I was forever a fan of the punch type cutter for over 10 years. That is until I bought my first Xikar cutter, a perfect cut every time. Lay the xikar cutter flat on a hard surface , place cigar , and cut! Easy , neat and clean especially for the large gauged stogies! Im still a fan of the punch cutter but it is now my 2nd choice.
This cutter is a quality product. The blades are incredibly sharp, the gap between the blades is seldom even visible, and at 56 Rockwell the edge should last. I'm constantly impressed with the perfect cuts it leaves on robustos. I would recommend the Xi8 for anything larger than a 56 ring gauge however, it leaves an angled slice and compacts a little tobacco around the edge. I would definitely order this cutter again!

I have the Xi2 blue fiberglass model. It's just as sharp as the higher-priced models, is put together just as well, and seems functionally identical to them. However, instead of their exotic grip panel materials, it uses a lightly-textured fiberglass that's essentially scratch-proof, chip-proof, dent-proof, crack-proof and everything-proof. I don't see how you can ever accidentally damage, degrade or negatively affect this stuff, ever. I can't say the same for some of the more exotic materials used on the costlier models. I love it, it makes perfect cuts every time, and is the best double-guillotine cutter I've ever had, by a wide margin. Lifetime warranty, too. If you want a lower price, a higher resistance to damage and the same blade and mechanism quality, buy the Xi2 (and like with all the models in this line, never mangle another cigar cap again).
This cigar cutter has improved every cigar I've smoked since I got it. Perfect, laser-like, cut every time. No frayed bits, no mess. Thumbs up.
I'm really impressed with this cutter. It is far better than the first one I purchased, but it should be noted the other one was only $12.00 dollars.

The Xikar Xi2- Blue is the best cutter I've ever had. Every cut is clean, it never tears the wrapper, the blades never get dull, (i always cut the gar' with the cello on, keeps the blade clean) the only problem is, " YOU CAN'T LOSE IT!!, Next order, guess what?
