Great little humidifier for the price
Great little humidifier for the price, like the title says. :)

Size = How many to use.
I have a 150 count humidor and both of these work great and keep it around 70% humidity. I'm using two for my humidor and it works better than other packs that I've used before. One for 50 count humidor works excellent as well.

CI always does a great job of getting cigars to APO's. The shipping time from date of purchase to date received was 3 weeks, nothing CI could have done differently to get them here quicker but the long shipping time definitely dried out the cigars. CI, perhaps add a few humicare packets to orders shipping to APOs to keep the cigars fresh in transit. Thanks for what you do! Zach

The smiley humidifier is a
The smiley humidifier is a much better replacement for the sponge type humidifier. It seems to keep a more consistent humidity level than the sponge type with the 50/50 cigar juice mix. A couple of things. I soacked mine in distilled water for about 30 mins before installing. The next day when checking it and the new hygrometer I purchased at the same time, I discovered that the housing 'sploded from over saturated beads. A suggestion would be to slightly reduce the number of beads or design a positive locking feature on the humidifier to keep the beads contained under pressure of expansion. My soluton was to take out a few beads and tape the edges. Other than that, it works well and looks cool. Now make larger rectangular or long oval replacements with the smiley and beads.

Go for it!
Great piece of kit. Keeps my 100 humidor right in the sweet spot. Oh, don't put too much water in, though, the gel beads will expand and try to escape.

Needs setup instructions.
I set the humidifier in a small dish with distilled water. About 30 mins after I came back, the plastic cover exploded, as the beads had grown too big for the container. I cleaned up the mess with gloves and wipes, threw a little less than half of the gel crystals into the humidifier, and closed it back up for use. CI should probably put about half as many crystals in the container. I think I'll let the crystals in my dish dry out, and put them in a plastic bag. When the humidifier stops working, I'll empty the old crystals, and put the dried ones in. Will likely extend the life of the humidifier by x2. Overall, though, I'm a little upset that no instructions exist for the gel crystal humidifier. People probably need to know to use distilled water, how much water they should use, if the humidifier shouldn't be totally immersed (to avoid weakening the magnet's backing glue), and if the humidifier should be wiped off before use, to avoid excess water getting into a humidor.

So far so good
Bought this to replace foam humidifier in small desktop humidor and the humidity has been very steady. I’d recommend for a step up from green foam for sure.

Works Very well
I have a desktop Humidor and this keeps it at 55%RH at about 70 degrees F. My other one stopped working and the difference was immediate when I put this one into use. I recommend it.

It opened in the middle
I seemed to have over filled one of them and it came open in the middle. I'm not sure how much distilled water needs to go into it the first time but I didnt think I over filled it

Smiley humidification
It was little difficult to get it to absorb the water to start with, but once I gave it enough time, it did great. It is doing much better at keeping the humidity at the proper level than the one I had before

A Worthy Smile!
I have bought several of these over the years. It doesn't last forever but it works well, and the price is very reasonable. I have noticed recently that when you first use it, it will usually open up due to the crystals expanding. I simply eliminate some of the expanded crystals and snap it back into place. The first time will usually take care of it. Eventually as time goes on, the crystals will stop absorbing water and you will need to replace it. It does work very well for the amount of time that it is functional.

CI Smiley Gel Humidifier
A great product,it keeps my humidor humidity in the right parameters. It's real simple to use,if you can hear the balls rattle when it's shaken,it's time to add water. Not like the old style units where you have to go by the weight, and guess if it needs water.I'll definitely get another one when it's time.

Smiley Humidifier
Great low maintenance humidifier. Add water once a month and they're good for about a year. I'm on my 3rd one and still have no complaints.

Perfect Humidifier!
It was quite difficult to find a humidifier of the right size. Most that I found were too big for what I needed. I recently ran into this one, bought it, and it's exactly what I needed.

Struggling to gain humidity
I have the Napoleon II humidor. I purchased two of these and have had them in the humidor for about two weeks now and can't get it to go above 60%. I have added felt to the humidor on all rails and sealing surfaces. I re wiped the humidor 6 hours ago and placed some distilled water in the bottom. It seems to be holding 70% now but that's with water in there and recently wiping down the entire humidor. Salt testing a hygrometer now to make sure I'm getting an accurate reading later today. Pretty sure I'll have to purchase other humidifiers to get ample humidity. I purchased two of them as in the Q&A section a response to someone's question under the Napoleon humidor was to place two of these units in there and that it would be sufficient. Not seeing it at this point.

No intructions, fell apart
I got this on clearance. It came with no instructions, so I assumed it was like other gel humidifiers. I immersed it in distilled water and left it to hydrate. When I got back to it, the gel balls had swollen so much that they had forced apart the halves of the humidifier and many of them had escaped into the water. I took it out of the water and waited to see if they would shrink, but they didn't. In addition the humidifier halves didn't go back together. I threw it away.

So far so good
Went I charged it the first time I let it soak 5 minutes and then dumped off the excess water. It went up to 78% humidity and then slowly dropped to 65% over a period of a week. The second charge I left it soak for 10 minutes. It came up to 72% and them settled down to 70% where it has stayed for 6 days now. I think it is broke in now and looks good.

Long Lasting Humidifier
The crystal gel lasts a long time.I "rattle" mine to see if it needs to be refilled. with the hard crystals, you guess.

It Works
Fill it with DISTILLED water, let it sit for 5 minutes, shake off the excess then you have humidification for a month or two. I made the mistake of using tap water with my last one, and had mold on all my cigars...thankfully there were only 7 in my little jar humidor, but they had to be thrown away. Use distilled water!

gel bead humidifiers
Humidifiers were filled with very few small/tiny beads..I actually filled them up with additional larger beads that I had available from another 4 oz humiliate jar...I expected more adequately filled containers. ...
Customer Testimonials
Great little humidifier. The logo is a bit large, but no complaints from me. It gets the job done.
A little big for small humidors (25-50). It only allows about half the capacity, but gets the job done right.
Excellent addition
Be careful when hydrating the gel. While soaking for the first time, the gel balls inside expanded too large and popped the plastic casing rendering it useless.
are just the right size for my smaller humidor haven't activated them yet so not sure how they'll work
This is really cool and I love opening my humidor to the smiley face; however, although it looks to be the same size as the original that came with my humidor, I find I have to keep hydrating it often. Perhaps I have a bigger humidor than I thought? I definitely want to get more.
Good quicky & cheap
I love the price (Make Me An Offer price was awesome!), but it's quite frustrating when the beads pop the lid off the puck. It's easy enough for me to remove what won't fit afterward, but I'm glad I was there to see it actually pop. I would have been very unhappy to come back a day later and see beads all over my sticks. For those of you who caught my comment above, Make Me An Offer is a great way to score great deals on items like this!
FELLOW CI ADDICTS! Just wanted to give a quick warning about this product in regards to prep. The product comes with no instructions, however after a great conversation with customer service, I have found the map to perfecting this product. But anyways guys, just go ahead and take a "shot glass" of distilled water and pour it over the opening of the humidifier, or until you see that the water is covering the base of the top. DO THIS FOR NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES! After that, drain whatever excess water is in the unit, and BAM! You're good to go!! CAN'T THANK CI ENOUGH FOR THEIR INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
love the cigars and the prices but last time 2 out of 5 were bad to cigars way to dry.
I sure hope the crystal gel humidifiers live up to the hype. Just soaked mine per directions and the 10 for my 100 ct humi worked great but the round one separated and had to fish all the gel balls out of the water and maybe half went back in! Really does anyone test these things? Maybe they are overfilled? That's alright though, after taking the foam out of my old round one i now have 2 round gel humidifiers! :-)

The smiley crystal gel humidifiers are a must have. In the past I struggled to get good results with oem clay humidiers. The fluctuations and constant maintenance was downright stupid. I noticed immediate improvement in my 50 count humidifier and within a week no wild humidity fluctuations. Anyone with a desktop humi will benefit from these. No more flaking wraps no more hair pulling...thanks.

The CI Smiley humidifier(CI Smiley Crystal Gel Humidification) works as advertised! I was struggling to keep both my 20 and 40 count humidors over 65% using only the OEM humidity elements now that winter's drier air is here. Even refilling them daily, I couldn't get it done and the impact on my cigars was noticeable: flaking wrappers; hot, quick burns and airy draws. In desperation, I ordered two "Smileys" to see if the propylene glycol gels lived up to the hype, and I'm happy to report that both humidors now sit at 68% and I haven't had to re-wet the gels since the initial soaking several weeks ago. Fully convinced, I next ordered the Humi-Care HX10 for my 100-count humidor with similar results. And the cigars? Oh, yeah, baby, they're back to even burns and steady draws!

Among other reasons, C.I.s Smiley humidifier, is perfect for the 40 count boxes that have small humidifiers and no gauge. It's a very reliable safety net.
