Alec Bradley Tempus

A 94-rated masterpiece.

Here it is, quite possibly the crowning achievement of Alec Bradley Cigars. Tempus is truly boutique, right down to the tobaccos used. The Habano-seed wrapper hails from a small tobacco field located on the border of Nicaragua and Honduras, capturing the rich, hearty flavors of Honduras. This leaf is dark and leathery, and conceals a complex mixture of Cuban-seed long-fillers grown in both Nicaragua and Honduras. The cigar explodes with rich, but smooth flavors noting toasted wood and nuts. The finish is long and peppery with an enjoyable sweetness.

The Magistri is a special size produced in limited quantities. Only 1,000 boxes were produced total, and each of these perfectos utilize a higher priming wrapper that is darker in color.

Thanks to a well-deserved '94' rating, the Alec Bradley Tempus was named one of the Top 25 Cigars of the Year! "Dark and attractive with an effortless draw, this cigar produces a rich, semisweet smoke, leaving balanced impressions of wood and nuts. Big, delicious flavor."

Good consistent quality from Alec Bradley.
This is my second box of AB Tempus from Cigars International. They are great cigars: good firm draw even though they need a touch up sometimes, full bodied but also full of nuisanced flavor and a good value and quality level for the price. Your customer service needs to improve in order for me to give a higher star rating for this buying experience.

Not my favorite
I wish I had bought the Alec Bradley Post Embargo instead. These are too funky for me. Not a fan. Wish I could swap out for the PE Gordo! But they were not offered at the time?

Compares Well With Arturo Fuentes
I was very skeptical about trying this brand - thought it was yet another second-tier product subjected to hyper marketing. I was so wrong! Great rich, deep flavor and beautiful burn. My benchmark is AF for quality and satisfaction and this cigar met that standard at half the price. I was shocked and delighted.

Very disappointed.
Based on other reviews I was looking forward to smoking these. To be fair, they have not been aged in humidor, but on my second one and it tastes like I'm smoking a pencil. Heavy graphite and earth flavors. Hard to believe anyone would give the Tempus a 94 rating. Since I'm not inspired to try another, I'll let them sit in humidor for awhile and see if they improve. Rarely disappointed in CI buys so guess I can't complain;Tempus just not to my liking. Will weigh-in again later if aging improves taste.

"Quadrum" means "four sided". And, what do you know, these box-pressed beauties have four sides! Alec Bradey took a sure thing and just made them rectangular-ish. I think they are great. I like a bunch of his stuff. I'll get more when my humi starts running low.

Smooth satisfaction
Picked up in a sampler, outstanding quality, let it rest for about 45 days after receiving. Packed to the brim, no soft spots to be found. Once lit, loads of creamy smoke from the get go, smooth flavor with nuts and cream. Ash was compact, burn was sharp and even. Paired nicely with a bourbon, just shy of 90 minutes to the nub. I will be purchasing 5-10 to keep in the humidor, excellent smoke!

Romantic cigar
Romantic. I say romantic because this a cigar you could have a love affair with. Sweet and creamy leaving an oily feel in your mouth and on your lips. The sweetness disappears just before the wrapper and becomes a heavy flavorful smoke. Another cigar to be smoked slowly, almost two hours of enjoyment.

Fast shipping as always, great smoke and a gret price. I will be buying a box soon.

Buzzed on Tempus
To quote Old Milwaukee "It just doesn't get any better than this"!!!

Best Bradley ever
Getting hard to find in retail shops but so much better than the readily available Tempus Nicaragua.

Complex, Enjoyable Stick.
The first 1/3 was a little to mild for my palate, but the 2nd 1/3 had a nice increase in boldness with a very peppery final 1/3. Appearance was nice, but the burn was a bit erratic, requiring multiple touch ups.

Why didn't I buy more?
Why didn't I buy more? Superb, completely satisfying. Absolutely memorable, memorable smoke. From the first draw I knew this was a very, very special cigar. Only Cohiba and Alec Bradley Tempus Quadrum have gotten five stars from me. Yum.

The shorter it gets the better it gets!
Smoked my first one today and while working on the first third I was thinking I don't get the 94 rating, average at best. But as I started getting into the second third wow the flavors really came together. This thing really turned into an excellent smoke. The best review I can give this cigar is by saying I will definitely be buying more.

Good but...
This is not a bad smoke but for the price there are better choices. Although the burn was even the amount of both smoke and taste were unsatisfying. If you have the money to smoke at his price level for yourself that's great. If you are supplying cigars for a business dinner and want too make an impression without looking like a "spacone" go with the Rocky Patel Royale (I did toros). The Royale is a little more money but instead of being an added expense it became an investment to a memorable evening.

Outstanding Smoke
Great pull, and nice burn. One of my favorite Alex Bradley's stick. It's one of my go to sticks!!

One of the BEST!
I can't describe flavors like others can (Peach, Mountain Man Under wear, burning logs, oakum, etc.) but I sure do know Tobacco! These are just incredible! Enough Said!

AB Cigar Review
I enjoy most of the Alec Bradley brand I've tried and these haven't let me down. It's a good full bodied stogie with a good draw, even burn and moderate smoke. Flavor wise, if I want the taste of cocoa, I'd get a chocolate bar. Same goes for spices, etc. This cigar has a more mild tobacco taste but with enough 'kick' in the right place. Good construction, good smoke, but pricey. Good cigars will never be inexpensive again, though. Fav cigars brands: Perdomo, Oliva, AJ Fernandaz, CAO, Drew Estate, Punch, and some Graycliff. That's the short list, anyway.

So so
Boring taste. Bland. Weak flakey ash, i guess for the price it's not the worst order I've placed, but won't be buying these ever again

Great smoke for the price
Excellent smoke and draw. I recommend this smoke to all Alec Bradley fans and wanna be fans.

A cigar like this is the reason we cigar smokers smoke cigars. Nice and slow burn, easy draw. A cigar to be savored. Is at the top of my list. Thanks Alec Bradley.

An ok smoke
I really liked the prensada, and thought that I would other Alec Bradley's. The temp us lacked flavor of the Prensada, and didn't burn as evenly.

New In MY Top 3
I got one of these in the "motherload 18 sampler" it was great definitely in my top three favorites between Oliva "V" and Oliva "Master Blend 3." Great taste and perfect burn.

A must for your collection!
After trying this cigar for the first time it instantly became a go to favorite. Excellent flavor with a medium full flavor. No leather or dirt taste here, all carmel, spice, espresso, and a hint of nutty. The way the flavors mix and evolve is AMAZING!!!!

5 star cigar!
It's not rated high for nothing. This is a great smoke. Flavor, draw, burn are all nice. Add some to your humidor, you wont go wrong.

… I have to order more!
Wow! Right off the truck, this is awesome! Spicy and delicious. I will certainly let the remainder of my 5'er rest in the humi, but damn… I have to order more. If you haven't tried them yet, just go for it!

Dry cigar
Cigars arrived in dry, cracked condition. Very disappointed because it’s a fine cigar otherwise.

A must try cigar to be included and do your humidor without breaking the bank.
Picked up DeSagana at cigar fest ,wow different mixtures mixture of Cuban seed grown. The cigar is rich yet smooth with toasted almond. The finish is long long lasting with a consistent burn of peppery and nutty notes to the nub. Construction is flawless with the long Ash which keeps the cigar cool throughout the entire smoke. Will definitely include this in my humidor. Price is reasonable considering the consistsnt enjoyable flavorful smoke. Works well paired after dinner witj a nice glass of red wine.

Smooth smoke. Burned uneven. But I enjoyed the cigar

Forget all the flowery words. This cigar is simply magnificent. Well-deserved 94. It's like going to Brazil, people can tell you about it, but you really can't understand until you've tried it.....
5 out of 5
Absolutely deserving of the 94 rating! This is one of the most flavorful and perfectly constructed cigars of all time. From start to finish it was full of rich leather and toated wood notes. The burn was razor sharp and stayed cool all the way to the nub. Worth every penny and is a staple in my humidor. 10 out of 10.....
Customer Testimonials
Fantastic cigars; high quality, great burn and superb tasting.
Having just received my sampler this morning, I opted to have a cigar and a scotch before bed tonight. The first cigar I grabbed was the Alec Bradley Tempus. My first impressions are very good of this cigar; pretty good burn and smooth draw, slight sweetness (very slight) with a hint of pepper on the nose and creamy on the exhale . Pairs nicely with the Balvenie 14yr old Caribbean cask.
It's 10:30pm, late December. My birthday! I intend to enjoy the last 1 & 1/2 hours of it smoking a 7" X 49 Centuria Churchill from the Alec Bradley Tempus line. Prensado, Tempus, Man-O-War, San Lotano Habano & Diesel. The high five in my mind. Tempus holding the 2nd position. So a great choice to help me celebrate getting another year older. What can I tell you about Tempus you may not already know? It's fantastic! Delicious! Complex! & expensive. $8.00 or $9.00 per vitola in this size. Well over the line of what I consider affordable, but one fine example of the blending art at its finest. I jump all over any deals I find on this blend. Every size I have tried rocks. The Terra Nova robusto, Magnus gordo toro & the Quadrum box- pressed gordo robusto being my favorites. Fullheads should love this blend!
I have only been into cigars for about 5 months. But in those months I have tried quite a few top notch sticks. So far, this one is my favorite. And I have tried the XX opus, Nat Sherman's and many more good smokes. I am not good yet at picking out specific flavors, but whatever this cigar has, is alright by me!
I recently bought my son a five pack of Opus X Lost City for his birthday and we enjoyed them immensely. We smoked one of these on the heels of finishing that pack and this stick held its own and then some! If I had to choose well I would give this AB stick the nod.
This was an awesome smoke. No burn issues, great medium stick with loads of flavor. Good to the nub!
I got this cigar in a 4 pack Alec Bradley sampler for 12 bucks. One of the best 3 dollar cigars I've ever had, because they are normally 8 bucks a piece. By the way im smoking it while im writing this review. Thanks CI!
Smooth, sweet, perfection.
The ultimate test. I saved Tempus for last, in a series of reviews of the top Alec Bradley offerings, regarding burn issues, if any, as they pertain to &/or affect the overall experience. Whew! Magnus is the choice. A beefy 6" X 58rg monster, that has received several months of aging at 70% humidity. 1st, Tempus is delicious. A top 5 cigar, in my mind. A treat to be savored. Hopefully, sans any hint of a burn issue. We shall see. I carefully remove the foot band, which I despise, to avoid any tears in the wrapper. Magnus is heavy, firm & burns flawlessly for the 1st 30 minutes. I expect a 90 minute session, so 1st 3rd is just enjoying a very distinct & satisfying blend that delivers scads of flavorful smoke. Nuts, cedar, citrus, just to name a few nuances in this gem. Med/Full bodied, definitely full flavored. Never harsh, yet always evolving, Tempus has few peers in its complexity.... Tempus gets a 96/100.... The ash is still intact at 35 minutes. Burn is not completely even, but requires no touch ups. Tempus performs very well, with only a slight tendancy to tunnel.... We always want a perfect burn, particularly when we have real money invested. Tempus is no problem, although in the course of this investigation, some Alec Bradley's have had issues.... It's a shame & hopefully AB can address the issue, solve it & keep us ABHeads coming back for more of all their wonderful blends.
This is a very good cigar. Great construction, great draw. The only down side for me was an issue with a run through out the cigar but otherwise very well made and great taste.
one lite and it was an amazing magic carpet ride great burn ..taste ..draw..pre lit draw taste of dried figs..raisins.prune... overall one of the best i have smoked....
For those who are experiencing burn problems with Tempus or with almost any Alec Bradley offering, try this little trick I use. I have a special small humidor I call the "dry-aging" humi. Keeping the relative humidity at a constant level just under 60% helps correct the issues reported by several reviewers. A month or two of aging at this reduced humidity level works wonders with what I call wet roll cigars. I keep all my AB blends here, as well as any others that tend to have re-lighting problems or irregular burn issues. Setting your Tempus or Family Blend vitola out an hour or two before you light it helps dry out the wrapper a bit too. The immense amount of oils present in the superior wrapper leaves used in their construction is part of the problem. Try this & see if you don't have a better burn, which will allow you to enjoy some of the finest cigars available, sans the frustrations.
...The prelight draw is excellent and flavorful, but the cigar CAN NOT be kept lit. I've tried 3 different sizes (churchill, corona and box-press), the cigars are all stored properly and aged at least 180 days prior to lighting, and the issue persists in all formats.... Avoid them.
I must be the only person to get a bad box. I bought the corona size and they "breath hard", they keep going out and then get real hot when I try to keep them burning.
I must say I was totally underwhelmed by this cigar. For all the talk of big flavor I found it to be very one dimensional and boring.
Another top quality cigar in the line of great smokes from Alec Bradley. In a list of my top 10 favorite cigars, AB owns 3. The Tempus Quadrum, Maxx The Fix & Black Market robusto. I love Prensado & Family Blend too, but have seen a few burn issues with those 2 blends. Not so with Tempus. Spot on construction, cool, even burn & medium/full bodied flavor in droves. I have taken advantage of the recent upgrade deal & ordered a box of the Maxx Brazil. I can't wait to try them, along with the Connecticut & Nica Puro, which I have not yet experienced. If the word is not yet out, it is only a matter of time. Alec Bradley is a major player & produces some of the finest blends in the business. Do yourself a favor & order a box. If you are like me, you will be glad that you did.
Just finished my first Alec Bradley Tempus today with a bottle of Coffee Porter Ale. Can't find enough superlatives to describe this cigar! It definitely is a player with the big flavor bombs: Pardron, Olivia V, Ava Maria, San Cristobal etc..
In your face, bold, full bodied flavor.... Not for the faint of heart, the Quadrum draws effortlessly, releasing clouds of spice filled goodness that wash over the palate in waves of peppery goodness. Cinnamon, cedar, chocolate, miraid flavors ebb & flow as the burn progresses. Well worth the asking price. Highly recommended.
Smoked a quadrum, bought the box the same day. Top drawer of my "special" humi. Enough said.
Yummy & delicious! The 94/5/6 rated masterpiece of the Alec Bradley line of 90+ puros. Don't overlook Prensado, Family Blend, Maxx or Black Market, either. With the current flight sampler upgrade promotion, I am grabbing a box of the Maxx Brazil & will certainly follow up with at least one more box, if I can just decide which one to try. American Blend, Connecticut, Sun Grown or Harvest Selection, my bet is you can't go wrong with any blend these guys offer. Can't wait to receive my 1st load of Alec Bradley 'gars! These are the kind of offers I love. Thanks CI, for making delicious cigars like Alec Bradley available at a per stick cost that keeps me on budget.
What a nice cigar and a great experience. If you are in limbo do not be, just get it light it and enjoy it!! Thank you AB and CI Thank you.
Picked up one of these at my local smoke shop. I had just smoked a prensado and i wanted to try some of the other AB lines. When i first lit it, I thought "wow! amazing." It was a little wet judging from the trouble staying lit, but nevertheless it was another amazing smoke. My hat's off you to Alec Bradley for making another amazing smoke. I'll be buying a box of these along with the prensado. If you havent tried these yet, you must. Trust me.
Dang...!!!! That's all I can say! It has me speechless.... I can't believe these arnt twice the price....
I love smoking the Tempus, I know why its rated so high nice draw excellent flavor, and the ash seems to grow and grow, very nice stick, I will be purchasing more, Alec Bradley this a keeper.
I got this in a sampler and sat in the humidor for a month. Good firm feel, great construction and burn, easy draw. Smells great at first lite and during the smoke. Nice looking with a reddish wrapper and a striking band. Did not care for the dark gray ash, but thought, anybody who knows cigars and appreciates them, would say " he is smoking something really special ", and I was. Thank you
My all time favorite cigar is the CAO Maduro Churchill. Hands down this is a great cigar for the money. Even burn, great taste and a flawless cigar. I was in the CI Nazareth store last weekend and spoke with one of the staff. He pointed me towards the Alec Bradley Tempus and stated that it was a 94 rated smoke and that I would not be disappointed. He was right ! This cigar is made for a Friday night on the deck after a great grilled steak. I poured myself some Absolut and lit it up. Oh Boy............! This cigar is smoooooooooooth. It feels like an expensive piece of leather. I torched the foot and spent the next hour and a half enjoying a truly remarkable smoke. It smokes slow with tastes of leather, nuts, cream and coffee. It's a bit pricey, but worth the coin. Like I said, it is not an everyday cigar. But, when you need some quality time and a friend, this cigar is it.
I have a wide variety of great sticks in my humi, and try to cycle my daily smoke. That said, I look for excuses to keep going with tempus, and am currently smoking #4 (out of a 10pk) within 10 days. I love the first one, and they have only grown on me since. Great draw, bold flavorful smoke, and a cool even burn the whole way down. 94 is conservative IMO. This is a MUST have!
I am far from a fan of any type of pressed cigars, but Quadrum Tempus that I purchased on Make me an offer, may have been an exception. After asking which cigar came close to a Cuban Cohiba Siglo VI, I was told to try this one. My vocabulary does not have the words to express how much I enjoyed this cigar. After an inch, I forgot all about the shape it was due to the enjoyment of the flavor and well over an even 2 inch ash. In fact, I may order a box of the Quadrums since I don't won't to take a chance on another shape. One person has already said it, and said it well. At first it comes across as a bit of power house, then levels out to a cigar that you will smoke till your fingers burn and want more. One of the best purchase's I have made on any cigar that wasn't Cuban. So good, I will face the wrath of my wife when I order another box of high priced cigars.
This is an Awesome Smoke(Tempus). Starts off with a STRONG Spice for a split second..then the rest is pure BLISS.
If I was stuck on an island... Well, you know the rest.
Just smoked the robusto...when I saw 94 rated I doubted it. It instantly had the bold toasted and nutty flavors when I lit it up which continued through the first 1/3 of the cigar. In the middle it went from nutty to peppery and back again. The finish for me lightened up a little and stayed peppery. Hard to argue against a 94 rating.
Smoked a Quadrum today after having it in the humi for a few weeks. First off it has a very nice heft in the hand and is clearly very well made as it had a perfect burn and ash. TONS of smoke with lots of rich flavor to go with it. One of my favorites and I will look to get more. It is right up there with the 5 Vegas AAA but perhaps a bit more refined. I give it a 91.
All I can say is about this cigar is WOW!! I just had the pleasure of enjoying a quadrum in the coolish middle east night air. This being my first box-press I wasn't sure what to expect, but I know the folks at CI should be expecting an order for a box to be shipped out this way. What a great cigar!! Full of spice and flavor, but no where near overpowering. Consistent and smooth the whole way down to the nub.
This cigar absolutely lives up to it's rating and hype. It is a wonderful smoke with perfect draw. Leave them in the humi for a week or more if they are too wet when you get them as otherwise the burn may be adversely affected. That little bit of time makes a world of difference. This is my "second favorite" cigar just behind MAXX.
Upon opening the package from C.I. I was so curious to see if all the hype around this cigar was the "Real Deal".. Falling to my impetuous curiosity I smoke one that day ..and honestly I was not having gotten a 5 pack I left the remaining four in my humidor for 2 weeks... WHAT A DIFFERENCE... Toothy wrapper, velvety smooth texture, mild to medium smoke from start to finish this is a High End Cigar ....thank you mister Bradley !
I tried the quadrum box pressed today while playing golf. I was expecting a whole lot more but it was not a bad smoke. I would give it a 3 out of 5. Three reasons. (1)Burn was uneven. (2) Draw was a little tight. (3) Multiple relights. The flavor was exceptional but the technical fact that I had to baby this cigar made it undesirable. There were flavors of espresso and dark chocolate. Full flavor. Nice peppery tingle in the nose. Maybe I just had a bad one. I have one more in my humi so I will let it marinate for a few more months.
The last full bodied cigar I smoked was a Ruination. I think I (if correct) one fan mail said, "when God smokes a cigar this is what he smokes." I agree, but if God has a wife and she bitches when he smokes inside the house unless it's an ABSOLUTE perfect cigar. A.B. Tempus is what she smokes. WOW! 94... How bout 100.
This is one dynamite cigar! From first light to the last puff, this was one of the most enjoyable and tasteful cigars . This cigar truly has earned it's 94 rating!
Damn this is a nice cigar. Not great about describing flavors etc. But perfect construction, fantastic draw and oh so smooth. No nasty aftertaste, would get more in a heartbeat!
"Only thing to say is Bravo,Bravo could not put it down"...
This is one of the Holy Grails of cigars and it is worth every cent. I have smoked a lot of them and I keep coming back for more. Full bodied but smooth as velvet. I am fond of the box pressed Quadrum and the Terra Novo robusto sizes. Great construction and burn, rich and nutty with a peppery finish that is not overpowering. As good if not better than an Ashton VSG at a better price.
What a phenomenal cigar! A few days after receiving it in the mail, I lost all discipline and smoked one. I'm always hesitant to do this because most cigars, even the best, need some marinating time in the humidor before the true and intended taste materializes. Lighting this up was like a sucker punch. Little flowers and angels swirled above my head in disoriented fashion. Wowser! This may be the best cigar I've ever smoked and I've been smoking cigars a very long time. Allan're my hero. I will wash your car everyday for the rest of your life if you ask me.
Well I haven't had the pleasure of trying this cigar yet (the 5 packs were sold out), but I was reading the feedback where SC of Shreveport, LA was talking about the "Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles" being a good cigar. I agree, Its one of my favorites, but I wanted to add that the "Padilla 1932 Signature" tastes a WHOLE lot like it. Almost identical, only the Padilla is a little stronger. :-)
I'm pretty finicky when it comes to cigars that impress me. This AB Tempus is the most distinct tasting sticks I have ever had the pleasure of smoking. If every smoke is going to count then these should be in every connoisseur's humidor. Invigorating, smooth, complex with leather, allspice, white pepper and something more that is beyond my limited vocabulary.
Had a boxed pressed Quadrum this morning with coffee. have try this. Coffee and this cigar were made for each other.
OMG, this is a wonderful treat that leaves me wishing I was rich enough to smoke nothing else.
this is one of the best cigars I've had in a while! I normally play it safe and stick to the brands I know: dpg, padron, some padillas & rps. but the buzz about this cigar tempted me to buy a 5 pack of quadrums. this is one of the most complex & tastiest sticks I've ever had. slow burning, excellent construction, perfect draw, you name it. this one's got it all! I give it a 96!
I bought a 10-pack of the Alec Bradley Tempus Quadrums during a JAM and wow, great cigar! The Quadrum, a box pressed version of the Tempus had so much flavor. The prelight draw was effortless and gave notes of spice with slight cedar. Once lit, the cigar produced clouds of creamy smoke; it started off very spicy, a little peppery almost and then remained spicy the rest of the way, adding just a hint of coffee at the end. A very good, full-bodied smoke, highly recommended, this box pressing really brings out the flavors!
The Tempus a very flavorful cigar. They get even better with a little aging. I have tried about all of the sizes and the Magistri is by far my favorite. More complex, it builds in intensity and flavor as the smoke progresses. Very enjoyable
The Alec Bradley Tempus churchill is a very tasty cigar. It is earthy sweet w/ cedar undertones. However, after smoking about 4 inches of it, I was ready to retire it---on 3 separate occasions. I was tired of it after awhile. It seemed to dry out my tongue. Maybe I need to smoke the robusto---a shorter smoke. My tastes in cigars must be changing significantly because I'm finding that I'm getting bored w/ the flavors of the ones coming out these days. They all sort of seem cookie cutter like. I don't necessarily want a STRONG cigar, just one w/ lots of flavor and oomph. The only brand that I have found to have the flavor and oomph is the Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles.
The Tempus is a lovely cigar. Wonderful construction and excellent flavour. Expensive? Yes, but what of value isn't? Try one; you'll buy more.
I tried a Magnum and found it a grat smoke. Smooth with lots of flavors. I bought a box of robustos (my usua smoke) and found the first of the box just as good. Cuba watch out. I am enjoying it as I type this note.
I was lucky enough to try one of these(Alec Bradley Tempus) when i dropped by a cigar bar in san francisco. It was the robusto size. I read the review in cigar afic and i had high hopes. The churchill was the one given high (94) marks but this size did not let me down at all. It was totally enjoyable. A medium smoke in my opinion and obviously i overpaid for my stick @ $13.99 but it was worth it. I smoked it till my fingers burned. If i get some extra cash or if it was on special right now i would buy box.
I first tried one of these cigars down in San Jose (Alec Bradley Tempus )while having a get together BBQ with some of the guys I served with in Iraq, and also I read about them in the Cigar Aficionado magazine and I bought two of them. For a 94 rating these things were a steal when you figre on the price. The instant I lite up I loved it. This cigar is a work of art no doubt about it, everybody should have at least a box of twenty in their humidor.
