Romeo y Julieta Media Noche

A dark n' delicious Romeo.

When it comes to Romeo, you all know the drill by now. Relentless quality, affordable prices, and reliable handmades that deliver time and time again. The new Romeo y Julieta Media Noche holds true all that Romeo's known for, but adds in a little something extra: loads of rich, complex flavor.

To create Romeo y Julieta Media Noche, a naturally fermented San Andres Maduro wrapper is loaded with a rich blend of vintage Dominican long-fillers. This combination leads to a spicy, robust profile that’s layered with toasty notes of coffee, nuts, black pepper, and honey. Delicious, brimming with flavor, and ridiculously well-made…but you wouldn't expect anything less from Romeo. The only surprise here is the price…boxes start at just $99.99.

Cigar lit well and maintained a good ash. It provided an easy draw throughout with amble smoke. I did find that of the several I had, all finished on the "hot" side.

Good cigar
It wasn't quite what I was expecting from a Romeo y Julieta. A little harsh. Otherwise it was all right.

Romeo y Julieta Media Noche = Great smoke!
Great consistency in construction & flavor tones while smoking. Easy going smoothness for a stick on the medium/full range where a bolder, hearty, semi rich robustness in tone and flavor goes a step beyond what most other R y J has to offer.

Great deal on one of R&J's best smokes!
Great deal on these Media Noche's... Smooth and rich and you won't be sorry you tried these!

Good stick
The first couple of draws I was like, "Wow, this is kind of strong," but it settled down. I had to re-light it three times. It was a humid night, and many cigars will tire out if you aren't on them.

Great flavor, poor draw
These cigars were on special, so I gave them a try. The flavor was awsome to say the least. Almost half of the box had draw issues, too tight & hard. I often wonder if cigars with draw issues end up on sale or in sample packs.

Pretty darn good!
I wanted to have them so that they could rest til Winter. Decided to have "one", just because I had never had them... now, it's August and I only have ONE left! lol So far, RyJ just can't seem to do any wrong in my book. Not my favorite stick under their label, but, definitely worth the deal!

Quality and taste in one
Great tasting cigar. Burns nice and even, easy draw. Taste of spice, pepper and toward the end a robust cream taste. I smoke these everyday as my regular. Can't ask for a better cigar with a great price.

Afficionado
I bought a box of Robustos about a year ago. If you want to get the most of this cigar (as from any medium or full stick) you need to age it for at least 6 m ofths. I did and it was well worth the time. Well constructed, perfect draw and burn, and full of flavor. IMO, the major flavor notes are earth, coffee, and wood. Very well blended and nicely detectable on the retrohale. The strength starts as medium but moves towards full in the last third. Five stars would go to Padrons, Arturo Fuentes, and Dominican Cohibas, but this one is a solid 4. For the price, this is certainly a great cigar.

good flavor but draw issues
Pretty good stick. There are plenty of interesting flavors going on but i would not classify this as full flavored. Maybe medium to medium-full. It's a smooth smoke but the draw was awful on two of mine. I had to carefully stick a skewer through them in order to loosen then and not to puff them to death trying to get smoke.

awesome flavor, burn evenly, nice robust taste

Full flavor, a little stronger, but a great Cigar
When I first lit it up, it was very strong and tasted like black pepper. I did not like it. I was going to give the rest of my box to my neighbor, BUT I continued to smoke it. It ended up tasting much better and I could taste the coffee and nuts and honey flavors. Turned out to be a nice full cigar. If you like a stronger, full flavor cigar, this one will fill the bill. Looking forward to trying another.

Full flavor great burn. This is the type of cigar you do not want to put down until your fingers begin to burn😜

excellent!
This is one I have wanted to try for awhile now and I have to say, it was worth the wait. It was actually one of the best sticks I've had in awhile. I will end up trying the Montecristo and H. Upmann Media Notche's as well, but I may just order a few more of these first.

Little stronger than I like
Little stronger than I like but still good. Hard to draw from. Maybe packed to tight. Have had others like that from CI. Are they rejects?
3 out of 5
Tight draw
Very disappointing. Draw was too tight, could barely get any smoke from it. But, I will admit the flavor was quite good.
4 out of 5
Great tasting smoke
The entire Media Noche line, from R&J, to Upmann, to Montecristo, are all wonderfully made and tasty cigars. I was pleased with the the taste and burn of the R&J line it was just missing something that the Montecristo line has. Having said that it is still one of the better cigars on the market and I would highly recommend it!

Excellent smoke for a great price from CI
I tried this cigar at a shop and loved it. I was going to buy more there but kept the wrapper to see if CI had it. They did for way less.

Tasty
Looks like there's a lot of poor reviews for this cigar. Maybe I got lucky, but this is a delight. The draw is too tight, but the flavors are all there. Cocoa and honey. Yummy.

Good taste, firm pack. A taste of chocolate, halfway some spice. The draw in a little tight but get better as you smoke. I will always keep these in my humidor. Try them you will like them. Robert in Gwynn Oak, Md

Level up to spice and cream
When you are ready for a step up from the RyJ 1875, this is a safe bet. Spiced and creamy, it's a great stick.

Premium Quality
If you like RyJ 1875's but want a bolder taste, you will like these. Same base flavor as the 1875 but more on medium, rich tone.

Not as good as before
I use to smoke them along with montecristo. This last one kept his character, ryj did not. Did not enjoy at all
4 out of 5
Stronger Flavour but good burn and solid R&J construction.
I enjoy the R&J cigars as a rule. I do like Maduro and darker full flavor cigars, but for the R&J I would recommend the Connecticut blend first. This Media Noche does have a bit of a bitter after taste. Good even burn though, with a consistent flavor throughout.

Solid stick that packs a nice punch!

My new favorite cigar
Since my previous favorite cigar (CAO box-pressed tubos #2 with Cameroon wrapper) is no longer available, this Romeo y Julieta has become my favorite. I like the Churchill 7" x 54, but if you go for that size beware: they take 1.5 hours to smoke all the way down. :)

Overall very impressed.
I received this cigar in a sampler and didn't really know what to expect. Being from the Romeo name I figured it wouldn't be terrible but hadn't heard of anyone I know smoking it. After a couple months of letting it age in the humidor I finally gave it a shot, and I was not disappointed. After punching a hole in it I was immediately impressed by the solid construction and smell. Initial draw, pre light, left me with hints of cocoa and coffee. The flavor was fairly steady throughout with a light spice taste. The draw was smooth with a nice even burn. I will for sure smoke this again.

Comfort food in a cigar.......by the fire out back or with a nice beverage where lots of people pass by....great smoke thru and thru.

Nice Weeknight Smoke
Nice smoke - WAY better than its Montecristo counterpart. Robusto is a good size if you have 60 min and little bourbon. Goes well with cold IPA as well. Even burn, good draw. Smokes well down to the wrapper. Best non-Cuban R&J I've had. Semper Fi!

Poor excuse for a cigar.
How could anyone think this was a good cigar? You could barely get any air through it, it burned unevenly, and had very little flavor. There are better cigars for half the price. I would be ashamed to put these in my moochadore.

Media Noche is the way to go
I purchased the Romeo y Julia Media Noches toros to replace my dwindling supply of Montecristo Media Noches. I actually like these a lot better. Smooth with lots of flavor and a consistent burn.

Romeo y Julieta Media Noche Churchill
I would rate this cigar 5 starts due to good flavor and rich smoke - however, occasionally I will get one that doesn't burn evenly and/or is difficult to keep lit so I struggle with it for a while until I give up and toss it out and grab another one.

I was very impressed with the duration of the cigar (over an hour plus) and its aroma and deep smoke, with the spice and pepper flavors right to the end a definite repeat buy and urge others to enjoy this splendid fine cigar...
Customer Testimonials
One of my favs, best that $5 cigar money can buy. Not an over powering kick in the chest (or wallet). YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
Well constructed, good draw, and tons of flavors. I smoked 5 of these and can't say I love 'em. Dark bitter chocolate overwhelms and might be your fancy, but not mine. Not bad, though wouldn't buy again.
Got my RYJ Media Noche in a sampler and gave it a couple of weeks humi time. Draw was a bit tight to start and not much smoke in the beginning. A very smooth smoking cigar with great flavors. The last 1/2 is great and my Robusto made me wish I had a Churchill. Ordering some today; I love this cigar!!!
I bought a five pack of these to try, (6x60). I smoked the first one last night. It was a spectacular smoke. Flavor was superb, it burned well, smelled great, never got hot. Just down right awesome cigar. A bit pricey for everyday, but definitely a good occasional cigar when you feel like you deserve a reward.
I'm usually a mild - medium cigar smoker. I bought these based on the description and reviews. I was very pleasantly surprised and extremely happy with this smoke. It was an excelent smoke right down to the nub. I will continue to purchase more to keep my humidor stocked. Worth every penny.
I don't usually bother to write one of these comments, but I thought this was a good cigar as well as a good buy. I had gotten the 10 pack robusto sampler and was pleasantly surprised. Nice look, construction and aroma. A bit peppery on the light up, but it went away. Nice aroma, even burn. I thought this was a medium full body with notes of leather, dark chocolate, slight cream. Very good cigar!
GREAT smoke! You won't be disappointed with this beauty.

Romeo y Julieta Media Noche

Erick V
As I was sitting at my computer puffing away on sample after sample, looking for a new blend worthy of a place in the humi, I got fed up with getting one dud after another. Either it was just an off day or someone else kept all the good samples to themselves…I’m going to guess it was the latter. By this point I was craving something delicious and remembered that the boss man had been harking on me to get some more reviews up. Perfect! I’ll kill two birds with one stone!

Not wanting to run the risk of picking another dud, for this review I decided to go with a proven winner - a timeless brand that never ceases to disappoint, and a brand that has been dipping its feet into some uncharted, robust territories as of late (right up my alley). I plunged head first into the Romeo y Julieta Media Noche.

First off, let me add what a breath of fresh air (metaphorically speaking) after the demoralizing morning I had. Even cold draws on this sucker produced an ear to ear smile across my face. A slight tinge of citrus was noticeable before even taking the flame to it and my day just got a whole lot better. The first third was pretty spot on to what you would expect from a San Andres maduro. There was a prominent sweet spice that was carried along by notes of leather and earth. Construction was top-notch as to be expected of anything with the Romeo name on it, but bold, heady flavors made for a nice change of pace from any Romeo I’ve come to know.

One unexpected downside was that the initial citrus I picked out on the cold draw seemed a distant memory once I sparked my 5.5 x 44 corona. It certainly wasn’t all bad though, the notes that replaced it were welcoming and complex. By the second third, even more entered the fray. Nuances of espresso teamed up with chocolate to usher in the final third. By this point Media Noche only required one touch up and if I were a more patient man I would put my money on it being able to correct itself…but sadly I am not.

About 45 minutes in and I am reclined as far back as my office chair will go, in a state of what I can only describe as a mix of smoking euphoria and relief that I finally found a keeper. At around an inch away from the nub the flavors are dominated by a toasty oak accented by hints of sweet black pepper. The ash impressively held on for close to three and a half inches, only complaint is ash is a bitch to get out from under the keys of my keyboard – but I supposed that is a user error. All in all Romeo y Julieta Media Noche was a pleasing medium to full-body new addition to the historic Romeo brand. It has enough body to satisfy those full-bodied fanatics and enough pronounced flavors for those beginners to be able to pin point some of those nuances all the veterans have been boasting about for so long.
