“Can't go wrong with these. I had one from a sampler that i smoked with friends at the beach, not one person found them to be displeasing. Great for any time of the day.”
“A Gurkha Park Avenue and a good cup of coffee are my idea of a great way to start the day. This is one of my go to morning cigars. Consistent from start to finish with a fine burn, great draw and creamy flavor. Mild, but has enough complexity for a morning cigar and not a total wussy in the spice department.”
“Gurka Park Avenue is a very nice, if not one dimensional, early morning smoke. Loads of peanut/cashew flavors with just a touch of spice. The burn was near perfection. Draw was a little tighter than I like but still very good. Though the lack of complexity got a little boring near the end, this may become my mild/medium smoke of choice, especially considering the great price.”
“I got a few boxes of these (Gurkha's Park Avenue) and did a split between Terry B, Steve-O the Godfather and myself. All 3 of us loved them. The draw is very easy and smooth. Flavor is excellent. Goes well with beer and food. One week end I brought a hand full of these in to work for a function and a couple of the guys loved them enough that they went on the internet and ordered a box each on the spot. Friends who come over to hang in the oasis & the man cave love them too. So far every one who has tried one is instantly hooked.”
“I tried my first "Gurkha Park Avenue", yesterday at a B.B.Q. Normally, I prefer the fuller bodied cigars, however I have been interested in something, a bit milder, for late nights or early mornings. I've tried about 5 or 6 different brands over the last 6 months. Finally, one that works for me. Definitely, on the right side of medium bodied. Leather, some varying amounts of black pepper, a subtle sweetness that I can't pin down and some nuttiness. Not overly complex but this beauty goes through some very tasty nuances. Of course, the wrapper brings it home with copious amounts of cream and dare I say a faint touch of vanilla. All in all, this is one complete cigar. 60% of the cigars, in my El Diablo humi, are Gurkha's and now I have found my mellow stick, without compromising the flavor. Thanks C.I., for your prices.... I can still smoke quality cigars.”
“I was given one of these out on the golf course and was impressed so much to save the label (sometimes my game causes me to imbibe and forget things). I told another buddy about it and lo and behold, the next day he actually received the CI mag with the same cigars on the cover! Needless to say, I promptly ordered a box and hev been enjoying them ever since. They are a great smoke, nice even draw and produces a good amount of smoke. At the CI price now offered, I'm tempted to order a few more boxes to use as an exceptional everyday stick.”
“Second sampling of this cigar. My previous experience was just over a year ago and at that time I thought it was very good. At this point my opinion has only improved and the reason is simple at less than $3.00 it is an unbeatable smoke. If you are a fan of mild to mild/medium cigars look no further. The Park Avenue is OUTSTANDING!!!”
“SGT. Rock Say's, ...an affordable Gurkha for enlisted mens pay. This baby is great for after training on the tank range or the manuever box, smooth and nice draw with no bite helps bring you down to earth and still remain manly and ready for your next adventure.”
“I've smoked boxes and boxes and boxes of these cigars . Yum”
“.....got a box of these last week and smoked a couple with my boss. I agree with previous reviewer, for the money this a great cigar, full of character and poise. Then my boss hands me a Gurkha Crest.....I was completely swept off my feet, never thought a cigar could take me to heaven and back. But my budget dictates the Park Avenue and I will rotate these in with my usual Vegas smokes. This cigar (Park Ave) is well worth the money.....”
“Received this gem as part of a sampler pack. Very pleasant mild smoke with a good draw and a long burn. Will now become a part of every order I make through CI.”
“JUST TAKING A BREAK FROM MY FULL BODY NICARAGUANS SO I 0RDERED A COUPLE BOXES OF CONNECTICUTS......ONE WAS A BOX OF GURKA PARK AVENUES TORPEDOS......DIDN'T KNOW HOW GOOD THEY'D BE DUE TO THE LOW PRICE BUT WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SUPRISED.....FIRST FEW PUFFS WERE PEPPERY THEN QUICKLY TURNED CREAMY...HALFWAY THRU ITGOT A LITTLE NUTTY TASTE STAYING CREAMY AND SMOOTH.....THIS IS A FINE SMOKE BY ANY STANDARDS.....EXCELLENT DRAW, EFFORTLESS IN FACT.....NICE EVEN BURN....MILD BUT NOT TOO MILD.....DEFINATELY TASTY AND QUITE NUBBABLE....I WILL DEFINATELY ORDER ANOTHER BOX AND HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS CIGAR TO ANYONE WHO LIKES A MILD BUT COMPLEX
SMOKE. DEFINATELY A KEEPER ESPECIALLY FOR THE MONEY THEY ARE ASKING.”
“I must say I was VERY surprised with the Park Avenue. I got in a sample pack. I like to try sample packs from time to time to try different brands without having to buy a box and find out they are junk! This brand is a "top shelf" smoke! I have bought cigars locally at cigar shops for over $10 that aren't as good as this one is. It's medium bodied with a peppery vanilla cream flavor from start to finish. Kinda reminds me of the forbidden fruit if ya get my drift! I will buy a box of these my next purchase.”
“Now I know what all the fuss is about the Gurkha brand. This is one of the smoothest cigars I have ever tried. (Park Avenue) Easy draw, clouds of smooth smoke, even burn, and never got hot until there was nothing left to hold onto. I know you're supposed to rest your new babies when you first get them, but I just had to try one right out of the box. Gonna be hard to leave the rest alone for too long. I hope the the price stays low so they can be a regular smoke of mine.”
“OK, This is one of those consistent smokes that just makes you happy.Park Avenue by Gurkha If you are looking for a "mild" cigar for that 6:30 am tee time, first cup o joe or an anytime smoke this is the one. Flavors out creamy and smooth not grassy like so many Connecticut shades can very very consistent throughout the smoke a worthy cigar to have in the ol humi. Also must say if you have a newbie smoker or are one you can't go wrong here. Thanks Ghurka!
“Gurkha cigars have always been an enigma for me, the more expensive, the less i have liked them, It could be because I don't usually have the patience to let them rest a while, but when I smoked the Park Avenue, and the Cuban Legacy for that matter, right of the truck, I was all in on these, The park avenue was a Mega Surprise, It is a rare occasion indeed, when I Like a Connecticut wrapped cigar, Only 2 I have ever really liked, 5 Vegas Gold the other, Those Vegas Gold Torpedo's are so smooth, they do melt in your mouth, But this Park Avenue has a complexity I couldn't believe, I Got it from the Mctwist sampler, It's mild, but real close to medium, like the Vegas Gold, I love it.”
“this is the best smoke i have found (Gurkha's Park Avenue).it has a great even burn right down to the nub .if you dont like this smoke, oh well.”
“Just orderd my first box not ten minutes ago. Anticipating the arrival in two or three days. Chris the phone rep was a gem. Typical of CI's bar-none customer serice. Read all the fan mail about this blend of Ghurka's and seems a made a good choice.”
“They have arrived! Very nice indeed. Well constructed. Slow burn, nice flavor with hints of chocolate and pepper at the mid way point. Nice heavy white smoke up front. Earthy start.Definatley will buy a box again. No complaints.”
“I ordered a box of these for a wedding just to have a nice inexpensive box to place by the open bar. The box looks extremely high class and the cigars themselves looked great to all of us novices. These cigars made for a really fun and inexpensive addition to the party. I smoke maybe a cigar a month tops but I thought it was a great cigar for the occasion and so did everyone else.”
“This is awesome for the price.. Newer palette but have been exploring quite readily. burns nice, sweet and spicy,- just right in balance for me, Good with a cup of coffee or a late night keger, this cigar hit the spot and I will enjoy so many more willingly.”
“I was very impressed with this cigar, the price is a steal because you would never think it would be priced as low as they are had someone given you one to try. And I'm not talking about the label, but the way it feels, tastes, and burns. I usually lean towards medium-full strength, but I really appreciated the full flavor in the park avenue torpedo. It's def not complex, but it hit a consistent soft and round arrangement of floral tea, sandal wood, and Indian herbs and spices, it's very uncharacteristic of most connecticut wrappers. To me I enjoyed this a lot more than mild cigars like Avo, Davidoff, and even Rocky Connecticut. The only stick it can't stand up to is the Nub Conn 460.”
“Very good cigar leaning more on the medium side of mild. Let em rest for 60 days as they are bit harsh from the get go, and you won’t be disappointed.”
“Gotta tell ya, there are good cigars and great cigars, and this cigar ain't neither of those! Bland, one-note cigars, with a "hot" taste, and no depth. Not bad as a golf/lawn mowing/drunk-at-the-bar cigar, but not a fine smoke.”
“As a maduro man my reviews of the lighter cigars are slightly skewed. Another low end ghurka id have to skip on ever ordering again. Too mild to the point of being boring. Wasnt even sure i was smoking a cigar half the time. For a mild cigar ill stick with the 1876s when im in the mood. The only thing ill give these is you can smoke them out the box where the 1876s are very bitter and need a couple months in the humidor but after that have better flavor then these. If you dont want to go the cheapy route then the 5 Vegas Gold are a much better smoke then the Park Avenue.”
“nice cigar for the money (but every band i peal off wrapper tears the wrapper)”
“Smooth and creamy with hints of pepper. Nice even draw and easy on the pocket book. Won't send your head into a spiral on an empty gas tank. If Sgt. Rock likes this cigar it has to be great! Curious if Sgt. Fury like this stick too. Stan Lee? You out there?”
“I avoided Connecticut's Like the plague, tried this after it sat in the humidor for about 4-5 months..Loved it. Park Avenue 44 Churchill's changed the way I felt about Connecticut wrapped cigars, now I am more open minded. The Cigar had a great buttered bread flavors through French and Retro-hailing. Construction was great, burn was fine but not perfect, no need for touch ups...just wasn't razor sharp which wasn't a problem anyway. Really enjoyed this cigar, if you're like me and usually stick to Maduros or strong Ligeros, go ahead and give this a shot....may just be a table turner. Best Gurkha I've ever had.”
“Off the truck, right out of the box, this stick was fabulous right down to the nub!!! Smooth, creamy, touches of leather and earth.... I can only imagine how great it'll become after a few weeks in the Humi.....if they make it a few weeks....Get 'em, Smoke 'em, and get some more....”
“Good cigar for the price. Well constructed, mild flavor, good everyday smoke.”
“Gotta tell ya, I was a little apprehensive in ordering these cigars, but boy am I glad I did! The peppery start, the great finish! Highly recommended by me, damn well worth the money!”
“Not a big fan.
Well-built cigars, but extremely mild. Great if you're beginning to smoke, especially if you don't know your boundaries for light/medium/mild bodied cigars.
When I say well-built, I mean that they burn evenly. Wrapper came in good shape, no flaking. Ashes a good bit, no tubing or anything annoying like that.
Still, I got this as a sampler and it's one of the last cigars left. I can say now that I've smoked a bit, I prefer a heavier taste and this just doesn't cut it. If I ever get some in a sampler again, I'll save them for my girlfriend or friends that don't want a more taxing cigar, as the flavor is barely noticeable to me.
If you don't want something that knocks you off your feet though, this may be a good fit for you. This construction at this price seems to be a rare find, Gurkha fan or not.”
“Just ordered myself a box... can't wait to give'm a try”
“I got one of these in a freebee offer and I was really surprised. It was real mild but full of flavor. There was a hit of nutmeg with a cinnamon finish. I will hold a place in my large humi for a box of these.”
“I put a box of these in the humi and couldn't resist my curiosity after four weeks and caved. So far I've smoked three sticks and was pleasantly surprised. Gurkha has done it again. These cigars are mild, smooth, and creamy, but have one added pleasure. After the first inch a flavor and aroma kicks in that is still mild and delightfully spicy, but like no other spice I've ever encountered. It is like a fine dessert that lasts for the rest of the cigar. The cigar's wrapper is a little veiny with one or two soft spots, but not a problem. The burn was good, the draw was perfect, the ash was about an inch or so, and lots of thick creamy smoke. This cigar is a mild-medium, cool, pleasurable smoke down to the nub.”
“I've been off the milds for a few months, but enjoyed one of these this morning. I had forgotten just how good they were. Burn was absolutely razor sharp, ashed only twice, smoked it down to about an inch and a half. Very smooth, mild, and just tasty enough for a morning smoke. Were I to purchase ANY mild cigars, it would be these. Excellent deal.”
“I was very pleasantly surprised by this cigar. Some inexpensive Connecticut wrapper cigars don't have a lot of flavor. The price on this one is very low and that can mean hit or miss. Further, I have found Ghurka itself to be very hit or miss (they make some of my favorite cigars, and some that I outright hate), and this is one of their budget brands. I loved this cigar.
I smoke everything from good mild-to-medium bodied cigars (usually, I don't like cheaper mild cigars though) through big experience, full bodied cigars. In the mild to medium range, Ashton is my all time favorite. However, they can get expensive on a teacher's salary. So, I have been on the lookout for some less expensive mild-to-medium and medium bodied cigars that are at least reminiscent of Ashton. I've found a lot of less expensive medium and full bodied cigars I like (though they are nothing like an Ashton), but mild-to-medium just hasn't worked out without spending a few bucks.
Well, this is what I've been looking for. While on the mild side of mild to medium bodied, it doesn't lack for flavor. I get a lot of the creamy, mellow, feel and flavor that I like out of a good mild-to-medium Connecticut wrapper cigar. Construction was top notch. Burn was very consistent. This is going to be one of the cigars that are on permanent rotation in my humidor.”
“Great Cigar! Enjoy!”
“Just tried my first Park Avenue Churchill and found it to be a great stick. Mild and creamy throughout the smoke, even as it got down to the nub. Many cigars start out smooth but tend to get harsh and abrasive to the taste buds (for me) as I near the nub. This smoke was fantastic all the way through. I got this one in a sampler and was shocked when I found the price to be $3 a stick. I will definitely be getting more of these in the future.”
“Very well balance an mild. Love the aroma and well made. It's a every day smoke for sure plus the price on these are great for your pocket book. I'm not a mild man but this will do. Perfect way too start my day, fulfill my needs just before I start working. I'll order more when I'm running low. Thanks CI”
“Nice mellow morning cigar. Would be real nice for about two bucks a stick instead of three.”
“Great draw and burn straight out of the box. Really smooth cigar down to the end. Will be making this cigar a regular in my humidors.
“This cigar lights up light and airy, but somehow satisfying for the full bodied smoker like myself. Don't play with the bands for they will peel the delicate wrapper. Nuts and cedar play out with an excellent draw. It will all catch up to you as it all intensifies with spice and pepper right to the nub. A true masterpiece.”
“I ordered a box because I couldn't say no to the price. They arrived today and I braved the 30 degree cold and wind to try one out and it was fantastic! The construction is flawless and the burn was nice and even (even with me smoking a bit faster than I had wanted to due to the weather). The flavor is well balanced. Earthy notes of leather stay constant throughout. There is a mild touch of pepper at the beginning which mellows into a nutty flavor half way through. This is an excellent cigar at a price that should not be missed.”
“Nice cigar. Mild, good burn, lots of creamy taste and smoke. Has more tastes than many other mild cigars all the way to the nub. Even full flavored smokers would enjoy once in a while. Didn't have the label sticking problem as mentioned in a earlier post. "An all day stick"”
“Can't beat the price on these. Great draw, smoke output, very even burn, creamy yet still a smoke you could have any time of the day.”
“Nicely wrapped n capped, burns straight, ash is soft but almost holds an inch, bland for the first half, very mild with a decent draw, dry smoke with light tobacco taste, second half picked up a dry creaminess, pretty much ends there. Not a regular for rotation.”
“These guys are a real treat. When you're not in the mood for a heavy smoke, this is a great stick. Nice mild flavors that finishes with some spice.”
“Great cigar with a very even burn. Gurkha's have been one of my favorite cigars and these hold true to the Gurkha reputation. If you are looking for a nice cigar to smoke in the Man Cave while simply watching TV this is the cigar for you.”
“Excellent Cigar! Thick white smoke with mildness. Easy draw and even burn. Perfect with coffee or just taking it easy on the porch with a beer. Must Try!”
