What was the highest non-Cuban cigar on the top 25 Best Cigars of the Year in 2013? Which cigar took home the number 2 spot? Oh, just Aging Room Quattro Original, a small-batch boutique handmade from skilled brand owner Rafael Nodal and the folks behind brands like Romeo y Julieta and Montecristo. If you haven’t been introduced to Aging Room cigars yet, it’s high time you made their acquaintance.
Made using very limited batches of tobacco leaves too small for regular production, these premium handmades are highly unique, highly in demand, and of course, highly limited in scope. Take the Aging Room Quattro Original. Sounds like a luxury sports vehicle, and perhaps rightfully so, because it performs like a dream. A flawless 2003 Sumatra wrapper leaf encircles a mix of Cuban-seed Dominican fillers and a Dominican binder. To finish, each is box-pressed and packaged perfectly.
Aging Room Quattro Original received an esteemed 95-rating and was named #2 Cigar of the Year in 2013 when it was called Quattro F55, with the review noting, "a balanced, sophisticated cigar that displays rich notes of roasted coffee bean and sweet cedar."
Just got my box in a few hours ago. Got back to my place and had a look inside. The box itself is quite intelligent. The presentation is great in the cedar trays. I could see the age in them straight out of the box. The smell was very mellow and begging to smoked, so I felt I must oblige. The burn was was very even. The flavor was beautiful. I was expecting a bit more, but that by means is a down play of the flavors that came about. The draw was great as well as cool. The smoke produced was quite thick all the way through. I find that flavors are subjective to the individual so I will let you identify the underlying notes. This is definitely a cigar you should have in the humidor, and for the price this a power house, in my opinion. Get your hands on this guy now...You will NOT regret it.
Cigars International usually have some of the best prices... With that said, CA's rating is well deserved! Period, and end of story. Easily one of my favorites. The draw to me is good as I do not like a tight draw at all. I have smoked quite a few of Aging Room in various Vitolas and like them all. For me the cigar develops nicely with varying hints of tastes. Burn has always been spot on and construction very nice. This is no "yard gar." I have kept the F55 between 65-69 for humidity and it is not picky how it smokes. Yep I have a Concerto in my hand right now.. So should you!
Got 5 of these in a group buy deal...My buddies did good on this one. Really good flavor, easy draw, perfect burn. Ordered a box of my own for the humi!
Bought a couple (toro size) from my local B&M. They had a special buy one get one free. These seem to be hot right now, was surprised to see them on special like that. Anyway, construction was perfect, draw was a little lose for my liking but not too bad. What I liked: razor sharp burn, good flavor, strength was just about perfect. Didn't like: loose draw, flavor could be more complex, packaged bare no cello. Overall I'd say above average...
