Customer Reviews of “Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro”
Hey All. It's the noob again. I just had one of these (R&J Reserve Maduro). It was the last smoke of our '08 deployment. I can't think of a better way to cap off this cruise. The burn, draw and ash were all frist class. The flavor - it started out mellow and sweet and picked up some spice and pepper on the back end. A nice mellow, consistent smoke, but not at all 'wimpy'. A definite box purchase! Thanks CI!

Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro #4 for me. I really like the spicyness and the rich, bold flavor. I have burnt my fingertips more than once and will again I am sure. And to get 20 in tins for that price... practically a steal. I need a bigger humidor so I can stock up while the prices are what they are. This is one terrific line of cigars. It's like dessert, can't wait to get through the day to enjoy sitting back and drawing on a delish RyJ Rsrv Mad. #4. Superb... absolutely superb!!

The #4 (Romeo Julieta Reserve Maduro) is possibly THE cigar someone wanting to try Maduro for the first time should buy. The #4 is no more than Medium in strength but that's perfectly fine. One of the nicest aspects of the #4 is the Maduro and other tastes are beautifully balanced so the Maduro is presented as it should be and the resulting overall taste is hearty without being stringent or overpowering. Smoke volume, construction and mechanics of the #4 have, for me, always been consistantly good, too, so the R&J #4 is seldom a stranger at my home. It's definitely one I would put on a "Must Try" list.

I have had both the Cuban and Dominican version of this smoke (Romeo Julieta Reserve Maduro) and I can tell you this... Don't waste your time with anything else. This is one fine cigar. Its a bit more full bodied from Cuba but the Dominican is well indeed. I have a few in the humidor all the time and it's always nice to pull one out from time to time and enjoy.

R&J is just one of those labels that is just quintessential. It is cigar, truly one of the best branded labels in the game. The don't over fancy themselves they just deliver the goods. The Reserva Maduro is one of my cabinet sticks, it is rich, dark... oily, zesty... with a pop! Awfully fragrant for a cigar [of course it could have been the weather the day I had one last] but if filled the air with this awesome aroma. It had a kinda rosy, chompiness to it but was still a gentlemen's cigar at the end of the day. I'd avoid the High Rollers table with it, but.. I'd hit the $20 blackjack corner in style. My rate, this stick: 88

Excellent Cigar (Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro), slight taste of pepper with hints of nuts. I've personnaly had some draw issues it could be me. Certainly One to try

Maduro, and smooth. What can I say, I lit one of these up, and didn't have time to finish it, had to go before I finished it, and I kept the last 2" of it to smoke later. With an average cigar I would have said, oh well and tossed it. This cigar is more like a medium to full flavor smoke, but it's smooth and complex. Recommend it. !

Well, everybody's taste is different. To me, these things are a bit harsh. I say that having compared them to the likes of MAXX, Padron and some others. Don't get me wrong, they are okay. I am just suggesting that there are better out there for the money. I understand that the name on these carries a lot of weight with people.

I am a noob, but here is my take. I finally gave the maduro reserve a try after reading great reviews and countless hours mouth watering over the photos. It had a pleasantly smooth smoke and only got better towards the end. I noticed toward then end of my smoke that the tobacco oils began to really heat up and start to ooze out. I couldn't have been more pleased. However, this is not the "medium" strength cigar as this site suggests. It is a full flavored cigar and the CI catalog confirms this. Be aware of the discrepancy when ordering this tasty little guy. Be prepared for a full bodied smoke....

I had read from a CI staff review on another cigar (the Viejo) that this Reserve Maduro "smells and tastes like feet". Challenge accepted, and I reached into my humidor for a robusto with a few months of age on it. While it certainly smells like feet on the pre-light (no better way to describe it!), this cigar is just plain outstanding, especially for someone who is still honing their palate. I paired with a New Belgium Snapshot wheat. Some sweet spice, bold, earthy flavors, a perfect burn, and a truly enjoyable smoke are what you can expect out of this stick. I literally burned my fingers as I smoked this one down to the last half-inch, it was that friggin' good. Extinguishing this nub was like saying a sorrowful goodbye to a dear friend. CI staff, do this cigar some justice with a full, honest review!

Normally I love these, don't know if this was a bad box, a new roller or what, but I only had about 3 out of the entire box that I considered as the normal quality of R&J!
