Hearth & Home Fusilier's Ration

Okay, what the hell is a fusilier?

I've just been informed that a fusilier was a soldier who used a long flintlock rifle. It still doesn't make any sense to me, but if the soldiers received this blend as a ration, sign me up!

Years back, there was a popular tobacco called Bengal Slices, but it disappeared quite some time ago. It was a sliced crumble cake that contained Latakia, Virginias, Orientals and a bit of black Cavendish. What really set it apart was the addition of a unique combination of top dressings which made it unique. Hearth & Home's master blender, Russ Ouellette, somehow was able to recreate the flavor and aroma of Bengal Slices in the Hearth & Home Marquee Series' Fusilier's Ration. If you want a bright, smoky blend with a bit of sweetness, grab a tin today.

This smokes like a fine tobacco and leaves you feeling like you tasted fine whiskey for hours.

Smooth and Balanced
This is the smoothest and best balanced Latakia blend I have tried (but by no means a Lat bomb). If it wasn't for the krumble kake prep time, it could become one of my most often smoked blends.

Good Smoke
A very good smoke, different type of flake than I am used to but travels well in my pick up.

H&H Marquee Fusiliers Ration
This flake tobacco has wonderfully unique aroma. It's early yet strong. Smoking it is incredible. It's almost has a bacon undertones. I love it and plan to buy it again. The only concern i had, more of an annoyance, is that the ember goes out a lot. I'll re light it 10 times to get through one bowl, significantly more than ribbon. Then again, I don't have a lot of experience with flake tobacco.

Love the stuff
Love the aroma straight out of the can. When I go easy on the draw and keep the pipe free of moisture, the tobacco will cool and the pre-light aroma will come through. Good stuff!

I have to say that when ordering this blend I had NO idea what I was ordering. When I received the tin I opened it up and immediately fell in love with the aroma which is dark, heady and strong. While enjoying my first bowl full I wasn't sure if I would enjoy smoking this blend but WOW was I ever wrong. With every pipe the flavor kept growing on me and now I don't know how I ever lived without it. A definitively unique smoke like no other. A strong smell from the tin but not from the pipe, has an easy taste that doesn't bite until the very end of a large bowl. I love the crumble cake, getting the tobacco ready to smoke never seems like a chore but an experience to look forward to. A true masterpiece.

Amazing Tobacco
I generally do not smoke tobacco with a casing or topping on it. I believe there is a mild topping on this one. With that said, this is a great English Cake/Flake. I plan on buying more of it once I smoke this tin. I'm very happy I picked this up.
