The finest money can buy

“Dependable” is one of those words that gets thrown around a lot in the cigar game, but what does it really mean? Well, to me it means that you know what you’re getting. Whether it’s three in the afternoon or three in the morning, whether there’s rain, snow, or sweltering heat, whether you just found out that your old baseball card is worth six figures or whether you just got your credit card statement after your wife’s little shopping spree, it will deliver the exact same performance. Dependability. It’s a quality that’s often taken for granted, and one that deserves much more credit than it’s given.

Talk about Ashton cigars and within a couple of sentences, dependability is bound to come up. Made in the Dominican, they combine an aged blend of mellow Dominican tobacco leaves with a golden brown Connecticut shade wrapper. The result of this pairing is rich and smooth, with a mellow to medium body that boasts universal appeal. Well-made, good quality, satisfying, and yes, highly dependable – these are the things that Ashton is made of.

To be savored!
Ashton Classics have been a staple in my humidor for years. I like trying different cigars including some cheepo's like Fumas etc. But when I sit on my porch with a martini to relax, I go to the Ashton. Always good, never harsh and great burn and draw. What I really like are the pepper notes. Nice zing on the tongue. Cigar opens up after the first inch so be patient. Sometimes I'm not looking for a powerhouse. This fits the bill nicely.

OK but required constant attention.
Cigar would go out if not constantly smoked. Taste was OK but not as good as expected.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT — DELIVERY TIME A LITTLE SLUGGISH
Excellent customer service. The box of cigars took a couple of weeks to get to me in Los Angeles. That delivery time would be okay if we were talking about toasters or placemats, but fine cigars need to be fresh. If you spend $200 on a single box of Ashtons, you want it delivered quickly so you can get them in a humidor.

i agree with others that this is one of the most consistent cigars out there..mild yet peppery and smooth...will not have you spitting every minute like some of the full strength powerhouses..was my first cigar a few years ago and still in my humidor

Ashton Sovereign.
Great cigar, mild as I like them. They do seem to burn a bit quick, so the length of the smoke is shorter than I would expect for this premium cigar. Otherwise, enjoyed them!

Perfect Panatela!
in the past few years, cigar manufacturers have been pushing the larger cigar ring gauges. This Ashton panatela provides flavor and consistency even at the smaller size. This is definitely a down to the nub finger burner excellent smoke!

Don't waste your money!
Great tasting but they don't stay lit. Sitting outside smoking with my coffee taking 3 to 4 puffs a minute and I have had to re-lit about 15 times. This is unexceptable for the price. Won't buy again. This was pretty typical for the whole 5 pack.

Ashton is always a great smoke
not much to say other than this is an excellent smoke. Always smooth, always creamy. Ashton has the BEST consistency I've come across in their cigars. This holds its ash incredibly well, signifying that's rolled by people who really know their stuff, and the flavor never disappoints. I'm a longtime Ashton fan. Their maduro is my all time favorite smoke. It'll blow your doors off!

Ashton Magnum
Smoked these sticks on a family vacation to Disneyland. We all found these smokes to be very smooth right down to the very nub. It is a mild cigar but still enough flavor to be enjoyable, and terrific with a nice Islay Scotch. I would definitely buy these again.
Customer Testimonials
I'm having one right now. Very smooth, but the wrapper is coming apart. Was a Fathers Day give, so I'm not complaining. I'll definitely be buying some for my humidor. From CI, of course!!!
Smoked a robusto this morning with my coffee. DELICIOUS. Very smooth and creamy on the palate, and just got smoother the more I smoked it. Totally blown away. This and the Rocky Connecticut blend are indeed good smokes!
I bought 4 tins of 10 blue Ashton Senoritas. Great, little cigar; nice 15 to 20 min smoke.... nice, smooth taste and creamy. I would tell my friends about these gems....
AMAZING. I smoked one of these bad boys a few days ago; even burn, perfect construction, and consistent in flavor. Even though it's mild to medium, it's still a good smoke. Pricey? Yes! Is it worth every penny? ABSOLUTELY
AH and MM, Im guessing you are having humidification problems. This cigar has so many transitions its hard to keep up. The construction is always top notch. I have never once had a burn issue, and I have smoked over 2 boxes of them. Make sure you are storing them properly, and if buying from CI let them rest for a few weeks in a properly maintained Humi before smoking. If you got them from a B&M they nay not be keeping proper humidity. B&M's are terrible at that. You can never go wrong with CI, but take their advice and let them rest in a humidor for a few weeks to recover from shipping.
I'm new to the whole cigar thing but I just got done with a Robusto and I thought it was awesome. Really smooth flavor but kinda one dimensional and leaves a light after taste on the tip of your tongue. Build quality was superb but the draw was a little tight. Idk if it was worth the $10 I paid for it at my local shop but a good cigar. Give it a try, I don't think you'll regret it.
This is quality all around. I enjoy the Magnum on the way to work in the morning. This cigar is a creamy, mild and mellowy sensation. The aroma of this cigar is heaven sent! When I arrive at work, I get compliments from the ladies; "What kind of Cigar's do you smoke?" "I just love the way those cigars smell on you". Robert Levin does it right and this is one of my all time favorite smokes.
A great cigar. I bought the 10 sampler and just top quality all the way. I got the feeling they were made with pride by the way they were packaged, the perfect construction and high quality tobaccos used. Sure they're pricey, but sometimes you just have to splurge...I will be back for these!
A friend on the job gave me a 7 x 50 Ashton Vintage. Oh my God that was good- I mean too dam good. Perfect burn and that aroma was great...These are a for sure buy. I need to stock a few in my humidor. Ashton Vintage I really can say that I've enjoyed every puff, smell an taste.
Ive had a few of the churchills and they are smooth and a top shelf blend for sure, but more than once there have been construction issues..it seems the heat splits open the wrapper in spots and once it starts it only gets worse. Very unfortunate and not expected for a brand with this reputation..maybe I just had bad luck with a batch.
Just getting into cigars and the Ashton corona is by far the best I've had. Tried Hemingway Short Story, liked em so I bought a box. Tried an Onyx, tried a Rocky Patel 1999 torpedo, tried some others. Nothing has come close to the smoothness of this smoke. Hate that I'm gonna have to fork over so much $ for these, but they're too good not to.
Ashton's cigars are the smoothest ones out there in my opinion, and you can't get a better deal than what CI offers!

Ashton Vintage Cabinet Series

Steve R

Since I’ve been leaning towards the lighter side of cigars lately, I figured I’d treat myself to one I’ve never had. Indeed, finding one was a task in of itself, almost as difficult as forking out the dough to try the chosen cigar, Ashton Vintage, otherwise known as the Cabinet Series, or Cabinet Selection. Whatever you want to call it, Ashton is a consistent cigar that receives a lot of praise, so I thought it would be nice to sit back with the upgraded vintage version.

I chose the #1, a humungous 9”x52 figurado. This thing is huge, and the Connecticut shade wrapper is a work of art – smooth and shiny with no veins. The construction seems top notch - it’s thoroughly filled with 6 different Dominican tobaccos, leaving no room for a soft spot. After cutting the well-applied cap I light up and am on my way. The draw is tight off the start, making it a struggle to produce any smoke and pull in any flavor. My co-workers probably think I left for the day, since they’re used to seeing clouds billowing from my desk at any given moment. After a few minutes the draw opens up a little, easing my mind, and coating my palate with a light creaminess. For such a large cigar, the flavor is subtle and smooth, while leaving the slightest aftertaste on the tip of my tongue. Now that the draw has opened up a bit, I settle in for the ride feeling better about today’s pricey purchase.

After about 15 minutes I begin to realize that although the ride is free of bumps and potholes, I’ve yet to encounter any fun curves and hills. Instead, it’s a 45mph, cruise control drive on a long, straight road. The flavor is nice, but flat. One wouldn’t expect this from a cigar that employs 6 different tobaccos under this pretty wrapper. But, I give it the benefit of the doubt, keep my foot on the gas and continue on with tonight’s ‘gar de jour. There isn’t much more to report on this cigar. Other than a tight draw, it’s mellow, creamy and smooth, but rather one dimensional. If I were a golfer, I might bring one to the course with me, since it’s light enough to accompany a case out in the sun. But I’m not, so instead I’ll hand these off to my friends that don’t smoke too often - they’ll probably appreciate them more. After nearly 2 hours on the road with the Ashton Vintage, I’ve decided that I can do better for the price. Actually, I know I can.

Ashton Majesty

Jeff K

The Ashton Classic line has been a force in the world of mellow cigars ever since their release. They’re not cheap, but they deliver every time. A consistently well-made, smooth Dominican handmade that has a long-time reputation for quality. Ashton was one of the first cigars I really enjoyed, but I later dismissed them for being too gentle and uneventful for my tastes. I like Connecticut wrappers and I like mellow on occasion. But with prices upwards of $10, I just couldn’t justify the regular Ashton purchase. Recently, my opinion changed.

Last year, Ashton released a new size in their Classic line, the Ashton Majesty. This 6” x 56 vitola looks like all of the other sizes in the Ashton Classic line. Same bands, same box - just a bigger size. Not really that exciting. But when I actually got around to smoking one, I realized that this size is special. A little searching would reveal that the Majesty size employs a slightly different blend than all of the rest. It utilizes the same Connecticut shade wrapper overtop a tweaked blend of filler tobaccos. It’s still all Dominican, but the tobaccos included within considerably more rich and robust.

In appearance, the Majesty is a nice as any. Featuring a smooth, oily, chestnut Connecticut leaf and near flawless construction, this is obviously a well made, premium cigar representative of the Aston brand. When you get into it, you’ll realize that it definitely has some more body than the standard Ashton – more medium-bodied rather than mellow. But the extra flavor that’s included is what puts the Majesty in a different league. It burns straight, draws perfectly and has that creamy, smooth Connecticut smoke, but the underlying flavors are what make the Majesty so good. With a warm aroma, a decent amount of pepper, and a rich array of flavors including earth, cedar, cream, coffee, spices and a slightly sweet finish, Ashton Majesty is interesting and balanced. As it burns, it builds in body and the flavors intensify until an exciting finale. It’s hard to describe why its better, but it just is. It has more flavor, it has more strength, but it retains all of the same elegant and refined qualities as its smoother counterparts. That’s what is most impressive.

It’s hard to justify the nearly $10 per stick price, but I’ve really become a fan. There’s just something interesting and charming about this blend that keeps me wanting more. It’s perfect in the morning and can hold its own after a full meal. It’s surprisingly good anytime. So if you like Ashton, this takes it up a notch. And if you normally avoided Ashton, this size may make you think twice.
