The gentler side of Grand Cru.First there was Grand Cru, a rare blend utilizing only the finest hand-selected tobaccos from Nick Perdomo's 2004 crop. Proving to be an excellent year, Nick Perdomo planned a new crop in 2006 to carry the torch forward. Enter the next phase of Grand Cru cigars, Grand Cru 2006.The Grand Cru Connecticut is the tamest of the new line, but thanks to its well-balanced blend, manages to strike up some big-time flavors. Draped in a seamless Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, and chock full of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-fillers, each puff is creamy, cool and satisfying. But the real secret to this blend lies in the aged core, which is set down for a long 9 month nap in Spanish cedar aging rooms prior to rolling. Each puff reveals a mellow to medium-bodied handmade brimming with hints of cedar, cream, coffee, and a long smooth finish. Crafted into a stout 60-ring gauge, the Grand Cru 2006 Connecticut is another fine cigar from Tabacalera Perdomo.
While on a trip from Davenport Ia. to D.C. I made a trek to the Hamburg superstore. Amazing place I wish I could have stayed longer. I picked up two of the Grand Cru 6-60. I wish I had bought a box. This is a tasty gordo to say the least. Nice ash, smooth burn, no bite. As I type I am finishing the nub of one. Now I will be trying the other sizes. Do yourself a favor and try it, you won't be disappointed.
