This Nicaraguan puro proves that Davidoff is still at the top of the heap.
Enter Davidoff Nicaragua, a unique blend that utilizes all Nicaraguan tobaccos - a first for the legendary brand - for a flavor that defies explanation....in a good way. Enjoy their first foray into previously unexplored territory and appreciate this fine quality handmade that features all the attention to detail you've come to expect from a name like Davidoff.
The cigar starts on a high note, with a flawless 10-year-aged Cuban-seed Nicaraguan Rosado wrapper. This vintage leaf is spun lovingly around a blend of long-filler tobaccos hailing from Nicaragua's premier growing regions of Esteli, Condega, and Ometepe. This complex core is then concealed by a rich Jalapa binder, kicking the level of complexity up another notch. Thick, billowing clouds of smoke greet the senses as this slow-burning cigar delivers all the way down to the nub. The best of what Nicaragua has to offer went into this one. And with a name like Davidoff behind it, it should come as no surprise.
Great news! Davidoff Nicaragua earned an impressive 95-rating and the #3 spot of 2013's 'Best Cigars,' noting: "The Toro was our favorite, showing complexity, elegance and balance, with floral notes, hints of coffee and leather and a very long finish. This is a beautiful, elegant smoke that's a worthy addition to the storied Davidoff name.'
Just finished a Robusto. It was my first of this blend. I would rate the experience at around 96 out of a hundred! The construction, burn and quality were top notch. Perfect humidification out of the tubo. From the first lighting puff to the remaining nub, the stick was spot on with a very creamy soft mouth feel and vegetal to leather to wood flavor. With a cost per stick a bit higher than many other very good cigars, I will place these as my 'go to' cigar, when I have had a day that requires a cigar with no risk and guarantee fantastic smoke.
One of the best smokes I've ever tried. I always save them for when I'm relaxing- and I don't share these!
I smoked the Toro yesterday at my local shop. Like many of you, I usually hate on high priced sticks when there's so much quality alternatives out comparable at < 8.00. But, every Davidoff I've smoked reminds me why the cost is what it is. Attention to detail, burn, blending, draw, etc., IMO, make smoking a Davidoff above and beyond any other quality cigar. It's just a different experience, period. The Nicaragua turned out to be be a much different taste than I expected, but, typical to Davidoff, it was even better than the lofty expectations I had going in. I have never tasted anything like this cigar and don't know how to begin to explain it. It has many favors, but, the finish is smooth and creamy. Beware, it sneaks up on you. It does not at all feel overpowering, but, I stumbled out of the shop.
I have been smoking cigars for many years so you can imagine how rare it is to say "This cigar is the best I ever had". That time has come! THIS IS THE BEST CIGAR I EVER HAD! I had the 5X50 and smoked it til my fingers burned!
It has a fairly robust Nicaraguan profile and a nice draw. I bought a 4 pack of the robusto tubo, and am disappointed by how dry they are. So far, the wrappers have cracked with barely a touch. Didn't expect that from Davidoff.
Just when you come to expect the finest from Davidoff, they hit another winner with this one. Smooth, delectible, a special occasion piece.
Just finished a fine cigar about 20 minutes ago, and WOW!! A box is definitely in order. Silky smooth draw. Thick beautiful smoke. A must have for that right moment.
This is one of the best in the Toro size. Not any everyday cigar, but good for that special occasion.
