Sosa

Sosa Cigars: top-notch brand, dirt cheap CI price.

With nearly 100 years of tradition in the cigar industry - including a strong presence in Cuba during the glory days - the Sosa Family has a lot to be proud of. So don't let my massively discounted deal on their lovely bundled line tarnish that name one bit. Because, well, it's indicative of nothing about the cigars. Nothing, besides the fact that I bought a container load of Sosa cigars at a discount. And now I'm passing along the savings. That's all. The cigars are delicious, no doubt. But now, they're much, much cheaper.

Sosa is medium-bodied, extremely smooth, and very flavorful. That's complements of a well-blended combination of aged tobaccos including a dark, oily maduro wrapper leaf and a blend of Dominican and Honduran long-fillers. Notes of earth, cocoa, pepper, and sweetness are present, along with a rich tobacco core. In sum, an easy-going cigar that's loaded with flavor. A cigar you'll enjoy burning over and over again. And at my nutty prices, you can afford to.

Good smoke for the money
I like these cigars, and for the price, they are a good everyday smoke. They are mild for the most part; however, in the beginning, they can be a bit harsh.

Great Budget
Great Budget- Great Smoke. It's a smooth medium with a slow even burn and lots of smoke ! I'll always keep these in my personal stock. Great value. You will not be disappointed

Not very smooth.
I probably need to give Sosa it’s due for the money but stacked up against other cigars for the same money I won’t order them again.

Great everyday cigar that burns even and well.

Sosa Churchill
I found the draw to be a bit restricted on a few of these cigars in the first third, but otherwise they burn evenly. They are flavorful and complex - an excellent value.

The pick of the CI cigar range.
I've tried heaps of great cigars from CI and keep coming back to the Sosa belicoso as the pick of the bunch. Tried it when on special but is worth it at any price CI offer it at. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor.

Needs improvement
The flavor profile is really good, but the problem was many were just too tight a draw or altogether plugged. Maybe it was just the batch I got but just hate having to toss out a smoke, probably wont buy again.

Sosa is medium-bodied, extremely smooth, and very flavorful. Dark, oily wrapper. An easy-going cigar that's loaded with flavor.

Sosa Belicoso
Overall they’re a good cigar they have a good flavor the only knack I would give them is I’m not big on pepperAnd they do have a strong hint of pepper since I’m not big on pepper to taste they’re not the cigar for me but for those who like peppery taste I say there a good smoke

Surprised it was so good
It was a very full body cigar with a lot of rich Tabacco taste- It had little bit of spice it burned cool and even -nice draw- I’m sorry it was discontinued-but for the price it was really a nice experience.

SOSA for the win
I purchased this cigar in bulk to have at my homecoming tailgate. I hate when people waste my good cigars, so I came prepared with cigars I wouldn't mind giving away. Boy was I surprised by this cigar. It had great flavor and burned perfectly!

Sosa Belicoso
Pretty good smoke. The only problem was the wrapper. No matter how I cut it, it would start to unwrap.
3 out of 5
Good but not great
The Sosa Churchill was a great value, but an average smoke. Taste is good, and most of them burned fairly clean, avoiding dense blockages of many more premium cigars. At the same price I would gladly but them again.
5 out of 5
I like Sosas but...
these Churchill's have a tough draw and are difficult to keep lit. I've had six of the 20 purchased and so far each manifested the same problem. Shorter Sosa's have been terrific. Maybe the 7" length is too great. I cut some in half and they were fine with the exception of the wrapper coming loose.

Ok cigar.
Ok cigar for price. Not as tasty as some in price range but easy draw makes for an ok smoke.
3 out of 5
Not too bad
The price is amazing. Period. I smoked a couple too early, right after arriving, and they disappointed me. But after a couple wks in the humidor, I had one and was pleasantly surprised. Bottom line, these smokes need some time.

Excellent Value
A great cigar for whatever the occasion. It's a great daily smoker or to enhance your whisky experience. Great dark wrapper and a pleasant draw to pretty much the end of the cigar. I would recommend this cigar to anyone.

Wow, these are really good.
I got these on special so decided to try them. Churchills are a little big for me but it's what was on sale. Wow, these are really good. I'm very surprised at the smoothness and the consistent construction. I'll certainly be buying these in the future but, perhaps the smaller version.

Disappointed in the Sosa Belicoso cigar. Its a raspy smoke. Hard on the throat. Would not do this again! Its going to be a long time getting thru this batch!

Love this smoke, only reason for a 3 star is because this shipment starts to unravel after the cut . Otherwise a good smoke

Sosa...Smooth
The Sosa cigars that I received were smooth mild to medium smokes. Like most cigars, they like going into the homier for a week of two, to be at their best. The cigars that I received are a very good value.

Well worth the money
I’ve purchased these several times. Overall, satisfying. Probably no awards but for the budget minded, cannot go wrong.

Good flavor unfortunately, they tended to burn poorly.
Almost every stick burned in the middle, outrunning the edges.

A surprising "sleeper" cigar - it's good!
Ignore any negative reviews - I've ordered these three or four times now and have never been disappointed. Smooth flavor, consistently good burn, good draw, good construction, surprisingly good price. Every friend I've shared these with loves them, some have even ordered on their own after trying mine. This cigar is a surprise hit - the Sosas out-perform a number of higher-end cigars. Just try them.

So-So
This cigar smokes evenly and is milder than I anticipated. It is enjoyable, but nothing to write home about. The sole disappointment is that the outer wrapper comes lose when to cut the top off. I tried three different cutters obtaining the same result.

Decent Cigars
Bought 3 bundles for our annual hunting trip because of the sale price and the reviews The hunting groups consensus was that they were a pretty decent cigar . Good burn , good construction, and a good smoke. As always CI delivered a good cigar at a good price.

Awesome
These sticks are way beyond their price. Could easily hold their own with cigars costing five times as much.

Good price, good construction, a little harsh.
The price is right for the smoke you get. I’ll buy again.

Decent Maduro
I like them a lot but not much better than my usual Palma Real----I would buy them again if the price is right.

Good smoke. Worth the buy
Good smoke. Worth the buy as it was on clearance. A little inconsistent in the roll. Some are way to tight for my liking but overall very nice.
3 out of 5
Good smoke for the price
It is good for the price. Some of the cigars are poorly built and unraveled after you cut. The ones that don't are actually a good smoke. One thing I noticed is that my humidor was about 80 in some point and it seems the taste improved. I've found that the Sosa tastes better from half to the end, which was somehow unexpected. I'd buy them again.

Sosa Belicoso Maduro
Smoking a Sosa belicoso maduro was a pleasant experience. Well rolled with a good draw and a slow, cool and even burn. A mix of delicious flavors of cedar wood, nuts, cocoa and coffee. Stayed mild to medium throughout the entire burn down to a nub. Glad I made the purchase, and so should you.

Sosa Churchill Retirement Cigar
The Sosa cigar will not let you down. It was my first smoke of the Sosa brand and I just may have to buy more before they are all gone. Smooth taste from the start and 30 minutes later is still going strong. As the smoke disappears, my only thought is I should have sooner. Great job on cigars Sosa!

Doesn't Act like a cheap cigar
I could time the burn out every time ( 1hr 10 min from lighting it to having an inch left). The first cigar I felt like I paid too little for. Taste was mild and didn't leave an after taste. Really good brand for the money

Great tasting cigar. Just wish they didn't resemble a salad when you smoke them. Wrappers and caps keep coming apart.

THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING THESE.
ON EVERY SINGLE CIGAR, AFTER IT WAS CUT THE WRAPPER WOULD START TO FALL APART AT THE HEAD. EVEN MAKING A SMALL CUT IT WAS THE SAME THING. THAT'S THE ONLY REASON FOR 2 STARS.. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS A GOOD SMOKE.

Disappointed
I was very disappointed in these cigars. The draw was very hard to the point that my jaw started to hurt I started off with a punch and then use my guillotine to cut off the end which did not improve the draw at all. The burn was very uneven and it was very difficult to keep lit. The second one was just as bad overall I am very disappointed in this cigar.

Fantastic cigar for a bargin bin price. I'm half way through my bundle and they have been everything you want out of a great cigar. The burn, contruction, ash, and flavor are all there. Highly recommend these sticks.

Those that smoke are good.
1 out of 3 are virtually unsmokable. They fall apart or won't draw. Factor that into price. If you buy a 20 pack you are really getting around 13 good cigars.
1 out of 5
Ugh!!!
This is another Maduro with that burning Diesel fuel aroma mixed with a burning plastic milk jug odor. I was about to think my sense of smell was off, but with the more expensive Maduro cigars I don't get this aroma. The more expensive Maduro cigars taste and smell like a Maduro cigar is supposed to.... very nice coffee and cocoa aroma. I have become very weary of cheap Maduro cigars because of this burning diesel fuel aroma that can be very offensive.

I have purchased Sosa cigars many times, and have never been disappointed. If you haven't tried them, you need to.
2 out of 5
Good but...
These are very tasty, even burn, white firm ash. The only reason I don't give these 4 stars is half of them fell apart while smoking. And some the cap came off when cutting it. I moisten the cap and use a punch cutter carefully and the will stay together. That said, probably won't buy again unless they are on sale cheap

Too Damn Dry!!!
I think you need to up the humidity in your vaults. After smoking 4 out of 20, 2 of the wrappers(so far) have literally fell apart. the cigar still smoked ok but to have to constantly watch a cigar isn't for me. I prefer to light up and enjoy instead of having to watch to see what my cigars are doing.

Excellent value!
Can't go wrong with Sosa. Not the best cigar on the market, but most certainly one of my top 3 under $10 per stick. And for less than $2, I'll keep as many as I have room for!! Love this cigar! Definitely takes a predominant slot in my everyday rotation! Get some while they're cheap and bundled, I can't fathom them being available very long at this price...

Sosa maduro belicoso
Sosa maduro belicoso Michael Flores The appearance and construction of these cigars I bought in a bundles looks great, the flavor lacks complexity. Flavor is everything to me in a cigar. In the future, I am sticking to my favorite bundled cigar, the Casa de Garcia maduro.

Mediocre to poor
Barely any smoke, need to double or triple puff to get anything out. I like plenty of smoke in my cigars. Got tempted by the price and marketing shtick, but in reality not worth your precious cigar time. And I did try several, so it's not the once in a while dud. Quite disappointed.

Sosa Belicoso A-okay
I'm now half way through my second bundle of 20. The flavor is excellent for the price range. There've been no plugs, though some have been slightly snug on the draw. Also, some have been slightly uneven burning, but manageable with a re-light. All in all, an excellent smoke for the price - I plan on keeping a few in my humidor.

Clear winner. You won't be disappointed
My favourite smoke. Clean draw, lots of billowing smoke, distinct unique flavour not found in other smokes but easily identifiable as a 'Sosa'. Love them. Wish I'd bought more when they were on super special

Love them
Love these cigars. These are my absolute favorite cigar to smoke. I don't know why I just tend to like them over any other cigar I have ever smoked... period. I will grab one of these out of my humidor before I grab a cigar that cost double these. That's enough said.

Disappointed
I am disappointed with these... While they have a nice even burn the construction has been bad. Out of the 5 or 6 I've smoked so far they all unwrapped and the draw was OK then was very hard to draw about a 3rd of they way into it. I've tossed them in the fire pit except for one!! A real bummer......

Mixed feelings!
I had high hopes for these Sosa based on past experience but I have to say I am disappointed so far! The flavor is good but the wrapper has been draw has been tough and the wrapper have been dry and they have come apart with the first few!! Maybe some time in the humidor will cure that I hope??!!??

Try This One ! ! !
I'm down to two of these Sosa torpedoes left from a bundle of twenty I received some time ago. I believe they were a Joe's Daily Deal thing. I know I detect more well rounded - good solid tobacco flavor out of these compared to some Churchill size Sosa's I smoked several months ago. Nice draw and straight burn line too !

Just because these are at a low price point, don't make the mistake that they are not good. This cigar has tons of flavor, and smokes perfectly. I always have a couple bundles of these resting in a humidor, and I'm sure you will too after trying them. A great cigar and value.

Best Deal on CI !!
White Ash over 2 inchs.Consistant Flavor profiles in every 1/3 of the cigar. Burn is perfect have smoked a full 20 bundle with zero issues. Draw on a Belicoso can be changed simply by cutting farther or closer to the head. Research Sosa this brands founder & father Manages & blends very high end cigars. Im have humidors full of above $10 each smokes. This is my prefered go to because its A Absolutly OUTSTANDING value.. I just finished my order of 10 bundles because I can't see these being this cheap for long.

Taste great, too easy of a draw.
Let me start out by saying the price is very, very good on these cigars and for a somewhat mild blend, I prefer bolder, they taste very good. The only complaint I have with this cigar is that the draw is just too easy.

Sampler purchase
I recently purchased a sampler offer from Cigars International. Among the samples was a Sosa Robusto. It was the best of the package of a lot of more expensive cigars. The taste, even burning and the loads of smoke were great. It was so good that I ordered a box of them. When they are gone I will order more. GREAT CIGAR One of the other cigars in the package was a Diesel, and it was the worst cigar of the lot. When opened it fell apart so bad that it was unusable. I saved it to return but don't think it is worth the effort. Don't blame my humidor either because all the others are stored in the same humidor and none of them were a problem.

picked up a box of toros....very oily toothy maduro wrapper and well made sticks. smoked one off the truck and it was decent. 2 weeks later smoked another and MUCH improved. given a little down time these become excellent smokes filled with cocoa nd woodsy flavors. one of if not the best value smoke you will find anywhere.

For the price!
For the $ you could spend on a really good cigar, the Sosa's have a really good bang for your buck. They are a really good $2 cigar, nice wrap, medium robust and are a great every day cigar for kicking around the house and I have tried a lot of bad $2 cigars!

Ha
I have been an avid cigar smoker for about twenty five years now. I have had the opportunity to smoke most of the cigars available from CI from the very reasonable to the very expensive. This has been my cigar of choice for the last four months now. They are very consistent in construction, burn and flavor. They are medium in strength and to my taste a mostflavorful and enjoyable smoke. I would honestly say I have enjoyed well over a hundred of these with only one or two issues with construction or taste. I cannot say that about any other cigar that I have sampled. Recommended without any reservations.

Customer Testimonials
These are consistently good cigars, generally well constructed and they burn well. No complaints!
Just got a bundle of the maduro belicoso and would have to say this is one of the better 2.00 'gars I have smoked. Easy draw, tons of spicy smoke, good all the way to my burnt fingers.
Great cigar at a great price. Medium to full body, easy draw and great flavor. Buy 'em; you can't go wrong!!
Really smooth flavor, excellent construction & burn, smooth draw, very consistent.... No negatives to speak of.
Got a bundle of these Churchills along with G.A.R. Reds in the same order. Compared with the G.A.R. cigars the Sosas did not deliver either in flavor or construction. Going to steer away from these for a while.
A great cigar for the money. I routinely score these for less than $2.00 a stick and would recommend these. Better than some $5.00 smokes I have had. Don't hesitate to try a few; you will like them.
My first purchase from this site I included Sosa Toro. I love the smell and found it a great smoke. It burns well and the taste lasts throughout the cigar. Today I bought it again.
I got a couple of these about a week ago. Smoked one and it had a tight draw and the smoke output from the draw was very little. It got a little better after a bit but not too great. The taste was good and so was the smell. Maybe the second one will be better after some aging. Not totally giving up on this one.
Got me a bundle the other day and I was pleasantly surprised. Having smoked over 200 different brands in the last couple of years I know what I like, and I like these. Usually you can say that you get what you pay for, but in this case we have a diamond in the rough. Love the flavors and the consistency of the sticks, can only recommend others to try them as well.
Tried my first Sosa churchill, a little bit on the mild side for my taste. But the quality and construction was outstanding. Used a punch to cut and had great results. Nice shiny wrapper and burned perfect. Worth a try if you like a mild to medium smoke.
Great smoke, burns evenly to the end never having to relight. Wife liked the aroma...will buy more!
After reading so many of the positive comments about this cigar I ordered a bundle of robustos from Joe Cigar and was quite pleased with this pick. I'm always looking for a go to maduro with ample flavor and no bite, something I can smoke with no reservations. Well I've found it. This is a really good cigar with plenty of good attributes. This cigar has it all, aroma, smoke volume, flavor and price.... I'm on my third bundle and will be ordering these until they stop making them.
I find them fairly tasty for what they are. Not all, but the vast majority simply have a really thin wrapper. Fairly noted as medium body but with a bit more flavor than I would've thought. Not a bad occasional burner for $2ish a stick. They're an ok add-on to an order when ya want a passer-outer or yard gar. Curious about Sosa's other offerings. Smoke well!
bought the sosa sampler. third harvest is a very tasty smoke good burn & draw the sosa robusto i tried to smoke had very tight draw was totally unsmokable!!! disappointing to say the least, hope the second one is better...havn't tried the others yet!! so the jury is still out on this purchase/not c.i.'s fault : )
Fantastic cigar. This is top down one of my favorite cigars that I hold as high as Opus X, Padron and Cohibas. The only thing I wasn't too happy about was the order of Sosa Churchill's of this brand that is selling as 7x50. The cigar is definitely not a 7x50. But most likely a 7x48....
I used to pick up Sosa's back in the late '90's from their store at Disney World. Loved them then, but not so much with this bundle. They were an OK smoke. Decently made with so-so flavor. I'm sure the product has changed over time, but it could just be my palate that changed.
Got my bundle in today. I was very skeptical because of the price. My monthly cigar and bourbon budget rivals that of a luxury car note. I have humidors full of top shelf smokes from Ashton ESG, My Father, Davidoff, Fuente Opus X, La Glorias and countless others. I've been trying for a very long time to discover a good, inexpensive everyday smoke. Well, I think I just found it in the Sosa Churchill. It does have some construction issues as it tends to come apart a bit, but the burn is fairly even and the draw is nice. Medium body and good to very good taste. Good job CI. You definitely have a winner with this one.
Recently, I reviewed the Sosa Robusto. I liked 'em enough to order again, but when I went back to the Sosa product section I realized the churchills were on sale for $30 a mazo! Remembering the complaints others had about them coming apart, I ordered them anyway. They DO come apart at the cap, but only if you're not careful. I have a very sharp 5mm punch that I use to SLOWLY puncture the cap; too quick or forceful and the cap will slide right off. Take your time and you'll have a great smoke for just a buck-fifty. I'm ordering more!
First, the cigars. Sosa robustos are a good cigar. Flavorful & well constructed albeit a bit rustic. If you consider $2 a cigar very good. Now, if you happen to take advantage of the Bugatti lighter bonus deal, as I did, it's a helluva deal. I got the lighter I'd been wanting for 60% off list AND 20 good quality cigars, gratis. Since I discovered CI I've not gotten cigars anywhere else.
I got a couple in a sampler and really enjoyed them. I like peppery notes in my cigars, and the Sosa delivered as advertised. I will recommend them to my cigar club buddies.
Sosa Belicoso is a winner! Great construction, awesome draw, sooooo smooth. Can't beat the price for this high quality medium bodied smoke. Stock up now!!!
I don't think they are horrible tasting cigars, got a case of the churchills on special, but the are constructed poorly...the outer wrapper is just not done well and it comes apart no matter how gentle you snip the tip or punch it...leaving the band on helps but after that forget about it...if you are like me and smoke it to the bottom, it will totally come apart and leave you with a moist mess of tobacco to hold together if you want to bother...it's a shame because the flavors are rather good for the price. Sosa, please figure out how to wrap these puppies better if you want me to ever buy another case of your cigars again...I have some cheaper sticks than these that stay together without fail...so I don't get why you can't figure it out...
Sosa Belicoso is outstanding. Highly recommended.
I have tried over 110 different cigars/blends over the last two years and after trying this blend from Sosa, I wanted to add my '2 cents' to the Fan Mail group. The construction, smoke volume, and burn from the Sosa's I received was very, very good. The burn was almost razor sharp right down to the nub. I have smoked a number of much more expensive cigars that could not even do that very well. The taste of this cigar really appealed to me...a very smooth, nutty, maduro taste which increased towards the end. And remember, this is a sub 3 dollar smoke. There are many more expensive smokes in my humidors that I would like to replace with these. Thanks CI for bringing Sosa into your lineup. I will be buying more.
I really like the Sosa Churchill...except for one thing. I can't seem to keep the things from coming apart. After only a few minutes the wrapper seems to come adrift at the head and not just one a single cigar, but on every bloody one of the things! I really DO know how to clip a cigar and I've even used a punch, but they all seem to just come apart. I enjoy the flavour, etc.; it's a really nice cigar. I 'solved' the problem by leaving the band on (something I don't usually do) and only smoking it down that far. Without the construction problem, I'd doubtless nub the thing. To show I'm not just a 'one-try-wonder', I'm going to buy another bundle of them and if it keeps happening, that will be it. Pleasant thing to smoke, though.
Got a bundle of these on an E-Mail special. They're quite good tasting, burn even (typically) and did'nt cost so much I was in danger of annihilating my monthly cigar budget! I got the Churchill size. In Synopsis: Real good deal!!
Great cigar it is mild but full of flavor. The draw is excellent and burns even right down to the nub. Thanks Art for introducing me to this great smoke. Regards.
I found these to be very good. Pretty even burn, plenty of smoke, good construction, good taste, never bitter. Satisfying always. I will buy more.
Very good cigar! The longer it rests in your humi, of course, the better it gets. Even burn, nice white ash, excellent draw...it's just a mellow cigar whose flavor I really enjoy. I lean more toward full flavored cigars, but this is one medium bodied smoke that I will buy over and over again; especially at CI's prices!!! No complaints here at all. Good job CI...Sosa lives up to its name!
First time smoking a Sosa cigar. Have to say this is a quality, good tasting and burn even. Taste is sweet peppery, cocoa and down to earth cigars. The price is excellent. Great job CI Nation!!
I am a huge fan of the Sosa brand, when i saw the price tag on these i have to admit i was skeptical. I got my bundle of belicoso size in the other day and decided to try one right out of the mailbox. These were a huge surprise, this price and still this good. I have never had a bad sosa cigar. At this price point i am going to stuff my 120 cap humidor full of sosa without killing my checkbook. Great job CI and sosa! This was a homerun in my book!
Decided to buy the 20 stick bundle of Belicoso (6.0" x 54) because of the "1-day" deal. Definitely not disappointed. Smoked the first one on my commute home (approx. 1 hr). Smoked to the nub (about 1 in. left) as I usually do, and although it had the expected deepening of flavor; nothing overwhelming or excessively bitter. All in all, an enjoyable smoke and I am looking forward to enjoying another when I can pair it with some Glenlivet 12 yr. Single Malt! Thanks CI for turning me on to this great cigar.
These cigars look nice and smell wonderful - very chocolatey. The taste: not so. I tried one the day I got them and the first half was almost unsmokeable. The last half was a little better. I'm hoping that a few months in the humidor will improve them...
