La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

The latest addition to the La Aroma de Cuba saga....

La Aroma de Cuba 'Mi Amor' is hand crafted in Don Pepin Garcia's Nicaraguan factory. Utilizing a dark, toothy Cuban-seed wrapper grown in Mexico and a robust Nicaraguan long-filler blend, Mi Amor offers a rich, medium to full-bodied profile. Brimming with notes of earth, cocoa, espresso, spices and a smooth, semi-sweet finish. Complex, flavorful, balanced and perfectly constructed, La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor is thoroughly satisfying.

A former #2 cigar of the year from 2011, La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor has once again been honored on the Top 25 List for 2016. Coming in at #13 and receiving a well deserved 93-rating, noting: "Packed solid with tobacco, this box-pressed belicoso integrates notes of cocoa bean and coffee with sweet woodiness and a touch of leather. There's a touch of licorice on the finish."

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor
I smoke a variety of cigars routinely but my go to cigar continues to be the Mi Amor. It seems to always satisfy with good taste, good flavor, good draw and a good aroma. In its price range I have not found a better one....Jeff

La Aroma Mi Amor comparison
I just finished the first Mi Amor out of my fresh box. The burn was a little skewed but it didn't effect flavor. This is a rich cigar a with fairly subtle sweet notes with a contrasting spicy taste. This was a big cigar so I ran out of time and only finished it to about 2/3rds. I could compare it to the San Cristobal but it fell a little short but likely because it had traveled about two week in the US post before I was able to get it into my humidor.

Great cigar at a great price
This is a high quality cigar, on the stronger side I like to enjoy on a nice evening. Maybe I shouldn't say that out loud, but I'd be willing to buy this cigar at a higher price.

Smoothest draw. All sections burn even and release subtle notes of spice throughout. Should have been rated higher in my opinion. A must for all humidors. Thanks again CI for your products and quality.

No Disappointments Here!
Well they didn't hand out that rating for nothing. This cigar started out with a nice rich tobacco flavor that turned into just butter smooth euphoria by a quarter in. Amazingly, I smoked it to the finger burning end and it did not change. The cigar stayed even in strength and constant on amazing. It has been awhile since I have been surprised, and this cigar gave me a great one. No disappointments here.

CI Purchase
I'm bad about clearing e-mails, especially regarding purchases, and in finally doing so discovered that in one year's time, the majority of my purchases were from CI. I usually look for quality & value, which reflect that I receive both from CI

The best of the best
ANY Mi Amor, There is not a better cigar and very few equals. 30 years of enjoying the gift of cigars has to count for something. Cigars are a tool that I use in my life. When a man needs time to think, ponder or just enjoy a lil time with friends I bring my cigars. Alone in the yard on a star lit night, me and my cigars. I take little in this life seriously, but when I do, you best be sure I TAKE IT SERIOUSLY SERIOUS. Mi Amor by La Aroma de Cuba is my SERIOUS SMOKE.

This is, hands down, the best cigar I've smoked. Full bodied and delicious, even burning and easy drawing pleasure. From toasting to the nub, this is a wonderful cigar. Heady notes of spice, leather, coffee and rich tobacco fill each puff. Even strength from beginning to end. If you like a full bodied cigar you can't go wrong.

Mi Amor??? Oh yea
I just smoked my first Mi Amor… What a fabulous cigar. Strong enough and incredibly smooth. Good flavors on the lips from the mexican wrapper. Hints of a lot of different flavors with none dominating the cigar. This cigar was good all the way down to the nub. I will ALWAYS have some of these in the box. The only thing that MIGHT make it better is a few days in a dry box. I'll try that with one to see.

Quickly has become one of my favorites. If you like My Fathers or Brickhouse you have got to try Mi Amor.

Full flavored premier cigar
These have quickly become one of my favorite cigars. Great construction, even burn, nice white ash. If you want a cigar that gives you full enjoyment from the first draw then down to a nub, this is the cigar for you.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor is my favorite cigar
Yes, it may be too expensive for an ‘every day’ cigar, but it’s worth the price. This cigar is well-constructed, burns evenly and has ineffable flavors that are hard to describe. There are coffee flavors, caramel, cocoa and it’s not too peppery. Once I tasted a jelly donut. I’m not kidding. On another occasion I tasted a brief but intense chocolate milk flavor. It only lasted a few seconds but in that moment it was the highest quality, rich flavor I’ve ever experienced. Oh—and I like the label, too. It’s classy and a refreshing change from skulls and other ‘edgy’ marketing.

CI....and the "others".
Most of us already know there are many other providers to purchase our favorite premium handmades, but I've found it a very rare occasion when anyone can beat CI's prices, or more importantly, their service. Keep up the good work! La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor: the name is spot on. I enjoy this cigar for the rich aroma. I never rush it, always take my time with this cigar. Nice even burn, full flavor, all the way down to a nub...definitely in my top ten favs.

Surprising; almost exactly as a Padron 3000/4000 maduro.... tasty stogie with Mexican wrapper.
Surprising almost exactly as a Padron 3000/4000 maduro....tasty stogie with Mexican wrapper....
After reading the good reviews, I bought my first La Aroma DC, a Mi Amor 6x52 at the largest cigar retailer in San Antonio and within an hour had it resting in my humidor for several weeks. I expected great things, but apparently got a less than stellar one. The draw was tight and the burn took over an inch to even out, even with judicious rotation to even it (I tend to have a more bottom than top draw). The draw stayed tight until the 2 inch point when I decided it wasn't worth the trouble. The fault became apparent halfway through the burn - a heavy and deep fold in the filler. I'll try again with another sample; meanwhile I cannot recommend this stick
I have tried this cigar in every size and it never disappoints. This one is a keeper.
One of my favorites. I wish I could have one everyday
THIS IS ONE FINE CIGAR. I have tried these many times and can say without any reservations that this is a must have for any serious cigar smoker. It is rare for me to really "LOVE" a cigar that does not hail from CUBA as I live in Canada, but this is one of the better non-Cubans in my book. I also like Padrons and Fuente(DON CARLOS)and most of the ASHTON cigars as well as the AVO line. This cigar, while not having the same flavours of some of the others I mentioned, does have a unique flavour of its own. It is definitely well constructed and I'm sure fine tobaccos are used. It tastes too good to be made with lower end stuff. I smoke one of these EVERYDAY without fail. The cigar is ALWAYS great from start to CANNOT go wrong with this smoke......ENJOY
A lovely cigar, indeed. It fits the description all the way. I enjoyed this cigar to the fingertips, very smooth and meaty. Beautiful in presentation and well constructed. It was good while it lasted.
My favorite cigar hands down. Halfway through a box of the Belicoso and every stick has been perfect! Smooth draw, even burn, nice medium-full body flavor - what more can you ask for? These will always be a staple in my humidor - a must have for any true BOTL!
I recently ordered a 5-pack of these wonderful cigars from CI. I've been behind on my ratings lately, but this cigar deserves special attention from those who love a medium-full bodied Nicaraguan long-filler blend. Out of the package they look beautiful with their box-pressed construction. These cigars are well made; none of the five had a single flaw. Before lighting, I could almost smell the soil they were grown in. Immediately after lighting, there were hints of wood, some coffee, and a natural, but attenuated sweetness. The cigar burned evenly, produced copious amounts of delicious smoke, and held its ash like a pro. At the half-way point, the cigar was still yielding wonderful tastes that were very complex. Near the end, there was no bitterness or "bite." The draw was easy throughout. For the price, I would highly recommend this exquisite cigar. It earned its rating. I ordered the Churchill and would do so again in a New York minute.
Great Job CI!
Good strong cigar - but the draw can be uneven wthin the box of cigars - some are very good and others have a very tight draw.
This is a great smoke from DPG. Cocoa, cocoa, cocoa. I prefer a bit more full but this was a nice lighter smoke to end my day. It would go nice with a cup of joe in the morning.
I am about halfway done with this cigar and I must say it is fantastic. Burn has been slightly erratic but over all burning fine. Making room in my humi for this top notch smoke.
Pepin Garcia does it again..... I dunno, I hear these babies have been around for quite some time? Different leafs, different soils?? Whatever or however this is a cigar that has few equals and even fewer toppers. My personal experience wit Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor is amazing to say the least.... From your first draw to the nub there is nothing but pleasure. If only I could make this an everyday smoke.
Very easy to light. Above average construction, draw and burn. Very little draw resistance demands constraint to avoid bitterness. Voluminous smoke output. Very cool burn. Thick smoke but dry on palate. Medium to full strength and medium to full flavors. Intense coffee and leather flavors with a black pepper taste and bite. An ever so slight sweetness fades in and out. A bolder style cigar that becomes a bit smoother and milder in the second half with flavors that remain consistent from beginning to end.
This cigar rivals the Padron Anniversary at half the price. No B.S. Phenomenal smoke.
what a great smoke. this is as close as you can get to a true cuban cigar, reminded me of the legendary bolivar royal corona! buy a 5-pack of toros and try for yourself, i am stocking up!
Very smooth and full smoke!
Awesome smoke, great flavor and burn. Can't get enough of them! Thank You CI.
This is a legendary stick with a reputation that it very well deserves. This cigar is amazing, the whole smoke is bold with deep mocha and notes of cocoa. Its complexity and body are not meant for a novice smoker but eventually one has to experience this cigar. However, if you are looking for changes in flavor this is not the stick or you. It is very consistent. Hats off to the manufacturer.
My go-to cigar! My favorite size is the Magnifico that I always smoke to the nub. Very smooth with lots of grey smoke, hints of cocoa with a slightly sweet after taste. The price point is perfect for an everyday smoke.
Another great one from La Aroma de Cuba! The " Edicion Especial #55 " and the " Mi Amor Valentino " are staples in my humidor. Very enjoyable cigars!
If you enjoy a rich, med-full flavored cigar, this is for you. I don't usually write reviews, but the Mi Amor definitely earned it. All tobacco, and the price point is fair. Cheers
one of the best smokes I have tried so far. I have just started. I have a good smoke shop in Roanoke, Va. I bought this smoke and this is one of my new "best". very good. Getting ready to order more. LOVE 'EM.
Smooth, rich flavor with the right amount of spice and earthy flavor. Very nice sweet aftertaste. Well constructed and nice even burn with a nice easy draw. Smoked it down to the nub!
not since the Prensado AB have I seen a more beautiful band but that's not really why we smoke them right? I read a review that summed it up perfect: "This is a very cigary cigar" and I know just what they mean. It STINKS. If your wife hates the small steer away! Billows of rank smoke made me decline a box purchase, it was just too much for me. Almost as if the main objective with this stick was to create an overpowering aroma. Still a well built cigar with a great draw and even burn but just too stinky for me.
Wow, These smokes are killer. They stay lit, draw nice, and the smoke is awesome. Just bought a box after I tried 5. You won't be disappointed.
Great cigar along with Aston VSG Tre Mystic my favorite
I ordered these knowing they ranked #2 out of 25 according to Cigar Aficionado in 2011. I must say that these are some of the best cigars I've ever smoked. Full of flavor and well worth the money. Do it!
DPG has done it again. For once I agree with the self anointed egos at CA "ragazine" they should stick to vacations and watches. But the rating was spot on in regards to LAdA. I find it to be a very complex blend that starts somewhat harsh but quickly mellows out in the first third. Then creeps back up with a bountiful array of flavors. It's just packed with a beautiful balance of Coffee, Earthy and Peppery flavors with just the slightest hint of a caramelesqe creamy sweetness that you'll find yourself licking your lips to savor! I have tried all of the sizes and believe that the Churchill is the winner as it is the perfect size to allow all the flavors over the smoking time to combine. I will always have a box of these in my humidor as long as they are made. Also. Do yourself a favor. resist the urge to smoke them right away and give them a minimum of at least 6 weeks to rest and give them a chance to mellow. Keeping track in my journal I have found that after 8 months they are begging to be smoked! Enjoy them my fellow aficionados.
Mi Amor is the first cigar that Cigar Aficionado rated highly that I actually agree with. They should stick to Rolexes and private jets! This cigar reminds me of hot cocoa with just a bit of complimentary spice added. I don't find it anywhere near as strong as some other reviewers. The construction was perfect right down to the triple cap. Deeeelish!
The first third was amazing and the rest was a bit bland. The strength snuck up on me and I actually threw up at the end. First time ever in about 100 sticks. Would recommend based on flavor and it you like a buzz
Hi again with another review, if you are looking for a review with orange peel, strawberry short cake and anise I am not about that. Instead pure tobacco. This is a great stick, straight tobacco,Earth, pepper review. great construction with a white ash, properly aged. This is a great stick and a pleasure to behold. Although no sweet nuances, an upper medium- lower full smoke. This stick will have a home in my box, a must have. Once again thank you for CI with competitive pricing.
Being a big fan of La Aroma de Cuba and La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial, when I saw the introduction of La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor I immediately placed a five stick order expecting to be blown away. Right after the UPS truck pulled away I fired one up and was a bit dissappointed. To be fair I will say that I should have been patient and given it some time to settle down in the humidor. Secondly this is a much different profile than its predecessors. It is a darker cigar that I found it to be more robust almost to the point of being a little harsh. After a nap in the humidor the next one seemed to smooth out. A good cigar but in my opinon not as good as the first two La Aroma de Cubas. For the money I prefer MOW Runination or Diesel Unlimited over the Mi Amor.
The Mi Amor is an excellent cigar! Very complex with your classic DPG spice, followed by leather and mocha flavors. It's a cigar that you could enjoy at any time of the day, and believe it or not, enjoy as a dessert cigar. The best one out of the LAdC series.
I've smoked all three La Aroma de Cuba's and the Mi Amor is the smoothest of them all. I cant imagine anyone who already likes this line not liking the Mi Amor.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

Jeff K

La Aroma de Cuba has always been a brand to which I didn’t give much attention. But I’ve recently seen the light.

La Aroma de Cuba is an old Cuban brand with a great back story. Supposedly, the Cuban La Aroma de Cuba brand was a favorite of Winston Churchill. In 2002, Ashton released a Honduran-made La Aroma de Cuba which initially made a big splash. Quickly earning some impressive ratings, La Aroma de Cuba was generating some serious buzz. The artwork was beautiful, the cigars were made in the renowned Flor de Copan factory (home of Saint Luis Rey, Quintero, Romeo Habana Reserve, et. al), and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. I was excited to try one. So I tried about 4 and had a terrible experience each time – I had some serious issues with construction and the flavor was just average. Then I forgot about La Aroma de Cuba for a long time. A couple of years ago they launched La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial and while I enjoyed it, the price was a bit more than I cared for. But a new era of La Aroma de Cuba is here and they’ve calmed all my fears. The original La Aroma de Cuba is now made in Nicaragua by Don Pepin Garcia and the Edicion Especial has just experienced a drastic price decrease. Plus, they’ve just launched a new addition to the line – La Aroma de Cuba ‘Mi Amor’ – and the initial response has been tremendous. So once again, I was excited to one.

La Aroma de Cuba ‘Mi Amor’ is handmade in Nicaragua by Don Pepin Garcia and marks a drastic departure from the other blends in the line. The wrapper is a dark, ultra-thick Mexican maduro leaf that’s extra toothy. On the inside, a bold blend of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-fillers. The whole thing is then gently box-pressed and adorned with the signature La Aroma de Cuba artwork. And I must say, it’s a good looking cigar.

Initially, the flavor is slightly dry with a rich, charred finish. That kind of sounds bad, but it’s an interesting taste that’s oddly delicious. As it burns, the flavor develops nicely and the taste balances.  It’s extremely rich, with a supporting cast of espresso, pepper, spices, cedar, and a slightly sweet finish which rounds out the mix. It changes often and offers a ton of flavor, all delivered in a full-bodied, but refined manner. And the toasty, chocolatey aroma adds an additional layer to the experience. Smooth throughout with a slow-burn and tight, grey ash, La Aroma de Cuba ‘Mi Amor’ is a cigar I’ve been thoroughly enjoying.

It’s different than most cigars on the market, but a true premium with a ton of flavor. If you enjoy rich, full-bodied smokes, La Aroma de Cuba ‘Mi Amor’ is one that should definitely be added to your rotation. They’re not cheap, but for a cigar of this level of quality, they’re worth the asking price.

New 2010 Release: La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

As some of you may know, I was a HUGE fan of the old La Aroma de Cuba blend from Honduras. Chewy, rich, tasty....I loved this cigar and have missed it considerably ever since it left the market. Now, this brand is made in Nicaragua by Jose ‘Don Pepin’ Garcia, and it’s drastically different. Some claim it’s better, some claim there’s nothing quite like the original.

I now have in my hand the latest blend from La Aroma - Mi Amor - which I plan to take for a test drive. This new blend is very different in appearance than the other La Aromas on the market. The wrapper is a dark and toothy Cuban-seed leaf grown in Mexico - it offers a dark chocolate-brown hue with minimal oils. Smelling the unlit foot, I pick up a trace of baked bread - much like the aroma you’ll smell when walking through a tobacco curing barn. The slightest bit of spice tickles my nostrils, leading me to believe there’s a little ligero within this all-Nicaraguan long-filler blend, ready to smack my palate with a dash of pepper. I chose a punch cut - because somebody took my damn cutter off my desk - and am ready to go.

The first few puffs are very smooth, with a deep, roasted tobacco flavor and toasty influence. From the get-go, I notice thick and heavy clouds of gray smoke exiting the foot of this cigar. Dark, aromatic smoke with a warm, toasty scent. The faintest bit of spice lingers on the back of my palate after each puff, a spice which is more promiment through the nose. I’m just a half an inch in and I feel this cigar will surpass the medium-bodied range and reach full-bodied before the smoke is done.

An inch in, the deep, roasted flavors remain when the smoke is first introduced to your palate with each puff, however a rich, espresso-like nuance is left behind with each exhale, quickly followed by the subtle spice. The Mexican wrapper is true to its origin, a dense, earthy leaf offering an enjoyable, rustic tobacco flavor that hits the front of your palate everytime you draw on the cigar.

Midway through, the cigar becomes considerably smoother. The roasted influence seemed to have faded by now, allowing a rich, unsweetened touch of dark chocolate to surface. This nuance hit me mostly in the middle of the palate and on the sides, and does not overshadow the espresso flavors or slightly spicy finish. It’s actually a welcome change to the first half of the smoke.

By now, I feel the weight of this cigar in my belly and behind my eyes. I won’t go as far as saying this is a full-bodied handmade, but there’s no doubt some strength behind the blend. A full meal is not required prior to enjoying Mi Amor, but I wouldn’t recommend this as a morning smoke for first-timers.

The final third is quite rich, with a soft charcoal-like aroma that fills the room. Rich tobacco, dark chocolate, and espresso followed by that subtle spice I’ve been mentioning the entire time. All the while, this cigar has produced a flaky but firm, salt and pepper ash with a razor-sharp burn and easy draw. No one flavor dominates any significant portion of the smoke, and all are presented in a balanced and smooth fashion.

While La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor is still very different than the original, Honduran-made La Aroma that I loved so much, I did enjoy burning this cigar and will no doubt burn more in the future. It’ll never replace the original, but it’s great to see the new Nicaraguan-made La Aroma making strides in a tasty direction.
