Smoked one right off truck and it canoed, then let them sit in one of my humidors for a month. They canoed up the one side still. Now would I buy these again?. Absolutely!!. These just taste that good. You'll be hard tested to find more flavor at this price anywhere. Great smoke for just relaxing for about an hour.
4 out of 5
Budget Quality
Quality smoke or the price. Construction has been superb with a good draw on each. A bit bitter to my palate, but an overall good choice for budget humidor filler.
5 out of 5
Best for the price
Bitchin price. Ready to burn out of the package. Some were sappy but not much. Burned kind of hot but you can slow your roll if that happens. Easy draw and even burn. The price has me wanting to buy more. Flavor was not lacking and due to the easy draw you can have multiples without killing the insides of your mouth. Will be buying again and now I see they have Churchill versions!

PRICED RIGHT easy to draw
for the price its a 1-2 times a week but will need to have a rotation so you don't over do it with this one. super easy to enjoy this smooth smoke. the first 4-5 I smoked were good for the price. not quite to my flavor palate but I still enjoyed it.

Cigars on the Go
I was traveling and bought this cigars to take with me. They are great cigars the taste the way they burn. I took them with me to a country in South America that they have their cigars. And I have to let you know that the people that smoke my Pinar do Rio Overruns Robusto were very impressed. And all want to know were I get the cigars, now you guys at Cigars International are Famous in South America. Me too ..

Absolute JUNK!
Five out of six end up with the fire roaring down one side of the cigar while the other 3/4 of the diameter is unburnt! The stick lasts about 10 to 15 minutes until you end up smashing it out in disgust. I tried everything - nothing helped. I wouldn't give another nickel for a box of them. You just end up frustrated and angry.

Great cigar at a very reasonable price. Perfect for every day

If you're looking for a cheap smoke, look no further.
I've had PDR's in the past (the non overrun variety) and I enjoyed them. It's a lower mid-level stick in my opinion. I bought these based on the price/quantity and was pleasantly surprised by their construction, burn quality and flavor. I've smoked 12/20 of these and each has provided great smoke output, little to any burn problems, and again fairly complex flavors. If you're looking for a cheap buy amidst a humidor full of big named smokes than I recommend these. Also great to hand out to friends whom don't appreciate smoking as much as you might. As always, well done CI.

Pinar del rio overruns robusto
These are a pleasant enough cigar, certainly a quality smoke. The cigars came needing a humidor right off, quite dry and some wrappers have separated during smoking. A good bet for a reasonable cost, they have burned very even and are enjoyable overall.

Absolutely pathetic!
If you enjoy the aroma and taste of burnt motor oil, then these smokes are for you. Be careful lighting one up, they burn like a candle!!

nice for the $
I have bought the variety packs of this brand before & liked them, even though I usually smoke Nicaraguan cigars. These have some of the flavor of there top quality, but not as extreme in one direction or the other....in fact I might prefer these to some of their other varieties! They smoked well, good draw & even burn. Only wish they offered a maduro.

Good cigars for the cost. Burn and taste are better than most lower cost sticks. I would recommend these for anyone wanting a good everyday smoke.
3 out of 5
Some good, some not so good
I have bought these (Toto) three times. The first two were very good, the last 2 bundles are not very good. Kind of a harsh taste and don't burn evenly. I think I will wait about six months before trying any more.

You win some, you lose some
I’ve ordered several bundles of PDR over-runs, in various sizes. Some are awesome. Some are…. not so awesome. But all of them I would happily buy again, because you’re getting prime cigars for pennies.

PDR sun grown
These are a nice smooth smoke. Medium bodied. Nice burn, nice draw. Price is very cheap. Happy to have a good smoke like these for such an affordable price. This is the second time I have ordered these and will keep ordering more as long as the price stays affordable. PDR has a lot of my favorite smokes. One of my top personal favorite brands. The PDR Exclusivo habano is my favorite.

I was a little apprehensive when I ordered the Overruns. But I was thoroughly pleased with them. I will order them in the future.

The Pinar del Rio overruns.
Any time a long filler fine cigar can be had for that price it is a super deal. And PDR cigars are a better experience than cigars that are two and three times the price. Great deal--Mike--

Great Deal
I recently got the PdR Overruns. They were on sale and a great deal. Mostly. I had a few that had some Major construction issues (as in throw out 1/2 stick) and more that had just some minor ones. But fully half were perfect and tasty with a lot of thick smoke and some big flavors. If you like PdR's I recommend giving this grab bag a try. For these prices you really can't go wrong.
5 out of 5
Well worth the money but
Well worth the money but difficult to keep lit.
4 out of 5
Perfect to share with your golf bodies!
Not good enough compared to the original PDR, but nice cigars and well constructed. I recommend it. But they come so dry than u need to keep it in your humidor at least 2weeks at 72% in order to release the flavor.
3 out of 5
They were fair
I really have enjoyed most of the sticks from Pinar Del Rio, so I thought I'd give the overruns a try. They were ok, not my favorite. There was something different in the flavor that just didn't have me wanting more. I'm still smoking them though, had one on the golf course today.

What a great cigar!
What a great cigar at a beautiful price. I would put this cigar up to some of the most expensive ones out there! It has one of most even burn I have ever seen! A great draw. Mild yet very tasty. A+++
3 out of 5
A little too strong for me
There was nothing wrong with the cigars. They were a little too strong for me. I ordered a different brand which were marked as mild.

Just a great bang for the buck!!

Not what I had before..
Unfortunately these cigars come to me as a disappointment. Six were severy torn and 5 others were spotted in color. The smell was of old stagnant cigar smell. I'd say less than have looked appealing after close examination. I purchased these in the past but were of higher quality. I rarely write reviews but this was the exception and I had to share my experience. -.-
4 out of 5
U can buy it, 'cause u'll enjoy it.
Nice cigar, with a good construction and sharp taste. Burn well but produce a huge smoke. But I will buy it again eventhough they are a bit not enough good as the authentic PDR.
5 out of 5
Great value
usual PDR value. Well wrapped and smooth draw. Great for everyday smoke
4 out of 5
I buy again
There pretty good for the money
3 out of 5
You pays your money and....
In any bundle of 20, there may be a few that aren't worth smoking. Badly wrapped and requiring re-lighting many times. But the next one might be perfectly smokable. In any event, the blend is usually excellent and downright tasty; it's the construction that can be clearly substandard. So why would any sane person keep buying this bundle? When it's priced at a buck and a quarter a stick for the whole bundle, the cost per acceptable cigar is still VERY low, even if you have to toss out three or four. I have not found that the badly constructed ones get any better after lying in my reserve humidor for a month or so.
3 out of 5
Not too bad
The Pinar overruns are not a bad cigar, great for fishing or doing yard work. Personally I prefer a variety so as I got to the bottom of the group I was losing my appreciation for them. This is not a bad thing, I just prefer a variety.
1 out of 5
buyer beware
not worth the price. the cigar falls apart in mid smoke.its not wrapped well enough and comes apart each and every time.these should be considered give-away's or freebies.will not buy again.
4 out of 5
Very good cigars at a great price
I like PDR's and when these 2nds came available, I decided to try them. Absolutely wasn't disappointed. Would get a 5 star if they didn't need to sit in my humidifier for a few weeks before I could enjoy them. Highly recommend trying these especially is you're a fan of PDR's
4 out of 5
Great value
PDR overruns really balance out my cigar portfolio - they bring my average per stick price way down.
3 out of 5
Budget bundle
I found overall that these were a fair to good cigar. Not great but not bad for a budget bundle. Some small issues as far as burning and unraveling, but I would say worth the money you paid. Descent to smoke while doing yard work. PFitz Ma.

Top Quality at a Discount Price
Love these 'gars. Big fan of Pinar del Rio anyway so I bought these to try. Nice pig tail cap. Great construction and burn and the flavor is excellent. Not sure the blend of which this is an overrun (I have an idea) but it will be a repeat for sure.
1 out of 5
Really Nasty
I only smoke low end cigars and I'm not real hard to please but this is the worst cigar I've had. It doesn't smell like a cigar and the smoke doesn't smell like cigar smoke. Like rancid oil. They look nice, they draw well but they have this bizarre non-taste. Chemical? I buy good ones and bad ones & smoke 'em all but this is the first time I've thought about sending a product back. Nasty.

Good smoke, great price
These are not Overruns, they are Seconds. They have minor cosmetic flaws. That doesn't hurt, however. They retain Pinar Del Rio's reputation for a good smoke.

Just Awful!
Just Awful. The ashes are so loose, it just falls off onto your clothes... The smoke is like burnt wood chips!! Definitely a disappointment...
4 out of 5
Great price on some very good smokes.
These PDR Overruns are most definitely some good smokes. Construction is first rate, and they draw and burn as well as any 'first run' cigar. Recommend them for anyone enjoying a good medium, flavorful cigar.

Fine cigars. Love every draw! A great value!!

Better-than-Even Odds of Winning
These are my fall back sticks when nothing else is on sale. Always well made and usually quite tasty. Sure, you'll get that occasional bundle containing Brazilian stink-leaf or whatever it is that PDR seems so fond of (you'll know it if you get it), but order again next month and receive something completely different. All I ask is if CI could at least separate the offerings by wrapper color. Light and dark would be sufficient, and don't whine about the additional couple of SKU's when you have about 10,000 different Gurkha SKU's that taste pretty much like the same cigar with a different band. Thanks!

Overruns overrated
The Pinar del Rio Overruns in corona and figurado were good, but the robustos were different. The smoke aroma was almost a petroleum smell and the taste was funny. Some burned unevenly and went out alot. I would not get robustos again.

Good and Bad
I have ordered these cigars twice. The first was a five star pigtail, very good. The second was a one star non-pigtail,very bad. I split the difference and gave a rating of two and a half stars. DJ

Not a good choice this time
Received what appear to be A crop Claros. Not a good cigar. Usually do good with the overruns, but not this time.

Like Them But Not Sure What To Expect
I order these bundles regularly because I like the sizes (half coronas & robustos) and they're easy on the pocket book. Most of the time I am very happy with them, but at times there are some (toros and more recently a robusto bundle) that are practically unsmokable because of a strong and distasteful chemical-like aroma and flavor upon lighting. I have found that opening the entire bundle and allowing the sticks to "breathe" for a few days helps. Even then, there remains a slight hint of the aroma upon lighting before it eventually dissipates. I would hate to have to give up on these guys. Is there a logical explanation for that strange and unpredictable taste?

Pinar del Rio Overruns
We just called CIS to complain that this last order was terrible, it smoked up the whole room. I tried 3 and just threw them out. Your customer service is replacing them and I will send back the 17 that are left. Have ordered them for some time and usually very good so was surprised how bad this last batch was.

not even going to unwrap them
You never know which cigars you are going to get when you buy the PDR Overruns. I have never gotten a bad batch and have gotten some terrific smokes for a very good price. That being said, I was really disappointed in getting the latest batch. I usually order two or three different sizes of the Overruns and they are usually different blends. Sometimes I get lucky and get the same blend in the different sizes and really enjoy them and then I can read thru the cigar descriptions and figured out which cigars I got. I ordered two packs in Robusto and Toro sizes. I got the same cigar, a box pressed Maduro wrapped blend. I have some of them in the Churchill size and wasn't impressed like I usually am with whatever blend I get. They are not bad cigars, better than a lot of others I have tried from other brands, just would be at the bottom of my list of smokes to keep. I am going to combine these mazos with some other full boxes of different cigars to send to troops around the world. Not too many of our men and women in uniform have access to decent cigars unless they order online. CI does a very good job working with our troops. I can send off five or six boxes of different cigars for not a lot of money and I get the greatest thank you's from these men and women. I will keep ordering the PDR overruns, but will keep my fingers crossed on getting a cigar that keeps me coming back for more great deals.

Good Taste, Great Value
I rated these 3 stars but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them ... I thought they were a good tasting smoke at a terrific price ... they are not the prettiest things but if you're not worried about being judged, you'll be more than satisfied ... this is my second bundle, which is always my greatest review ... thanks

Cigar perfectionist
Good cigar for the money if they send you the maduro. The light shade wrappers are dry and taste like cardboard.

Quality at an everyday price
Quality and richness of smoke - well made - no back bite even down to stogie. Can justify smoking one daily.

As far as the quality of the cigar, it's good. The cigars I received were to mild for my taste.

Good budget smokes without the sacrifice
Built like a Cuban, smokes like a Nicaraguan. Most of the bunch burns well. Tasty.

PDR Overruns
Smoking one as I type this. Very good stick. My first order of PDR overruns from CI were the Robusto. They had a slightly darker wrapper than the Toros and to me a richer flavor. The problem with the Robusto, which is not a bad problem is that by the time I nubbed it I was wishing it was a longer smoke. That's why my second order were the Toros. Both are awesome smokes. I just wish the Toros were as good (imho) as the Robustos. I realize with overruns it's a crapshoot with what you will get. When I order these overruns again (and I will) I'll order the Robustos again hoping to get the same blend as before. As I said both are awesome smokes and an awesome value from CI. Splitting hairs my personal preference is one over the other. Either will get smoked with much pleasure.

Haven't had a bad cigar yet.
Every single order I've made of the Pinar del Rio overruns has been good. Some have been good, some have been outstanding, but I've never had a bad bunch of cigars.

fantastic deals
It's true when CI says you don't know which variety you will receive when ordering the PDR Overruns. I usually buy the Toro size mazos, and the first few times I got cigars that had Habano wrappers and were very good. Two orders ago I bought a mazo of Toros and one of Robustos. Both had very dark Maduro wrappers, and the Toros had a pig-tail twist on the caps. The wrappers were rough looking and to the touch and had some prominent veins. Pretty wrappers don't impress me because you can't taste pretty, you taste the flavors produced by smoking the tobacco. The cigars were on the full side and very enjoyable. I had not seen or smoked this blend, so I wondered which of the PDR lineup were these cigars. I went looking thru the Big List of Brands, and I found the Seleccion 2010 smokes, and bingo, pictured was the Toro size with the dark black wrapper and pig-tail twist. I scrolled thru the reviews and I found other smokers listed the same characteristics like rough looking wrapper and prominent veins. Great cigars for a low price. My last order included a mazo of Torpedo sized cigars. They aren't as dark as the others, but definitely a nice looking Maduro wrapper. As soon as I lit one up and took a puff, I knew right away they were Reserva Limitadas which have been my most liked cigar from PDR. I have two mazos of the robusto size RLs which provide me with a very good 'yard-gar'. They were in the Clearance section and I got them during one of the 20% discount sales. Great cigars at a Great price...keep it up CI!!!

Great everyday cigar
My budget currently limits my choices but these cigars are flavorful even though you get varying blends depending on what's in stock. I'll continue to keep a hefty stock of them even when I can afford to expand my choices which will happen. Thanks CI for this offering!

PDR Overruns Robusto Hits The Mark
The PDR Overruns Robusto is everything you could ask for from a Cigar maker, great rich taste, lots of thick smoke (not politically correct but the self-corrected are non-cigarers) great looks and super great price. I have purchased the PDR Overruns Robustos several times and will continue. Please do not let the PDR folks read this as they might raise the price. PDR I'm yours. Norm Newport Beach, CA

Expected a little more after reading other reviews.
Taste was OK at start, better in middle, but did not finish very well. Nice burn with volumes of white smoke. However, while some cigars you tend to smoke down to the nub, not this one. Very harsh at the last one inch.
