Before you start reading into this too far. Let me first preface something. The band is a little errr goofy, admittedly a bit of a departure from his others, but rest assured what awaits underneath will have you singing the cigar praises. Now that I got that out of the way, it's time to dig into Pinolero, the newest cigar release from A.J. Fernandez.
Introducing Pinolero. A.J.'s latest endeavor into the world of premium top-shelf handmades. The guy never ceases to amaze us, but this time he truly went and out did himself. Carefully crafted in his factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, each Pinolero is patiently crafted, methodically, one aged leaf at a time. The process all starts with a Cuban-seed medley of extensively aged Nicaraguan long-fillers. This rich bouquet is then complemented by a secret filler - known only by the factory's most trusted rollers. Awaiting just beyond this impressive core is a feisty, yet gorgeous Nicaraguan Sun Grown wrapper, boasting an even sheen of ample oils. The end result is a cigar that unleashes layer after layer of savory smoke. Medium to full in body, the balance is immediately evident, as each puff dishes out rich savory smoke that continually evolves. Notes of black pepper, cocoa, coffee, earth, and a nutty sweetness mingle throughout the slow, cool burn. To say Pinolero is well-done would be an understatement. At the risk of doing the cigar injustice I’ll only state this: Epic.
This may be a cigar for you! It is built perfectly with a nice strong wrapper. The draw and burn are perfect giving you ample smoke and standing ash. If you like strong pepper in you smoke then this cigar is 5 stars. For me I found the spicy pepper enjoyable for the first half hour, but the following 45 min it became overwhelming and less enjoyable. So for me it was only a 3 star. I would smoke it again in a smaller size if offered to me, but I won't bother ordering this cigar again.
