The 95-rated Decade gets a brand new bag.Rocky Patel Decade is easily one of the most prolific cigar releases of the last…err…decade. 95-rated, among Cigar Aficionado’s ‘Top 25’ cigars of the years, rated 90+ on over 10 occasions - Rocky Patel Decade’s accolades are seemingly endless. And still, even 6+ years after its release, it is still one of the hottest brands on the market. Because it’s damn good…and it’s about to get better. Enter Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon. While working on new blends at the factory and taste-testing tobaccos, Rocky made a startling discovery. To taste the new crop of Cameroon wrapper they wanted to test it with a control they knew very well. So they passed the Cameroon wrapper overtop Decade’s filler and binder. Instantly, they knew they had something special. A whole new taste profile that might even trump the original. The use of an Authentic Cameroon wrapper leads to a smooth, complex, and very well-balanced profile that’s layered with sweet and smoky notes of wood, caramel, coffee, and roasted nuts. In a word, exceptional. Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon received a well-deserved 90-rating noting: "Though first puffs of this dark pyramid are sweet with coconut and vanilla bean, the smoke picks up some savory elements of leather and a bit of earth."
This cigar is excellent for all around everyday smoke. Gave some to friends, and even though they are not cigar smokers, they enjoyed these a great deal. Thank you.
This cigar starts off with a bang. Tons of red pepper and hints of maple syrup and then turns bland and flavorless. I was very excited to try this cigar because I'm a huge Rocky fan. In my opinion the Vintage Cameroon'03 is a better cigar.
Just fired up my first one of these bad boys. The excitement leading up to it was almost too much to bear. The lovechild of my two favorite cigars, could it really be true? Aesthetically it's a very luxurious looking cigar. The stick it rolled exceptionally well. Almost tighter than most Rocky's I've seen but it still maintains that perfect Rocky draw. The flavor is not quite as complex as I thought it would be. The initial taste is almost flavorless but after the smoke lingers on your tongue you can taste the cream and spice mixed in with some leather, nutmeg and maybe even cinnamon. Not as complex on the initial draw as I'd like. Especially for the price.
All I can say, is this is a good cigar and I would buy it again.
