Drew Estate MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured

Generally speaking, the offerings in the Drew Estate portfolio are pretty unique. That has a lot to do with why the brand is so damn popular to begin with. But now this latest line extension to MUWAT has taken things to a whole new level, taste-wise. This phrase gets thrown around a lot, but this time it couldn’t be more accurate – you’ve never tasted anything like this before.

The biggest difference with Kentucky Fire-Cured is the inclusion of – you guessed it! – American fire-cured tobacco leaves from Kentucky and Virginia. While normally tobacco is air-cured, these special leaves are left to hang in specially-constructed curing barns, a process that dates back more than 200 years and that imbues each leaf with a rich, smoky, slightly sweet flavor that boasts exceptional balance and uniqueness. Notes of oak, hickory, and maple-laced sweetness explode on the palate. These leaves are joined by Nicaraguan and Brazilian Mata Fina long-fillers along with an oily San Andres maduro wrapper. This finished product is like nothing else on the market. Been looking for a totally uncommon taste experience that’ll blow your hair back? You just found it.

Want something really special? The Kentucky Fire Cured Swamp Rat and Swamp Thang from Drew Estate offer a half-Candela experience for another fantastic addition to the DE profile. Learn more here.

Great short bbq smoke
Small in size means nothing when it comes to a KFCC, consistant flavor and easy draw

BBQ treat
Starts out like chewing on a rib bone just out of the smoker. Mellows into a very spicy but enjoyable smoke. Great for a dog walk.

Something I wanted to try
Wanted to try these for a while. Got them on MMAO at a really good price. Smoked one and was really surprise at the smoky flavor in the. I love to smoke meat in my smoker but never thought about that flavor in a cigar. This cigar is in smoked just right with what taste like maple to me without the sweetness. You can taste the smoky ness of it on every draw. It’s a medium full cigar. I’ll be buying more.

These are well built, flavorful sticks. They are my go-to outdoor smokes with flavors that remind me of campfires, mountains and the great outdoors!

Always a great choice for a quick break or around the camp fire.

Great everyday smoke !
Smooth light and even burn, nice barbecue taste with clean finish . Pairs well with most domestic beers and great with dry chardonnay style wine. Always keep a half dozen or so in the humidor!

Delicious cigar
This last batch I ordered (4 bundles of the chunky) seem to have had a little bit of age on them. All the cellos thus far have been a little yellow which makes for a really enjoyable KFC!

Smokes better than it smells
I wasn’t sure what I was going to get based on the smell of the cigar but I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s a very good smoke. It has a smooth draw that stays full and cool to the end. Problem is, you can’t have just one- good thing they come in packs. Excellent cigar I will but again.

Unique smoke!
I love camping and campfires. This smoke reminds me fo that. It’s not for everyone I suspect, but it is for me. Easy light, medium draw, full smoke, stiff ash. And the flavor is as you would suspect, woodsy.

A good change from the usual smoke
The KFC smell is incredible, although my wife claims it smells like a barn. Wish the flavor stuck through a little more with the smoke. Regardless will keep these stocked in humidor.

Definitely Turned My Head
This cigar was a nice surprise, great flavor, the smell and smoke of this cigar is rich but smoky cigar that pairs really well with a nice grilled steak or chicken and a nice bourbon sitting on your patio. Can't say enough about this cigar.

Different in such a good way.
These definitely aren’t for everyone. For me the smells and flavors are on point and this little guy burns nice and slow so even a short stick can last awhile to savor it. Drew Estates has my undying devotion thanks to winners like this.

One of the best cigars I have tried so far,I it will easily give the more expensive cigars a run for their money.

Good smoke especially on the back end.
Great smoke. Strong smokey smell out of the plastic and strong on the front 3rd but it really mellows out to a consistent and medium flavor. Burned well to the nub. Definitely will but again.

Love this Cigar
These cigars are a fine addition to any humidor. A great medium to full body flavor with a good smooth draw. The flavor on intensifies and improves as the cigar is smoked. Highly recommend to those that enjoy a full bodied cigar.

Always a winner
Thought I would get smaller size to smoke less cigsrs, not, can't get enough of these great smokes

Bold, smokey mini-cigar, but like a campfire
I was looking for something bold and smaller when I don't have a hour but not a 5 min smoke either. Perfect size I was looking for. Very bold flavor. However, my issue is that it is a bit too wood-fire flavored. I come away feeling like I was huffing a campfire.

Love the campfire memories.
A very unique smoke. I love camping and the aroma reminds me of the campfire. So for me, this cigar is a go-to. I prefer the smaller cigars so again the Chucky 4x46 is a preferred size. It lights easily with a medium draw with makes for a stiffer ash that does not fall onto my shirt. The smoke is usually medium rich. Although I prefer the thicker smoke, this one is okay but not great. That is the only reason I give it a 4 star, not 5.

Hints of Hardwood Fire
Beautiful cigar. Accurately described. May want to store them in an acrylic jar separate from your other sticks. The hardwood fire notes in the aroma and flavor profile are quite noticeable, yet not overpowering. If you like smoked meats and cheeses, Russian caravan tea, etc. — you’ll love these.
4 out of 5
Amazing Flavor!
Unique, amazing flavor. You'll love it or loathe it. I love it! the only drawback is that it is too short. I smoke one and immediately spark up another. They are that good.

What can i say. DE never disappoints. The KFC is always consistent in its delivery.

A very enjoyable dog walker...
I'm very fond of these little smokes. I've never smoked something with such a small ring gauge before, but these are enjoyable and rich smokes. Plenty of smoke, lots of flavor, consistent burn. They look a bit rough, but don't be fooled. In my experience, the smaller gauges of this line have the more distinct "smokey" flavor; the large ring sizes taste more conventional. Enjoy!

Good Smoke
I have enjoyed all of Drew Estates cigars, thought I would give these a try. Initial flavor is strong / Smokey but blends in to the flavor once lit. Have enjoyed these so far and others who have smoked. Good Smoke!

Kentucky Fire Cured
My brother-in-law gave one of these cigars to my husband recently and my husband really enjoyed it, saying the aroma reminded him of sitting around a bonfire at his grandmother's home in Kentucky many years ago, and he really enjoyed the flavor and asked me to order some for him the next time I saw them on sale...so I did and he is one happy camper!!!

Fire cured me!
The muwat firecured toro is a power house from the start. After the initial burn, the stick smooths to a strong satisfyingly pleasant experience. Do not rush the experience. Allow a good hour and a half to fully enjoy this smoke.

Kentucky Fire Cured Kyoto's...tasty smaller cigar!
As a fan of the KFC Chunky, I decided to try these as the price was right, and I like to have some smaller cigars in my arsenal. I was pleasantly surprised, as the size is perfect...not too small just right! Can't go wrong!

Kentucky Fire Cured
My husband loves the aroma and flavor of these little cigars. He said the aroma and flavor of them remind him of visiting his grandparents in Kentucky and the smell of the bonfire they used to gather around when he visited, plus he said the size if perfect when he just wants to enjoy a quick smoke. I will buy them again for him.

Fat Molly is a doll!
DAMN! Smells like burning hickory wood, very rich! Used a hole punch. Pre-draw has slight taste of bacon. Smell and taste makes you think of a country breakfast. A bit of a bite at first couple draws, then it mellowed out going towards the middle. Good finish at end. This is a top shelf smoke!

Great KFC flavor for when you don't have lots of time for a cigar.
Great Kentucky Fire Cured flavor for when you don't have lots of time for a cigar. I like the Drew Estate KFCs, they remind me (in a good way) of the smoky creosote smell you get walking along a railroad track in the summertime.

Tastes like kerosene.
Very disappointed in this cigar. To think I couldn’t sleep at night cos I couldn’t wait to lay my hands on one and the it finally arrived only to taste like kerosene. Save your money. This one is one empty hype.

Perfect cigar for pipe smokers
If you enjoy English pipe tobacco this is your cigar! Smoky, and lightly sweet. I especially enjoy the size of this one, since a 5" is often too long of a smoke for someone who usually smokes a pipe

Very unique taste
Ive always wanted to try these so when they came on sale i jumped at the chance!..i really like them, they're smokey...sort of a "camp fire" taste...i would buy them again, they're just a little outside my budget, but well worth the price!...excellent smoke!!

Lot of smoke for a small cigar, easy draw, the"hickory smoke flavor" a little overdone. What I didn't like was not being able to smoke passed the cigar band'after removing it because of the rigid tobacco from there up.I purchased the perfecdraw and use it when the cigar gets short.Feels like I'm wasting a lot of my cigar!

Great for a one hr smoke
solid cigar, burns like a champ, its nub size last about one hour, un-lit this cigar does smell wood smoked but you can hardly taste it when lit. Nice and tasty, no pepper, creamy wood smoke is how I would put it but again the smoke does not hit you like a brick.

This cigar is different from many other types I have smoked in that it has oak and maple flavors. If you like the flavor of a good cigar with the added bonus of a wood-smoked flavor, you'll love it, like I did. I keep getting more of these.

Just Not for Me
I just didn’t like them. I used to be a wildland firefighter. My humidor smelled like my Nomex at the end of a day (or night) on the fire-line. I ended up just throwing them away because I take the cellophane off my cigars and CI couldn’t take them back.

Not good..
I was eager to try these and got a 10 pack a few weeks back that were on sale, despite the great ratings these have on here, they weren't good to me at all. They tasted and smelled like they were smoked alright, a burning electric motor burning smell smoke, that is. I still have some in my humidor and even though it's been a few weeks, they still have that unpleasant burnt smell and taste. I will not buy these again. I am kinda baffled they have gotten so many good reviews.

When I first recieved KY fired cured I loved the campfire smells it gave. I loved the flavor when I smoked it. It has been said that not everyone likes this stock but it is worth trying and if you love the smell of a campfire I believe you would like this cigar.

Kyotos are an enjoyable mixed bag
I bought these on sale and I wasn't disappointed with what I got. The flavor ranges from sniffing in the smoke of some baby back ribs to a barn/petting zoo. Missing being on a farm I don't mind that sort of taste but as with when I told my brother about it, midsmoke, he couldn't get it out of his head. They make a pleasant smoke after a meaty meal, be it BBQ, steak, or some other. While they're not an everyday smoke, for me, they're a nice change of pace and they last far longer than any other cigarillo sized cigar I've tried. Even separated from my other cigars in the humidor, however, they're scent tends to soak into whatever I have in there. If I could give them 4.5 stars I surely would!

I wish I would have bought more when they were on sale. These are full flavored yet mellow and smooth. Outstanding!

Home sweet smoke
Could the Kentucky in me but I really like em. They smell of the late nights out in a field next to a bon fire and a drink! Ok we still do that but they fir right in. I'm always asked what I'm smoking. The down is an uneven burn towards the end. But whatever.

Incredible!
These little guys are delicious! As most people have stated, they smell like a campfire, this tantalizing smell instantly gets the mouth watering with anticipation. The "Chunky" size is perfect for a quick 30-45 minute smoke without ruining the flavor. Provides a nice and tasty smoke that coats the palate. I definitely recommend these bad boys! It's Drew Estate, you can't go wrong!

Robust!
I bought a bundle of Chunkys after trying a single stick from a local shop. They are strong and robust, but before and after lighting them up. Even with their small size, they are a worthy smoke. It is not a cigar for everyone - but I am glad I have them in my collection.

I'll stick to hickory smoked bar-b-que........
Bought these on a BOGO special. The Kyotos are a well made small size cigar. Nice aroma, out of the pack. On the downside, the flavor is of burnt wood and a few of the cigars turned bitter and unpleasant as the smoke progressed. Didn't "knock it out of the park" for me.

Awesome change of pace smoke
This little creative nugget of camp fire greatness is a fine change of pace cigar. Well crafted, and tasty.
4 out of 5
Good shipping but no humidty control
The cigars shipped relatively fast and the packaging was adequate but I can't give it 5 stars because they ship everything without any humidity control like a Boveda. I'm at an address that takes close to 10 days for them to arrive, not the 2-3 days like CONUS mail.

Tasty Little Sticks!
I bought this bundle (Kyotos) after I enjoyed a single stick from my local smoke shop. If you have smoked a pipe and like the smokey/Tangy taste of Dark Fired Kentucky tobacco leaf or wanna try something not often seen in Cigars I highly recommend these. They are very well constructed (by Drew Estate) and at a very affordable price as well. A unique flavor you won't find with any other cigars!

These cigars definitely take you in a different direction. They remind me of smoked bacon. They go well with a bourbon. My only complaints: 1. They are expensive when not on sale, 2. This batch had s very hard draw.

Interesting taste
Decent smoke. Draw and packing was good but I don’t know that I really prefer the fire smoked flavor. Taste a bit like your clothes smell after a bonfire. Good for an occasional smoke but not really for a regular kind of thing.

Great Quick Option!
Great little cigar. I would not call these cigarillos, as those in my mind are cigarette size. The fire cured wrapper is definitely potent. I kept these in a jar for 48 hours with humidifier packs before smoking my first and the whole jar smelled very strongly. Not a bad thing, but keep in mind if you plan to stock near other cigars as they might transfer the flavor. 100% gives you that campfire aroma. I found mine to be an easy draw and very well rolled. No issues, even burn, etc. Took about 25 minutes to smoke.

Kentucky Fire Cured Chunky
This is the one cigar I crave on a regular basis. I don't always have the time for a Fat Molly but this will definitely cure my craving. Very well constructed for a longer burn than most its size. It mentally takes me to the woods around a hearty campfire........don't forget to bring the bourbon.

An enjoyable twist to cigar smoking!!
I was reluctant to buy these smoke cured cigars thinking it was just a marketing gimmick on bad tobacco, but I think they are great! The smokiness is akin to a hickory flavored meat, but you experience that only in the wrapper. Inside is great tobacco which provides a terrific and consistent smoke all the way through.

Rich rewarding smoke
These are a great size for that shorter winter smoke. These draw very well and produce lots of rich smoke. The flavor is a little different than your typical cigar, and has a unique unlit smell, but really shines when you light it up.

Definitely Original
I'm not a huge fan of flavored cigars. These were very different from the start. Definitely could smell and taste the "burnt leaves" with just a small hint of mesquite or barbecue. The first one was rather a disappointment from the description, as I had envisioned tons of barbecue and salty meat type flavoring. Hats off to the writer for sure. These cigars were small and compared to others they had an odd smell and tasted funny. However, I never give up at one. By the fourth cigar they had begun to grow on me. I found myself craving that smell and flavor, and the size made them just perfect for an after lunch cigar. The description writer was indeed right with the description, it just takes a few of these to fully appreciate them.

KFC chunky
This cigar is something totally different than anything I’ve had. That smoky smell you get when it comes out the wrapper is exquisite. Very pungent, almost like somebody is smoking some meats without the meat smell. Very enjoyable, smokes well and the flavor from the fire cured tobacco is like no other flavors I’ve had in any other smoke. Definitely would buy more.

Excellent smoky, old time tobacco flavor
First time I smelled one of these it reminded me of smelling fire cured tobacco hanging in drying barns all over Kentucky. Nice smoky, naturally sweet taste, nice draw, just a touch of being rough around the edges. Another high quality Drew Estates stick. Will definitely be getting more.

My cigar and pipe fix simultaneously
I’m an avid pipe smoker as well as loving a good cigar. These little beauties are an amazing marriage between the two forms of tobacco. What a wonderful surprise that these taste so great without departing totally from being a cigar. Still a great stogie in the classic sense but there’s a nice smoky sweetness from the Kentucky Fire Cured tobaccos that really changes things up. Way different from the average cigar flavor and I love it. These are just excellent, really excellent.

Good though not an "easy" smoke
I chanced upon this at a cigar lounge. First fire cured I've had and I enjoyed it. Only two demerits. First, it was hard to get a good draw when I first lit it, took maybe 1/5th of the cigar to get a consistently good draw. Second, I needed to touch it up multiple times when smoking it. I was surprised because people said it needed very little maintenance. Still, it was manageable, and worth the hassle given the taste. Recommend.

One of my all-time favorites
I discovered these a while back, purchasing one from a brick and mortar cigar shop near to where I live. I have to say these are hands down the most distinctive cigars I’ve come across in the 20 years I’ve been smoking. What makes it unique is that the tobacco is fire cured rather than air cured. From the get-go, removing the cellophane, the hickory scent of the wrapper is unique. The construction is solid, and the label is rugged looking, simple without drawing attention to itself and away from the stick. And after lighting, the aroma is divine. And the flavor: foresty, nutty, and peppery. It burns evenly, never requires a touchup or a relight. Not a lot of complexity, or changes, as it burns down, but I can forgive it for that because it doesn’t turn hot or bitter near the finish. All in all, a great smoke if a little pricey, one of my all-time favorites.

J. DREW A TRUE MASTER OF THE BLEND
The DREW ESTATE MUWAT KENTUCKY FIRE CURED FAT MOLLY is my favorite cigar. I met J. Drew at an event when he first introduced this cigar and immediately I knew this cigar was special. This cigar has a pleasant taste of fire wood with all of the flavor that only J. Drew can blend. The pleasant smell is as if you were sitting at a camp fire burning the most pleasant aromatic woods you could find. Thank You J. Drew for a true MASTERPIECE.

Worth a try!
Great flavor. The hickory and coffee notes seem made for a cold fall evening. Slow burner, a full cut was much better than a punch as they draw slightly tight. Great flavors and solid medium body. Not a gimmick, a true flavorful stick!
