Anybody even remotely familiar with fine cigars knows the name E.P. Carrillo. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo is the king of cigars in Miami, and his portfolio includes knockout cigars like the 94-rated E.P. Carrillo Seleccion Oscuro (#4 Cigar of 2016) and the highly coveted, 96-rated E.P. Carrillo Encore Majestic (#1 Cigar of 2018), just to name a few. For his newest release, Ernesto started with 6 different sample blends, and thought long and hard about which was worthy enough to follow in the footsteps of his previous hits. Can’t ever go wrong with a E.P Carrillo! The construction is always such a staple I I look for with a EP. The smoke always packs such a smooth flavor! Another must keep in the humidor.

Picked up a box on the strength of reviews and recommendations alone, and again was reminded of why I shouldn't do that. Don't get me wrong, these are good, but they have a few caveats that cost them two stars, imho. They're quite light and so they burn quickly. That, coupled with the fact that they just don't feel that special. That is entirely subjective. While they smoke easy and seem to have good construction, I can't say that I'd pick up another box. For me, an alternative would be the Aging Room Quattro or one of its variants. YMMV.

A very, very good cigar! It lives up to its rating and then some. Full flavor with subtle, dark chocolate tone. I love this cigar along with a quality sipping rum like Mount Gay Black Bottle.

I tried this because of its 98 rating. It’s worth it. It’s smooth without being overpowering, and it finishes well. It costs a bit too much to be an everyday cigar, but then again, it’s a 98, so it’s really not an everyday cigar. Get a few. Put ‘em in your humidor for special occasions.

These are really nice. A full flavor, but more complex and subtle than bold I would say. Kind of a cross between an Aging Room Nicaragua and an Oliva Melanio V

The draw is smooth with a spicy aftertaste. Flavors are bold. Remind me of an old world Zinfandel. Maybe a bit of lingering tobacco flavor as well. The construction seems very tightly packed as with many rectangular shaped cigars. Makes for very full smoke on each puff. I can see why it’s rated as high as it is.

I was soooooo excited to try this cigar and took it on my Cancun vacation with a few CAO. Maybe I had a bad batch but a high 90 it wasn’t. A very fast burn and tasted like an average cigar. The burn was even and fast. Wasn’t happy with it at all ..
