Drew Estate MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured

Generally speaking, the offerings in the Drew Estate portfolio are pretty unique. That has a lot to do with why the brand is so damn popular to begin with. But now this latest line extension to MUWAT has taken things to a whole new level, taste-wise. This phrase gets thrown around a lot, but this time it couldn’t be more accurate – you’ve never tasted anything like this before.

The biggest difference with Kentucky Fire-Cured is the inclusion of – you guessed it! – American fire-cured tobacco leaves from Kentucky and Virginia. While normally tobacco is air-cured, these special leaves are left to hang in specially-constructed curing barns, a process that dates back more than 200 years and that imbues each leaf with a rich, smoky, slightly sweet flavor that boasts exceptional balance and uniqueness. Notes of oak, hickory, and maple-laced sweetness explode on the palate. These leaves are joined by Nicaraguan and Brazilian Mata Fina long-fillers along with an oily San Andres maduro wrapper. This finished product is like nothing else on the market. Been looking for a totally uncommon taste experience that’ll blow your hair back? You just found it.

Want something really special? The Kentucky Fire Cured Swamp Rat and Swamp Thang from Drew Estate offer a half-Candela experience for another fantastic addition to the DE profile. Learn more here.

Great bundle for grilling season
This cigar is great now for grilling season. Where its smoke blends nicely with everything coming off the grill. You should always have a few in your humidor.

Hamhock
Drew estates outdid themselves again. From the very start this smoke is bursting with flavor. The smokey overtones of a barbecue and the earthly undertones make this stick a true pleasurable enjoyment.

What a noce SMOKE!
Was a little concerned that it would be too smoky when opening it, but man what a cigar, a little disappointed the smoky taste diminished but all in all very impressed! Buying them again!

Excellent shorty that isn't overpowering
I just smoked one last night and I was impressed with the hearty flavor without the burn common with infused tobacco.

Great cigar
When I first recieved KY fired cured I loved the campfire smells it gave. I loved the flavor when I smoked it. It has been said that not everyone likes this stock but it is worth trying and if you love the smell of a campfire I believe you would like this cigar.

I love this cigar. I have bought these several times. Have had some that had a different flavor. I usually keep some of these in the humidor. I have had more good than bad. This is a very different cigar.

Kyotos are an enjoyable mixed bag
I bought these on sale and I wasn't disappointed with what I got. The flavor ranges from sniffing in the smoke of some baby back ribs to a barn/petting zoo. Missing being on a farm I don't mind that sort of taste but as with when I told my brother about it, midsmoke, he couldn't get it out of his head. They make a pleasant smoke after a meaty meal, be it BBQ, steak, or some other. While they're not an everyday smoke, for me, they're a nice change of pace and they last far longer than any other cigarillo sized cigar I've tried. Even separated from my other cigars in the humidor, however, they're scent tends to soak into whatever I have in there. If I could give them 4.5 stars I surely would!

Full Flavored mellowness
I wish I would have bought more when they were on sale. These are full flavored yet mellow and smooth. Outstanding!

Home sweet smoke
Could the Kentucky in me but I really like em. They smell of the late nights out in a field next to a bon fire and a drink! Ok we still do that but they fir right in. I'm always asked what I'm smoking. The down is an uneven burn towards the end. But whatever.

Good burn but not big on the taste. Too earthy for me!

Incredible!
These little guys are delicious! As most people have stated, they smell like a campfire, this tantalizing smell instantly gets the mouth watering with anticipation. The "Chunky" size is perfect for a quick 30-45 minute smoke without ruining the flavor. Provides a nice and tasty smoke that coats the palate. I definitely recommend these bad boys! It's Drew Estate, you can't go wrong!

Strange little Smoke...
Smells strongly like BBQ lighter fluid, but does not taste like it, actually a well constructed, even burning, tasty short smoke, not unlike a thousand other well constructed , even burning short smokes that don't give you a headache when you smell them

Murat Kentucky fire cured
Right out of the humidor it smells and tastes of to much smoke. If you let it sit out of the humidor for a couple of hours it tastes pretty good with very little smoke smell

Robust!
I bought a bundle of Chunkys after trying a single stick from a local shop. They are strong and robust, but before and after lighting them up. Even with their small size, they are a worthy smoke. It is not a cigar for everyone - but I am glad I have them in my collection.

Unique flavor that takes me back...
These KFC have a unique flavor all their own...like my grandpa's smokehouse hanging full of hams soaking in the hickory. Glad I tried them and hard to stop smoking them!!

This is an outstanding cigar. The flavor is distinct and strong, but it still smooth. I love the smoky aroma that it gives off, before and after you light it.

I'll stick to hickory smoked bar-b-que........
Bought these on a BOGO special. The Kyotos are a well made small size cigar. Nice aroma, out of the pack. On the downside, the flavor is of burnt wood and a few of the cigars turned bitter and unpleasant as the smoke progressed. Didn't "knock it out of the park" for me.

Awesome change of pace smoke
This little creative nugget of camp fire greatness is a fine change of pace cigar. Well crafted, and tasty.
4 out of 5
Good shipping but no humidty control
The cigars shipped relatively fast and the packaging was adequate but I can't give it 5 stars because they ship everything without any humidity control like a Boveda. I'm at an address that takes close to 10 days for them to arrive, not the 2-3 days like CONUS mail.

Tasty Little Sticks!
I bought this bundle (Kyotos) after I enjoyed a single stick from my local smoke shop. If you have smoked a pipe and like the smokey/Tangy taste of Dark Fired Kentucky tobacco leaf or wanna try something not often seen in Cigars I highly recommend these. They are very well constructed (by Drew Estate) and at a very affordable price as well. A unique flavor you won't find with any other cigars!

Unique
Long time customer. Also have smoked many different brands. First after seasoning, used a punch to open for smoking, not originaly impressed. Sensed there was something there. Next time fully opened with cut. This is a very Unique cigar. I liked it!! Looking forward to my next session. Thanks Again CI

Tasty Fire cured smokes
I’m not a big fan of the KFC cigars. However, the Kyotos size is perfect for getting the hickory taste without being overwhelming. Plus, the Kyotos are really affordable.

Interestingly good
This is a great smoke for the price range. It’s not one for the cigar snobs, but the flavor and smell are interestingly good. If your in the mood for a quick smoke (30 minutes) and want to try something different, I highly recommend.

Well constructed but if you're looking for the typical Drew Estate sweetness and aroma it's not here. These have a unique flavor that I've not experienced in any other cigar. Strange, but in a good way!

A change of pace
These cigars definitely take you in a different direction. They remind me of smoked bacon. They go well with a bourbon. My only complaints: 1. They are expensive when not on sale, 2. This batch had s very hard draw.

Whenever I'm around a KFC Cigar I can't help but think about aBbq. THE FIRE CURRED tobacco used to create this great smoking experience. Is like smoking a pork shoulder and a cigar ar the same time

Interesting taste
Decent smoke. Draw and packing was good but I don’t know that I really prefer the fire smoked flavor. Taste a bit like your clothes smell after a bonfire. Good for an occasional smoke but not really for a regular kind of thing.

Great Quick Option!
Great little cigar. I would not call these cigarillos, as those in my mind are cigarette size. The fire cured wrapper is definitely potent. I kept these in a jar for 48 hours with humidifier packs before smoking my first and the whole jar smelled very strongly. Not a bad thing, but keep in mind if you plan to stock near other cigars as they might transfer the flavor. 100% gives you that campfire aroma. I found mine to be an easy draw and very well rolled. No issues, even burn, etc. Took about 25 minutes to smoke.

CAN'T BE OVERLOOKED!!
My 1st time smoking this. I have to say it's not a bad smoke. The hickory flavor jumps out at me. I also like the fact that it burns evenly. Not one of my favorites, but definitely not my worst. I'll happily smoke again.

Short and sweet
This stick is exactly what you would expect from Drew Estate. Smooth draw, excellent burn and burn time. This is a great ‘gar for a lunch time or a walk around with the kids or pups. Will definitely have to keep these stocked in my humidor. Short and sweet!
5 out of 5
Rich rewarding smoke
These are a great size for that shorter winter smoke. These draw very well and produce lots of rich smoke. The flavor is a little different than your typical cigar, and has a unique unlit smell, but really shines when you light it up.

Definitely Original
I'm not a huge fan of flavored cigars. These were very different from the start. Definitely could smell and taste the "burnt leaves" with just a small hint of mesquite or barbecue. The first one was rather a disappointment from the description, as I had envisioned tons of barbecue and salty meat type flavoring. Hats off to the writer for sure. These cigars were small and compared to others they had an odd smell and tasted funny. However, I never give up at one. By the fourth cigar they had begun to grow on me. I found myself craving that smell and flavor, and the size made them just perfect for an after lunch cigar. The description writer was indeed right with the description, it just takes a few of these to fully appreciate them.

Somewhat over priced but a good cigar none the less. Nice burn and full smoke. Rolled nicely and a great flavor.

KFC chunky
This cigar is something totally different than anything I’ve had. That smoky smell you get when it comes out the wrapper is exquisite. Very pungent, almost like somebody is smoking some meats without the meat smell. Very enjoyable, smokes well and the flavor from the fire cured tobacco is like no other flavors I’ve had in any other smoke. Definitely would buy more.

Excellent smoky, old time tobacco flavor
First time I smelled one of these it reminded me of smelling fire cured tobacco hanging in drying barns all over Kentucky. Nice smoky, naturally sweet taste, nice draw, just a touch of being rough around the edges. Another high quality Drew Estates stick. Will definitely be getting more.

My cigar and pipe fix simultaneously
I’m an avid pipe smoker as well as loving a good cigar. These little beauties are an amazing marriage between the two forms of tobacco. What a wonderful surprise that these taste so great without departing totally from being a cigar. Still a great stogie in the classic sense but there’s a nice smoky sweetness from the Kentucky Fire Cured tobaccos that really changes things up. Way different from the average cigar flavor and I love it. These are just excellent, really excellent.

Good though not an "easy" smoke
I chanced upon this at a cigar lounge. First fire cured I've had and I enjoyed it. Only two demerits. First, it was hard to get a good draw when I first lit it, took maybe 1/5th of the cigar to get a consistently good draw. Second, I needed to touch it up multiple times when smoking it. I was surprised because people said it needed very little maintenance. Still, it was manageable, and worth the hassle given the taste. Recommend.

A wonderful smoky smoke!
Now one of my favorites, this cigar line is a great finish to a steak dinner. If you are a wino, try it with a glass of Pinot Noir.

One of my all-time favorites
I discovered these a while back, purchasing one from a brick and mortar cigar shop near to where I live. I have to say these are hands down the most distinctive cigars I’ve come across in the 20 years I’ve been smoking. What makes it unique is that the tobacco is fire cured rather than air cured. From the get-go, removing the cellophane, the hickory scent of the wrapper is unique. The construction is solid, and the label is rugged looking, simple without drawing attention to itself and away from the stick. And after lighting, the aroma is divine. And the flavor: foresty, nutty, and peppery. It burns evenly, never requires a touchup or a relight. Not a lot of complexity, or changes, as it burns down, but I can forgive it for that because it doesn’t turn hot or bitter near the finish. All in all, a great smoke if a little pricey, one of my all-time favorites.

J. DREW A TRUE MASTER OF THE BLEND
The DREW ESTATE MUWAT KENTUCKY FIRE CURED FAT MOLLY is my favorite cigar. I met J. Drew at an event when he first introduced this cigar and immediately I knew this cigar was special. This cigar has a pleasant taste of fire wood with all of the flavor that only J. Drew can blend. The pleasant smell is as if you were sitting at a camp fire burning the most pleasant aromatic woods you could find. Thank You J. Drew for a true MASTERPIECE.

Worth a try!
Great flavor. The hickory and coffee notes seem made for a cold fall evening. Slow burner, a full cut was much better than a punch as they draw slightly tight. Great flavors and solid medium body. Not a gimmick, a true flavorful stick!

Great flavor. The hickory and coffee notes seem made for a cold fall evening. Slow burner, a full cut was much better than a pinch as they draw slightly tight. Great flavors and solid medium body. Not a gimmick, a true flavorful stick!

Drew Estate keeps raising the
Drew Estate keeps raising the bar when it comes to quality cigars. This is by far the best cigar i've smoked in a long time. I like the thickness of the wrapper with the leathery feel and smell. The tastes and aroma take me back to when men rolled thier own smokes.Earthy, woodsy, hearty tastes take over and the even burn make this my new favorite smoke.I will be buying this cigar on a monthly schedule. Thanks Drew👍🏻

Great Cigar- Kentucky Fire Cured Chunky
I find this a great tasting mellow cigar. The cigar has a slight smokey flavor, Slow burning and great taste. leaves very little after taste. I will be buying a box of these next time.

Great cigar!
Love this cigar! Full of flavor, but not harsh. Definitely has a unique taste. A friends wife said she loves the smell of these (I got her husband smoking them). Firm cigar that smokes well. No problem staying lit and burns pretty even. Everyone I have given one to loves them too.

Fired Cured is not for everyone. You literally taste the flame of a fire. Very different smoke. When you're in the mood for something different give this Drew Estate a try. You'll either love it or pass the next time. I love it.

Works for me...
First tried the (upon recommendation) Fat Molly at a cigar lounge and was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I later picked up a couple Just a Friend(s) and did not care much for the 1st one. Took the other to work with me and absent-mindedly threw it into my glove compartment. Found it today ( 6 weeks later?) and went home and fired it up. MUCH better than the other! I don't necessarily recommend using your glove box as a humidor, but, hey... It worked for ME!

Great experience
Wonderful blend - the smell of the cigar is amazing. The smoke is not too heavy and has a spicy flavor that rolls around the tongue. The cigars smoked evenly only had one out of ten that seemed too tight at one point to draw and rolling it in the fingers resolved that. great around the campfire under the stars!

Excellent cigars
I had a couple of close friends tell me about the KFC cigars so naturally I had to try them out. I found the Drew Estate MUWAT KFC flying pig and instantly became intrigued so I ordered 12 for vacation and I may I say it was an excellent purchase. At first it smells burnt and nasty, but the burn is smooth and savory, taking its time. Definitely on my list of purchases again.

Amazing
Someone posted that these cigars taste like burning leaves but let me tell you that is far from the truth. The fact is that these cigars are amazing! When you toast the foot it's instant hickory BBQ madness. The burn was even and I have no complaints other than I don't have any more of them. The taste is very unique, definetly a must have for backyard BBQ cookouts. Don't sleep on these bad boys. Definetly will be purchasing these again.

Excelent, complex cigar
" Just A Friend", is a well constructed cigar. Even burn with an excelent draw. For me it has a unique fire cured flavor, with tastes of wood smoke, nuts and coffe. Great around the camp fire at night, or inside with sip of good scotch.

Drew Estate MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured Fat Molly
This has become one of my favorite cigar finds of the last two years. Sometimes I have a hard time lighting it, not because there is a problem but because the aroma of this cigar takes me back to the Adirondack Mountains as a younger man. Campfire, bourbon and a Fat Molly, I'm all set.

When I puff on a Kentucky Fire Cured, I close my eyes and imagine myself on a front porch at a rustic log cabin overlooking a rambling stream. A peaceful serenity engulfs my soul as I enjoy my late afternoon cigar.

Alright ... call me strange, weird, or down right crazy. However, the 'Fat Molly's' remind me of the old barn yard when I smell them and when I lite them up it knocks me back a few memories, just down right delightful. Smooth yet bold, earthy tone with the right amount of spice to level your stress and feel comfortable numb. Simply wonderful!

Great Smoked Flavor
These are one of my go-to cigars and I try to always have some in my humidor. They have full rich flavor with a distinctly smoked character. I'm not always in the mood for that smoked character, but when i am, these are always terrific. Consistent construction and draw.

Strength of Character

Cigar of a different kind.
Kentucky Fire Cured to me is an exceptional cigar. It is wrapped nice and is more firm in the hand as I like. The draw was consistently even and the taste is unique. While I have had a few cigars over the years that taste like bourbon, this one actually tasted and smelled more like the charred oak barrels in which the bourbon is cured. This makes this cigar very unique and easily one of my favorites.

These are a great size and taste for camping
I have been enjoying the various MUWAT KFC sizes, but the Delfinas are a good smoke, right amount of duration for me, and just plain tasty.

My New Favorite Smoke
I have smoked the Fat Molly almost exclusively for the past few weeks and it does not disappoint. I love the smell of this stick. It has a comfortable smell, like a campfire or smoke house; absolutely like no other cigar I have smoked. The construction is perfect and the smoke time is long, but never gets hot or bitter. In my opinion, this is pretty much a perfect cigar.

Kick back and relax
First, these cigars ARE NOT for everyone. Drew Estate continues to try new things and push the cigar world in new directions. The first cigar I tried was , well different. I am not sure what it was, the heavy burnt wood taste, the fact that it smelled like a campfire?? The fact is once I tried one, I could not stop thinking about it. They became my go to "weekend kickback" cigar of choice. By all means, traditional cigar smokers will probably not enjoy these. However, if you open your mind and taste these will become the " crazy uncle" cigar of choice. Also, put on some good Blues tunes and a favorite drink of choice and you to may of found your favorite weekend cigar -

Fire-cured
The inclusion of fire-cured leaves make a world of difference in this smoke. Loved it from the moment it was lit. I wish more brands would use this method. It quickly became a new favorite in my humidor. If you're looking for a new taste, this is it.

Drew Estate Muwat; not for everyone
As a kid I remember raking leaves into a pile and burning them. After coming inside I smelled terrible from the smoke emitted from the burning maple leaves. The Muwat tastes just like I smelled. Drew Estate missed the mark on this blend! Even though there are a lot of five star ratings, this is a cigar you will either love or hate. It's not for everyone.

What can you say? It's Drew Estate!!!
HUGE Drew Estate fan. The Kentucky Fire Cured really challenges the norm. Really great smoke. Being an outdoorsman, the rugged smokey smell to this gar before lighting it is like no other. Excellent draw, even burn, and just an enjoyable smoke beginning to end. Kid at Binny's turned me on to this one and after one, I ordered a bundle from CI. A smoke well worth the bucks....thank you Drew Estate for another hit for my humidor!

Feeling Patriotic?! Smoke a HamHock!!!!
"Hickory, maple and oak are the woods that are burned at the base of the curing barns where all natural tobacco leaf is hung to dry." Amazing!!! That is what the back label of the 10 pack of Kentucky Fired Cured says. I bought a mazo of 10 of the HamHock's. Lets see what is going on. Flawless construction from foot to nub. Beautiful San Andreas maduro wrapper gives a real rustic look and feel. Beautifully placed cap. Very smooth even burn from foot to nub, no touch ups required. Flavor and aroma of a campfire and BBQ, smoky and sweet. Not complex, the thick smoke encompasses my cranium and I am feeling very patriotic. And the packaging? Simple but awesome!! A bald eagle with an American flag and holding arrows in its talons. Very Patriotic!! HamHock size gives me a good 60 minute smoke , very pleasant. While I enjoy this size, I plan on trying all the sizes in the Kentucky Fired Cured line up. A good straight forward, no-nonsense unapologetic patriotic smoke!!! This moves to the top of my rotation and a cigar I will make sure to keep on hand. Now excuse me while I go smoke a HamHock, read the Declaration of Independence, drink a good single barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and join the NRA and Cigar Rights of America!!!

Unusual - but very good!
These are probably not for everyone. They smell like you rescued them from a fire, and the wrapper has a slight taste of soot. But not in a bad way! The smoke itself is very smooth, and these pair amazingly well with bourbon. In fact, I would recommend saving them for times when you are sipping and smoking.

An unexpected treat
As usual, Cigars International has done well in supplying me with a good quality smoke. These little cigars are great. When you first open them the fire-cured aroma is unusual and unexpected, but when you light one up, it seems to be as natural as can be. The flavor was a pleasant surprise, not at all what I expected, mostly traditional with a hint of the fire curing adding to the experience. The construction was top-notch and the burn steady and even, smooth draw. I wish I could get more of these for a good price, I’d buy them. (Perfect for a 1/2 hour drive home from work in these cold days !)

Great Smoke - Reminds we of a crisp fall northern day
I truly enjoyed this cigar. It was packed full of flavor. You can smell of the cigar brought back many memory's for me of being outside on a Michigan fall day. Very rich, burns slow, and finishes strong. I pulled it out of the box and put it to my nose and I was hooked. You can smell the wood fired scent before it hits your nose. If you like a med - bold - Starts Bold and finishes medium - You will love it.

Perfume Puffers Beware!
If you like cigars flavored with coffee, infused with bourbon or something that smells like it came from my grandmother's cedar chest, you ain't gonna like these. KFC is definitely a heavy medium and more toward full bodied cigar. It is a super find if you are a fan of peaty single malts, English blended pipe tobaccos or smoked meats. There is a smokey flavor that is present from unwrapping it to the last puff. You will love it or hate it. This cigar has no doubts about its identity. Top notch in its class.

A smokey smoke!
This is a one of a kind cigar and is not for everyone. First the wrapper is dark, leathery and well constructed. Perfect draw, even burning and medium bodied. When you open it you are over taken by the smell of the hardwood cured tobacco. The curing process masks any subtle notes of the tobacco. A very curious cigar to have. This is a favorite with my evening cup of coffee. Great smokey aftertaste.

Chunky
If you have ever smoked Latakia pipe tobacco, you basically know this cigar's flavor profile. I found that the smokiness overpowers the classic cigar flavors I enjoy. It's not at all bad but it's not what I'm looking for in a cigar.

Drew Estate Kentucky Fire Cured Fat Molly-Pure Pleasure
I really don't want to pump these beauties up too much because everyone will start buying them and the price will go up. The flavor is exceptional, the body and draw remarkable and the amount of smoke produced is just about incomparable. Don't buy any, they are terrible. :o)

Crazy name for a cigar, but what a great ciga
The Fat Molley, is a full body cigar, with a very wide mixer of tastes. It's well made, burns great, and draw's well. This cigar, along with a glass of your favorite Bourbon or Whiskey, is the perfect way to end your day.

'The Barn Yard'
The Fat Molly is a perfect blend of favors and smells. Prior to ignition, Fat Molly smells like a barn yard and brings into memories of childhood dreams of growing up on a farm, then ignition, the smell of rich, dark earthly aroma back the same in taste added with some spice. Fat Molly will knock your senses into another world that others dream about. Extremely well done Jonathan & Marvin.

I love'm. Best way to describe them is either the scent of a camp fire or smoked meats.

Wonderful Surprise!
The MUWAT Was a surprise.. I just love Drew Estates and that is why I tried it if it had been another company I would not have prob tried it. Although I did I did not expect it to be to my liking, but what a surprise! It was flavorful, smooth and just a wonderful experience! GET SOME!

A novelty that's worth it.
Yes, get over your hesitation and just try it. The aroma of smoked meat and campfire...that's what you get. Flavor is smooth and rich, and the strength is def medium. Okay, it's kind of "gimmicky", but, it IS a good stick, no question.

KFC Kyotas
If you enjoy single malt scotch, you'll find these barn smoked Cigars very enjoyable. Not an overly small ring size so feels like more of a cigar than a cigarillo.

You'll never go wrong with a KFC
One of my top three favorite cigars. Smoky, spicy, fiery. Smokes and draws great.

A unique and excellent smoke
This is hands down one of my favorite cigars. They smell kind of like straight Copenhagen but the flavor is outstanding. A nice even burn with thick rich smoke. Can't wait to get more.

great unique flavor
This is an awesome stick full of flavor. A must try if you haven't smoked one.

Disppointing
This was not what I was hoping for. The smoke flavor overpowered the tobacco, similar to my dislike of Acid cigars.

Taste of Home
Love the KFC. Hickory and smoked wood flavors and aroma. Like a good old fashioned bbq, but you get to savor like a fine bourbon or scotch, rather than devour it like grilled goods... As a guy from PA living in Miami, it is my piece of home...
Customer Testimonials
Taking it out of the wrapper and the first sniff gives you a pleasant smell of some kind of smoked meat. I was a little worried because that is such a unusual scent for a cigar, but after lighting it and a few draws later, it was a great smoke. I'm a fan now!
I was holding back on ordering some of these. The reviews were making it sound like a piece of meat. I want a cigar. Well, CI had a deal that I jumped on, and I'm glad I did! This is an interesting smoke that doesn't over do it with that "camp fire" flavor that they're talking about. It's there, but it doesn't crush the great Drew Estates blend. If you want to step outside the box a little, give them a try. You just might find a new friend. :)
OH MY I paired this up with some wild turkey rare breed. This is by far the best I`ve ever smoked!! I like full bodied cigars and this one is a butt kicker (in a great way). The smokey flavor is awesome, burn is dead on and it has a sweet finish. I took this one down till I burnt my fingers!! I'll be buying more of these for sure and like always, CI rocks!! I like how the taste stays with you for quite some time; yum.
This one stinks to high heaven before being lit (reminds me of Talisker 10, smoky and salty smelling) once lit, it's alright, but I still couldn't lose that pre-light stench.
I've smoked a pipe as long as I've smoked cigars. This cigar reminds me of an English blend pipe tobacco. Not exactly Latakia tobacco, but smokey in that way. The construction is superb, burn is very good. The flavors are smokey and hearty. I laughed when these first came out thinking that this cigar would be a flop. These are excellent smokes!
Ok so I'd read mostly good reviews and a couple of bad ones before ordering the KFC (chunky). Drew Estate made these so I was intrigued. Upon opening the package I could smell the smokey Kentucky fire right away. I thought, maybe I've made a mistake, who really wants to smoke...smoke. After a couple days in the humidor I couldn't wait any longer so I cut and lit one up. Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! Smokey Sweetness Baby! This cigar is Fantastical! If that's a word! It doesn't change as you get in to it, but then again you wouldn't want it to! I will, I say I will be buying more of these! Pick up a pack and you won't be disappointed! After all, Everybody Needs A Little , KFC!..... yep, that just happened.
Absolutely fantastic. I had to make a conscious effort not to take a bite of this one. Great flavor and finish.
Huge fan of Drew Estate. Being that I'm a sweet kind of guy, I figured I'll take a chance on the KFC. I'm smoking this as I do this review. First, I must say it's a smooth cigar. It really does smell like smoked meats, but in a good way. The draw is not as loose as I would like, but it's nothing crazy. To me it's kind of a medium cigar, not full at all. A great smoke from start to finish with notes of oak, slight pepper, hint of sweetness, hint of cocoa is what I get from this cigar. Not an over powerful cigar. It's just right in my honest opinion. Will keep this in my humidor. Don't think anyone should be disappointed! Great job DE.
After trying a couple of these fire cured smokes I had to say "Not Bad". Actually Not Bad at all. They are firm, which means the smoke will burn evenly. Well packed and long burning. There is a real camp fire experience going on here, you can actually taste what seems like Mesquite wood or maybe oak but none the less, you will taste a very well balanced collection of spice and wood and earth that is smooth yet full bodied. Try the Kyotos first; they have a 91 rating and they are just thrifty enough to warrant a try. I personally like the Fat Mollies, 82 rating and I can't really tell the difference in flavor. I really like these when I'm sitting on my deck at night with good friends. ENJOY!
Having a lot of family in Kentucky, I go there several times a year. For this reason, I really wanted to like this cigar. I didn't; it was like smoking a stick of wood. I never thought I would find a Drew Estate smoke that I didn't like. This would be a good one to give to that friend that wants a cigar, but only smokes once every year or two. Not much flavor and not very strong...on the other hand, it lights, burns and draws perfect!
Exceptionally good cigar! Very smooth and aromatic.
Great smoke!!!! The wrapper smell reminds of a southern BBQ smell. Sweet wood notes with a razor sharp burn. Based on the stick I had (Fat Molly), I will be ordering a box of these!!!
THEY TASTE LIKE A PIG ROAST! I LOVE THEM!
I'd read some of the lukewarm reviews about the Kentucky Fire Cured and decided to take a chance. Not the worst, but surely not the best smoking experience for me. I let them rest in my humidor for about two weeks before trying the first one. I was expecting some really different and rich taste. But ehhh, the off flavor was lost in a tight draw. I will try another one after about two months in the humidor. If still the same then I won't buy again.
Love these cigars. They taste great. I highly recommend these to anyone.
Tried my first one after getting it in promo pack. Wow, was I suprised. Rich in flavor, easy on the pallette all the way through. Since then I have tried them all and my favorite is the "Chunky". This cigar is unique and has found a permanent spot in my rotation.
I'll leave this review short and simple! If you are a fan of English blend pipe tobaccos you will fall in love with this cigar! I smoked the FAT MOLLY and it has characteristics of a typical English blend! All the reviews I've read are spot on! Smoky, campfire, oily, meat smoker fire, lip smacking, bbq ribs! It's like an English blend pipe tobacco rolled in a cigar! I loved the cigar and the whole idea that I didn't have to babysit a pipe and clean it when I was done! If you've never smoked an English blend pipe tobacco please keep an open mind with this cigar! It's a great cigar, but with the fire cured tobacco it's flavor profile is like no other on the market! I hope this helps!!! SMOKE AWAY!!!!
Smoked one of these about a week ago and had high expectations. The results were decent but the others sitting around me enjoyed the smoke more than I did. Tasted like beef jerky being smoked but more on the smokey end obviously. But unless you smell it lightly on the wind the smell of the BBQ smoke is diminished. All in all it is at least worth a try since it is so unique.
I've been smoking the "Just A Friend" toros for about 3 weeks now. These are great. I love the campfire aroma that they emit. Bystanders seem to like the aroma too; I've had several comments and no one has given me the wrinkled nose. These are unique however, and some hardcore purists may not like them. Me? These and Diesels will always be in stock at my house.
After that first long smooth draw, I thought to myself, this is one of the best (Fat Molly) cigars I've smoked so far. I've studied cigars now for over 5 years and it's rare to find one cigar that sticks in for mouth mind, POW KFC will be in my humidor for a long time and I shan't share any with my friends. sorry buy your own! Max of TEXAS
5 years ago I started my great education about cigars, I started with (Juicy Lucy) and I've grown and when I saw a fire cured cigar and by Drew & company I ordered a 10 PK of Fat Molly's. It's the most unique and outstanding cigar (in my mind). It has a sweet, deep smoky flavor. It's great with Jack Daniels or any good whisky or bourbon. It's Draws = 9. Burn = 10. Taste+10+. Max of Texas.
Not a bad little cigar at all. Next time I will look closer at size, I am sure the larger ones will taste much smoother and smokier.
What a fantastic smoke. In a very simplified explanation, this smelled and tasted like beef jerky. But don't let that explanation fool you. The flavor is deep and complex. It's rich with a beautiful smoky flavor, but without a peppery bite. The flavor is so unique you'll be thinking about it long after you're done smoking it. Highly recommended.
Probably one of the most unique cigars I've ever smoked. I used to smoke a pipe regularly and my favorite all time tobacco was Germains Special Latakia. This cigar is an exact replica of that smell and taste and I absolutely love it. Thank you Drew Estates and CI for this offering.
This Fat Molly smoke was perfect with an 18 year Talisker. Made me want to go light a bon fire and smoke some ribs. Super smooth draw until my fingers were burning. Great job Drew Estate!
Really really good! If you're into the MUWAT and want some smokey depth, this is for you! I love it!
My god what a cigar freaking awesome, the aroma right out of the box is awesome backwoods/campfire smell just awesome!
Being from the Cincinnati/ Kentucky area these caught my eye. One of my favorite smokes. Great with beer, bourbon, or grilled meats. I prefer the Fat Molly. Love the things Drew Estate does and this one was no exception. Always in my humidor.
....If you enjoy a rich almost decadent smoky taste, this is your cigar. campfires on the beach, and so forth, or riding in your car/truck in the back woods and smelling the unmistakable smell of smoky goodness, this is the cigar for you! Medium(in body) for me at least, well constructed, toothy, and an absolute perfect burn. This cigar is a lip smacker. almost as oily as a pork rib on the lips. just plain yummy......
Great smooth smoke with great taste all the way to the end. Smokes as well as a padrone but without the high cost! Great everyday smoke.
Great smoke but didn't expect anything less. Paired it with some Jack Daniels Honey and coke. They were made for each other. The smokey flavor of the KFC goes great with the sweet whiskey. Didn't have any issues with the two that I've smoked. After the first one I went and ordered 20 more that night.
Wow if you like to smoke meat, or just sit around an oak wood camp fire, this is your cigar. Its like a little camp fire. Top notch cigar construction and full flavor. Simply awesome!
I tried one of these for the first time last night and I was amazed. I never thought the word nostalgic could be used to apply to cigars, but when I first opened it and smelled that rich, sweet aroma, it evoked memories from my childhood that I had almost forgotten. Weekends in Gadsden, Alabama with my great grandparents back in the early to mid sixties. Neither of them smoked cigars, but they dipped snuff and it had a smell like the snuff they dipped. Tasted as good as it smelled, and very well constructed. I highly recommend them.
This one is quickly becoming one of my favorite cigars. The Fat Molly is one nasty lady(in a good way) that is unforgiving if you aren't ready to bow to her authority. Love, love, love the KFC.
These cigars are like smoking the smoke off a wood burning meat smoker.
I am not surprised that all sizes are currently on backorder. To smoke one of these unique cigars is to want more. The aroma is like no other stick I have ever smoked. Enjoyed this one with some Facundo rum. But I think it would pair up even better with a nice small batch bourbon. And, on top of everything else, the cigar has a smooth draw and an even burn. Another excellent Nicaraguan cigar.
I am a HUGE fan of many of Drew Estate cigars. I love the original MUAT, Kuba Maduro, Tabak Especial, Undercrown, Natural, Opulence 3, Liga Privada No.9, and others. But this particular stick was not my cup of tea. Pre-light, it smelled like wet, burnt firewood. And it pretty much tasted like a camp fire all the way through. I got a hint of something salty, like BBQ sauce when the cigar burned up to where the band had been. If you are a big fan of a robust smoky flavor. If you yearn for a mouthful of camp fire smoke… This would probably be your cigar. It isn't mine. But Drew Estate has me covered quite well with their other sticks. So I cannot complain. Happy smoking!
Absolutely the best in cigars! Would highly recommend the Kentucky Fire Cured to anyone!
