CAO’s best-seller gets a wild new spin off.

CAO Amazon Basin is a very limited new extension to CAO’s ultra-popular Brazilia blend. Just don’t expect more of the same, because this unique small-batch blend is like nothing ever before.

The special sauce used to create Amazon Basin is a tobacco called ’Braganca,’ a rare tobacco harvested from a remote region in the Amazonian rainforest. It’s really crazy, actually. Everything from its taste to the way it’s cultivated. Grown in a virgin, tropical land in the rainforest and harvested only once every 3 years, Braganca may be one of the most elusive tobaccos in the world. After the tobacco is harvested, it’s rolled by hand into tubes and fermented for 6 months. Then, it must be transported by canoe back to the mainland. Wild in every sense. To create CAO Amazon Basin, this Braganca tobacco was blended with tobaccos from 5 different countries and finished with a dark, Ecuadorian Sumatra ligero wrapper. But despite the breadth of tobaccos contained within, you can still taste and smell the unique Amazonian tobacco almost instantly. An exotic, distinctive taste that’s bold and very unique…unlike anything you’ve ever had before. Additionally, each cigar is finished with a rustic, 100% twisted tobacco ‘band’ that adds another unique touch.

Only 2,000 boxes were made and the tobaccos used to create this blend have been exhausted.

Customer Reviews of “CAO Brazilia Amazon Basin”
I really enjoy this rich and complex cigar. To me it has rich fruit tastes, as well as some pepper and woody notes. I bought a box at my local B&M, and ordered 3 more boxes from CI, if that tells you how much I enjoy this cigar.
I pre-ordered a box of these and split them with my son. I'm not so sure I should have let him in on it. CAO has come up with another big winner. This cigar has a flavor like no other. I won't try to explain it, you'll just have to find out for yourself. With this being a small batch cigar, they may not last long. I'm thinking I should order more before they disappear. Once they're gone....they're gone. And as usual, CAO priced them way below what they could sell for. By the way, go ahead and smoke right through the ring. It's not worth taking the chance of damaging the wrapper by trying to remove it. Thanks CI and CAO! :)
Bought a single from a B&M to sample before buying a box. Firm construction, great draw and burn and a real nice flavor. It was also easy to relight when I had to let it go out to do stuff. Just waiting for my box to come in now.

Don't waste your money and time buying the 5 pack; get a box. Better yet, get more than one box. I love CAO cigars so I knew these would be great and went with a box. I'm not gonna try and describe this beauty beacuse it's so damn good and unique, but I will say that while I was burning my second one, I ordered another box because I got so damn anxious thinking I only had 16 left. Don't pass these up!

Best new cigar in 2014. Excellent draw and burn, with a rich, earthy, woody, full tobacco taste. Starts off medium-full and increases in strength toward the end. I recommend at least one week of humidor time before smoking. I have purchased several boxes.
WOW!!! Great first impression. Love it! Thank you CAO for such a great cigar. Just had one for the first time. Need to get more only have 4 left out of the 5 pack. Gonna order a box or two or maybe more.

Best cigar I have had for the last year! What is that taste, cant get enough of it and the finish is so clean it doesnt feel like I've been smoking! Really nice burn firm to hold in my teeth. Very good pair with sipping quality tequila!
This great cigar is not a 'Smoke', it's an 'Adventure'. I've experienced a lot of brands, but this one is something very different. All sorts of flavors here...I found the taste changing from draw to draw, but always excellent. A real find...get them while you can!"
I’m a fan of flavorful, full-bodied cigars; Man-o-War Ruination, Padilla Miami, CAO Extreme, 501 La Bomba; great, heavy smokes. This one is up there with the greats the Amazon Basin, in one cigar, has quickly joined my top 2; Extremely flavorful, no bitter juice, nice thick smoke. This is one you’ll want a roach clip for. I will order these by the box until they’re gone.

This cigar is the REAL DEAL! I'm a big fan of CAO, specifically the Brazilia, and they have outdone themselves with the Amazon Basin. I started with the 5 pack and regret I didn't just dive into a box these babies are so good. If you want a delicious, smooth, unique tasting cigar this stick is for you! Enough talking about it, I'm going to go buy a box, you should too.

This is clearly the most unique cigar that I have ever had. If you are looking for something different, give these a shot.
I'm really not one for reviews, but needed to make one for these smokes. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC smoke from beginning to end. Great draw, excellent flavors and tones. I'm thinking of buying another box. Speaking of box, it was very appealing to the eye, however after leaving it out for a day the top of it dried out and shrunk. So it no longer fits the top of the box. 2 Thumbs up on the stogies.

You can smoke it, that for sure. Not as enjoyable as the hype had me ready for. I would rate this as a must try just because of the limited production, but not one I would drop a ton of cash on. Burn was good, construction was good as well. Felt like a quality smoke in your hand, just not as flavorful as I had hoped.

I love being early on something this good. If you haven't bought these yet, please don't. I have no room in my humidor so I can't buy more today, but I'll be buying a box very soon. Please don't sell out.

A handsome, manly cigar! I bought a 5 pack and have smoked 2 of them...well constructed with nice flavors. My only negative is I found the draw to be tight...hopefully some rest in the humidor will improve this a bit. I won't jump on the band wagon until I've given them a fair test.

I got a box of these and I'm glad I did when I did! Awesome smoke for the price. I've yet to smoke another similar. Very unique and tasty for any time of the day. Since these are rare, I'm going to smoke the rest on special occasions!
RS of Spring, TX
As a CAO fan, when I heard about this smoke, I had to get my hands on it as soon as they were available. I had smoked it right off the truck and it did not disappoint. This is a very good smoke that has an excellent flavor profile. It's a shame that this is a limited cigar and will be sold out very quickly.

It's the best cigar so far. I highly recommend it to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

CAO Brazilia Amazon Basin

Posted by Steve R
Half Brazilia. Half Amazon. Half Amazing. Errr....what?

If you were with me right now, you’d find yourself in the uncomfortably hot world of Las Vegas, where folks like me stay indoors at all times and only see the light of day when sprinting from the hotel doors to whatever car is driving us to wherever we’re going. I can’t stand this weather. ‘It’s a dry heat,’ they say. Who gives an eff, I am soaked, my shirt is like a cheesecloth, and the only thing I want is to shower and stand in front of the AC.
But here I am, ready for the annual RTDA trade show – or what is now called the IPCPR (International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers Association) trade show. This is the time of the year when many manufacturers and brand owners release their latest creations. It was here, when many of the world’s highest rated, ‘Top 25’ cigars first left an impression on the industry. Brands like Oliva Serie ‘V,’ Alec Bradley Prensado, Aging Room, Rocky Patel Decade, and so much more. Needless to say, I am looking forward to the next few days....
If you were with me right now, you’d likely enjoy the zesty aroma escaping the cigar I am burning: from CAO, the Brazilia Amazon Basin. I know, I know. I just wrote about CAO. But, there’s no way in hell I am going to miss the chance to review a limited release extension of one of my favorite CAO lines, let alone one of my favorite cigars – the mighty Brazilia. And, based on the first few minutes of this unique looking specimen, it’s important for me to be among the first to fill you in about this cigar. It looks good, and the start has been nothing but awesome sauce.
CAO Brazilia Amazon Basin is a dark, glossy cigar made in just one size: a 6”x52 Toro. No bands, rather, each cigar is wrapped with tightly wound tobacco leaf, skillfully applied to offer a lovely, rustic appearance. Prior to lighting, the foot gives off an earthy, floral note with a touch of damp wood. Me likey.
Upon lighting, the damp wood takes center stage. The cigar is rich to the core, and pumps out thick, heavy clouds of white smoke. The flavor is bold yet balanced, and the wrapper leaves a distinct sweetness behind, lingering on the tip of my lips and tip of the tongue. There’s a dash of black pepper in there that you really have to search for, but it’s enjoyable once you find it.
I am going to be completely honest with you. The flavor you receive from this cigar is really hard to identify. It’s incredibly unique – I may even be so bold to say exotic. Cigar makers always rave about using special tobaccos from special locales, but the cigars typically throw out a rather ordinary bouquet. CAO Brazilia Amazon Basin is far different, dishing out a range of flavor unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Truly a product of an uncommon strain of top grade, aged tobaccos harvested from the Amazonian rainforest – these leaves are called Braganca, and they’re harvested just once every three years. These Braganca tobaccos are then blended with dee-lish tobaccos grown in 4 other, different countries prior to a dark Ecuador Sumatra ligero wrapper encloses them.
Midway through, the power starts to kick in, but it’s complemented by a rich, creamy character that coats my palate with each puff. The cigar is toasty and sweet, the black pepper is a little more prominent, and that damp wood note definitely still shows itself during each exhale. Then there’s that something I cannot identify.
This cigar is driving me crazy. I can’t quite explain exactly what I am tasting beyond that. I love the flavor, and I love the richness, but I just can’t explain it. It’s rich yet floral. Hearty yet sweet. Powerful yet graceful. Argh! It’s driving me nuts.

Long ago, some of you may have remembered something we (in very dark corners) called swamp tobacco. Literally, tobacco grown in swamps. The flavor was outrageous. Rich. rustic, chewy, zesty, woody, sweet. That's the closest thing I can think of when I try to pinpoint this flavor. Rich, damp wood delivered in thick clouds of smoke you can literally chew on, coating thy palate, whilst dusting every last taste bud with two parts sweetness for every one part black pepper. While the cigar doesn't evolve throughout the burn, the unique subtleties at play make the Amazon Basin incredibly complex. Something you'll find yourself craving, since the flavor can't be - and won't be - found in any other cigar. Power, check. Complexity, check. Balance, check. Unique, check.

It's something you've got to try. Find it. Buy one. Enjoy it. Realize you should have bought the box. Face palm. Buy the box. Enjoy more. But know this is a limited release for very good reason which has nothing to do with marketing or creating demand. The process by which the Amazon Basin is made, and the tobaccos are harvested, is freakin' ridonkulous. There's some videos out there about it - check them out if you have time. You'll be floored, and you'll realize why the folks at CAO went through so much trouble over the past few years to create this amazing cigar.
