Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon

The 95-rated Decade gets a brand new bag.

Rocky Patel Decade is easily one of the most prolific cigar releases of the last…err…decade. 95-rated, among Cigar Aficionado’s ‘Top 25’ cigars of the years, rated 90+ on over 10 occasions - Rocky Patel Decade’s accolades are seemingly endless. And still, even 6+ years after its release, it is still one of the hottest brands on the market. Because it’s damn good…and it’s about to get better. Enter Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon.

While working on new blends at the factory and taste-testing tobaccos, Rocky made a startling discovery. To taste the new crop of Cameroon wrapper they wanted to test it with a control they knew very well. So they passed the Cameroon wrapper overtop Decade’s filler and binder. Instantly, they knew they had something special. A whole new taste profile that might even trump the original. The use of an Authentic Cameroon wrapper leads to a smooth, complex, and very well-balanced profile that’s layered with sweet and smoky notes of wood, caramel, coffee, and roasted nuts. In a word, exceptional.

Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon received a well-deserved 90-rating noting: "Though first puffs of this dark pyramid are sweet with coconut and vanilla bean, the smoke picks up some savory elements of leather and a bit of earth."

Excellent RP cigar
I tried these after many years smoking Torano 1916' as my go to Cameroon and I still can't decide which I like better. Can't go wrong either way though. I would take both over a Cohiba.

Flavor is great but this cigar always makes me feel sick. Not sure if it's the tar levels or what. The oil/ tar literally oozes from the end the second half of the cigar.

Cameroon delicacy
Bought in a sampler and glad i did, probably the best Rocky Patel I've ever had.

The best RP I've had so far
This is for Cameroon fans, of which I am one. I would say an AF Don Carlos is my premier smoke. This, and to some extent the RP Vintage 2003, stand right along side that, and for noticeably less money. Medium, faint hints of pepper toward the end, excellent draw and burn, few defects, and a perfect (for me) long-toro vitola.

My top shelf
New favorite! From first draw down to the nub, a great, semi rich smoke! I don't buy many boxes, but I will get these by the box.

Great Cigar
Well constructed with a great taste. Have really gotten into the Nicaraguan fillers with a Cameroon wrapper.

Will become a staple.
This will more than likely become a staple in my humidor. I first had a robusto and may swap back and forth between it and a toro. The smoke had a good burn and even when sat down for a bit did not require re-lighting. I have both this and the regular decade. I prefer this one over it because the decade has a box press

Damn fine cigar
Very enjoyable cigar. I usually hold maduro wrappers in highest regard as far as favorites go, but the Cameroon was a pleasant experience. Great afternoon smoke with a nice iced coffee.

RP Decade Cameroon
I'm a cigar "green horn", been smoking cigars off and on for a couple years and just recently really starting to get into them. I got the RP Decade Cameroon as part of a CI sampler and I enjoyed each and every one of them very much! Not too strong for a rookie gar smoker, good quality construction = even burn, nice draw. Was nice and smokey with good hearty and smooth/creamy smoke and flavor from start to finish. I keep the bands from all the different cigars I like in a cigar box and the RP Cameroon's band is in there. I will definitely order some more of these soon. VikingFishMan

Cigar of the month
Normally I prefer a Mild or Mild-Medium cigar. Surprisingly, I found the Robusto smoke able. While it was a tad stronger than I prefer, it wasn't the worst cigar of its strength. There is little chance I will be ordering any more right now, but you never know what the future brings. Good even burn, just not my cup of tea.

Spicy stick
Great flavor, but still being a newbie to cigars I found it a little on the strong side. It was creamy yet spicy. Overall a great stick. Tremendous smoke production with great aromas. Draw was effortless.

Great smooth smoke
I enjoyed as did my friends I shared with.

Fantastic classic with a pleasant twist.
The Cameroon wrapper does not detract from the high quality taste of a RP Decade at all and gives it another great flavor. I love it and recommend it.

Poor Quality
2 of the first 5 cigars my friends and I smoked unraveled badly. That's maybe acceptable for bargain priced cigars, but not for an expensive smoke like this one.
Customer Testimonials
This cigar is excellent for all around everyday smoke. Gave some to friends, and even though they are not cigar smokers, they enjoyed these a great deal. Thank you.
This cigar starts off with a bang. Tons of red pepper and hints of maple syrup and then turns bland and flavorless. I was very excited to try this cigar because I'm a huge Rocky fan. In my opinion the Vintage Cameroon'03 is a better cigar.
Just fired up my first one of these bad boys. The excitement leading up to it was almost too much to bear. The lovechild of my two favorite cigars, could it really be true? Aesthetically it's a very luxurious looking cigar. The stick it rolled exceptionally well. Almost tighter than most Rocky's I've seen but it still maintains that perfect Rocky draw. The flavor is not quite as complex as I thought it would be. The initial taste is almost flavorless but after the smoke lingers on your tongue you can taste the cream and spice mixed in with some leather, nutmeg and maybe even cinnamon. Not as complex on the initial draw as I'd like. Especially for the price.
All I can say, is this is a good cigar and I would buy it again.
