La Duena

La Duena - translation: the owner or boss.

The Garcia family knows cigar making like the back of their hand. First on the scene was Don Pepin, followed by his son Jaime, and now dipping her toe in the water is Janny, Don Pepin’s daughter. Blended by Pete Johnson a close family friend, La Duena is built to cater to Janny's appetite for medium-bodied full-flavored cigars. Crafted in the renowned My Father factory in Nicaragua, this impressive offering hits the nail on the head. Exceedingly rich and flavorful, this handmade manages to achieve a glorious array of flavors without ever growing beyond medium-bodied. Thanks to the dark and toothy Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper, and a supporting core of Connecticut Broadleaf and Nicaraguan long-fillers, this ensemble performs like a dream. Smooth refined notes of cocoa, coffee, earth, and gentle spices mingle before a naturally sweet finish. Complex, smooth, and lip-smacking from start to finish, La Duena is well-worth your time.

Customer Reviews of “La Duena”
Had the robusto tonight. Up front I detected gentle spice, lots of fruit, cream and some mild coffee notes. Med-full flavor, but never breaking the medium body barrier. My only complaint was that the draw was a bit tight, but overall a very very smooth stick. Never bitter, harsh or overwhelming.

Great Stick! Hints of spice as the review above (or below lol) mentions. Also mine (8 or so that I have smoked from various spots) have never been harsh. I actually never had one that had a bad or tight draw. Highly recommend.

I bought the robusto a few weeks back on my way home from work, having had a few extra dollars and a few hours on my hand to kill, i stopped at the local lounge and decided this was something i had wanted to try, so i decided to go for it. Sweet jesus, I am glad I did. simply put, this is the best cigar i have ever had. Off the light I was a bit skeptical because of the peppery notes coming off the front end, but after about 2 draws those notes cleaned out and turned into a light hint of pepper and leather, the flavor stayed pretty consistent throughout the entire cigar, picking up a little bit of spice on the back half. The finish was very clean and also added a slight note of earthy flavor. This cigar reaffirmed my opinion that the best cigars on the planet are coming from the Pepin, with this creation taking center stage. Do not be surprised when this shows up in cigar of the year talks from various cigar related publications.

I love Pepin's line of cigars but La Duena smokes like lower end Rocky Patel. It's mild all the way. Aroma is good but no pepper at all. IMHO, this a bargain cigar with a little touch of Coffee. Ladies may enjoy this. I would pass on this one and stick with fathers line.

Smooth, clean, great smoke, mellow and relaxing. I really enjoy this cigar when I am not in the mood for something spicy.

Don Pepin should be proud of Jenny, this cigar is great from foot to nub. I smoked the robusto and the ash held on for 3/4 of the cigar, the construction, flavor, draw everything was perfect. The My Father factory has been putting out some great cigars. They should be proud.
