Gurkha Red Witch

One sexy....witch.

Red Witch is the newest everyday premium cigar from K. Hansotia of Gurkha, and boy does it look good. Named after the famous East India Trading Company ship, this lovely handmade is gorgeous from head to toe. Carefully crafted in Nicaragua, this box-pressed creature packs 3-year aged Nicaraguan long-fillers, from the super-fertile region of Jalapa, into a Dominican binder. Then, tying the ensemble together is a seamless Ecuadorian Rosado wrapper. From first light, sweet nuances take the reigns as notes of spice, earth, and coffee also enter the fray. Medium to full in body and exceptionally well-balanced, this handmade takes you on one memorable voyage. Plus, they're reasonably priced too. All courtesy of K. Hansotia.

Customer Reviews of “Gurkha Red Witch”
Lit this little box-pressed beauty up this evening over a couple of good beers, good friends, and good conversation. Too bad I couldn't say the same for this stick. Like most of the Gurkha's I've smoked in the past, the Red Witch lit well, had a nice draw, beautiful billows of smoke, but didn't have much taste. The review above mentions notes of spice, earth and coffee, but unfortunately, as much as I wanted those to be present from the toast on, there wasn't a single spot in the stick that came close to those specific tones. The only way this stick could fit those profiles for me, was on the retrohales, (which I only took three or four of throughout the entire stick) which ended in an overabundance of spice, and a nice kick. I wasn't overly enthused with this particular stick, and like every past Gurkha experience, it falls short of the critical aclaim attached to it. Definitely not a cigar I'd smoke anytime soon, let alone keep in steady rotation in my humidor.

Good cigar. Medium to full with good draw and burn. Earth and pepper taste with draw. Worth buying.

Gosh, I do not know what the first guy is talking about. I was watching my son's baseball game this summer and lit up my first Red Witch and was blown away with the smooth draw, the outstanding flavor and of course the pressed shape (which I am partial to). LOVE this cigar!

I picked one of these gems up on an impulse at my local shop. I gotta say this is a delightful smoke. Lots of earth and pepper with a hint of black coffee, but not too strong. Love it!

This was a gift from a friend some time back. It got buried in the humidor and I ran across it this past weekend, so I decided to save the VSG I was going to smoke and fired this baby up instead. Wow! Great flavors just poured out of this stick. Great burn from start to finish. I keep a running list of my favorites and I added this one for future buys.

This cigar was loosely packed, and I agree... it didn't have much flavor. No, it is not expensive, but I know better cigars for half the price. I don't think it will ever have a "plugged" problem, though.

I've enjoyed the Beast, Evil, and Ninja, and couldn't wait to try the Red Witch - which unfortunately was very disappointing to me. I don't know if I got a 'bad' one or not, but the thing made me sick; my head was spinning, and I felt like I was going to puke, and I only finished half of it. Uff-da! I bought a five pack, so will let the others humi for awhile and then give it another chance, but I'm wondering why this one affected me so adversely. Ideas, anyone??

Well made as any Gurkha. Little too peppery for my taste. You will know you smoked this one. Would be great smoke for a night of drinking with the guys. Strong flavor and a true cigar smokers stick.

An enjoyable cigar. The draw was loose from the get go, but it never hindered my enjoyment. It had very a very good consistent taste and burn throughout. I would definitely buy it again!

This cigar took me on a trip I hadn't had since 1998 ( that's when I had the best Cohiba ever ) each moment was better than the last, creamy bellows of smoke, great draw, great construction, best roll, nice ash, lights great. This is my top choice, big fan of box pressed cigars. So hard waiting for the next one.
