“Consistent quality is very important to me in cigars. I have found Oliva to be relentlessly reliable in the consistent quality of all the lines that bear their name. The “V” stands out even from that standard. It is one of a handful of uniquely exquisite cigars available to the average aficionado today. The praise it gathers is not hype and the experience is well worth the price of admission. One tip, use your nose to experience all the “V” has to offer and give it your undivided attention.”
“Great cigar the Oliva series V !! I really like the belicosos with deep reddish wrappers......... Mmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmm good!!! Very tasty cigar with a great long finish.”
“One of the best cigars I've ever had (torpedo). (Oliva Serie V) The robustos have a bit more pepper in the after-taste, but those topedoes....wow! Very, very smooth, but complexed at the same time. A real work of art! Glad I have a box to go...”
“If you like full bodied cigars, there are 2 smokes you must try. (The Oliva V, and San Cristobal). Let the Oliva rest a few months for best results though.”
“1st off this is my initial posting. Started seriously smoking in 1995. Goal was to try 100 different cigars. Past that milestone years ago. With all the fanfare for these cigs I was hesitant to post anything negative. Love well aged Maduro's (Padron, Fuente Hem Mad & Anejo, 601's, Gurkhas, Perdomo ESV) to name a few. Also, given a choice I tend to fall back to Nicaraguan's as a preference. Now the cigar. It has to be one of the worst cigs I have ever smoked. Tried the Special V (twice - different boxes) and the Regular Torpedo (3 - different stores) and ALL tasted like burnt wood and burnt toast with an awful stale cedar after taste. Hope everyone keeps smoking these and leaves the Hemingway and Padron maduro's for me! FYI...I do like the Oliva O Mad....good smoke for $$$”
“I'll make this simple: the Olivia Serie 'V' is the best cigar out there. Period.”
“This is the best cigar that I have every smoked hands down. (Oliva Serie 'V') I found a couple figurado's and have had a toro they can't be beat. If I could just find a box it would make the year. They can only get better with a stay in the hummi.”
“What a phenomenal cigar (Oliva Serie 'B')! The burn was absolutely perfect and the flavor was beyond what I have come to expect from premium cigars (Cohiba, Punch, Gurkha and Graycliff are my usual favorites). This is now my favorite cigar and will order more when the hooplah goes down.”
“Since my first smoke of a "V" I have been a fan. It as at the point that I have not found a better cigar. If photos were allowed I would show my growing collection of "V" boxes. A bit depressing when I think of the cost, but then I remember the pleasure it has given me.”
“Fabulous smoke. Top three regardless of the price.”
“Just a remarkable stick, in every way. Will NEVER be without 2 boxes on hand...one to age, and one with 6-12 months age for smoking now. Amazing construction, burn, consistency, taste. Chocolatey, with espresso and rich tobacco, and silky smooth. BTW...you need to try each size in the line, because you'll get a unique experience with each. The double robusto has become my fav. Along with Diesel Unlimiteds and Padron Maduros, & Joya De Nicaragua Dark Corojo this stick sits at the top of my list.”
“This cigar makes me sad (Oliva Serie 'V') to be a poor guy. I tend to shop in the bargain basement for cigars, and while there are no doubt some excellent smokes for cheap, this cigar is unbelievable. Clouds of smoke, wonderful flavor. It almost made me cry. If you can afford to buy, please buy and smoke one for me.”
“Let me start of with a hearty "Hail to the Victors Valiant" to writer hailing form my home town in old Ann Arbor, MI. (Oliva Serie 'V') However, I have been putting off my trying more of these newer offerings from Oliva factory. I tried the Churchill but now are as we speak going to go pick up a torpedo. I have to admit... not impressed thus far. It tasted thin and bouquet was a bit on the wispy side. I see everybody and their mother puffing on one... heck a just delivered newborn burning one back with pops outside the delivery - I mean everybody! So in the spirit of being objective... we shall try one more before I render my final judgment on the Oliva V series.
“Ok, I have fulfilled my word and the subject here is the Series V torpedo.(Oliva Serie 'V') I have to say this one was a bit better of a smoke that the first one I tried. And I understand this will happen from time to time - Heck, that's what happened when I tried the Saint Luis Rey Series G [read my review there] but it grew on me and had made my cabinet.
This stick did have a more distinctive bouquet than the last and the weather was more favorable this time through for a more objective review. A nice medium bodied smoke, with a good consistent draw throughout guaranteeing the smoker of this stick a good experience from crown to butt. Kinda reminded me of a Bolivar a bit...
My rate, this stick: 86”
“What can I say about this cigar (Oliva Serie 'V') that has not already been said? I've had the double robusto, the torpedo and the belicoso and they're all damn good. However, the torpedo is my favorite. Its extra length makes it creamier and more balanced in my opinion. You can't go wrong with this line. I'd be happy to smoke this line exclusively for the rest of my life.”
“Attended the Oliva Serie V event, and the Cigar is Dynomite.... The best cigar I have had at any price point. It is my favorite. Compare to the price of some other cigars, this one can not be beat at any price. It is a great full bodied, heady cigar that is super smooth. Can not say enough about it. You will not be sorry you tried this one. It will haunt you till you give in and buy a box or two.”
“Without going in to the details, I'm smoking the Oliva V Torpedo. I've been smoking cigars for 34 years, and this is the best cigar I've ever smoked. The other Oliva V's are exquisite, but this torpedo is sheer nirvana.”
“After smoking about 4 of these babies over the past couple of months, (Oliva Serie 'V') I think I've found my Fav for a very good while. I just received a box today. I'll try to let them sit for a week in the humi before I indulge...wish me luck. Man, these are some great smokie treats!”
“I've had two Oliva Series V Double Toro's. I have two more sitting in my humidor. Both that I've smoked have been been absolutely terrific. They've both been spicy, complex, full bodied and strong--I don't know if it's the fact that I'm smoking a 6x60 or if it's the cigar, but these leave me goofy. There's no other word to describe it. A great smoke, and a strong smoke. Worth the money, might be the best cigar I've ever had.”
“Lancero cigars always seem to be lacking in a non-manly sort of way. If you're thinking is similar, then try an Oliva V lancero and gain a whole new perspective on this cigar size. Not only is it my favorite lancero, it's also one my favorite cigars period!”
“Best cigar on the market...period. Being a fan of Oliva, I had smoked several of their lines, but my mainstay was Partagas Black and anything Perdomo makes. Mind you I still love the mainstays, but this stick is at the top of the heap. Great character, even burn, clouds of smoke, exceptional taste...the "V" is the crown jewel of cigars...do the double toro, over and over again!!”
“The Oliva V series finds itself to be one of mywifes favorite smokes besides our regular in stock 5 vegas Gold and Gurkha or the Indian tobac. This is truly in both of our opions my wifes and mine a 96 rated cigar. Top of the line look, feel smoke and taste. Try one you be in searhc of as mny as you can stock afford and find in these V series!Way to go Ci for getting a hold of these beauties and keeping them in stock!!”
“WOW, what an incredible cigar. This one ranks with the JdN Antano 1970 for fullness and overall smoking Nirvana. This cigar is an absolute must for those who like full bodied smokes. I don't see how a cigar maker could improve on this one. Definitely a top 10 cigar”
“Every day when I get up in the morning I think about what cigar I want to smoke and (Oliva Serie 'V') is always the first cigar I think of. I usually go with another cigar because it is so hard to get my hands on a box of series V Torpedos so I want to save them for special occations. When I finally get to light up a stick I always regret my choice because every cigar ever made just doesn't compare to the series V torpedo. I have a stacked humidor with cubans and a very good and expensive selection but I dream of my series V every night... If you haven't tried it before I feel sorry for you.”
“Very good cigar, worth the price of admission. I definitely got the hints of coffee and chocolate during the mid-point of the cigar. Overall, just a very flavorful cigar that can sneak up on you with its power. A few I've smoked have had some wrapper splitting issues, but it never impacted the burn.”
“I was recently given 3 of the Oliva Series-V while away on business. After smoking the first one, I had a perfect name for it. The "Cuban Killer." The Complexity of the taste, the awesome aroma, and the near perfect construction, is definately going to bring havoc to the Cuban cigar industry. A true Knock-Out! Buy them while you can.”
“This is what every full bodied cigar should aspire to be more like. Amazing construction and rich, deep, spicy flavors.”
“NEW FAVORITE!!! very good cigar. perfect burn, perfect taste.”
“ATTENTION: To all fan mail readers. You must read and believe. If oliva had created only one cigar,The V alone would have made them filthy rich. The same goes, if you would have smoked only one cigar in your life time, you would have to choose the oliva V. From the first look at this amazing cigar, anticapation sets in.Even the smell before lighting it, you know youre in for something special. Truly the perfect example of the perfect cigar. The draw the smoothness, the taste, burn, and the finish, it's all there. Superb Quality from start to finish. To date the best cadillac of a cigar I have ever smoked. No doubt, you will agree.”
“First off let me say that i am fairly new to smoking cigars(two years)so i try alot of smokes.Outside of almost anything by Gurhka, this is really an awesome cigar. Great burn, great look, and an even better taste.”
“I bought a couple of these from a smoke shop for nine bucks a stick. Best eighteen bucks I ever spent. If I could afford the price I would smoke these regularly. I can't, so I cry myself to sleep every night and dream of them.”
“Had my 1st V Serie about 2 years ago & thought it was pretty good. Just had another one at a cigar event at a local B&M & man, what a difference time makes. I forgot how great this cigar was, fantastic flavor, even burn & great amount of smoke. I ended up walking out of the event with a box! A great full flavored smoke, if haven't tried one yet, do yourself a favor & try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.”
“This is a good one. All of the Olivas/Nubs share a distinct flavor that I can't put my finger on, but this one also has it. I am in love with this particular flavor that I wish I could describe, but it is even more evident in this cigar, which also burns evenly and is well constructed.”
“Hello C.I.& fellow cigar family,I was just recently blown away by the Padron 4000 mad. and the Gurkha regent church.-both (imo)solid 93-94.Now this- Oliva serie V double toro what an experience!(let the angels sing!!)This was a solid 2,that's right,2 hours of pure bliss the ratings indicate a 94 in Cigar Aficionado but in my humble world a definite 96-98.Thank you C.I.,you make it possible for a lot of us to experience the best in the world at affordable prices and also 1st class customer service that treats you like family.Regards-RK”
“Great Cigar! You will love these from start to finish. Long slow burn great taste. Sit back and enjoy. V is for a victory cigar.”
“Great smoke, just purchased my first box and already had two sticks in the last two days. Starts off smooth and only gets better. I pass them out to friends so they too can share in the goodness of this cigar. Ive tried other O's and they were all good, but this is by far my favorite.”
“Very nice cigar. Good draw and nice complex taste, but to compare this to the other TOP 25 Finest in Cigar Journal I would be hard pressed to place this above the Partagas Series D No.5 or Cohiba El which are just phenomenal cigars.”
“Olive Serie "V" (Belicoso)
Sweetness and wood on the nose from first sniff. These cigars burn impossibly even every single time. Toast and wood are on the palate from the first creamy puff. The cigar delivers a nice and tight, even draw and a phenomenally slow burn. Just a touch of spice compliments the toast and wood as you progress through the cigar. This cigar is perhaps the epitome of balance. Toward the nub, expect more of the same aforementioned balance with just a little amplification. Lip smackin' good!”
“Without a doubt this is one of the best smokes on the market today. It deserve's all the good things that have been said about it. It is probably my "3rd" favorite of all smokes out there.
I would give it a solid 93.”
“I have to say....I am kinda disappointed in this. I absolutely loooove oliva. But this cigar is just...eh. I mean the construction, draw, burn and aroma are great. It's just the flavor isn't as good, IMO, as an Oliva O, or a NUB Habano. I mean, I wouldn't turn down another chance to smoke one, but I don't think I'd pay $6-8 bucks for a torpedo again. But then, reviews are subjective, as one man's champagne is another man's hogswill, lol.”
“Ok...as a revision to my previous post.... after smoking the cigar down past the 2/3 mark, I have to say... the flavor is much more pronounced and consistent with the quality that I have come to expect from Oliva cigars. I wasn't that impressed by the first third, but after that.... extremely tasty. oh...and smoke more than an inch before reviewing, lol”
“I'm really disappointed with my 5 pack order of these, due to the first one having no draw. In addition, when I got an inch down the other side of the cigar open with a burn coming out of the cigar an inch below the other side of the cigar. Since these weren't cheap, CI was good enough to let me return the other 4. This was a cigar I really wanted to try, but had a bad luck of the draw on the 5 pack I received. It should be noted, that the 5 pack La aurora 107, San Cristobal, and the Griffins that came with the same order that the Oliva Serie V came in. They were some of the best cigars I have ever smoked, and will become a box purchase in the future.”
“Believe all of the reviews. It's that good. One of the best on the market. This is the only non-Pepin cigar I really go crazy for. The tobacco is very well aged, no bite and no sick feeling from to much nicotine. The perfect cigar.”
“The Oliva Serie V is just simply amazing. Construction, Burn, Draw, Flavor and anything else that you want to add. I love it! Bought another 2010 Sampler and still don't feel like I have enough left!”
“This is one of my favorite cigars for sure.. in fact I bought one and stuck it in my humi for 6 months so that I could smoke it on my 21st birthday, it was the best decision I have ever made. I loved the Oliva V before but after I had let it take a nice cedar nap for 6 months it was one of the best cigars I have ever had in my life, easily in my top 3. As a poor college kid its hard for me to buy an entire box so I just buy what I can when I can.. but I would definitely refer this cigar to anyone who has been smoking for at least 6-12 months and has built up their palette a bit. I myself have been smoking cigars on occasion since I turned 18, I didn't realllllly start noticing things until about a year ago when I started herfing frequently with my girlfriends dad. Anyways, I strongly recommend trying this cigar, and if you dont like it at first then maybe its not for you but I suggest maybe buying another, letting it cure for a while and then trying it again on a rainy day.”
“Dollar for Dollar the best smoke period. Let them sit, and you will have an oily, butter smooth powerhouse! This stick even rivals the king of non-cuban's the Padron 1926 #9 (IMHO)! Oh and one more thing the construction almost perfect, I have smoked about 50 of these beauties and had 2 tight draws - burn ash wrapper always perfect - enjoy”
“Excellent cigar, enjoy!”
“I tried this in a lancero with my husband and was absolutely blown away by the complexity. The brilliance in the Oliva Serie V is that it starts out incredibly mild almost to the point where I wanted to put it down for its apparent weakness and about a third of the way through is when it takes a 180 degree turn and explodes with rich, flavor reminiscent of pepper then shifts flavors again towards the nub. This is a beautiful smoke and deserves to be doted on. I wouldn't recommend this to casual smokers or newbies but for those looking for more than just a "good" consistent cigar, this is it.”
“I have tried several of the Oliva "V"s on different occasions from several retail outlets. This is one that I keep getting pushed toward by all the positive reviews and high ratings, but in my honest opinion they just are not that good. I would take at least a dozen different sticks I have tried in the price point over these cigars.”
“A Medium To Full Bodied Creamy Chocolate Bomb!!!!!! If This Cigar Is Not In Your Humidor, It's Definitely Your Loss.”
“By far the best year for the Special Oliva Serie V Maduro. This 2012 cigar will get high praise for sure. I really only smoke Padron and will most certainly be getting another box of these before they can't be found.”
“The double robuto is my every day smoke. Excellent construction, firm ash, consistant draw with an attractive wrapper.
This is a full cigar and not a good choice for first time cigar smoker.
“Absolutely one of THE BEST cigars I've had. Rich in flavor and just the right amount of body with a great draw. Excellent all the way to the nub, great on the palate. 10/10. My FAVORITE brand hands down.”
“The full-bodied cigar by which all others are judged. Gorgeously made, consistent, spicy, hearty, good... These might seem expensive until you figure out that they sell for about half of comparable quality from other companies.”
“I smoke med/full and full bodied cigars almost exclusively. My humidor is packed with top shelf smokes. Ashton VSG, ESG, Gurkha Centurians, Rocky Patel Vintage, Padron, Perdomo 20th Anniversary and a host of others. But when I want to treat myself to a really enjoyable stick, I dig out one from the Oliva family and the Serie V is on the top of the list as one of my all time favorites.”
“Well.... I have to say my mind is slowly being changed on the Oliva series. I tried the 'O' and not impressed, the G was better, but the V was by far the best. Just got done with the double robusto and I have to agree with others, it wasn't long enough. Will be trying more of the V and will have to get one a little longer so I can enjoy more of the earthy taste and smooth pepper finish”
“This is one fine cigar. The construction and burn, perfect.
Creamy flavors shifting throughout the burn. Nub this
one guy's (and gals) what a treat.”
“Absolutely delicious! Coffee, chocolate all the way through. Great smoke output; perfect draw. If kept and smoked properly, can go all the way to the nub.”
“Absolutely fantastic cigar. I purchased the sampler and smoked the small diamande (6x46). It lasted 90 minutes. Razor sharp burn, and excellent flavors and smoke output from start to finish. This is a cigar that you must try.”
“I have tried many brands but I always go back to the Oliva V. Sometimes they are in low supply. I do not buy by the box because I only smoke occasionally. But when I do (about 3xs a week) I want to enjoy the experience. The Oliva gives me that.”
“I had to have some of these just because they looked so tasty. I was not disappointed. Fabulous in every aspect. Great feel, well made, nice even cool burn. Superb flavor from beginning to end. I never lost interest in the great change of taste I found through out. I will always keep a couple in my humi next to my other high end collection. This kind of cigar is what makes it all worth while.”
“I have a tendency to randomly pick a cigar out the store without regard to name, size, and reviews. Such was the case when I tried the Oliva V Serie No. 4. The wrapper was beautiful and I just had to try it. I got notes of wood, espresso, nuts (I kept saying hazelnut but that's not exact), and dark chocolate. The notes came and went. The only time I got a spicy kick was on exhale through my nose(a kick in the head as it was smoking medium til then!) Even burn and a long enough finish not to become annoying. Will definitely be trying in different sizes and picking up more No. 4s along the way! Highly recommend.”
“I have now tried the Belicoso. Notes of espresso, dark chocolate, nuts, leather, and of course pepper! I love the complexity of the Oliva V. Unfortunately, the Belicoso burned unevenly and was not as spicy as the No. 4. Will review other sizes as I try them, but of the two the No. 4 is still better (even more so when you let them sit in humidor for a month or longer as has been the case so far). Still highly recommend.”
“Incredible cigar. By far one of my favorites. Construction is top notch. When you hold this cigar you feel the quality and craftsmanship. Oliva is a great cigar company and in my opinion one of the best. They put out great cigars and this one doesn't disappoint. A little pricey but worth the money. Strength wasn't full to me but full of flavor and body. Good smoke.”
“An absolute amazing cigar worth all the accolades! The construction is flawless. Put your nose to the cigar before lighting and discover rich deep notes of cocoa. This cigar has great transitions. It starts with strong pepper notes but then changes to almost dessert like with dark chocolate and coffee notes. The finish is complex and long but not overpowering. It’s one of my favorite sticks. They’re kinda pricey so buy them when they go on sale!”
“Thanks to all the reviews I had to try the Oliva Serie V, just to find out for myself on how they would smoke. Since the Torpedo seemed to be the most talked about size that is the one I went with. This cigar would be compared to the many top shelf brands that I have tried, so this wouldn't be an easy task for the Oliva. After first putting fire to the foot, I was confronted with full tobacco flavors that hit me slightly in the stomach. Even Diesel, San Cristobal, and Dop Peppin Garcia doesn't do this to me. In could have been due to not have eaten for awhile, prior to smoking the cigar. That being said, within two inches down this cigar took on a full body flavor that came across as smooth as silk. Because of the nice even burn, good construction, plenty of smoke, and great flavors that I will allow others to describe. This will be a new cigar added to my rotation, and I strongly suggest all true lovers of cigars full of tobacco flavor try a few of these.
Thanks to all of those who wrote reviews on this brand, your the reason I tried it.”
“I usually smoke the serie g but got one the V's in a sampler. Great smoke. For a full flavor though i can honestly say not better than the g that is not a full. Price is not much but a little more. I still prefer the serie g. I do like these and would smoke again if the price is right. Save your self a dollar and go G.”
“Here is another great smoke that I didn't care for initially. Oliva needs serious rest time and is definitely worth the money afterward. Construction is flawless with tight ash, sharp burn, great flavor and no draw issues.”
“Not much else to say...one of the better blends out there right now. A fair price, tons of flavor, but not over the top what more could you ask for? Well the one thing I would ask for is something in a smaller ring be throw into the line up...double corona 6x46 would be nice.”
“I first smoked the Serie V about 4 and a half years ago (from today: 10/2014). Absolutely one of the best smokes I've ever had, hands down. These could've been $12 cigars (for a Double Robust, my favorite regular size from them... other than the Lancero and the old No. 4's) and I still would've thought the same thing about them.
Granted, up until about 2 years ago, they were phenominal and were really rockin in the flavor department and had the full body to match. Then I think their crop started to change. From then on and til today, they are still great smokes. But they cannot compare to what they used to be. I don't generally agree or like opinions from Cigar Aficionado, but look up their top 25 cigars of the year for 2012 and read their review for the Serie V. I think they nailed it right on the head as the cigar used to have great coffee and cocoa notes while today they smoke more earthy, heavier, and beefier instead of sweet and almost desert-like.
Even still, the cigar today is still a fantastic smoke, nonetheless, but I'm just hoping the taste will find it's way back to the glory days of the Serie V more than 2 years ago.”
“Great smoke! Good draw, burn and ash! Great with a Jack & Coke!”
“Awesome cigar. Love it”
“just what the doctor ordered. chewy and good from first fire to the nub.”
“One of the best cigars I have tasted! Highly recommend them!”
“Nice pull, great flavor, a great 2 hour smoke, well balanced, better than my favorite Oliva G.”
“Can't wait to get another batch of these beauties. Into the humidor they will go for those special times. Thanks guys.
