Punch Rare Corojo

Going, going, going, going...

Going fast indeed. The Punch Rare Corojo cigar always disappears in a wink. In all honesty, sometimes I wonder why I even bother putting it in the catalog or online, since it's gone before I know it. The key to this cigar is its unique, burgundy-colored Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in the natural mountain mist of Ecuador. Its extra rich flavor, complemented by a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican long-filler tobaccos, then square-pressed in shape, make these robust, heady smokes a real treat.

Punch Rare Corojo received a well-deserved 92-rating noting: "This rouge-hued robusto is silky and box-pressed. The smoke is rich and aromatic, complementing flavors of leather and wood. It has notes of cherry and a fine finish."

Note: Punch Rare Corojo is currently undergoing a packaging update. We will not be allowing backorders on this old packaging. New packaging will be available soon.

Awesome cigars
Great smokes. Bought one of these at my local store and was so satisfied I went on here and bought a box. I have smoked about 7 and all of them smoked even and were the right density as far as being loose or tight. They pull like a dream and the champions are super comfortable for the mouth since they taper down at the head. They burn for about 30-40 minutes, perfect for a good walk with the dog or a commute. Will certainly buy another box.

A Good Deal On An Excellent Cigar
Wow ... what a sweet deal I got from Cigars International. They sell these crystal for fifty bucks more everywhere else. Throw in 10 Punch Pita and a 20 percent off promo code. The cigar is nice. Really has a good looking reddish brown wrapper with some veins. Burns slow cool and even. Good draw. Smooth medium body. Has a complex flavor mix of cedar and toasty bread. Comes in a beautiful box with wooden sleeved shelves and each cigar is in a cool glass tube. I shop around before I buy and this is among the best bargains I have purchased.

Punch Rare Corojo
My husband really enjoyed these cigars, and while they are not his favorite, he did ask me to order them for him again in the future when they are on sale...something different for him to smoke and share with our brother-in-law!!!

Best short cigar ever. Better than Hemingway short stories
Wow. For short cigars they’re tasty and last surprisingly long. My go to short cigar but it’s still 35 min smoke.

I had never tried these cigars before, but took a leap of faith based on the stellar reviews that I read. Wow! These Punch Rare Corojo cigars are fantastic. The aroma and taste is second to none and you don't want the end to come. It is that good.

Great from start to finish
I've been smoking the Punch Rare Corojo Magnun for years, and have not grown tired of it. For those who like somewhere between a medium and full bodied smoke, this cigar delivers from start to finish. Plus, the box pressed shape feels great in my hand.

Odd shape
Did not care for the odd shape of the cigar. I believe I like the Diablo better as it is a consistent ring size.

Great smoke. Poor choice in shape
Punch make a great cigar. The blend for this cigar is a little lighter than what I usually prefer but has a good mix to its flavor. However, the shape of champion was poor choice on my end. It’s too small of a cigar lacking the ring gage. The largest part of the cigar if consistent would make it a more enjoyable smoke.

One of My Favs
The Punch Rare Corojo in Rothchild is a well made, consistent, box pressed cigar with plenty of flavor. Medium to full in strength, it is a densely packed cigar. To look at it, you thing you’ll get maybe a half hour out of it if you’re lucky. But I routinely enjoy one for 45 to 50 minutes. I always keep these on hand, and they always deliver.

Punch Rare Corojo Champion
I had one of these at the local cigar bar. I was looking for something different and chose this perfecto/figuardo shaped beauty! I really enjoyed it so I purchased a 5-pack from CI and let them sit in my humidor for a 2-3 weeks. I pulled a few out last week and they were wonderful! This is a nice medium bodied, earthy, nutty, complex and smooth cigar right down to the nub. I really like perfecto/figuardo type cigars but the one complaint I have on some of them is an uneven burn or sometimes a tough draw...not with this cigar! Perfect burn, great draw and taste! Highly recommend for something a little different. Also, don't be fooled by the short length. It actually takes about 30 minutes to smoke because after you get past the first 1/3 of an inch from the foot, you get to the 60 ring gauge section of the cigar. So if you want a quick-ish smoke to enjoy before dinner or when you have more time than what it would take to smoke a Nub from Oliva but not enough time to smoke a toro or churchill, this is your cigar!

My Favorite Punch
I like Punch cigars for their quality consistency and reliability. My favorite is the Rare Corojo. Medium-Full bodied, with a rich dark flavor, the Rare Corojo is a substantial smoke. It is well made, heavy in the hand, burns well, and gives good smoke output. I get about an hour out of the Pita (Toro), and it is an hour well spent. Highly recommended.

A classic favorite
Over the years, this once 5-star cigar has lost a subtle bit of quality to its competitors. Regardless, it is still a fine smoke, and will remain dear to my heart for the memories we have shared.

Is missing on my orders from CI. I have made 5 purchases and when they're good they're great. While I have not given up on them, my reorder frequency has shifted from buying from CI to buying from a comptitor.

PITA, SI- 2X Corona- not so much!
The Pita smokes are excellent, with typical RC box cut, flavor and excellent draw. Unfortunately this batch of Double Coronas is harsh. Last night's smoke was "plugged", a rare event for a Rare Corojo, rescued by turning to another Pita... For years I've enjoyed the RC smooth taste and overall design. This year's product is a disappointment.

My Favorite Punch
This is not only my favorite Punch cigar, but my favorite cigar, period. The Rare Corojo's are superb. Construction is flawless, the wrapper is perfect, and the flavor profile is consistent - cream, wood, and chocolate. The smoke is heavy and chewy. The Pita is the perfect size for me. It doesn't get any better than this.

A fine wide gauge rich smoke
Bought these specifically for aging in my long term humidor. I've checked in on them periodically and the oily, rich, bodies are thriving. If the scent is any indicator (and it usually is) these babies are going to be phenomenal.

I thought the punch pita's were a bit on the dry side when I recevied them. The shipping seems longer then usual probably due to the holidays. After letting them sit in my humidor for a week to 10 days they seemed much fresher as always a good smoke.

Good quick smoke
Smoked three of the five I ordered and all three have been excellent. I have two small children and am out o town a lot so when I'm home I want to spend time with both of them and my wife but still enjoy some quiet time for a good smoke. They were a medium bodied smoke that was about 45 min. Really enjoyed and will purchase again

Cigar Awesomeness!
Firstly, CI is the only internet sote I would order cigars from. That said this cigar is totally first rate...smooth and easy on the draw...slow burning... fantastic flavor and awesome aroma. A little pricey , BUT I've paid more (especially Cubans...out of Switzerland ) and the fact is you get what you pay for...pay cheap get cheap...pay better get better ! Last word on the Punch Rare Corojo Rothschild is that it is the only cigar I'd want if I were shipwrecked ! LOL

Exquisite Cigar!!
I have tried many cigars over the years, from inexpensive to extremely expensive, and have NEVER given a full 5 star or 10 rating to any of them prior to this. Customer Testimonials
Great go-to, everyday smoke. Smooth, flavorful, fine draw and even burn. The box pressed adds a nice feel. I have been smoking these gems for months and I have not had a bad smoke yet.
Perfect size, great flavor! A highly underrated cigar!
My 1st real cigar was a Punch Rothschild many, many years ago. Back when all the former Cuban manufacturers were setting up shop in The Dominican Republic with smuggled Cuban seeds. Back then, they all took a turn for the milder. Except one. Punch used Honduran & Nicaraguan tobaccos to keep a Cubanesque profile, as well as most of the former strength. I was sold. Many years later Punch introduced me to the joys of the Corojo leaf. Enter Punch Rare Corojo. I was hooked. Although I have had many other Corojo cigars since then, I can tell a Rare Corojo after a few puffs. Consistency, affordability, quality. That's Punch.
There are so many cigars to try, it makes my head spin. Truth is there are some stand outs, this is one of those gems you keep in the humidor.
I've just started smoking cigars and I've been trying different brands and styles for the past several months. This cigar was by far the nicest smoke that I've tried! It started with the beautiful packaging; a red velvet lined cedar box with each cigar suspended on a platform. The cigar itself is impressive, a nice deep brown patina with a very nice shape. The cigar smokes very smooth and burns absolutely perfect. It was never harsh, even at the very end. I would buy this cigar over and over again. As a matter of fact I smoked 2 of them today while playing golf.
These mild cigars are great for a quick smoke.
Great cigar, no issues.
Without a doubt, the best cigar I have ever smoked. If I hit the lottery I am filling my new walk in humidor with boxes of these babies! I am not a fan of any other Punch smoke, but this one does it for me. I can just sit out on the deck with one of the El Doble and a great cup of coffee and just let my day melt away.
Punch makes THE BEST Cigars on Planet earth! If a flying saucer landed in my pasture and they asked for the best cigar I knew of, it would be one of these!
I really like these cigars. They burn true, have a nice draw and taste great. Buy them and you will not be disappointed.
The Pita, my "go to" smoke. Never had a bad one. I enjoy these puppies till my fingers get hot. Always in my humidor!
I read in some cigar snob rag that these are not "true corojos". Don't care. They're real good, that's all I know. Great value, too. Cheap enough to be a daily smoke, good enough to share w/ friends.
Don't know if I can say I've had a bad Punch. Then I had one of the Rare Corojo Champions. Took a while to get used to the odd shape, but was loaded with flavor and the burn was perfect. Well worth a try if you're a Punch fan or just enjoy a quality smoke.
Love the flavor so I bought a box. I'm disappointed because at least one in four have a draw so tight that I have to throw it out. Maybe I got a bad box but they are too expensive for me to take a chance on another box. Love my MOW. Not a bad one in the box!
By far, one of the best cigars made outside of Cuba! Great flavor, burn and draw. Strong from the first light down to the nub. Couldn't put it down until my fingers started to burn. Great with single malt scotch, port or brandy. Not for the light-hearted. Rated a 10!
This is the best Punch cigar ever made. It is strong and complex. I have some of these aged for years and they never lose their strength and complexity. Made once a year so you must buy them.
i understand this is wrapped in a equadorion wrapper , not a corojo. no matter, it does taste like a corojo wrapped cigar. this was a fine medium to full body cigar. light spice, earthy coffee undertones and smooth to the nub. i rate it a solid 90.
The Punch Rare Corojo is a wonderful smoke. I have only been smoking the various Punch blends for about 18 months, and I like the Rare Corojo and the Gran Puro the best. Both are rich and tasty, solid middle-weights with good balance. This year, I am going to try a recommendation and let a box age for a year - that is if I can keep my hands off of them that long. Highly recommended.
Without doubt, my favourite Punch.(Punch Rare Corojo) Wonderful flavour, excellent draw and burn. Just a fine cigar.
The best description for this smoke is Velvet, as it is so smooth and rich (Punch Rare Corojo). I recently had a few at a friends house and heard someone complain about cigar smoke. I laid one of these bad boys on him and now he owns two humidors. I will always have these in my humidor alongside customs and Cubans.
I just have to say I would smoke these all the time if I could The Punch Corojo Rare has got to be one of the best I've smoked, and thanks to CI I've been able to sample top shelf more than before with that other place ( that thinks it's in competion), and my favorite little shop.
I just had my first Punch Rare Corojo. Smooth, even burning, good flavor. I enjoyed it a lot. I will smoke more for sure. I wouldn't say it is a thrilling smoke so if you are looking to have your socks knocked off this ain't it. However it is a good easy, smooth, enjoyable smoke. Sort of like eating comfort food.
The Punch Rare Corojo Magnum is as smooth a smoke that can be found. Even burn, nice draw and absolutely no bite. Mellow taste with a pleasing aroma. I don't think it can be beat for the price.
Punch Rare Corojo- Magnum. First time I ever smoked one of these and will be coming back for more! Beautiful looking cigar with a perfect burn. medium to full bodied with consistent flavor that is true the whole way through. Yummy!
Without a doubt one of the best stogies ever (Punch Rare Corojo). The box pressed shape sits perfect in your fingers. The flavors that poured out of this stick were incredible and the burn and draw were superb. Treat yourself right now to one of these, who cares what the wife says, and you can thank me later.
The PRC (Punch Rare Corojo) Rothschild is a very nice "go to" stick. Burn, draw, appearance, taste, taste of wrapper, coolness of smoke, all those categories are very well satisfied. Notable item (in addition to a super taste) - the silver-gray ash stays on and intact very, very well. Only criticism I could offer is the smoke volume was, for me personally, just "moderate", and that could have been something applicable to just the three I smoked rather than the cigars on average. This is a cigar that will convert the occasional or "something-different-every-week" smoker to having a "favorite".
I don't normally care for Punch, but I was given a coffin El Doble and to my great surprise loved it. Had it with a glass of Weller, and the flavors that popped out of the cigar and whiskey combination were astounding. I'm a CAO fan through and through, but this was one of the tastier cigars I've had in a long time. I don't know if it was the cigar or the whiskey, or the combination but tastes of vanilla, cocoa, and almond. Surprisingly not harsh, never hot, great draw. Relit it for the last 3 inches after dinner and it got a little tough for the first inch but mellowed.

Punch Rare Corojo

Steve R

I never quite understood why the Punch Rare Corojo is called, Punch Rare Corojo. After all, the wrapper is not Corojo. Rather, this box-pressed handmade sports a dark, oily Sumatra leaf from Ecuador. A head-scratcher indeed. Whatever the case may be, the Rare Corojo can be considered rare, since production is limited to just once per year, hitting retail shelves mid-to-late Spring.

A few years ago, we couldn’t keep this brand in stock. We would literally sell out within days, even before our catalog arrived in the customer’s mailbox. Boy, did we receive our share of hatemail! Fortunately, along with the addition of a new 6” x 60 El Doble size, production seems to have been juiced up a bit, making the Rare Corojo more readily available.

Punch is produced in the Villazon factory, a facility known for consistency and quality. The Rare Corojo is a step up from the traditional blend, featuring a rich, reddish Sumatra wrapper and robust tobaccos from Nicaragua, Honduras and the Dominican. Fresh out of the box, each cigar performs wonderfully. Slow, cool burns that run straight as an arrow and a draw that’s just right. The flavor, on the other hand, needs some time to mature.

Because of this, I forced myself to learn a little trick. Buy a box, sit on it for a year until the next release, then smoke it. In the meantime, buy a new box from the current production and repeat the process. It’s a chore, but worth it when you compare the flavor after a year-long nap. Given the right amount of time, these tobaccos marry to form a smooth, medium-bodied smoke that’s rich in hearty flavors, including subtle hints of wood and leather. The sharp, peppery notes mold into a subtle spice on the aftertaste, allowing me to appreciate the chewy flavors with each puff. Overall, it becomes better balanced, with a more gradual transition between flavors.

It’s inconvenient, and for that it suffers in the rating department. But, it won’t stop me from picking up a box each year.
