The big 5-0!
Exodus 1959 has been the Torano's long-time flagship brand, earning a stellar 92-rating and other top cigar honors. Named for the year the Torano family fled Cuba, their ‘Exodus’ has just reached its 50-year milestone. So to commemorate the occasion, the Toranos have worked up something truly special....Torano Exodus 1959 '50 Years'.
This special edition Exodus is gorgeous, draped in a sun-grown Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper. This dark, thick leaf is responsible for a flood of rich, decadent flavors. On the inside is a specially selected mix of Nicaraguan long-fillers from the Esteli and Pueblo Nuevo regions. The combination produces a plethora of flavors including notes of cocoa, earth, spices, sweetness and a long satisfying finish. Smooth, balanced and complex, Exodus 1959 ’50 Years’ is another brilliant work from the celebrated Torano family.
Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 '50 Years' received a well-deserved, 93-point rating in addition to Top 25 Cigar honors, noting: "Rich and balanced, with toasty, nutty flavors that build in sweetness, taking on some notes of dried berries on the finish."
I lit my robusto after 10 days in the humidor. A clean straight cut on a tightly packed cigar. I was not expecting great results as I thought more time in the humidor would be needed. Started of spicy and peppery and a third thru transitioned into a cocoa creamy delight, back to pepper and again to creamy and with a berry finish. Easy draw, even grayish white ash. This wonderful smoke lasted around an hour. I must say that for a med- full smoke this had bucket loads of flavor without harshness or being over powering. I can't wait to see what happens to these wonderful smokes with more cure time in the humidor!
My initial thought on this cigar was that it may have a really tight draw. It had almost no give and was very firm. I put a straight cut on it, which left a crisp, un-tattered edge. This was definitely a good sign. When I lit the cigar, it had a surprisingly easy draw with smooth, mellow flavors. Not the tight draw or harshness that I originally expected. The burn line remained very consistent and the ash was a firm, white color. Excellent cigar! I look forward to more of these.
Excellent smoke! Great price!
I would just like to start off by saying ....I have smoked a lot of top names, but this one remains my favorite everyday smoke. For a nice full bodied smoke, I enjoy this particular cigar in the torpedo shape. I just love the amount of flavor you get with this cigar.
Cocoa, cocoa, dried fruit with a wonderful spicy finish + relatively inexpensive = PERFECT CIGAR! No other cigar touches this for best value! Try the 6 by 54 Cuban toro; guaranteed 90 min of pure bliss.
Was never originally a Torano fan, but bought the big-ring sampler and really enjoyed these. The 50 years is my favorite and has now become my go to cigar with the regular 1959 being my next in line. Padrons have always been my favorite but are a bit pricey these days and these Torano's are literally the closest in taste to Padron that I've ever experienced while still being unique on their own. These 50 years are nice and strong the way I like them, and burn nice and slow and even. Only other thing I'll note is the wrappers on the Big-Ring sampler seem to be a little different, lighter and not as nicely textured as when buying the regular boxes/vitolas. I also think as a result the flavor is even better than the big-ring even though that sampler is awesome as well. Maybe I'm nuts, but I've compared them side by side and the wrappers do appear different. I highly recommend these!
The dried berry notes are just amazing. Paired with Barterhouse 20yr Bourbon, about an inch in to my robusto I got to the berries. It was clear as day - I'd had nothing like this before. I went for a sip of bourbon and the nose on my bourbon had completely changed into the same dried berry. A good paring is its own cocktail! My new favorite cigar to have with my favorite bourbon. I bid on a few more before I had even finished it!
Delicious, smooth, full bodied and down right tasty! Would recommend.
Pepper and earth to start, rich smoke, then transitioned into an amazing creamy cigar!! I don't often smoke a cigar to the nub, but my fingers are burning ans I'm still smoking this beauty!! Thanks CI :)
With about 20 different Torano blends available at this site alone, it could be awhile before I get to try all or even most of them. But I have smoked & enjoyed several of them including Loyal, Exodus Gold & Casa Torano. My 2nd favorite is the Exodus 1959 "50 Years", with the Loyal special edition robusto coming in 1st. The oddly sized Torano Exodus 1959 "50 Years" mini toro or fat corona is a 6" X 48 smorgasbord of delicious, full flavored, medium bodied goodness! Loaded with spice, earth, leather & currants, it coats the palate with gobs of complexity & a unique array of ever changing tastes that can only be described as delightful. Expect a 40 minute smoke time, which makes me wonder how the larger ring vitolas in this line perform. The gargantuan figurado must burn for quite a while & may well take this devilishly good blend up a notch or two. Can't wait to try, but I will wait for a deal like the sampler I found of 5 different blends in toro size that includes 4 of the "50 Years" & 4 other premium blends like Salutem & Master Maduro, for a measly $2.50 a stick. With ratings as high as 93, some folks just love "50 Years". I give it a 90/100, only because it is a bit too expensive at regular prices. Considering I have not invested more than the aforementioned 2 bones & 4 bits in any of the half dozen I have had the pleasure to smoke over the last 12 months, it really does deserve a higher rating. Highly recommended to fullheads looking for a stogie that clings to you long after you are finished smoking it. the taste just lingers & that is not a bad thing at all, when it tastes this good!
Rich in flavor and smooth tasting, yet the spices still pack a punch.
Fantastic cigar! Beautifully box pressed and well constructed. Medium with deep flavors which are full but not heavy. While I didn't pick up cocoa, there were notes of coffee and pepper.
This is a really good cigar. I'm a mild cigar smoker more often than not, but I really enjoyed this cigar. Its very well constructed. Great draw and great flavor. For the price its a very good deal.
This cigar I have to rank in as close to my Cohiba Diamante, simply magnificent! How sweet it is!
Ok, I have to eat crow after my first review. Revisited the Torano Exodus 1959 "50 years" after some more rest time. Change of heart. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I got a ton of flavor, sweetness, chocolate, and even some coconut that others mentioned. Crazy, but true. Construction and draw were perfect all the way through. Really liked it. So, scratch that prior review of mine. Great cigar. I have the robustos, next purchase will be a bigger vitola.
Not feeling the love for this cigar that everyone else is. Good cigar? Yes. Good construction? Yes. Top 25? Eh, I dont buy that. Im thinking Im not a fan of the Brazilian wrapper, on any cigar. With that said, it is by no means a bad cigar. I have 6 left, and I will smoke them. After that, I probably wont smoke another. Just doesnt do it for me.
Never had a Torano until I saw these on Joe's Daily last year, and purchasing them that day was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've had multiple Torano's since and they have all been great, but none were as good as this one. I think it may be my favorite cigar ever and will be my "go to" cigar for quite a while, if not forever. Don't ever stop making these Torano!
The short Churchill is a very good looking cigar. A dark Aripiraca wrapper covers somewhat loosely rolled long fillers from Nicaragua. It is medium bodied & loaded with flavor, including hints of leather, toast & cocoa. It has an easy draw that produces clouds of thick white smoke & burns rather quickly, yielding a smoking time more in line with a Robusto than a Churchill. I like this blend, but at the current cost, cannot see paying the price, when there are so many other options to consider. 89/100
Excellent Cigar. I keep these well stocked and every friend I hand these out have nothing but good things to say. This cigar has a deep rich oily smoke which accompanies the medium-full strength very well. I had one cigar give me a blast of coconut, however I have not been able to replicate it....You can make some new friends by passing them around they are also very cheap on MMAO so they won't break the bank. You will not be disappointed.
This cigar, in the toro box pressed, was all the descriptions to a tee. A wonderful cigar with a very good blending of very good tobaccos. My favorite Torano stick so far.
A Medium Bodied Nutty, Creamy, Chocolate, Coffee, Fruit Tasting Gem. If This Cigar Is Not In Your Humidor, You Don't Know What Your Missing.
If you like a cigar with plenty of spicy flavor, you will love the Exodus 50 Years. I recently told my cigar club buddies that if I think I have finally found my favorite cigar - this one! Good draw. Good consistent burn. Excellent flavor.
Wonderful smoke. My palate is not sophisticated enough to differentiate this flavor or that one, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment of this cigar. This one tempts me to use a toothpick like my grandfather did with his Dutch Masters to get every last puff.
Just tried one of these for the first time. AMAZING!
A Medium To Full Bodied Creamy, Chocolate Tasting Wonderful Cigar!!!!! If This Cigar Is Not In Your Humidor, Your Not A Cigar Man, Your A Fish.
The Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 50 Years, well I Just finished one of these. I had it napping away for about a month, hoping it would live up to expectations. My thoughts: This is definitely a wow stick, beautifully constructed, great draw. I would put the flavor profile somewhere between a RP Old world reserve maduro and a Padron 1964 maduro. Not quite a sweet as the RP and not quite as complex as the Padron. Thick, heavy, palate coating smoke; coffee, licorice, semisweet chocolate. A long lingering finish, extremely satisfying, this one has it all. Nubbed it to less than an inch. Absolutely one of my top 10.
MY MY MY.....................These are pure unadulterated heaven rolled into cigar perfection. My friend turned me onto the Torano line several years back and I have to say that I have yet to smoke a CT that I didn't enjoy immensely. The tobacco combination used in this gem is an art form unto itself. Most notably to me is the subtle Berry flavor in there underlying and complimenting the other flavors. The earth and Cocoa and spices. JUST WOW! I have only had one other cigar that is close to this in flavor and those are something called "Tortuga 215 Belicoso". Good luck finding them for one. And they're pricey. The CT's are amazing for the price. Either way. ENJOY! You will my friends. Just make sure you don't smoke them out of the shipping box! Let 'em rest for at least a month. You'll be glad you did. Thanks again CI for making the CT's available at such a "buyers" price!
These are a tad expensive, but are a quality smoke from start to finish. The robusto, in m.h.o, is the best of the lot.
Whenever I need to trim my mustache, I smoke this. It's that good.
I've smoked some very good cigars but none any better than the Exodus 50 year. An absolutely smooth cigar with a slow and dead even burn all the way to the last inch. The flavors were, to me, varied and complex with cocoa and berry predominant. I've also tried the Noventa and enjoyed it almost as much. I don't think you can do any better than one of the fine cigars from the Torano family. If you haven't tried one, do so and I think you'll agree. They are a bargain, especially at the price point.
I can only say, "I Like it" I have been sampling cigars over the past two months as I am (were) an occasional cigar smoker and wanted to try something other then the standard Cohibas. This was one I put on my list to try after I read the description/review. Yum. Nice Smoke and long burn. I'm sold. Gonna order more because these will be gone soon.
Great cigar! For a medium-bodied Maduro, the flavor notes are very balanced and smooth. I gave one to a buddy who generally likes milder cigars and he was impressed with it.
The 50 Years is a very good cigar. Due to the Maduro wrapper, I wasn't able to detect the dark cherry nuance which the Torano Exodus 1959 has. In my opinion, the Torano Exodus 1959 is the superior cigar, but Maduro lovers will enjoy this cigar very much. Very smooth, lots of flavor without being overpowering.
Quite simply one of the top five cigars I have had the pleasure to smoke, period.
I am a big fan of the Torano family cigars, and this is no exception. the 50 years exodus is quickly becoming one of my favorite smokes. a 93 rating is definitely modest. Just WOW!
The Exodus 50 is simply the best cigar I've ever smoked. Rich smooth and delicious, I love the slightly sweet dried berry finish. It goes well with pinot noir wine which has a ripe berry flavor.
I guess all I can do is add to the complimentary reviews here. This is a well packed, beautifully wrapped cigar. Smooth, with sweet earthy flavors complimented by notes bittersweet chocolate, dried fruit, and a hint of spice. Nice slow, even burn. To me, it's just above medium strength, but with full flavor. Wish I could keep an entire humidor full of these!
This is a fine addition to the Torano line. From beginning to end this thing is a pleasure and it's not even terribly expensive. I haven't really found a Torano cigar I didn't enjoy and this one is no exception.
Just had my first one last night- very nice- have to agree with the others! Will buy again in the future.
This cigar to me is what a cigar should be. Dark smooth and creamy. I love the black cherry finish. Is one of my top five. Well deserving of you sheckels or six pence to try. You will not be dissapointed
Torano cigars don't normally wow me. That being stated, the Exodus 50 Years is full, rich, and wonderfully complex - reminiscent of a San Cristobal. Nice, sweet, toasted marsmhallow flavor throughout. This cigar also didn't "wow" me; it "DOUBLE WOWED" me. Out of the last 50 cigars I've smoked, this is my second favorite behind the AB Tempus.
Got some of the robustos-CTE-50YEARS-extreme flavor-aroma is too good to describe-IMO I have to give this cigar a 97-simply one of the best cigars of all time.Well done Torano family! Thanks CI!
I agree with all the other botl, one of my favs. Cocoa notes for sure, last 1/2 of this cigar is the best!
As advertised, the Carlos Torano Exodus '59 Years does not disappoint. Rich coffee and coco flavors and an initial burst of peppery goodness than fuels the tip of my tongue. As the cigars burns on the pepper mellows and the mocha like flavors take charge. As i reach the halfway point the strength picks up and i now have some coconut flavors in play. A solid grey ash finally drops off. Getting to the final third, the pepper rears up once again and the cigar finishes like it started. Of course, the construction and burn were perfect. After 6 sticks, i felt they were very consistent. Top notch work from the Torano family. This is a terrific smoke after a hearty meal. Jump on it while there are still some available, ill rate this cigar a solid 94, yeah, i said 94.
The Carlos Torano Exodus, "50 Years", is the best new cigar that i have smoked, since CAO came out with the Black. The look and construction of this gem.....flawless. More importantly, the marrige of flavors is right on. Coffee, spice and a nice, not overdone, sweetness. The torpedo was my favorite. So if you have not tried these beauties, well i'd move on them before it's too late. You don't want to miss out on these limited sticks. I will modestly rate this cigar a 93. Enjoy, later.
Tried the Exodus 1959 "50 Years" short churchill and wow, what a cigar. The Toraño family hit a home run with this blend. Thick, chewy smoke, an abundance of flavors including bittersweet chocolate, espresso, pepper and caramel. Wonderfully complex with a perfect balance of strength and flavor. Would recommend these to anyone.
Just finished this jem of a cigar. What a treat! This cigar is simply delicious. Deep dark flavors abound. Mid way thru I pick up on an almost coconut, tropical flavor. Truely satisfying. I'll definately be putting more of these in my humidor.... and soon!
