Rocky Patel Connecticut

A deliciously subtle, exclusive handmade from Rocky Patel cigars.

It would be impossible for me to count how many of these I've burned through in the past few months, and I can tell you confidently that those who crave their cigars mellow in body yet long on flavor will go cuckoo for cocoa puffs over the RP Connecticut cigar line. Given the quality, the reasonable price (more on that later), and the pedigree - as witnessed by Rocky Patel’s bumper crop of hot new blends, including the 93-rated Vintage and astounding Sun-Grown and Edge series - I have grown extremely excited about this cigar. Subtle, smooth and loaded with crisp, soothing flavors that can satisfy just about any palate, the Connecticut by Rocky Patel is, simply put, another outstanding super premium from one of the hottest makers in the business today.

As far as’d probably expect this to be a $7 or $8 cigar. Nah! Instead, a remarkable $4 to $5 per cigar, only at CI.

Top-flight smoke
I ordered a special pack of ten that came with a gift card. The packaging appears to no longer be available which is why I'm not a "verified buyer". But this is a joyous cigar, wonderfully mild, aromatic and smooth. A+ construction and burn. Perfect for me.

OK stick.
Smooth smoke, easy draw, but a lot of very uneven burning.Sometimes only one side of cigar will burn steadily.

Harsh start mellow finish
The first few puffs you wonder why am I smoking this? It quickly mellows out and improves with a complex flavor and steady even burn to the very end.

Rocky Patel Connecticut Super Toro
As usual this is another mild, well constructed Patel cigar. The 60 ring means a cooler smoke with lots of smoke. The price offered by CI allows this to be a daily stick.

Rocky Patel Connecticut robusto
A mild cigar and what I expected from it. Good flavor but I had some problem with burn issues with several of them. Had hoped I just ran into a "bad" cigar but unfortunately had problems with several. A very nice, mild tasting cigar but some burn issues that made the experience less than terrific. Even so, I would purchase them again but only if they were on sale. I'm not going to pay full price for a cigar that I have to touch up several times when smoking it.

For the price, a good smoke
Rocky Patel Connecticut Toro's and Churchill's are my everyday go to cigar. A mild smoke worth the price.

Lots of smoke and smooth flavor. I'm new at all this but one thing I know that I like is lots of smoke and the RP Connecticut fits the bill. It's creamy smooth and though I do tend to go for medium to full blends I will continue to buy, smoke and share these.

Very good cigar for the price
I picked up a 5 pack and for the price it was an amazing deal. I enjoy light cigars for during the week after a long day at work and these were perfect for that, they burned pretty slow and they went perfect with a Blue Moon beer. I would highly recommend this.

Tasty but burns poorly
I tried a higher end Patel after these just to be sure, but I had major issues keeping these lit. I am a novice cigar smoker but found the inside of the cigar burned faster than the outside, causing the cigar to go out. Many corrections and relights needed. I have no problems with pretty much any other I've tried. Fantastic shipping though from Cigars International.

Decent but, not much more than so-so...
I got this one in a sampler pack... decent smoke, but, I din't find it to be that much of a standout... even burn, but, the draw was a little "tight" and the flavor, although mild like I like, wasn't all that spectacular. A friend gave me a couple of these (Torpedos), so, I will keep them in the humidor for a while.. good for a giveaways, or just to have somethin' to smoke when I may not want to disturb some of the sticks I have that I know are better... or maybe for one of my infamous bad rounds of golf. :-)

$1 cigars are a better experience
Worst smoke I have had in a long time, taste was terrible like an ash tray. Didn't stay lit just a very bad experience, I have had dollar cigars that were a much better experience then this. This was my last cigar our of a sampler pack, I saved it for last because I thought I would enjoy and want to order some more. I guess not.

Good Stick after some rest.
Smoked two of these from a five pack I bought. First one didn't care for after testing for a month. Second one let rest another month and was much better. Got a nice even burn and lasted for over an hour. These are a good budget Rocky Patel after some rest in your humidity to adjust to your taste. Would buy again as they are a nice Rotax in the backyard with a drink stick. Nice smoke output. Not as mild as a 5 Vegas Gold.

Excellent smoke
Received a message that my soon to be married son would like to have cigars to hand out to friends at their wedding reception. Since I'm a long time RP fan I chose Connecticut Churchills. It a great smoke for the price and should be a hit. Besides that, I like them and might as well have a smoke that's enjoyable.

Nice and mild. A lot of them were rolled too tight and were hard to get a good draw from. Overall though a good cigar to just relax and enjoy after a long hard day of work

All Tme Favorite!!!
I'm rather new to cigars. So, I've "shopped" around quite a bit to discover what I really like. Well, the search ended here. I'll continue to try different cigars, but the RP Connecticut is an all time favorite. Outstanding flavor, even burn and great draw are all factors in this decision.

Superb Mild to Medium Cigar
I tried this cigar based upon the reviews posted hereon and I have to say, everything I read is a proven fact. These are a GREAT cigar! While they are definitely a "mild" cigar, they have just a touch of the medium body to give a little extra bonus in taste, they are superb both in their draw, their taste and the absolutely mellow aftertaste they leave. While I prefer Rocky's to just about any cigars I've smoked including the premium Fuentes. these are, by far, the most pleasurable smokes I've enjoyed to date. I highly recommend them both to the novice and seasoned aficionado. I don't think you'll be disappointed and they are a definite bargain, to boot. They are also the perfect compliment to a fine single malt scotch with my preference being a Glenlivet or Clynelish 12.

It a Rocky P
I really enjoyed this cigar. It's got good flavor, and lots of smoke. I had a little trouble with the burn - needed a couple touch ups (even though I conditioned it properly after delivery). Honestly I've never had an RP that I didn't enjoy, even though they have such a variety of products.

Major Disappointment
I am a fan of Rocky Patel. But, the Connecticut Robusto is a disappointment. I know this is a mild cigar, but there is a difference between mild and little of no taste. It also burns unevenly and has to be relighted several times before it can be finished. Finally, the cigar leaves a metallic after taste. NOT one of Rocky Patel's better efforts.

Perfect in Every Way!
I’m relatively new to cigars, so I try different “makes & models” to figure out what I truly enjoy. Well, my search is over. The RP Connecticut was perfect in every way. Outstanding draw, taste, and burn. The wrapper remained intact throughout the entire smoke, the mild taste was very satisfying, and the burn was very even from start to finish. I’ll continue to smoke other brands and types, but the RP Connecticut will be the keystone stick in my humidor for a very long time to come.

So my buddy Roger is raving about smoking a Rocky Patel. I remember I have a few in my humidor so I bust one out this morning for a coffee break. I start it and think it isn't bad for a morning cigar. Then the trouble starts. I am having trouble keeping it lit. After a while I just gave up on it. Around lunch time I see it still lying in my ash tray and decide to cut off the end and start again. What happened next shocked me. I cut off a half inch to find it was completely charred in the middle. Another half inch and same result. This cigar had actually burnt the middle out for a good 2 inches. No wonder I had trouble keeping it lit! Roger gets the rest of my Rocky stash as soon as I see him again.

Never again...
This is one extremely disappointing stick. As a relatively new/rookie cigar smoker, I've heard nothing but unabashed praise for Rocky Patel's creations: he's one of the best in the business, it is often claimed. So I bought a five pack of Rocky Patel Connecticut Robustos. I'm glad I didn't buy a whole box. I've smoked two of them: I won't bother smoke the rest. Construction is great with a smooth, medium-loose draw, decent smoke output, and a fairly even burn (a little hilly, but it usually corrects itself). Unfortunately, those are the only good things I can say about this. The flavor is one-dimensional and boring: I get spicy black pepper... and that's absolutely it. For a 40-45 minute stick, I expect something more flavorful... or at least one that gets more interesting as you smoke it. But, nope, it's just nothing but pepper. And the aftertaste is horrible: it tastes like somebody jammed a charred twig in my mouth. My second cigar went out after roughly the first inch: I lit it up, kept on smoking, and about halfway through, got bored and let it sit and burn itself out. And perhaps it's just me being a new smoker (never have and never will smoke cigarettes, and I've only had a few cigars before), having not yet built up a tolerance to nicotine, but this has one heck of a kick. The first one I smoked all the way to the nub made me nauseous; the second one gave me a buzz by the end of the first third. For that reason, I would not recommend this cigar as one to give your new-to-smoking friends: it might be enough to put them off smoking completely. So for me, I guess it's lesson learned: I won't be buying this cigar again.

Disappointing cigar
I am a big fan of CI. With that said, when I saw an ad for a sampler of Rocky Patel Connecticut cigars, I ordered them. What I expected was a very tasty Connecticut. What I received was very disappointing. The cream and slight spice cigar I expected was instead a non flavorful disappointment. Had I known, I would have instead ordered a box of Mark Twains, for the same price. I will be giving these to a friend, who will gladly smoke anything with a Rocky Patel label.

The Connecticut's are a great smoke on the course. Smooth, not too big and keeps my stroke in line.

I usually smoke medium-full cigars, but enjoy a mild cigar. I'd call this a mild-medium cigar, with good flavor. Bought a box and haven't had a blocked cigar yet after 10 smoked. Well-made cigar, excellent draw. I recommend this cigar to anyone wanting a mild smoke from time to time.

Customer Testimonials
This is the best mild cigar I've ever tasted. Goes great with a cup of joe in the morning. Must try!
If vanilla, cream, and butter are flavor profiles you're after, don't hesitate to buy a box of these. Plus they are great sticks to give to less experienced friends who need a less robust smoke. Bonus: great price from CI.
I just tried this stick as part of the Brown Bag Sampler and it's really good. I don't generally go for the mild Connecticut cigars but this one has a lot of flavor for a Connecticut mild cigar. Rocky has outdone himself with this one. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone!
By far the best cigar I have had in a long time.
I am fairly new to the cigar circuit, prefer to try things at least 3 times before boistering my opinion and have been hesitant to write a review for that reason. That being said, on the second stick I have been able to enjoy, it has become apparent that this is the first cigar that mildly and smoothly burned its way into my heart and will most likely be the first full box that I will buy. Mild and cedary along with an all day at any time smokeability.
I like milder cigars, and I like this nice tasty smoke. They draw nice and stay cool; I'd buy these again.
Unlike most of you, I did not enjoy these at all. I got a 5 pack of the Toro. It did not burn evenly and got very bitter right at about the half-way mark. I think there are far better mild smokes for the same amount of money.
I've had problems over time with Rocky Patel consistency. This Connecticut robusto is different; great construction consistency, good draw, nice mild flavor. I smoke one cigar per day, rotating cigars including Cubans. This Patel has turned out to be one of the most reliable cigars I've bought recently.
A mild smoke that's creamy and nutty and it gets smoother and smoother the more you smoke it. The aroma off this cigar is amazing!
I am really puzzled. It must be my taste buds going, as I just got my 5 pack and was not blown away or making this stick my new best friend. Started off with a bite, but smoothed out after about 15 minutes. Draw was not particularly easy. Smoke was good, but had to work it. It was just ok for me....
Got a box of these for X-mas from my father and have been impressed from the first one I smoked. Given the price point and quality you get from a Patel, you can't go wrong. I would certainly buy another box. Great smoke.
I am what we in the military call an FNG to the cigar world. Ordered me a variety of mild cigars to get things started. RP Connecticut was the first one that I fired up and WOW!!!!! Very impressive. Consistent burn, easy draw and mild flavors for the FNG. This cigar will remain a constant in my humidor. Thanks CI for an amazing first experience.
I'm smoking my first RP Connecticut as I write this and it's very enjoyable for a mild smoke. I'm getting some sweet/caramel nuances from it. The burn is razor sharp and the draw is tight; not in a bad way either. I rate it a 9 of 10. Go get yourself some and try them out; they're great.
Decent smoke if you want something very mild with some subtle complexity. Too mild and plain for my taste though. I smoke once a week or so and like something with a bit more depth in flavor.
I bought these after reading all the great reviews on them. Honestly I think they really are just an average at best cigar comparable to inexpensive brands. I will not be ordering them again. I guess everyone has different tastes and to me they are just average and nothing special.
Believe the hype. Beautiful construction, nice draw, great flavor, 2 inch ash. Only other mild that I can think can compete is a Gurkha Beauty. Absolutely love these.
I am a newbie to cigars, however I have quickly come to understand quality in construction. These cigars are excellent draws, well made, and very smooth. That being said, I have also come to appreciate complexities in taste and finish. As promised, these Connecticuts are extremely mild, perhaps even bordering on boring. Again, they are marketed as very mild, I am not complaining. However I now know I prefer a more medium stick. Excellent starter cigar however.
Smooth, creamy, flavorful, and an excellent value. This blend is absolutely fantastic.
I'm sitting on my back porch watching the Texas sunset and enjoying, quite possibly the best cigar I've ever had. Rocky Patel Connecticut in the cool of the evening, it just doesn't get any better than this. Thank you CI for turning me on to these with your mega sampler deal. I will be a repeat customer.
I started smoking cigars again a month ago after a long break. I got a Rocky Patel Connecticut in a sampler. By far the best I have had. WOW! Smooth and creamy all the way through.
I really enjoy this very mild cigar. It has very mild smooth taste with a very slight earthy hint. The only negative thing I can say is sometimes the ash grows to a inch and falls off. The fill of this cigar seems a bit too soft, which may account for the soft ash. Even so, I am very likely to buy another box.
My first encounter with a Rocky Patel and it didn't disappoint me at all. There was so much smoke, too. Full, rich, heavy smoke that lingered above my head the entire evening - yup! It took me over 90 minutes to smoke it and I never really wanted to set it down. And the ash. OMG! You don't drop the ash off this stick. Rather, you give it a bang to break it off. Wow! I can't wait to try more of Senor Patel's magic in the near future. I'd buy stock if it was available. A great mild smoke for a newby like myself. Nothing pretentious here. Just fine tobacco flavor, tons of smoke, and an easy draw that never tires you out.
Nice mellow flavor. I like the RP Connecticut!
Being somewhat new to cigars, I have been sampling many sticks and found I prefer a mild one. Rocky Patel's Connecticut and 1999 Connecticut are smooth, aromatic and priced right, thanks to CI's specials. I have many cigars in my two humidors, aging nicely. However, I can't keep those Rocky Patel's in there long enough to age! They are THAT good.
It is like smoking a stick of butter!!! Smooth, creamy, nice smoke, pleasant flavor. If you are new to cigars or just like the mild side, then I highly recommend this excellent cigar.
Don't get me wrong I was pointed in the direction of these cigars because of all the good things I've heard about them. I do like them I bought a box of toros and the flavor is good but I do not like the peppery finish it has it almost makes me want to brush my tongue after a big draw I'll give it a B overall grade
In my opinion, the Rocky Patel Connecticut series of cigars are some of the most enjoyable mild cigars I have ever smoked. I would defiantly recommend them to anyone looking for a mild cigar with just enough body for a smooth mellow taste and good burn consistency. The Rocky Patel Connecticut is an ideal type of cigar for a day on the golf course or fishing on the lake, because it is mellow enough for the smoker to be able to enjoy more than one in a day without it being too much. Overall, I would have to rate this cigar at a solid 7.5. This is defiantly a cigar that will continue to be stocked in my humidor. Hope this provides help to anyone interested in this cigar!
I ordered these in a sampler on a fluke and have probably gotten 4-5 samplers since. For the price, you can't beat it. These burn consistently, have great draw, are well constructed, and are overall a good smoke. But, don't try one until it's sat in your humidor a few weeks; my experience has been these are not ready to smoke "out of the box." These are a staple for my humidor.
Very easy to light. Excellent construction, draw and burn. Very little resistance on the draw. Heavy smoke output but thin and slightly dry on the palate. Nice aroma. Mild strength with mild to medium flavors. Flavors of light caramel, cashew nuts and vanilla with a faint, sweet cedar on the medium length finish. Tobacco is slightly sweet and salty on the lips. Despite being mild, the flavor profile is very nice and blends well in this cigar.
Very nice cigar I'm more of a darker cigar person but this was pretty good bang for buck
Perfect burn... Relaxing, and delicious... Thank you CI...
Overall, most of cigars were harsh, and did not burn well. The few that were "good", were excellent. Although a great deal, won't buy again.
It's easy to forget how good something is after trying several samplers and getting used to a draw like a lemon seed stuck in a straw and keeping a burn needs torching and turning. After treating my palette like a men's room floor, my RP Connecticut Sampler showed up at the door. An easy smooth draw and a nice mild blend, I burned that puppy down to its end. As I stood in the yard and drew my last toke, I thought to myself what a wonderful smoke! I flicked the little nub into the field, bowed my head in humble silence and vowed to stray no more, no more........ snif, snif... snork.
I received this cigar in a sample pack, I have to say it was the worst out of the bunch, taste was good but...uneven burn, came all to pieces, almost impossible to smoke it all. I will not buy these again for sure. It doesn't matter how good it tastes if you can't smoke it.
RP Connecticut Toros are one of my everyday smokes. Reliably solid construction and a good draw, along with a generally even burn. At CI's prices, if you like a quality smoke that's on the milder side, these are awfully hard to beat.
Very easy draw. My brother gave me half a box worth of torpedos. I see this as a good golfing cigar, but there's very little flavor in here. Good starter cigar, but nothing outstanding. Personally I can't recommend these if your purpose is just relaxing and having one. I like the mildness to it, but there's just no flavor to the smoke.
Very nice and smooth cigar.
Just received my Rocky Patel Connecticut sampler along with my humidor. I couldn't resist the urge to smoke one and I must say, what a delicious cigar. I usually don't smoke too early in the day, but as I say, I couldn't help myself and I was rewarded with a very good smoke indeed. Thanks CI! You guys are great! Definitely a cigar for people getting into cigar smoking and not wanting anything strong to start with.
Love this cigar! Great for golfing or sitting around with my buddies. Mild and long lasting.
Just ordered the Vintage last week. After I go through those I'm ordering these, can't wait to try them!!
...afficianado returning after 10 yr sabbatical starting at the mild-medium my palate step by step...received this 'RP Connie' as part of the "Mild & Mellow Sampler #4"...very smooth flavor profile...actually seemed to get smoothier...creamier...better as it burned down to a 'finger burning' nub!! I'll order a 5'er to make sure it's a consistent smoke, but it looks to be an addition to my early rotation!! I still prefer the Graycliff 'G2' overall!! $2.99 cents per stick in this sampler CI continues to make 'toasting a foot' within every man's budget!! THANKS CI !!!
Wasn't a big fan. Lot of smoke, not a lot of flavor. Decent at best.
great cigar!!! enough said.
For those who like the RP Vintage 1999, you will enjoy RP's Connecticut for 1/2 the price. A nice substitute for the 1999 if your cigar allowance is tight for the month. Stay lit my friends.....
Very easy smoke, mild but not as smooth as others like R&J Vintage or Montecristo white label. Good value cigar.
My all time favorites.... My go to smoke... Great price
I guess I'm the odd man out - unlike most of the other reviewers, I was unimpressed by these. The mild flavor is decent but with no depth and disappears almost instantly. Loose pack smokes quickly, though it wasn't hot or uneven. Overall not a bad cigar but not good enough to pay money for.
Burn, great. Draw, great. Flavor...well it was ok. This cigar kept me looking for something different the further down I got, but to no avail. The flavor was exactly the same from start to finish. For a mild cigar the flavor was good but lacked some complexity. This would be a great cigar for golf or other activities where concentrating on a cigar's complexity or flavor is not the first thing on your mind.
Even with the 40+ positive reviews, I felt compelled to post after I smoked this beauty. The construction, look, feel is perfect on this cigar. It was a mild cigar the introduced a steady flavor, with a perfect draw from start to finish. Each puff was a thick lingering cloud of smoke that was smooth to the taste and neve hot. RP continues to set himself apart from the pack. He just gets it! Saying this is a great cigar is an understatement.
I picked up some churchills in a sampler. Good cigar. It had a very distict burnt toast flavor. Taste was the same all the way through. Lots of smoke. Even burn. Long 2 inch ash. It had an easy draw. Great smoke for a long day at a bbq
I hate when I am the first one in awhile that goes against the flow of other reviews. It makes me feel like I'm wrong, or received a bad cigar. Nevertheless, I have to be honest with myself, and to others who read my review. After smoking the RP Connecticut, and the Hoyo Excalibur #1. The latter is far superior in construction, flavor, smoothness, and and any other area. In addition, there is not much different in price between the two, which makes the Excalibur a better purchase. That is not to say that the Connecticut is a poor quality cigar, it is just that you can get a much better cigar for your money. Let me suggest that you make a purchase of 5 RP Connecticuts, and 5 Hoyo Excaliburs. Both cigars need to rest in your humidor for at least two weeks, and I can't stress this enough. Then, you do your own comparison to see if I'm right or wrong. Regardless, both cigars are quality in nature, and should be givien consideration when you place your next order.
"As a guy that likes full bodied cigars, I was not sure how I would like this. I ordered the sampler pack of 20 and It did not take be long to appreciate this well made, mild, but tastie blend! With over 300 cigars in my humidor, I found myself craving this cigar almost daily. I just new the stick was going to draw perfectly every time and deliver a creamy smooth taste that did not take long to appreciate!"
Connecticut by Rocky Patel. This is a very mild selection with very little flavor variance. The overriding theme was a smooth, mild tabacco flavor with an ever so slight hint of nuts that got a little more pronounced in the last 1/4 of the stick. Solid construction. Steve-O's description of knocking off ask vs tapping is accurate. This smoke would go well with a nice cup of coffee and steamed milk.
I just got this torpedo out my humidor this evening and what a great cigar! Just as soon as I lit this cigar I noticed how smooth of a draw it had and the pleasant aroma of the the smoke. The taste was mellow and smooth and left a nice after taste after I was done smoking it. Rocky Patel's Connecticut is certainly one of my favorite cigars.
the rp connecticut is an outstanding mild body cigar. I can't imagine a more flavorful mild cigar. It has a great burn. A true classic!
A friend of mine gave me a RP connie, Churchill, to try. I usually like darker shades but I like RP so I lit it up. I was impressed by the nice even burn and fine smoke. The taste was a little too mild but still pleasant. It was a good outdoor smoke, no problems staying lit and no "cupping". The friend told me the price for these cigars so that sold me. The taste, the burn, and the price makes it a good everyday cigar that you dont mind lighting up and gifting out during backyard BBQs and during the game. It has a solid spot in my humi lineup.
Excellent cigar!! I enjoy Rocky Patels, all kinds, but this by far is one of his best in my opinion. Very mild with a very nice flavor. I would describe it almost as a cream flavor with a hint of coffee and then your more traditional cedar flavor towards the end. Very nice smoke and burns very well with decent ash. I have a preference for Connecticut Shade and this is one of the best out there! Would reccomend this cigar to anyone looking for a nice, flavorful, mild smoke.
I've tried quite a few cigars from the RP lineup, but this is one of the best I've had. It had a smooth, creamy, almost caramel-like flavor for the first third, with lots of smoke, and a pleasant aroma. Around the last third, there's a bit of heat, but in my opinion, it just added to the total experience. I'm not embarrassed to say that I smoked it down until I hit a not-so pleasant burnt paper taste. Don't worry, though. It was just me hitting the ring.
The Rocky Patel Connecticut is my new mild cigar of choice. I ordered the mild sampler from CI, and with out dough, this is my new favorite mild cigar. This cigar is and excellent smoke from start to finish. It has a consistent flavor, nice and steady burn, excellent appearance, smell, and texture. This is definitively a keeper!
Wow! Mild and Delicious. Very even ash, draw is consistent, and taste is just right. Slightly earthy with a smooth creamy taste that mellows the mouth and soul. Got it in one of the samplers and was I in heaven. Smoked it down to the nub. One of the best mild cigars I had in a long time.
I am a novice to the cigar world so I tend to enjoy the mild smokes. This one was smooth with an easy draw and plenty of smoke. It was smooth and mild for about 3/4 of the way then the last 1/4 was what I call a little hot. Still enjoyable to the point that I smoked it down to a stub. If your like me and enjoy the milder type of cigar you'll enjoy this one.
Getting away for a bit to smoke a cigar here in Baghdad is my chance to get away from the war and relax. I gave a 5Vegas "A" (which is my mainstay) to a friend and in return I was given a RP Connecticut. I've never really been impressed with milder cigars, they've just kind of been "meh". I put in my humidor here for about a month (you think it gets dry stateside? Try Iraq in July) and although I was skeptical, the cigar was quite soft and gave no signs of being dehydrated. I'm not going to lie, the RP Connecticut is a beautiful cigar, absolutely beautiful. The Connecticut wrapper is flawless and simple. It drew perfectly from the beginning, and it burned evenly the entire way. The ash held perfectly, and was pretty dark. Lots of charcoal with a little bit of sepia tones in it. I'm guessing there was quite a bit of magnesium in the soil. Honestly, it was one of the most finely crafted cigars I've ever burned. There was quite the bit of smoke as well. HOWEVER; I could not get past the flavor. There were no surprises it, and not for the better. From the start it was bitter and grassy. I still can't describe it right as I've tried to wash my hands of it. There was no sweetspot. Quite the opposite really. I tried my hardest to be patient with it. I burned it up until about 2 inches and I just couldn't hadle it anymore. The last few draws made me gag. WELL BUILT CIGAR, BEAUTIFUL CIGAR. CRAP FLAVOR. It would take alot of influencing to get me to try another one of these.
If you take the label off, replace it with a White Label Monticristo, and generously pass these out to your've got buddies for life. It may not have the prestige (or the high price) of the Monticristo, but with your first draw, you're in, my friend. There's no turnin' back. This cigar is great in the morning (YES! MORNING!!...try it with your coffee, trust me on this) and great in the evening. It's like a beautiful woman that never always want it.
I smoked one right out of the box and i was not impressed. The Conn. wrapper was a little dry and had a grassy taste. So i just put them in the back of the humi. About a month passed and i thought it might be time to revisit the smoke. Glad i did. The Conn. wrapper had developed into a creamy, nutty version of its former self. paired with the tasty fillers it had developed into a nice tasty, light stick. Bravo R.P., sorry i doubted you
Just got this in a sampler. They advertised the torpedo but sent me the one in the picture, I think the toro. In either case the cigar was ok, at best. Better than alot of the junk but not something I would ever order. It was fairly bland with just a hint of flavor. I give it a 80. You can do better.
Got my first (Rocky Patel Connecticut) in a sampler, been hooked ever since. Has all the hallmarks of an RP premium; flawless construction, smooth draw, consistent high quality. I kicked myself (several times) for buying only one box the last time they were on sale. That won't happen again. A top shelf smoke at an everyday price. Thanks, CI!
A good regular smoke (Rocky Patel Connecticut), similar to the '99, but not quite as smooth or as costly. Got a buch on the last special they were on - very happy....
Not too long ago I boughta box of RP connecticut on a whim .(Rocky Patel Connecticut)came with a bonus sample pack of connecticuts too .5 of each size .. I smoked all of thease cigars up fast .. The were just too pleasing not to .I almost do not want to open the box Of RP connecticuts up just yet .. Why you ask ?/ well I know I will burn through half the box in no time at all . If anyone is thinking of buying a box you will not regret it .. one of the best cigars I have ever smoked .
I first got this cigar (RP Connecticut) as part of the mild and mellow sampler. Well I got through most of the pack and was down to the Rocky Patel Connecticut. I did not even get through half the cigar before I knew this would be my new favorite. I immediately went on line and ordered a box of toros. This cigar is well constructed with a nice firm wrapper, the draw is perfect with an even burn, add to that flavors that build up through the burn and I am sold. The best part about mild cigars is you decide how strong they get. At the start it is all a mild cigar should be, towards the middle flavors intensify becoming a little more spicy and at the end it will satisfy the med to full smoker in me. Best of all is the aroma without leaving a heavy taste in my mouth. Thanks, KRK
i have tried many cigars over the years, but i have found what i consider the best [not counting diamond crown]. rocky patel connecticut. all i have to say is if you try it you will like it. enjoy
Rocky Patel Connecticut has been one of my go-to's since i tried my first one, and i am not much a fan of mild. of the many of these i have passed out to people with various body/flavor preferences, all have said nothing but good things. its going to be hard to save the one i have thats spent some quality time in my humi, they seem to almost pick up a slight cedar note after you leave em in the box for a while
I started smoking cigars about a year ago. Since then I've tried about a hundred never finding one that I wanted to buy a box. Well my first Rocky CT was from the CI Mild/Med sampler pack. It blew me away. So much so I ordered the Churchhills with the upgrade. Even knowing that sometimes that next cigar from the same company never tastes the same. Not in this case, wow. Handing them out to friends with same reviews. Mild taste that lasts for hours in your mouth. Only cigar that comes close is the Oliva Serie V. The Churchhills alreardy on backorder, hope that's not a sign of shortage. BEST CIGAR EVER!!!!!!!!!
Mild yet flavorful. (Rocky Patel Connecticut) Good taste; clean tobacco flavor. The burn is great, too. An excellent morning or mid-day cigar.
The Rocky Patel Conneticut is just flat out an excellent cigar. It doesn't matter what brand or strength you prefer, this cigar will win you over.
WOW.....the fastest box of cigars I have ever smoked! I could not stop. (Rocky Patel Connecticut) so I just ordered more...muhahaha mild cigar fans rejoce..
I was introduced to this mild, mellow cigar (Rocky Patel Connecticut) while visiting downtown Bethlehem, when I wandered into what seemed to be Heaven-on-Earth. I asked the sales guy for a nice, mild smoke, and was directed towards this beauty. I just received my box of 20, along with my freebie of ten Vintage 1992s. The freebie alone is worth the price of the entire order. I highly recommend this cigar. PS...I wouldn't do business with any other cigar none!!
I got a sampler pack for Christmas containing a bunch of different cigars. This was one of them.(Rocky Patel Connecticut) I consider myself more of a medium to full guy but since I smoke them all the time I figured I change of pace would be nice. I was really impressed and overjoyed with this. It was cool and had notes of nuttiness. I was a huge fan, and am definitely considering getting more of these soon.
First off, I have always thought of myself as a medium-full bodied cigar smoker. This cigar sort of made me re-think the whole mild cigar thing.(Rocky Patel Connecticut) This is a good example of a mild bodied cigar with a really nice flavor profile. This is the perfect afternoon relaxing on the deck smoke. I picked up a sampler, and have enjoyed all the sizes. I am a true believer that the time of day you smoke a cigar can make or break your experience. For me, the Connecticut has been my perfect first-cigar-of-the-day smoke. Looks like I may have to order some more!
As a special offer, I purchased a RP Conn. mega sampler a short while back. After letting them sleep in my humi I finally gave three a try. I would compare it to a Montecristo White but substantially less expensive. Not too complex, which is what I look for in a mild-med cigar. The burn was even, cool and slow w/ a crisp flavor that was easily identified as creamy w/ hints of toasted nuts and a sweet finish. All in all, the RP Conn. is a consistant cigar you could have any time of day and one I will continue to keep an ample stock of. Thanks CI for making the Rocky Patel Connecticut sampler available at such an affordable price.
Just got my RP Connecticut robusto from CI today, and could not wait to stoke one up. I am a big fan of the RP line and this one did not let me down. First, the wrapper is smooth and creamy, second, the burn was perfect, and third, the draw was flawless. If you are looking for a change, you cannot go wrong with the RP Connecticut, mild with great aroma, have to go and stoke up another one.
I had purchased a bundle of Connecticut by Rocky Patel through Joe's cigar special and all I can say is WOW Rocky has done it again. This mild but real flavorful cigar has got to be my favorite smoke to date. The flavors that this cigar produce without burning your tongue are amazing. With a great burn, ample clouds of smoke, easy draw, and a super pleasant aroma ( even to those around who are not smoking, as evidenced by their compliments ). I have treated many of my cigar smoking buddies to this fine cigar and they are all fascinated by this fine smoke. These will always be in my humidor, which is becoming quite full thanks to the great deals that CI are always offering. Keep up the great work CI as you have become my cigar supplier of choice, as you always offer the best deals on my favorite brands at the prices that I want to pay. Your shipping is the best I have ever experienced as evidenced by my placing an order at 11:30 am one morning and recieving my shipment at 1 pm the next afternoon keep up the great work.
BRAVO! Now this was a fine smoke (Rocky Patel Connecticut). Tried this in the Connecticut Clash.. vs Monte Cristo.. A very in depth puro. Full of cool flavors .yet mild. Expertly constructed.. and for the price.??. BINGO!! Well done..
i grew up in the conn. valley around portland and weatherfield ,ct.every spring the conn.river would overflow its banks and fertilize the tobbacco first job was working in the fields suckering tobbacco leaves.i never new then that the tobbacco grown here is one of the best.rockies well appreciated now .and what a taste this cigar has .thanks
I got a bundle of these (RP Connecticut) with some fusions that I bought and really didnt expect much from them. After smoke this RP my faith is restored in connecticut wraps. I love nice oily maduro wrapper but this connecticut I could smoke anytime, anywhere with a smile on my face. It starts a little slow but if you give it a few minutes it settles in really nice.
I don't know why I should be surprised that these Rocky Patel Connecticut cigars are sooo good. I've tried them in different samplers and was impressed. Finally ordered a box and found it difficult to wait for the order to come in. Had to have one immediately after opening and was rewarded with the taste and smoothness I'd expected. I'm usually a mild to medium cigar smoker but these beauties deliver everything their stonger cousins provide. It was nice to get the freebie of other sizes and shapes and have been enjoying them just as much.
I have to admit that I wasn't a huge Rocky Patel fan. But this Connecticut line is extremely tasty. The cigar itself is beautiful with a perfect draw and had nice tight ash. Mild and flavorful with lots of thick white smoke. This cigar made a believer and a fan of Rocky Patel out of me! Cheers!
This is an excellent and tasty mild cigar (Rocky Patel Connecticut) which is nicely constucted and burns evenly to the nub.
Wow! This is exactly what a mild cigar (Rocky Patel Connecticut) should be. Just tons and tons of great flavor without the head-bang. Floral, woodsy, buttery, creamy. Started perfect, then just got better. Go Rocky!
Rocky's the man. This cigar (Rocky Patel Connecticut) is the real deal, smooth and silky, yet with a flavor kick. Now I just need to hit the lotto so I could smoke this baby all the time.
Great cigar (Rocky Patel Connecticut)! just got through smoking my first one, i think it's time to light up a second. As a new cigar smoker (hey i'm working on that) this one left me with high hopes for my other RP's sitting in my humidor. buy at least 20 of these, you'll need them!
What a great smoke (Rocky Patel Connecticut)! I've been a fan of the RP 1992 Vintage and I was honestly worried that this one wouldn't live up to the standard. This is a perfect draw, and a cool smoke. I was grinning from ear to ear thinking about the next time I'd smoke this one again.
I ordered the special last week and I gotta' tell you, I'm pissed. If I had any idea these smokes were so good I'd have loaded up. Rocky Patel Connecticut is a great cigar! Smooth and mild, yeah, but the flavor is outstanding. I lean more towards medium / full bodied, but I'll smoke these any place, any time. I don't know how y'all do it, but please do it again. I'm in. Thanks again!
I ordered the one day special sampler pack, and was knocked off my feet! After just one smoke, this is my new favorite mild cigar (Rocky Patel Connecticut), and one of the best I've ever had
This is probably the mildest cigar made(Rocky Patel Connecticut). A little too mild for my taste. A good morning cigar, with a little more flavor it could be a great cigar.
This is the smoothest smoke(Rocky Patel Connecticut) I've ever tried. You can inhale this puppy with no problem down to the nub. This is the mildest cigar I've ever tried and it smokes the exact same from the start to the finish. Outstanding construction and cool clean burn. Rocky has another outstanding cigar for those who like extremely mild cigars.
Dumb me! I knew I should have ordered more (Rocky Patel Connecticut)! I first tried this in a sampler package last summer. I thoght I liked it so I bought some more. you just can't beat Rocky! Especially when you get them at a steal!
What a smoke !! This gem (Rocky Patel Connecticut) smokes like some of the $10 and up smokes I have tried. Great smoke, even better price. Tastes good, smells good, silky as velvet and doesn't leave that nasty after taste in your mouth like some cheaper made cigars do.
The aroma of this cigar (Rocky Patel Connecticut) just captures you. If you like a milder cigar that has an outstanding aroma, this cigar is "the one"! It is one of the BEST I've ever smoked!!!!!
I really enjoy mild smokes, and this is one of the best I've had. I got an e-mail weekly sampler and this was my favorite stick in the bunch. Great job and keep up the good work!
(Rocky Patel Connecticut) Killer smoke! And to think it's selling for less than 5 bucks, thats also a steal.

Rocky Patel Connecticut

The more one smokes cigars, generally speaking the more one tends to gravitate toward strength and complexity over time. I guess that's natural, just like beer, wine, coffee or anything else - as you get more sucked in your palate evolves and you explore the boundaries. Thing is, mellow cigars never really get fantastic ratings or wild-eyed reviews because most of the people who write that stuff, subconsciously or not, seem to give less weight to tame smokes. Maybe it's machismo, maybe it's group-think, who knows. If you read reviews of micro-brews you tend to see stouts and Belgians get more high praise than lagers do. But of course there are great lagers out there - and you can't compare apples to oranges anyway.

That brings me to the Connecticut by Rocky Patel. To be sure, Rocky is known for full-bodied cigars. Most of his blends - whether it be his Indian Tabac lines such as Super Fuerte, Cameroon Legend, or Maduro, or his Rocky Patel series such as RP Vintage, RP Sun Grown, or The Edge - are complex cigars that lean toward the fuller-flavored side. This is very different, and it all started last August. I was in Danli with Rocky, and I asked him to develop an easy going blend for CI with a Connecticut-shade wrapper to be called Rocky Patel Connecticut (he claims now that it was all his idea, but Scout's Honor, that's the way it happened). Rocky, his sidekick Nimish "The Hindu Prince," and I each smoked about 35 samples on that trip before settling on this particular blend. Now 8 months later, the shipment has arrived and it was well worth the wait.

First of all, it's really pretty. The Connecticut wrapper is nice and smooth, the band elegant and simple, the box beautiful with its gold cliche logo, nothing ornate. That's just how the cigar smokes: elegant and not ornate. The blend is tame from head to toe, with a pleasant, slightly creamy taste - no dips and valleys, it's utterly consistent and unchanging from the moment you put the flame to it right up until the moment you lay down the nub. It's flavorful but not over the top, not overly complex, not bursting with flavor. In essence, it's got a clean, crisp tobacco taste, simple as that. Me likey. The most startling thing about it is the ash, it's as firm as concrete. In fact, burning my first RP Connecticut the ash was well over 2" - to pre-empt the ashheap from hitting my lap I decided to tap it off. But "break it off" was more like it. Amazing. Overall one of the top mellow cigars I've had recently.

Yes, I know...I just did a write-up on the Rocky Patel Sun Grown. What can I say, Rocky makes some phenomenal cigars, and I am enjoying each new line that he’s come out with. Every time I crack open a box of Vintage, I know exactly what to expect from each cigar found inside. The same goes for the Sun Grown and the Edge, and Rocky’s latest creation, the Connecticut, is no different. The only twist, it’s mellow! excellent change of pace from the fuller bodied blends, a la Sun Grown, 92 and Edge.

When we first received samples of this new line, I was ecstatic – it’s absolutely gorgeous and the flavors follow suit. Since I just finished my samples and the experience is fresh in my mind, I’ll cut right to the chase and explain the flavor. Connecticut generates an abundance of ultra-smooth, earthy notes that coat your palate to the nub. It’s just that simple. There are no hints of leather, no notes of white pepper, and although I tried my hardest, red wine and floral nuances could not be found. Nope, none. Just a clean, crisp earthiness, coating my palate in a smooth, velvety manner. Exactly how a premium, mellow to medium bodied Honduran should smoke. The aftertaste seems to last forever after each puff, allowing you to fully enjoy the genuine flavors produced by quality Honduran tobaccos. The wrapper does its job well, taming the blend into a sit back ‘n relax, mellow strength that can be enjoyed anywhere, any time, any day. And quality hardly comes into play. Rocky Patel is on the ball, and each roll is perfect. There’s nothing more I can really say about this cigar. It’s solid in every aspect. If you enjoy Rocky’s cigars and want a nice, relaxing cigar to break the monotony of your full bodied selection, this cigar is an absolute must.
