Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

Rocky's bread and butter.

In the "cigar community" (is it me or is there a "community" for everything these days?), Rocky Patel's Vintage Series of cigars have been blazing hot. For good reason. This blend is nothing short of masterful: complex and smooth, with layer after layer of deep box-pressed flavor. Offered in 2 styles, Vintage 1990 and Vintage 1992. With each, the wrapper tobaccos are the key ingredient. In fact these wrappers are incredible. Let me explain:

Vintage 1992 boasts the identical Nicaraguan and Dominican ligero long-fillers as the 1990, with the variation being very dark 10 year old Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. It's medium-bodied and box-pressed with a creamy, nutty, and full flavor.

Great news! Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 received a 91-rating, noting: "A thick, medium-bodied cigar full of coffee and earth. It draws and burns evenly, taking on licorice flavors and a woody finish."

Good Long Smoke
Very dry cigars when I received them, needed one month TLC in my humidor before being really smokable. Consistent flavor during entire smoke, easily enjoyable down to the nub. Mild-to-Medium smoke. Good draw. Smooth / Rich / Creamy. Sweet nutty taste. Normally not a fan of box pressed cigars, but will easily make an exception for these.

Quite Dandy
I’m a one cigar a day kinda guy, unless I’m traveling. I don’t limit myself on a vacation. But my normal life sometimes precludes a bigring long stick. I typically go for medium bodied cigars and this Rocky Vintage is a perfect 37 minute delight. Good after lunch, with Coffee, and particularly nice at night with my evening Kombucha. Textbook ash, even burn and draw, delicious to the nubbins.

Sorry I can't provide you a review of the product at this time because I have not tried one yet. However, I have smoked these cigars in the past and they were great. My rating is based on previous cigars.

Vintage 1992
When I allow myself the luxury of a superior cigar I love to go for a box pressed Rocky Patel. Both the vintage 1992 and 1990 supply the smooth draw, medium strength and great taste that I really enjoy.

Not quite a 5 star?
Taste and draw were fine. Lots of smoke. 3 out of 5 had construction issues and did not burn evenly.

I recently bought a package of the Rocky Patel Vintage cigars. They are a very good quality cigar, though small but a nice change.

Sitting here enjoying another 92 with an 18yr old Scotch. Great smoke, full of flavor and when paired with a good Scotch makes for a relaxing evening.

Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Churchill.
This was my first Rocky Patel cigar. I'm not a big fan of full strength cigars. I like full flavor body cigars. This one is mellow, flavorful, easy to smoke dessert cigar. It's not too complex as some other ones on the market, but I really enjoyed it. On my way to explore Rocky Patel lines. Vintage 1992 is next.

Nice box press roll, great draw, super smooth w/ no bite, great flavor. A nice treat when you don't want to commit too much time for the smoke....

One of Rocky's Very Best
I rate the Vintage 1992 over the 1990, personally, and it is one of my treasured smokes I buy whenever CI has a decent deal! Cheers!

1992 Rocky Patel Toro Tubos
The 1992 vintage of RP has always been one of my favorites, and this toro does not disappoint. The Sumatro wrapper is beautiful and uniform with a deep rich finish. The smoke is even, smooth, with a medium bodied taste. I pick up mild hInts of espresso and a bit of spice. Just a great smoke.

not burning as well as i remembered
i love the taste of the rocky 1990 and 1992. my favorite smokes. but lately i notice that the burn has become uneven sometimes, and the draw is not always as smooth as i would like. therefore, 4 stars.

Rocky never disappoints
Just finished a Rocky 1992 paired with Wild Turkey Rare Breed bourbon. Perfect combination. The sweet aftertaste of the Rare Breed rounded out the pepper of the 1992. Perfect construction and even burn is consistent with a Rocky Patel cigar.

Good first encounter
I just smoked my first one of these, right of the truck. No humidor time. This cigar is a little on the mellow side for my taste (full cigars are my preference) but I will add it to my lineup. I don't need to get kicked in the teeth every time I burn a stick. Very smooth, great flavors and consistent throughout. The burn went a little catterwonky for a while but I beat it back into submission (so to speak). I'm hoping it was a fluke as I'll be smoking more of these little beauty's. I'm starting to like the box pressed cigars a little more too. Great feel of the cover on the fingers.

unsatisfied customer
VERY disappointed... bought 2 and both had major construction issues, had an unbearably tight draw, and had little to no flavor. Both spent plenty of time in my humi, would not recommend.

Rocky Patel Vintage 1992
I enjoy the RP 2002s. The appearance is always excellent and the draw is consistently slightly firm. The roll is usually firm with Rocky Patel cigars, so they require more humidification and care than other top-tier cigars that I smoke here in Afghanistan. The flavor composition is fine, but tends to dry my palette out, unlike the Rocky Patel 1990 or the Decade. The flavor composition is not as robust as many of the Vintage series, but is a not attempt at a medium-full smoke. The finish smooth without getting too bitter.
Customer Testimonials
This is another great cigar in Patel's collection. It is great to look at and even better to smoke. The addition of ligero adds some oomph to this stick, but the Sumatra wrap gives it some more spice. Some of the initial flavors I tasted was cedar and some nutmeg - proving how complex it truly is. Patel is consistent and knows how to create real smoking pleasures in these. Great draw and it smoked well down to the ring. Bravo Rocky!
