Everybody Loves Ramon!
Telling the Genesis story with just two paragraphs - or even three - is extremely difficult. Not to mention, it can’t possibly come close to doing the cigar and its creator justice. Genesis deserves pages of praise, but catalog pages cost a whole lot of money, so our space here is limited. That said, here’s the skinny.
Genesis is a small-batch super-premium, meticulously hand-crafted by Ramon Bueso in Honduras. Who is Ramon Bueso? Trust me when I tell you he isn’t some ho-hum street corner vendor. Quite the opposite, in fact, Ramon has been an integral player in the cigar industry for nearly 4 decades. Since 1977, Ramon has been honing his mastery of cigars and has perfected every facet of cigar production. From grower to roller to master-blender to factory supervisor. Early in his career, Ramon Bueso was vital in catapulting the legendary Villazon factory to new heights, working alongside cigar legends Frank Llaneza and Estelo Padron, and producing some of the world’s biggest and most successful blends in the process. Blends you enjoy early and often, from the likes of Hoyo de Monterrey, Excalibur, Punch, and so much more.
Truth is, Ramon’s mind and hands have created more brands and blends than one can accurately count, let alone imagine. But this....this is by far his most irresistible creation yet. His raison d’etre, if you will. Genesis began as ‘The Project,’ a limited production, local favorite exclusive to the Honduran market, mostly used for gifts and events. Now available on a grander scale, the Genesis is ready to make its mark. The lush, well-aged tobaccos used to craft Genesis deliver a scrumptious and complex medium to full-bodied bouquet. An exceedingly complex core of vintage long-fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras, including select ligeros, visos, and secos. This complex recipe is expertly blended, secured inside a feisty Jamastran binder, then cloaked by a dark and inviting, triple-fermented Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper boasting gorgeous oils. From the very first puff, it’s clear this cigar is something special. Each Genesis wastes no time asserting its distinct array of eventful profile. Thick and creamy flavor coats the palate, dusting the taste buds with hearty notes of espresso, roasted nuts, earth, and nutmeg. The finish is long and savory, offering a unique spicy-sweetness after each puff. Complex, yet highly refined and skillfully balanced, Genesis is a mere peak into the window of Ramon Bueso’s extraordinary talents. Genesis The Project....it’s just the beginning.
These are fantastic cigars. Smooth with piles of espresso flavor. Wish I had gotten more of them. Patel '90s are my usual smokes and these are a strong contender for replacing them.
Wow! What an awesome cigar!
I now understand the hype on this one! Exceptional, sweet aged tobacco flavors!
Smooth as silk. With all the great reviews, I had to try it. Smoked it 'til my fingers felt the heat. Not going to write a long review because I agree with all of the others when I say this cigar is a must have!! Great smoke, taste, and burn. Thanks CI and cigar smokers alike. Cheers and smoke on!!!
Great cigar. I love the flavor. My second favorite after Pinar Del Rio Oscuro. The only issue I have with this cigar is the inconsistent draw from one cigar to another. I would say that approximately 1 cigar in 5 is so tight that it is nearly impossible to draw. When you do get that one that has an easy full draw it is something to enjoy.
Why are there no bad reviews? CI must be editing them, has to be...right? UMMMMM...No. This this is a GREAT smoke! If you are even pondering the thought of buying a box, I suggest buying TWO. These are AWESOME cigars. Pull the trigger and get them; I know I am!!!!
I've always had a hit-and-miss experience with premium cigars in the past due to flavor/construction issues, but not these! These are very fine smokes with lots of thick oily smoke, and great construction. They have a rich tobacco flavor with lots of cream and nuttiness. These are certainly worth the money, and title of a premium cigar.
I was a bit disappointed with Bueso's Odyssey, mostly due to issues with uneven burn. Loved the flavor and I still have a few that I'll let rest in my humi. The GENESIS, on the other hand, is a superb smoke right out of the box. I bought the box on a recent deal and am glad I did. I love everything about it. My only addition to previous comments is that this smoke does not have that sharp pepper taste that I don't much care for in other cigars. I'll definitely buy Genesis again and I will be happy to pay full price.
....Lit up this Ramon Bueso Genesis and spent the better part of an hour and a half wondering why I don't do this every day. It was an excellently complex and rich cigar. Strong coffee and chocolate sweetness with a nice charcoal barbecue aftertaste that lingered. Glad that I got in on the Daily Deal for this stick, picking up a ten pack more.
Please let me add to the positive fray of those who enjoy this stick. What can I say that has not already been said. Where has Mr. Ramon been hiding? What a classic cigar, nothing short of one of the best I ever smoked.
For me, these compare to the CAO Bazilia line, but a little more complex. Great price for what you are getting if you like full-bodied cigars.
Got 5 of these in a sampler. Holy crap. For the price, it's hard to beat. Very consistent burn all the way til the very end where it gets a much stronger toasty flavor. Gonna have to buy a box of these bad boys.
I watched the video and knew I was getting some. Indeed, a HUGE SCORE! A really nice complement to a smokey bourbon. Knob Creek, for example. CI - Thanks for turning me on & thanks for hookin' me up!!! HELL yeah!!!
Got'em in a build your own sampler Almost 2 weeks ago (SCORE!!!). Almost 2/3 into my 3rd and tonight I'm enjoying this with a glass of Lucid Absinthe. Now you have to be careful with absinthe, as it can numb your taste buds bit and wash out the mouthfeel. BUT this cigar is amazingly compatible. It's just a great cigar & one helluva bang for your buck! Heavy in the hand, great construction and burn, once you're in it, you're in it - no surprises, just good through and through. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys something flavorful that's not buried in the pepper.
Pre-light aroma: mild but savory. Taste: Delicious and about medium strength, which is fine, but for me, any maduro must not be mild in flavor!! This cigar is FULL of flavor!! Smoke: Output is copious and fragrant!! I absolutely recommend this cigar to any maduro lover!
Great smoke, When I'm working its 5 x 50 robusto and in the evening 6 x 60 double toro with Bourbon relaxing before dinner. I am currently hooked on Ramon's smooth strong flavor.
Perhaps one of the most attractive, seductive wrappers I have encountered on a cigar. On appearance alone, this cigar is a home-run. With the extremely classy and rich-looking band, combined with the beautiful and oily, dark, shiny, seductive wrapper, you could charge $10 a stick and sell them all day, probably get $20 a cigar because they look so nice. And how they smoke! Powerful, rich, billowing smoke that will knock you on your ace-of-spades, you better believe this ain't no Don Diego! And I love Don Diegos and favor smooth, subtle Dominicans with light and delicate Connecticut Shade wrappers. BUT THIS BAD MAMA JAMA is a whole 'nother plane of cigar existance. Somebody call the paramedics, this is gonna bust you upside your head and break your psyche! Smoke them if you dare: You may not be able to handle the truth!!!
OMG. I have searched and searched for a 60 ring maduro cigar that had the medium-full body flavor, smooth draw with a tight wrap and elegance that gave me a full 45 minute smoke...I have now found it. It's not the cheapest smoke by any means but the $4.25 you'll spend will make that 45 minutes well worth it. BTW...I found this treasure from one of the CI samplers. Thanks CI for that offer!
You have to let them age in your humidor for a few months. Once you do that you gotta winner on your hands.
Holy Grail of cigars, Batman!!! I just received my Ramon Bueso Genesis in a "build your own sampler" pack. I'm working on my 1st ever, yes, immediately upon receipt (or "right off the truck" as some like to say? Watch the video on these & you'll likely do the same.) While the rest are going into my humidor to rest a while, I'm really glad I broke one of these babies out. Medium-full to full, I'd say. Very well constructed, rich, flavorful, and strong with some leather & cocoa. Really nice mouth feel. Not a ton of pepper but she's got some kick. Just a damn fine cigar. Give 'em a try.
I'm no aficionado but this is an outstanding cigar.
Exceptionally smooth long on taste love the sweetness. Buy some now or suffer another mediocre smoke.
Bravo - Ramon Bueso! The student has become the master! I am relatively new to the cigar world, but with my first experience with this cigar I have finally discovered just how wonderful smoking a truly good cigar can be. This cigar is an explosion of taste from the first draw to the last. It's almost sad when it comes to an end. In my discovery process I have smoked some very spendy cigars and some very modestly priced cigars, none of which have come close the enjoyment that this stick provides. It is definitely my new favorite. I was surprised to see it listed as a medium to full-bodied cigar because it has absolutely no harshness from beginning to the very end. I have feeling that it is going to be very difficult to find a cigar I enjoy any more than this one. I predict Ramon Bueso will rise to the top of the cigar world.
Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrappers are popping up everywhere. One of my favorites even uses it in the filler. Versatility, great taste & durability are just a few of this leaf's many attributes. Ramon Bueso's Genesis "The Project" is one that has made me & judging from the over 100 enthusiastic reviews here, lots of cigar lovers, stand up & take notice. Medium-bodied, full flavored, with hints of sweet spices & a creamy, smooth characteristic that will have you begging for more. With the current sale that puts the classic 5" X 50 robusto in your greedy paws for a mere 3 bones per vitola, how can you go wrong? Take a maduroheads advice & give Genesis a try. In a world crowded with superior maduro blends, Genesis holds its own. 90/100. Delicious!
If you like Liga Privada and Undercrown, these will not disappoint you. I do not suggest that they are the same, but they have a similar flavor profile and they're extremely well made. Every once in a while, I'll be smoking a cigar, having a conversation, reading a book, whatever, and suddenly I'll just do a double-take: Wow, what a great smoke! This one has that effect on me every time.
What a nice find; everyday priced, but a real gem. Nice, dark, oily wrapper around a well constructed body that draws and burns evenly. This item was off my radar, and now enjoys go-to status.
I was a little apprehensive about these, but got a 6pk sampler with a cool ashtray...figured what the hey. Eventhough the construction and appearance was about average, a little lumpy and firm in spots. But it didn't effect the performance or the flavors, both were excellent...definitely not afraid of buying these anymore. Based on the number of reviews, these have to be a hot seller.
I'm no aficionado, just coming back for a second box. Outstanding cigar with good draw and great flavor.
Delicious cigar!!! A little pricey for my taste but both times it has been a crazy good experience. Smoothest full body I have ever smoked. A must if you find them at a good price.
This is a gorgeous cigar. Think I got it in the chunk tastic sampler. Well constructed with a nice even and slow burn so it will take you some time to enjoy this viola. The flavors are perfectly balanced leaving the mouth with a nice aftertaste. I would definitely consider buying a box of these as they are a totally enjoyable smoke.
I got introduced to the Ramon Bueso Genesis Project Robusto's thru a five pack and fell in love with them. Everything about the cigar is superb especially the aroma. Now you can buy a 5 pk if you want, but do yourself a favor. At the prices CI is offering, buy a box! Listen to me... BUY A BOX!
Cannot argue with any of the previous reviews. Nice dark, oily dark wrapper, smooth draw, even burn, and the same medium-full flavor doesn't change throughout the smoke. Even when smoked down to a 3/4" nub. I'm a sampler kind of guy as I believe that variety is the spice of life. But, these will always occupy a spot in my humidor.
An absolutely amazing cigar, head to toe. Nice and firm, with a pleasant and consistent pull. Slow even burn, which for me has also been consistent. Rich, creamy plumes of velvety smoke, gently caressed by subtle undertones of vanilla and nutmeg with a light hint of leather. Not very peppery, with a beautifully oily and toothy wrapper, which smells as enticing as it looks. Pairs unnaturally well with a cup of coffee and the paper in the morning. STRONGLY recommended.
One of the best sticks around. Beautiful construction and a lot of complexity with a lot of smooth smoke in this gem! My new everyday cigar at an unbeatable price and fast delivery.
One of the best cigars I have ever smoked. I highly recommend them.
What a surprise, great little smoke. Can't beat the cost!
This is a fine sophisticated smoke. Chocolate and some spice but smooth, medium full. Lots of smoke. Great taste. A lot of people compare it to LP9. I have not had that one. But this cigar is very well constructed. If folks sold it for $10+ no one would say anything. Awesome.
There's really nothing bad I can say about this cigar other than it burned slightly uneven. Very tasty cream, coffee, cocoa, sweet leather. The last 1/3rd was a leathery spicy nut. Delicious! This is one of only a few cigars that actually gave me a head buzz and that was after a good meal! A definite must try.
Just finished my second cigar from the sampler. What a great find! I am about to order a box.
I have never reviewed before tonight. This is Part 2. Part 1 is on the Odyssey page. This is not a bad tasting cigar. Smooth, some creaminess to it, an occasional hint of chocolate. I really don't get too much else. That's as good as this review is going to get. I only have a few left from the box I bought. I had let them sit for 1 week in my humidor before giving them a try. My humidor is always right around 70%. The burn is not even at all. I cannot recommend them....
Just a great cigar smoke it love it great price.
Well balanced, smooth smoke and nice ashtray too.
GOOD: Price is right. Started off a little slow on flavor but I had to have one after only 2 days in the humi because of the good reviews. Taste developed into creamy chocolate leather with earthy tones mixed in. It is well constructed and beautiful looking cigar with an awesome dark oily wrapper. ZERO burn problems and good construction impressive ash. Next one will be after another month or so resting in the humi. BAD: NOTHING at this price you should try it. Thanks CI
Funny story, not huge fan of most Honduran cigars, although Asylum, RP Edge and Camacho Triple Maduros are favorites. I am however a pushover for a gorgeous Broadleaf Maduro wrapper though and that's how The Project lured me. Bought a box of Toros about 5 months ago after having a handful in samplers. I expected the same cigar I had sampled but that's not what I got with the box purchase. Smoked the first after about 3 months in the humidor (and several more since). The sampled sticks were good, but this box offering was top-shelf, off-the-chain good. This is not only a beautiful cigar to look at, The Project delivers tons of smoking enjoyment. Construction is perfect. Draw is easy though not wide open. Medium to full is the way it smokes start to finish. Starts quiet with a mellow maduro sweetness and a hint of coffee and spice. The sweetness gradually subsides and a nutmeg/cinnamon-like spice, black coffee and white pepper begin to dominate. The unique flavor of this cigar lingers on your palate from first light to nub. Like I said, not many Honduran sticks do it for me but this beauty is an exception.
Nothing special here! for all the hype that comes with this cigar it was a bit of a letdown
Great cigar. Like a liga privada by Drew estate at a more reasonable price. Good even burn. Consistent construction. Good tight wrap. Nice meaty smoke. I always keep some in my humador.
Delicious and meaty. Flavor is excellent and balanced.
I am not expert. But I have a cigar that I can really get excited about. I am not good at trying to describe the types of flavors that a cigar produces. I will just say this. WOW. If you are a fan of the medium to full flavored range....You gotta try this cigar. Definitely will repurchase!
These are great cigars! I have purchased two boxes now and my first box has about 8 cigars left that have been in my humidor a little over 1 year. At the 6 month mark something magical happens to these cigars and then they just keep getting better and better. The last one I smoked was seriously comparable to a Liga #9. Do yourself a favor and get two boxes so you can enjoy them as they age.
A must try for everyone, Crazy Good Cigar! Definitely my go to for a while now. Smooth, creamy & sweet with many different flavors throughout the burn....I love em while riding the Harley because they have a durable wrapper that won't come apart in the breeze! Enjoy
Got this cigar in the ash tray sampler. I was shocked. Amazing flavor, great draw. The wrapper is dark rich oily. The complexity of the flavor profile is just amazing. I highly recommend to try this cigar if you have not. You will not regret it in the least. Time to order up a box.
I'll add my two cents about the cigar. A great after dinner cigar. It is sweet and delicious! No doubt
This was my first medium-full bodied stick and it did not disappoint. Very smooth, cool smoke with a great aroma and modest espresso flavor. Maduro wrapper is very flavorful. Will definitely buy again.
All I can say is wow. For the price can't go wrong. Loved it.
A friend and I went ahead and bought a box just going on looks, reviews(and there isn`t a bad one) and my gut feeling was go for it. Well being in Canada and even with the extra finagling with shipping these babies are in a word FANTASTIC. With about two weeks between CI and My place I still wanted to try one(off the truck)and the result believe it or not was a cigar that reminded me of an Undercrown! But with a couple of weeks of rest they have come back to their true taste. Which will be another box purchase. With the absolutely ridiculous tax system up here a cigar of this quality would be 15-20 bucks all day.WE are glad to have Cigars International to turn to. Thank you CI
Awesome cigar.Burns straight and long. very smooth
This is one of the best burners ever. Lose yourself in its decadent mild richness. Perfect. Any more words will not do it justice.
Great cigar. The explanation by cigars international on this page says it all! One of my favorite cigars of the year. I will definitely be buying more. Construction, draw, burn, taste. All excellent!
Grabbed a six-pack of Robustos & a cool wooden ashtray at a discount. The 'gars aren't bad either. Chewy, tasty, full bodied Maduro goodness. Give 'em a try, if you like complex & unique flavors, like me, you won't regret it.
How good? Lit one up today even though it was 5 degrees and smoked it down to the nub! Teeth were chattering but I didn't care! Dark oily wrapper and gorgeous white ash contrast. Rich flavor and just enough smoke. Even burn. Baileys Irish cream coffee...Merry Chrstmas to Me!
Amazing! Hints of chocolate. The most amazing taste. Wow! Got one in a sampler pack...Time to order a few boxes to relive that experience. Smooth finish. I smoked it to the nub, did not want it to end. Best cigar I have ever tasted to this point.
Possibly the best (relatively) new cigar blend. Gorgeous looks and construction, great draw, and luscious flavor. Smoked several boxes already, never disappointed!
I grabbed six of the robustos in a deal that included an ashtray. My plan is to age these jet black puros for a few months, but I had to try one after just 4 days in the humidor. First impressions are good. Firmly packed & well constructed, the wrapper is dark & oily. The taste reminds me of Black Market blend from Alec Bradley, which is a good thing. Spicy, medium/full bodied & quite smooth. This is a very good maduro. I will be ordering more & can enthusiastically recommend The Project to medium & full flavored enthusiasts, as well as maduro lovers.
These cigars are by far some of the tastiest I have ever had, and I have smoked hundreds of labels. They have a chocolate and spice taste right off the first puff and continues this way down to the nub with very little bite at the end. I can honestly say this cigar is better tasting and hand rolled better than many cigars that go for 15 to 20 dollars apiece. Don't miss out on this one.
Love this stick. The flavors are great. A little pepper, some leather and some sweet spiciness. Great complexity. Just ordered more
A damn fine smoke! Great from start to finish. While the draw may be a tad tougher than most, it only makes you enjoy this flavorful cigar even longer. Well done.
Ramon Bueso is obviously a master blender. This cigar is so extraordinary and excellent that I am a little disappointed that he did not strike out on his own to create before he did. The cigar smoking world was deprived of a true masterpiece. Another way of looking at it is that we are lucky (a market glutted with expensive unimaginative products) to have an option like this available at such a reasonable price. You would be foolish not to allow yourself to experience it. The sophomore effort, Odyssey, is also very good but not as notable as the Genesis.
These are very good cigars at an exceptional price!
This has got to be one of the best cigars I have found recently! Ramon Bueso's "The Project" is a very smooth and great tasting cigar with under notes of cedar and deep coriander. A true gem if you are looking for a great, complex cigar at a fair price! What will be next on Ramon's great cigar adventure?
Wow this is a great smoke! Highly recommend.
FANTASTIC CIGAR!
Outstanding Cigar! A classic robusto maduro that is not too full, but not a medium cigar either. The tobacco taste is pure and very high quality. This is one of my favorite cigars and will continue to purchase and smoke. Thank you Ramon Bueso!
Wow! Just, wow! This is a phenomenal cigar! As others have said, I tried one in a sampler, & was ordering a box before I was even done smoking it!!!
This is a terrific smoke. These will be stocked in my humi from now on.
This is a new one for me. A very good smoke, wonderful taste, burn and construction. Will be adding this one to my rotation. Genesis the Project.
Seriously?! This cigar took me by complete surprise! All I wanted was the neat ashtray and the opportunity to try something different, and what I found was a neat ashtray and a cigar that will have a permanent spot in my humidor. Normally when people say, "this cigar was good for the money", it means that it still wasn't that great of a cigar, so I won't say that here. Instead, I will say that this cigar smokes like $10-15/cigar. I have even had $10-15 cigars that have not tasted this good. I was smoking the Robusto size and flicked the ash off ONCE and even smoked it well past the label. The draw was nice, the burn was nice, produced lots of smoke, flavor was good. Well worth the price CI has them for. Enjoy!
If I had to choose only one cigar to smoke for the rest of my life, this would be it.
I got a box for 20 off. Great value considering the wonderful flavor profile of the Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project. If cigars could mate and have offspring this cigar would be a cross between a Partagas Black and a La Gloria Cubana Serie N. Impressive if you like rich maduros. Try one you'll like it. Caps like to fall off once nicked so be carefull. Small annoyance for the pay off you'll get when you try one!
Awesome Cigars. Great flavor!
Superb! One of the best cigars I've ever had - and I'm a fan of full-bodied sticks including CAO Brazilia, 5 Vegas Triple A's, etc. On box number 4, number 5 comfortably nestled in the humi. Wonderful flavor and complexity, on and off the palate (no matter what it is paired with).
On my third box. I think this is one of the best cigars around for the money. Very consistent.
One of the best sticks, I have ever had. I received a five pack for free with an order. I know go figure, right? I honestly thought the free 5-pack was more valuable then the $70 box I purchased! You have to try one of these!
I stumbled on this one looking for a new go to cigar and based on Joe's description, this one has fit the bill. Very nice cigar with a smooth draw and excellent flavor that's not too over powering.
AWESOME!!!!!!
Starts out medium and smooth, finishing full and spicy. Strong notes of pepper, spice, also unsweetened chocolate and dark cream (possibly from pairing). Paired well with Korean Maxim Mocha Gold Mild from Seoul. I'm def buying more!! At around $5-$6 stick this is now in my top 5 favorite cigars!!!
The UPS truck just dropped off my latest order and I couldn't wait to rip open the box. Inside were many tasty treats but the one that really peaked my interest was The Project by Ramon Bueso. I know I should give these beauties a little humi time after their journey but I just couldn't wait. Off to the patio with a Jameson in tow. Black oily and beautiful describe it well. Medium full but smooth with a hint of licorice. Heavy in the hand and firm with a great draw. The only complaint I have is with myself, I should have ordered a box! Great smoke! Thanks CI
This cigar is hands down one of my favorites. I've been ordering from CI for two years now and these big boys, Bueso (Gordo)(6.5"x60) are my latest find...they are the cat's meow! You have to try a box. These smokes burned slow and tasted fantastic. Fired it up after dinner and it easily burned late into the evening, lasting much longer than several accompanying beverages. Buy them...now!
Smoked one a year ago when first introduced and the Genesis has become my go to cigar! Humidor has 40 sitting right now! Going to get one out and smoke it on the back porch right now!
Simply fantastic is the only way to describe this smoke. I wasn't sure what quite to expect when these were included in a sampler pack, but they were absolutely stellar. Good draw, great smoke (smooth and rich), fantastic flavor though I would rate them as more of a medium than a true medium full. I have to say I have found a new favorite.
Absolutely divine. My new default for a full-bodied cigar, with my medium bodied cigar default being Cuban Cohibas. Seriously, it’s in that class.
I recently purchased a box of these cigars because I liked the looks and the price was right. I just ordered two more boxes because I don't want to run out of these gems! They smoke evenly and you can enjoy this cigar right down to the nub. I have paid triple the price for cigars that are no better or not even as good as these babies. Way to go, Ramon!
Got 5 as part of a build your own sampler. As part of an after poker smoke let a few guys choose whatever they wanted. Me and two other guys grabbed one of these, representing a range from rarely smokes to someone who has sold cigars. Everybody enjoyed them. We slightly talked about how they related to the burbon we were sipping on, but in general there didn't even need to be any discussion, they were just damned good, whether you had smoked 1000 cigars or 10.
I split a box of robustos with a buddy and this is one delicious stick. The flavors are outstanding and the strength is just right. As soon as I finished smoking the first one I ordered another full box to keep to myself. Thanks CI!
Great cigar. Flavorful. Not overpowering. Well made. Good draw. Has become one of my favorites.
Damn!! God bless you Mr. Bueso. please, please, please don't stop producing these Jems! Congratulations ! In July 2012, I stumbled across Genesis the project, I totally admit I was very skeptical. after reading the brief bio, I said to myself "why not give a fellow Latino a chance, I've tried just about everyone else's cigar's in search of a an every day stick" to no avail. so I did, buy a box of robusto's. Oh My God! Fantastic, now I'm a repeat customer , several times over. P.S. Now! the PROJECT is my go to stick!! Thank you truly a super cigar! SIEMBRA !
Sometimes I wonder about some of the cigars offered by CI because your writers make every cigar sound like the best thing since sliced bread. I go immediately to the reviews to get a realistic idea from the regular Joe. This cigar does not disappoint! Dark, oily wrapper, amazing flavor, wonderful draw and even burn. I am on my second fiver of robustos and am buying a set of double toro to try and hide at the bottom of my humidor for a few months. DO NOT MISS THIS CIGAR! It's a wonderful experience at a great price. Save me a box for my bonus check in May!
Hey, I'm a man of few words, so this will be short. This is a great cigar. Lot's of compelling flavors that I haven't found elsewhere. In fact, it's indescribable using the standard "earth, leather, nuts" terminology. I do get some wood elements, along with a unique spiciness that lingers on the palate. Lots of pleasant smoke. Took some effort to maintain a uniform burn line though. Great cigar. I'll get more because they are unlike anything else in my humidor.
I gotta tell you, I've tried a TON of cigars over the years, to include a pretty significant percentage of those sold by CI. Much to my surprise (pleasant, that is), this Genesis: The Project cigar is absolutely one of the best four or five cigars I have ever smoked. After smoking my first one last week and being impressed, I witheld judgment (you know how cigars can be like going out with a woman - the first experience is great, but goes downhill from there.) Well, suffice it to say that cigars numbered two, three, and four have been every bit as good, if not better. Were I to continue my previous analogy, I think I'm on the verge of proposing to this cigar! Do yourself two favors, both of which I did - find yourself a great woman, and buy some of these cigars!
May be my new favorite cigar, what a pleasant surprise for the cost. I was shocked at how smooth it was, and the aroma is unparalleled
Just got a 5pk of Toros and fired one up right away. Normally I don't do that and usually let my sticks sit for a few weeks at least. This cigar is incredible right off the truck! Can only imagine what they're going to be like after some box time. This is a cigar that deserves all the accolades without a doubt. Grab your favorite beverage and enjoy!
Absolutely gorgeous cigar. Smelling the wrapper, the amazingly dark rich aromas that come off are unparalleled! Now I wish I'd gotten a box with the deal they had a few days a go. I'm definitely re-ordering in the near future.
I received one of these in the "Twelve Days of Christmas" sampler. I remember thinking "what a goofy name for a cigar!" Then I smoked it, and I've bought two boxes of the Robustos since. Flawlessly constructed with an oily, dark wrapper, these burn like a dream. I'd put them firmly in the medium bodied, medium flavor range. This cigar has complex flavors from the time you toast the foot until you nub it. It's a tastier cigar than many I've smoked at twice the price. If you're on the fence about these, hop off it and try one. At this price point I don't think you can find a tastier smoke.
Split a box with a BOTL 2,000 miles away. He sent me my 10. Somehow they seemed to multiply in my humi box. I smoke my premium stogies sparingly, but even then there always seemed to be couple in the bottom of my box. I sent one or two to my CiL and he said it was the best cigar I have ever given/traded with him. Before I knew it, he called CI and ordered a box, and got the freebie sampler with it, sending me two different sizes to try. These age well, and don't get bitter except in the last inch or so of a nub, as long as you don't rush the smoke. One of the better/best cigars I have had in 2012.
Received my box of toros +8 today.I have to say these are one of the best(if Not the best) cigars I Have ever smoked! Very smooth, lots of smoke, nice dark oily maduro wrapper, nice long ash, very Well constructed. I would give this cigar a 94-95 rating! Awesome, simply & awesome to smoke! Can't wait to enjoy the next one!
As a lover of all smokes villazon it was no surprise that Bueso's genisis is a hit. My pick for cigar of 2012!! overall the balance, flavor, aroma, and complexity of this cigar imo makes it one of the best ever. Perfect draw and even burn in all the sizes are a display of the fine construction. I ordered a box the week before Christmas even though they were on back order and was told some time after new years and imagine my delight when the brown truck showed up the friday before Christmas! Thanks CI for making Christmas morning especially aromatic. I still can't get over how smooth this cigar is for being medium to full in body. I like and recommend the robustos for having the best finish, most of the flavors come through the nose. Great job Ramon and CI.
I got my first Genesis in the legal limit sampler, bought a box as soon as I finished one. Amazing smoke, smooth crisp burn and incredible flavor for the price! I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality medium-full smokes! Thanks CI!
And on the 8th day Ramon Bueso said..."come let us create a cigar in my own image, so that man can enjoy the greatness that i have given he"...and it was so. Ramon Bueso was pleased with his creation and behold.."Genesis The Project" was born. Let it be known to all, that "Genesis The Project" is a creation that will please even the most doubtful of souls. Gentlemen..THIS...is where its at. If you must do something before the zombie apocalypse or the alien invasion, get you a box of these and get to smoking!!!
You cannot place a price on perfection, but Ramon Buenos has found a way. This Genesis The Project cigar is quite a masterpiece. I sit and write this as I am smoking my second cigar tonight..the first was the Genesis, as I write this its the Liga #9. Genesis The Project has encouraged me to place a comment here, and all I can say about Genesis...WOW. Dont let this one slip you by. My everyday smokes are the Liga, Partagas Black, Cohiba Black. Those are going to have to move over and make room for their new roomate in the humidor. This cigar is worth logging in and writing about. Get them while you can. I wont compare the 2 I am smoking, but have no doubt they are in overtime right now and Genesis has the ball on the goal line!
Love the wrapper, love the price, love the box, love the flavors, love love this wonderful cigar. Where has this guy been? Ramon Bueso will be on a postage stamp some day.
Wow... Great cigar and a great price. Glad I ordered one more box before the price went up. I only wish I ordered 9 or 10 more boxes before the price increase and another humidor to hold them in. 5 star cigar that I would suggest everyone at least try.
This cigar is nothing less than FANTASTIC. In every area; draw, slow even burn, construction, flavor, and tons of smoke. The Genesis was as close to perfection as one can get,and doesn't break the bank. Please take the advise of a person who has smoked a lot of different brands, and pull the trigger on a purchase of these.
I purchased this cigar based on what I read in the CI magazine, I was not disappointed at all. This cigar is AWESOME; I was impressed with the oils on the wrapper and the construction over all. I purchased the robusto size, the ash held on for a nice long time and the flavor and complexity of this cigar is just great. This cigar is like finding that incredible wine for 10.00 and you just want to keep it to yourself and not tell anyone about it. Great Job on this cigar Ramon.
Just smoked one of these in Toro size right off the truck. Very smooth start with lots of flavor. Good burn, tight holding ash, white with grey and black cratering. Delicious medium / full flavored cigar with a medium / full body. This is a damn fine cigar.
I first bought the Robusto size of this cigar and was blown away by it. I tried to get another box a week later, but they were backordered, so I got the Torpedo size instead. I have to say that I am not as impressed. It just doesn't have quite the complexity of the Robusto. That makes me sad because I would have liked a longer running version. Don't get me wrong it is still great but I liked the 'Busto better. I will try the longer Toro next when they are available. Amazing cigar!!
wow. first impressions matter, and this cigar is beautiful. The thick, dark, oily wrapper with a simple elegant band makes you want to like it, and I did. First third is a bit peppery, middle settles down to rich coffee, earth and perhaps even a bit of chocolate. rich and medium-full in body but smooth. I agree with some others that the draw is a bit firm but not a problem for me. just noting in case that is a critical factor for you.
Ya know, these Genesis' remind me of E.P. Carrillo maduros. Mabe a little spicier to the midway point. Nice smoke. I want more.
Just received a box of Genesis the Project cigars. This is the best damn cigar i have had in a long time! Better than anything else that I have purchased in a long time. Great flavor, perfect draw, perfect burn. I will buy more.
Fellow Brothers/Sisters of the leaf. There is a new sheriff in the town. Its name is Genesis, and Genesis is very good at his job. Beautiful dark oily wrapper. Construction is excellent. Flavor is excellent. Do not hesitate to try this cigar. It is as described and at this price, Genesis is a must.
Man, what a great tasting cigar! Superb taste, with lots of smoke. At this price a person would be foolish not to have a box of these beauties. I have finally found my everyday cigar.
Genesis The Project by Ramon Bueso get the sampler and give them a try. You won't be dissapointed they are Med-Full and have a nice draw. they are a great find- Enjoy
I have to say, I was apprehensive because of the name of this cigar, a name which seems a bit silly to me. However, I took a chance on a fiver on a Jambalaya, and before receiving that five pack, grew more and more convinced I might miss out on a good deal if I didn't grab a box at prices lower than we usually see for similar-sounding cigars. Glad I did so. I took some tasting notes before re-reading the CI write-up. What I got was a cigar that is still fairly young, but good already. Dominate flavor of unsweetened espresso, with more subdued undertones of bittersweet chocolate, wood, earth and black pepper. The flavor profile didn't evolve much, but I didn't mind, as it was already quite tasty to begin with. Already impressive flavor, med-full and with an assertive flavor profile, I believe these cigars will smooth out a bit without losing much strength and age very nicely.
I was skeptical at first, ordering on the reviews of the staff... WOW!!! Very glad I decided to follow their advice and suggestion as this is a fabulous smoke. I am a My Father Le Bijou avid fan and smoker and this Genesis Project I am ranking right up there. So much so that I ordered another box yesterday! I love how the first third comes in slightly peppery, with hints of leather and cocoa, an even white ash(my fav) requiring no touchups, mellowing out into a sweet cocoa, oak and earthy on the second third and having the pepper arrive for a final blast as the flavors all come together. The smoke is creamy and copious and the retrohale is spicy and sweet with that chocolate aftertaste. A complex combination of flavors in the medium range, moving slightly into the full here and there... Do yourself a favor and buy one today!
Do not buy these cigars!... Because I want them to always be available for me. These are awesome. I seriously can't think of anything this good at this price point I have ever tried. I have never written a cigar review for anything else, but felt compelled to contribute my thoughts after buying a box of these. Wow, just wow!
When Nick Perdomo told me he'd made the last batch of his ESV '91 Maduros, I panicked and bought every box I could find in the country. I've been looking for a replacement ever since, and I think the Genesis is it! Nice dark oily wrapper. A bit tighter in the wrap than I'm used to, but it just made me sip and enjoy.... Only needed one touchup down to my nearly-burned fingers, and no harshness even smoked down that far, just an enjoyable numbness that went with the smile on my face! After that first smoke, just ordered 2 more boxes. A wonderful cigar at a beautiful price.
Very well built smoke, easy draw tons of thick smoke. Great great smoke I would HIGHLY recommend these to any one.
I bought a box of the Muy Bueso (double toro), and so far, these are definitely one of the best heaters I have ever had, and I been into cigars for 25 years. Beautiful draw, even burn, gorgious oily wrapper, peppery, excellent!
This is a horrible cigar! Do not buy them... in fact, I will do you all a favor and buy them all!!! Okay, just kidding. I am not known to be one who has a set brand, or that "go to" brand that I know will be pleasing to me from first light to nub; however, Genesis is now that cigar. There is nothing flashy about this cigar, but the quality is nearly second to none. The tobacco is beautiful, construction is nearly flawless (if not totally flawless) and the flavor profile is perfect for my taste, and with the current price point there is no reason why you should buy anything less than a box. This is just a damn good cigar! CI and their sister operations have done a great job in introducing us all to blenders that may have otherwise been lost in the seas of the cigar world, so for I thank you. I am excited to see where Ramon will take us with his next line. Until then, good job!
Just received my first box of Ramon Bueso Genesis. I smoked my first one from Cigar Fest a few days after the show. After enjoying the second stick, I was compelled to order 3 more boxes! What a great smoke and what a great deal! It's all the CI's review boasted about and then some! Thanks for making this one available us!
What a great new stick this is, by a guy who's been working in near anonymity for decades. The wrapper on this one glistens with oils. The first third starts out with some nice pepper. Nothing overwhelming, but definitely enough to make you take notice. After that, the pepper calms down and it morphs into leather and earth, continuing on to a smooth finish. Full flavored and powerful, this cigar is a winner!
I've been trying out the many choices from Cigarfest 2012 and just got around to the The Project by Ramon Bueso. My wife and I are just blown away by this cigar! One of the best I have ever had (and I've had a lot). Get's my highest rating. What a bombshell of flavor with no hint of bitterness. Perfect burn and perfectly made. When I get my inventory down a little, this will be my numero uno.
I have now had the pleasure of having two of these, and Ive got to say its absolutely fantastic. Reviewed it over at the blog I have with my brother...
So just Who is Ramon Bueso? Let me tell you! I literally have just returned home to Canada from 2+ days @ CigarFest 2012, and it is now 1 am. Anyhow, we were all treated to the amazing pleasure of meeting the man, smoking a few of his pre-release smokes, and absolutely savouring the experience. It is a knockout...you will not be disappointed, and if you are, you can send them to me! Deal?
