PDR gets Infused

At the 2018 IPCPR trade show, PDR Cigars celebrated its 15th anniversary and introduced its first line of coffee infused blends. The PDR 1878 Café line is an offshoot of the original PDR 1878 line, with three coffee infused blends that are based on one of the original 1878 blends. Today we take a look at PDR 1878 Medium Roast Café which is based on PDR 1878 Capa Sun Grown. 

It features an Ecuador Sun Grown wrapper over a Dominican binder and long-fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Many brands have put out coffee infused blends but what sets these apart is the use of real cane sugar in the infusion process which provides a nice touch sweetness to this medium-bodied blend. The coffee flavor is apparent in each puff, but it’s also subtle and never overpowering. We tried a couple of coffee infused blends at the show this year, and this one just may have been the best, I suggest giving it a try.

I love PDR cigars and this one is awesome, way better than Drew Estates Isla del sol. It is a smooth and mild smoke, great coffee flavor all the way to the nub.

If you are into a mild bodied smoke with an enjoyable sweet taste and pleasant aroma, the PDR 1878 Medium Roast Cafe Cigar needs to become a regular in your collection. Fantastic quality start to finish. I would highly recommend this product AND purchasing from Cigars International as their inventory is plenty, pricing is fair, and shipping is timely.

These were a pretty good smoke. All burned even, and held the ash pretty good. Well made and packaged with crumbled tobacco leaves. Nice in appearance and good flavor. Not a Java (brand) but does have some coffee flavor.

The first light up puff is over powering. Leaves a After taste that’s so sweet almost wanted to Butt it out. About 1/2 burn it settled down a little. I bought two boxes on sale. If you like swisher sweets and the like these are right down your alley. Would not Order them again even on a close out price.

When I first got them they were a little dry even the loose tobacco in the box. I am always anxious to try a new cigar so I smoked one it was to dry not much flavor. so I put them all in my humidor and waited a few days. I had seen a pigtail before but the foot was new to me. I use a punch not a cutter to get more flavor. you really have to roast the foot before you can draw on it It is now one of my favorites because I love the coffee infused cigars.
