Gurkha Park Avenue

Top-shelf, sub-$3.50? Holy mackerel!

Superior quality and precision blending combine in this astounding value from Kaizad Hansotia, the maker of Gurkha cigars. The “Rolls Royce of Cigars,” Park Avenue is a savory cigar appreciated by all palates. Handmade in Nicaragua, the blend consists of well-aged Cuban-seed long-fillers grown in the black soils of Nicaragua and lush tobaccos from the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic. On the outside, a flawless Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador seals the deal, adding a pleasant, creamy component to an already complex bouquet. The blend is leathery, with hints of nuts and baked bread, and remains smooth with a medium-bodied profile down to the nub.

Gurka Park Avenue Torpedo is a great cigar
Medium strength, interesting smooth smoke, Im too newish to know what creamy, nutty, light leathery actually tastes like. I go for mild0medium, and I think it is not bad at all to my liking. I will order it again as it is interesting and smooth.

Same Great Gurkha Flavor
Great Gurkha flavor a bit on the peppery side for my liking. Excellent cigar for after dinner smoke with a single malt Glenfeddich scotch after a nice ribeye steak.

Nice cigar!
Nice cigar, not too big (ring size wise); definitely an inexpensive option for an everday mild-to-medium body burner.

Good mild cigar
Good cigar, highly enjoyable and easy to smoke. Very mild with a great body. Had some issues with the foot (lighting and staying lit) of a few of these cigars, perhaps it's me but since I don't have this issue with other cigars thought I'd mention it. Overall good cigars, would buy again.

Although I personally favor medium to full cigars I keep Park Avenues on hand to share with friends who prefer a mild cigar or those who don't smoke cigars regularly.

Excellent choice.
Flavorful mild cigar. Great construction. Super bargain.

Good value on a nice cigar.
Liked most everything about them... good flavor and no harshness in the later half of the smoke. Very enjoyable. The only negative is the wrapper seems to be a little dry (flakey) but some extended time in the humidor should fix that.

Variable quality
I've bought a couple of boxes of these in the last year. First 2 boxes were good -- met my expectations for this price, etc. Would give 4 stars. About 1/4 of the cigars in the last box had a sour taste. Not so bad you coudn't smoke them, but enough to cut into the enjoyment. would give 2 stars based on the last box alone.

Maybe not the best on the market, but considering the price not bad. Taste little bland, even burn to the end, no hard / hot draw. Good especialy for someone who just start to enjoy the cigar world.

so so
This stick had no flavor, non at all. Way to light for me.
2 out of 5
I try milder sticks from time to time to go with my coffee in the morning, this was way to light to enjoy, maybe perfect for a new smoker, but there are better mild sticks out there.

Favorite Daily Smoke
This is my favorite daily smoke. It can't be beat for the money; unless Cigars International can expose me to something new? They are extremely consistent in quality, burn great and draw easy. I stock up each time they go on sale, usually 3 torpedo boxes at a time. If I had a bigger humidor I would buy more!

Park Avenue Deal!
The Gurkha Park Avenue Churchill is a medium bodied cigar that tastes phenomenal. They burn great and hold up well on the golf course. A great cigar for the money. I've turned on many friends to this cigar, and they cant believe this cigar does not cost $10-12. Great cigar for an unbelievable price. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

Gurkha Park Avenue king of mild
This is consistently the best smoke and value of any cigar I have enjoyed. Great ash and flavor with lots of smoke and a wonderful aroma. My favorite hands down!
Customer Testimonials
Bought a box when they were $20 off because my dad told me they were his golf course cigar. I lit one straight off the truck and was impressed. The longer they rest the better they get. I find myself grabbing these more and more out of the humidor. Great smoke for a great price. Perfect to share with your brother-in-law too. He doesn't feel slighted and you won't feel like he wasted half the cigar when he puts it out before he reaches the nub.
I just got mine in yesterday. Great smooth smoke. Nice even burn.
Good smoke, only negative is the wrapper is very fragile.
Amazing quality for the price. Highly recommended.
One of the best values for the $$$$.
I love cigars because of the diversity of the experiences. This is a wonderful example. Great looking cigar! Wonderful, smooth (although fragile) wrapper. Good taste, very consistent from stick to stick. One of the best deals for a mild-medium cigar. I found that it needs to rest a bit between puffs because it heats up easily. Like many of the Gurkas, I find that it needs a good amount of time in the humidor prior to smoking. I also found this cigar to compliment a great deal of different beverages - coffee, stronger unsweetened teas, pilsners and fruity saison beers. I will have this in my stable of cigars for a while!
What can I say? LOVE 'EM!!
So I bought a regular CI 10 pack sampler. One of these bad mofos was in it. Now as you can see I bought a whole box. Killer stick is all I have to say.
Mild, pleasant everyday lunchtime cigar. Doesn't overpower or burn too hot start to finish.
This is a classy smoke. Medium bodied with a loose draw and thick smoke. It's not the tastiest thing I've had, but it is quite good, and never really gets bitter or harsh.
Total honesty! Ordered a box of these & fired 1 up the day they got to the house! Harsh and bitter - I figured lesson learned never again. To give them a fair shake I put a few in the humidor for 2 weeks & WOW nice smoke! Smooth even burn & the pepper flavor others have described is very pleasant. Not my go to but in my top 20 - WILL BUY AGAIN!
Finally! A cigar I can enjoy all the way down to the last inch. This is one cigar that does not fill with tar half way down. Very consistent and tasty! It is a fine medium smoke that does not disappoint.
Solid smoke, maduro version is even better.
I have only been smoking cigars for a year so naturally I like a more medium to mild smoke and I have to say this is the best cigar I have smoked by far. I started with a few different ones but now I almost only smoke Gurkhas. Very good cigar and I recommend it. I will be smoking this cigar for a while.
Great cigar!
I picked up a box of these Gurkha Park Avenue Torpedo's (6.2"x52") about 3 weeks ago from CI. Never had them before. They sat in my humidor for these 3 weeks and I'm sitting pool side and thought I'd try one now. A great smoke. I never had to retouch at all. An even burn throughout. This 'gar last me about 45-50 minutes. It's a great Mild-Medium smoke when you want to burn one for a little less than an hour. I smoked it almost to the nub before it got to hot for me. You can't beat the price ($59.95 for a box of 20 with a FREE Colibri Grip Gurkha Cutter). I'll be ordering these again. Thanks CI for keeping these quality smokes affordable!
This is my every day cigar! I love them any time of the day or night!
If you're new to cigar smoking, start here. The first time I had these (or any cigar for that matter) was when I picked up a fiver of these. It still is by far my favorite Connecticut wrapped cigar I've had to date. It's not too terribly complex, but it's consistent, well built and what's there in terms of flavor is well blended. And the price won't break the bank either!
I've bought a number if packs of these and love them. Consistent, burn well and pleasant draw, sweet medium smoke....
Let me tell you don't be afraid to try these great smokes out. Extremely smooth buttery taste and very very consistant all the way to the end. I love this cigar especially for the price. Real mild while exhaling I promise you will enjoy this cigar.
Been reading so many good things about these,I had to order, even though I am a huge fan of the medium to full flavored maduro's,I thought this might be a nice change of pace....was not disappointed, very smooth flavor, great first of the day cigar with your morning coffee,it is one beautifully made cigar, buy some,I will be buying more!!
Great cigar for the $$$.Slow even burn, easy draw and good taste!!!!!.I always keep a few in the humidor!!!
Smooth and delicious. This cigar is lovely in appearance and packed with flavor all the way to the fingertips. Can't wait to smoke another one. Very mild and creamy. It fits the description!
After reading the customer reviews I couldn't wait to light up one of these great looking torpedo's and I was not disappointed. A mild to medium smoke with easy draw and perfect burn right out of the box. After just a week's rest in the humidor they mellowed out to a very smooth and creamy delight. One of the best I've had in some time. Nice weight and feel with plenty of aromatic smoke and at reasonable price. Wonderful with the morning coffee or after dinner treat. Just ordered my second box!
I like bold smokes so these bored me to death. However, they are creamy and 'easy' to smoke. These will be a good smoke when you need to give yourself a break from anything intense. Doesn't finish well, but the cigar is slow burning.
Excellent mild cigar at an incredible value. The quality lives up to the name, so at this price, I'll be coming back for more of these regularly.
This is a fine, well constructed Gurkha that will absolutely please anyone who enjoys a mild cigar.
The gurkha park avenue, delicious, notes of white pepper, a creamy after taste, razor sharp burn, strong ash, an all around perfect smoke!!! That's why I just bought another box!! Thanks CI!!
Smooth, cigar, they are one of my favorites. They go good with a glass of disaronno, but what cigar doesn't.
I have been a cigar smoker now for seven years. Like most, you start out very mild then progress. I don't smoke as many of this style of Cigar as I did as a beginner but I have tried all the high end Conn wrapper brands many times. I still enjoy a good Conn and keep them in my humidors. This Park Avenue is a very, very good mild cigar with real flavor. It's nice any time of the day with good ( not perfect ) construction. It has a classic look. Straw, woody and a touch of spice. It's got some variation as it progresses and you can smoke it to the nub and still enjoy it. The quality for a mild cigar is better than almost all but a few. For the price it's the best value/quality I have found in a medium Conn.
Love these cigars, I must admit Gurkha is fast becoming my favorite brand and these are some of the best medium cigars I have ever had, very smooth drag, good head change, only complaint is the flavor could have been more deep.
Very nice cigar, good flavor, burns even. I would buy another box.
Mr. Hansotia, you have done it again! Ever the skeptic in regards to low price point cigars (an American habit equating expensive to high quality), I gave the Park Avenue a tasting as I have rarely been disappointed with anything out of the house of Gurkha. Well, the Park Avenue is no exception. Aptly named as it has a taste profile that is far removed from the strong warrior named Gurkha sticks, this is a mild, creamy smoke that paired perfectly with my morning coffee. Immediately upon lightation, the Ecuadorian Connecticut seed wrapper carresses the palate with its hazelnutty flavor and merges with the Cuban seed long-fillers that puncuates all the reasons why I enjoy cigars in the first place. Very comperable to Rocky Patel's Connecticut but without the inconsistant burn and construction of Rocky's products. As I dub this work of art my new "Morning Cigar", I can assure you a wave of complements when you share your cherrished supply with friends who enjoy this type of taste profile. I can also, with confidence, recommend the Park Avenue to novice cigar smokers who are looking to start up a humidor without breaking open their piggy banks! Consider pairing with a blonde roast coffee with 2 cap fulls of Bailey's Irish Cream. Enjoy, my friends!
I tried my first Park Avenue today and am quite pleased. Despite it being a bit more mild than most Gurkha's I smoke, it has a subtle boldness which coupled with it's smoothness and simplicity of taste make it a very enjoyable smoke. The draw was nice and fluid and burn very even. I will definitely order some more.
A very smooth, good smoke; worth every penny.
I ordered both the natural and the maduro Park Avenue. I'm glad I did. The maduro was such a great smoke I plan on buying more until they run out. Nice draw, great taste, thick smoke, it was awesome! After that I had to try the natural and all I can say is ditto. You can't go wrong with either of these smokes.
Love this cigar. I was given one to sample by one of my colleagues and was overwhelmed with the pleasant tastes and aroma that come from this cigar. I decided that it was time to invest and buy a box myself so I can enjoy them on a regular basis. Nice light sweet flavor that is highly enjoyable. was good, didn't need any touch-ups, good and even burn, loose draw, white smoke. Flavor was mild, and consistent. Flavor of creaminess, nuttiness, molasses, nutty, leathery cedar, with a slight spice. Ash held on for a good 1-1 1/2". Overall great cigar to pair with morning coffee....Will buy again and store in humi
Very nice cigar. Smooth draw.
Just had my first Park Avenue. Was given to me by a friend. Smoother then I thought it would be. I would smoke one again.
This one blows your mind. Smooth to the end. Awesome taste that you can't get enough of.
I am new to cigars. Full bodied cigars and single malt scotch are a few years away, but I never expected to completely enjoy a cigar as much as I did when I lit these up! So smooth, just enough spice to keep ya honest and enough nuttiness to keep ya coming back. These are great and I will be purchasing a box of these regularly. Seriously, you can't go wrong with these sticks!
Excellent smoke. Whether it's after dinner or during a round of golf with the guys, you will enjoy this cigar. Very smooth with a nice, even burn that's sure to please any taste bud.
....Medium bodied cigar which had many changes in flavor throughout....
You can't go wrong with a Park Avenue.
I don't think I need to say one word about these. If you have tried them, you already know they are deliciously smooth. Honestly, I use these as my good luck charm when playing cornhole. If you like a savory mild-med cigar, these are for you and at their price they can't be beat. A fine cigar from a fine company which is sometimes overlooked because it doesn't have Gurkha emblazened on the label.
Awesome smoke! My new every day favorite. Loved the rich flavor and consistent burn. Don't tell anyone though...I want to save these for myself!
Smokes well, but has a little bit of a flaky wrapper....
Nicely wrapped n capped, burns straight, ash is soft but almost holds an inch, bland for the first half, very mild with a decent draw, dry smoke with light tobacco taste, second half picked up a dry creaminess, pretty much ends there. Not a regular for rotation.
Excellent Cigar! Thick white smoke with mildness. Easy draw and even burn. Perfect with coffee or just taking it easy on the porch with a beer. Must Try!
These guys are a real treat. When you're not in the mood for a heavy smoke, this is a great stick. Nice mild flavors that finishes with some spice.
Great cigar with a very even burn. Gurkha's have been one of my favorite cigars and these hold true to the Gurkha reputation. If you are looking for a nice cigar to smoke in the Man Cave while simply watching TV this is the cigar for you.
Can't beat the price on these. Great draw, smoke output, very even burn, creamy yet still a smoke you could have any time of the day.
I ordered a box because I couldn't say no to the price. They arrived today and I braved the 30 degree cold and wind to try one out and it was fantastic! The construction is flawless and the burn was nice and even (even with me smoking a bit faster than I had wanted to due to the weather). The flavor is well balanced. Earthy notes of leather stay constant throughout. There is a mild touch of pepper at the beginning which mellows into a nutty flavor half way through. This is an excellent cigar at a price that should not be missed.
I avoided Connecticut's Like the plague, tried this after it sat in the humidor for about 4-5 months..Loved it. Park Avenue 44 Churchill's changed the way I felt about Connecticut wrapped cigars, now I am more open minded. The Cigar had a great buttered bread flavors through French and Retro-hailing. Construction was great, burn was fine but not perfect, no need for touch ups...just wasn't razor sharp which wasn't a problem anyway. Really enjoyed this cigar, if you're like me and usually stick to Maduros or strong Ligeros, go ahead and give this a shot....may just be a table turner. Best Gurkha I've ever had.
Nice cigar. Mild, good burn, lots of creamy taste and smoke. Has more tastes than many other mild cigars all the way to the nub. Even full flavored smokers would enjoy once in a while. Didn't have the label sticking problem as mentioned in a earlier post. "An all day stick"
Great Cigar! Enjoy!
Nice mellow morning cigar. Would be real nice for about two bucks a stick instead of three.
I must say I was VERY surprised with the Park Avenue. I got in a sample pack. I like to try sample packs from time to time to try different brands without having to buy a box and find out they are junk! This brand is a "top shelf" smoke! I have bought cigars locally at cigar shops for over $10 that aren't as good as this one is. It's medium bodied with a peppery vanilla cream flavor from start to finish. Kinda reminds me of the forbidden fruit if ya get my drift! I will buy a box of these my next purchase.
This cigar lights up light and airy, but somehow satisfying for the full bodied smoker like myself. Don't play with the bands for they will peel the delicate wrapper. Nuts and cedar play out with an excellent draw. It will all catch up to you as it all intensifies with spice and pepper right to the nub. A true masterpiece.
Gurkha cigars have always been an enigma for me, the more expensive, the less i have liked them, It could be because I don't usually have the patience to let them rest a while, but when I smoked the Park Avenue, and the Cuban Legacy for that matter, right of the truck, I was all in on these, The park avenue was a Mega Surprise, It is a rare occasion indeed, when I Like a Connecticut wrapped cigar, Only 2 I have ever really liked, 5 Vegas Gold the other, Those Vegas Gold Torpedo's are so smooth, they do melt in your mouth, But this Park Avenue has a complexity I couldn't believe, I Got it from the Mctwist sampler, It's mild, but real close to medium, like the Vegas Gold, I love it.
Just tried my first Park Avenue Churchill and found it to be a great stick. Mild and creamy throughout the smoke, even as it got down to the nub. Many cigars start out smooth but tend to get harsh and abrasive to the taste buds (for me) as I near the nub. This smoke was fantastic all the way through. I got this one in a sampler and was shocked when I found the price to be $3 a stick. I will definitely be getting more of these in the future.
Very well balance an mild. Love the aroma and well made. It's a every day smoke for sure plus the price on these are great for your pocket book. I'm not a mild man but this will do. Perfect way too start my day, fulfill my needs just before I start working. I'll order more when I'm running low. Thanks CI
I put a box of these in the humi and couldn't resist my curiosity after four weeks and caved. So far I've smoked three sticks and was pleasantly surprised. Gurkha has done it again. These cigars are mild, smooth, and creamy, but have one added pleasure. After the first inch a flavor and aroma kicks in that is still mild and delightfully spicy, but like no other spice I've ever encountered. It is like a fine dessert that lasts for the rest of the cigar. The cigar's wrapper is a little veiny with one or two soft spots, but not a problem. The burn was good, the draw was perfect, the ash was about an inch or so, and lots of thick creamy smoke. This cigar is a mild-medium, cool, pleasurable smoke down to the nub.
Great draw and burn straight out of the box. Really smooth cigar down to the end. Will be making this cigar a regular in my humidors. a box of these last week and smoked a couple with my boss. I agree with previous reviewer, for the money this a great cigar, full of character and poise. Then my boss hands me a Gurkha Crest.....I was completely swept off my feet, never thought a cigar could take me to heaven and back. But my budget dictates the Park Avenue and I will rotate these in with my usual Vegas smokes. This cigar (Park Ave) is well worth the money.....
As a maduro man my reviews of the lighter cigars are slightly skewed. Another low end ghurka id have to skip on ever ordering again. Too mild to the point of being boring. Wasnt even sure i was smoking a cigar half the time. For a mild cigar ill stick with the 1876s when im in the mood. The only thing ill give these is you can smoke them out the box where the 1876s are very bitter and need a couple months in the humidor but after that have better flavor then these. If you dont want to go the cheapy route then the 5 Vegas Gold are a much better smoke then the Park Avenue.
I got one of these in a freebee offer and I was really surprised. It was real mild but full of flavor. There was a hit of nutmeg with a cinnamon finish. I will hold a place in my large humi for a box of these.
Just ordered myself a box... can't wait to give'm a try
I've been off the milds for a few months, but enjoyed one of these this morning. I had forgotten just how good they were. Burn was absolutely razor sharp, ashed only twice, smoked it down to about an inch and a half. Very smooth, mild, and just tasty enough for a morning smoke. Were I to purchase ANY mild cigars, it would be these. Excellent deal.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this cigar. Some inexpensive Connecticut wrapper cigars don't have a lot of flavor. The price on this one is very low and that can mean hit or miss. Further, I have found Ghurka itself to be very hit or miss (they make some of my favorite cigars, and some that I outright hate), and this is one of their budget brands. I loved this cigar. I smoke everything from good mild-to-medium bodied cigars (usually, I don't like cheaper mild cigars though) through big experience, full bodied cigars. In the mild to medium range, Ashton is my all time favorite. However, they can get expensive on a teacher's salary. So, I have been on the lookout for some less expensive mild-to-medium and medium bodied cigars that are at least reminiscent of Ashton. I've found a lot of less expensive medium and full bodied cigars I like (though they are nothing like an Ashton), but mild-to-medium just hasn't worked out without spending a few bucks. Well, this is what I've been looking for. While on the mild side of mild to medium bodied, it doesn't lack for flavor. I get a lot of the creamy, mellow, feel and flavor that I like out of a good mild-to-medium Connecticut wrapper cigar. Construction was top notch. Burn was very consistent. This is going to be one of the cigars that are on permanent rotation in my humidor.
I've smoked boxes and boxes and boxes of these cigars . Yum
Off the truck, right out of the box, this stick was fabulous right down to the nub!!! Smooth, creamy, touches of leather and earth.... I can only imagine how great it'll become after a few weeks in the Humi.....if they make it a few weeks....Get 'em, Smoke 'em, and get some more....
Gotta tell ya, I was a little apprehensive in ordering these cigars, but boy am I glad I did! The peppery start, the great finish! Highly recommended by me, damn well worth the money!
Good cigar for the price. Well constructed, mild flavor, good everyday smoke.
I was given one of these out on the golf course and was impressed so much to save the label (sometimes my game causes me to imbibe and forget things). I told another buddy about it and lo and behold, the next day he actually received the CI mag with the same cigars on the cover! Needless to say, I promptly ordered a box and hev been enjoying them ever since. They are a great smoke, nice even draw and produces a good amount of smoke. At the CI price now offered, I'm tempted to order a few more boxes to use as an exceptional everyday stick.
Second sampling of this cigar. My previous experience was just over a year ago and at that time I thought it was very good. At this point my opinion has only improved and the reason is simple at less than $3.00 it is an unbeatable smoke. If you are a fan of mild to mild/medium cigars look no further. The Park Avenue is OUTSTANDING!!!
Gotta tell ya, there are good cigars and great cigars, and this cigar ain't neither of those! Bland, one-note cigars, with a "hot" taste, and no depth. Not bad as a golf/lawn mowing/drunk-at-the-bar cigar, but not a fine smoke.
Smooth and creamy with hints of pepper. Nice even draw and easy on the pocket book. Won't send your head into a spiral on an empty gas tank. If Sgt. Rock likes this cigar it has to be great! Curious if Sgt. Fury like this stick too. Stan Lee? You out there?
I was very impressed with this cigar, the price is a steal because you would never think it would be priced as low as they are had someone given you one to try. And I'm not talking about the label, but the way it feels, tastes, and burns. I usually lean towards medium-full strength, but I really appreciated the full flavor in the park avenue torpedo. It's def not complex, but it hit a consistent soft and round arrangement of floral tea, sandal wood, and Indian herbs and spices, it's very uncharacteristic of most connecticut wrappers. To me I enjoyed this a lot more than mild cigars like Avo, Davidoff, and even Rocky Connecticut. The only stick it can't stand up to is the Nub Conn 460.
Not a big fan. Well-built cigars, but extremely mild. Great if you're beginning to smoke, especially if you don't know your boundaries for light/medium/mild bodied cigars. When I say well-built, I mean that they burn evenly. Wrapper came in good shape, no flaking. Ashes a good bit, no tubing or anything annoying like that. Still, I got this as a sampler and it's one of the last cigars left. I can say now that I've smoked a bit, I prefer a heavier taste and this just doesn't cut it. If I ever get some in a sampler again, I'll save them for my girlfriend or friends that don't want a more taxing cigar, as the flavor is barely noticeable to me. If you don't want something that knocks you off your feet though, this may be a good fit for you. This construction at this price seems to be a rare find, Gurkha fan or not.
I ordered a box of these for a wedding just to have a nice inexpensive box to place by the open bar. The box looks extremely high class and the cigars themselves looked great to all of us novices. These cigars made for a really fun and inexpensive addition to the party. I smoke maybe a cigar a month tops but I thought it was a great cigar for the occasion and so did everyone else.
Very good cigar leaning more on the medium side of mild. Let em rest for 60 days as they are bit harsh from the get go, and you won’t be disappointed.
Received this gem as part of a sampler pack. Very pleasant mild smoke with a good draw and a long burn. Will now become a part of every order I make through CI.
Can't go wrong with these. I had one from a sampler that i smoked with friends at the beach, not one person found them to be displeasing. Great for any time of the day.
This is awesome for the price.. Newer palette but have been exploring quite readily. burns nice, sweet and spicy,- just right in balance for me, Good with a cup of coffee or a late night keger, this cigar hit the spot and I will enjoy so many more willingly.
SGT. Rock Say's, affordable Gurkha for enlisted mens pay. This baby is great for after training on the tank range or the manuever box, smooth and nice draw with no bite helps bring you down to earth and still remain manly and ready for your next adventure.
A Gurkha Park Avenue and a good cup of coffee are my idea of a great way to start the day. This is one of my go to morning cigars. Consistent from start to finish with a fine burn, great draw and creamy flavor. Mild, but has enough complexity for a morning cigar and not a total wussy in the spice department.
They have arrived! Very nice indeed. Well constructed. Slow burn, nice flavor with hints of chocolate and pepper at the mid way point. Nice heavy white smoke up front. Earthy start.Definatley will buy a box again. No complaints.
Just orderd my first box not ten minutes ago. Anticipating the arrival in two or three days. Chris the phone rep was a gem. Typical of CI's bar-none customer serice. Read all the fan mail about this blend of Ghurka's and seems a made a good choice.
nice cigar for the money (but every band i peal off wrapper tears the wrapper)
I tried my first "Gurkha Park Avenue", yesterday at a B.B.Q. Normally, I prefer the fuller bodied cigars, however I have been interested in something, a bit milder, for late nights or early mornings. I've tried about 5 or 6 different brands over the last 6 months. Finally, one that works for me. Definitely, on the right side of medium bodied. Leather, some varying amounts of black pepper, a subtle sweetness that I can't pin down and some nuttiness. Not overly complex but this beauty goes through some very tasty nuances. Of course, the wrapper brings it home with copious amounts of cream and dare I say a faint touch of vanilla. All in all, this is one complete cigar. 60% of the cigars, in my El Diablo humi, are Gurkha's and now I have found my mellow stick, without compromising the flavor. Thanks C.I., for your prices.... I can still smoke quality cigars.
I got a few boxes of these (Gurkha's Park Avenue) and did a split between Terry B, Steve-O the Godfather and myself. All 3 of us loved them. The draw is very easy and smooth. Flavor is excellent. Goes well with beer and food. One week end I brought a hand full of these in to work for a function and a couple of the guys loved them enough that they went on the internet and ordered a box each on the spot. Friends who come over to hang in the oasis & the man cave love them too. So far every one who has tried one is instantly hooked.
Gurka Park Avenue is a very nice, if not one dimensional, early morning smoke. Loads of peanut/cashew flavors with just a touch of spice. The burn was near perfection. Draw was a little tighter than I like but still very good. Though the lack of complexity got a little boring near the end, this may become my mild/medium smoke of choice, especially considering the great price.
this is the best smoke i have found (Gurkha's Park Avenue).it has a great even burn right down to the nub .if you dont like this smoke, oh well.
OK, This is one of those consistent smokes that just makes you happy.Park Avenue by Gurkha If you are looking for a "mild" cigar for that 6:30 am tee time, first cup o joe or an anytime smoke this is the one. Flavors out creamy and smooth not grassy like so many Connecticut shades can very very consistent throughout the smoke a worthy cigar to have in the ol humi. Also must say if you have a newbie smoker or are one you can't go wrong here. Thanks Ghurka!
Now I know what all the fuss is about the Gurkha brand. This is one of the smoothest cigars I have ever tried. (Park Avenue) Easy draw, clouds of smooth smoke, even burn, and never got hot until there was nothing left to hold onto. I know you're supposed to rest your new babies when you first get them, but I just had to try one right out of the box. Gonna be hard to leave the rest alone for too long. I hope the the price stays low so they can be a regular smoke of mine.

Park Avenue Serie 44

Finally! An everyday smoke from Kaizad Hansotia (maker of Gurkha cigars) without the Ferrari price tag! Seriously, I don’t mind ponying up the big bucks every now and again for a cigar as unique, complex and well-constructed as a Gurkha Master Select or Gurkha Regent but for me, it certainly is not a cigar that I can afford to enjoy daily! Don’t get me wrong now as I do believe that Gurkhas are one of the few brands out there that are truly worthy of commanding such a price but dammit, I want something just as good that I can enjoy every day.

A while back we got our hands on a very nice, no-frills cigar from Mr. Hansotia called the Park Avenue Serie 44. Nothing too fancy, simply 25 cigars packaged neatly in a bundle with an elegant gold on copper band. When I saw the price I became very intrigued having always thought of Mr. Hansotia as a “high-end” maker of super-premium cigars. So, I pulled out my credit card and bought my first bundle of 25. I say “first” because if you were to look at my order history here at CI you would quickly realize that it is literally peppered with purchases of these cigars. As I have mentioned in past reviews – what typically impresses me with a cigar is a characteristic that makes it stand out from the crowd. It could be anything from an unusual level of complexity to a unique flavor or spice that I have never experienced before. That’s just what we have here…

Light this cigar up and you will likely think to yourself, “pretty smooth with just a bit of spice on the back of the tongue”. What is exciting to me is the gradual and consistent change in both strength and flavor as the Park Avenue continues to burn. It is deceptive how this cigar quietly evolves into a full-bodied and more spicier version of its former self. Certainly the spice is attributable to the Nicaraguan long-fillers that make up the filler in its entirety. Yet the unmistakable smoothness encountered at the start is no doubt due to the aged Connecticut Shade wrapper that is used to finish of the Park Avenue Serie 44.

Bottom Line: A tremendous value cigar that delivers cigar after cigar, bundle after bundle. At less than $2.80 per stick it certainly qualifies yet the construction and quality is everything you would expect form cigars costing 3 times as much!
