Award-winning, mind-blowing amazing? Nah. But for the price, even grand-pappy would be proud. To be sure it was up to snuff, I performed several autopsies on my desk, along with puffing on a few while doing it. Here’s the consensus. Smooth, thick San Andres Maduro wrappers greet you from the outside. It’s a nice leaf that even has a little bit of shine. Good start. A gentle squeeze reveals a solid core (almost no soft-spots to be had), chock full of long-fillers from the Dominican – an ample mix of different leaves, too. A snip and a light reveals a good draw, which churns out billows of smoke. The profile is fairly tame, medium I’d say. I pick up a decent amount of spice, some oak, a dash of coffee, and a sweet hay note. Just enough kick to keep me interested. Not overly complex, but a decent show.
