Rocky Patel Cargo

Rocky Patel Cargo at must-go prices.

Never heard of Cargo? Understandable, only Central America has released more brands than Rocky Patel since 2005. Here's the skinny. While Rocky Patel is mostly known for his 90+ rated, award-winning blends, RP also creates a wide profile of wallet-friendly blends that'll please your palate as much as your bank account. Affordable, dependable, and rather delicious, Rocky Patel Cargo is like a cool drink on a hot summer day.

Despite Rocky Patel Cargo's modest appearance, this medium-bodied blend delivers full-flavored goodness in spades. Nicaraguan tobaccos are carefully combined in Cuban sandwich-style, then hugged by dark and oily Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut wrappers to produce a rich and creamy bouquet. Earth, sweet cedar, leather, and espresso bean linger on the palate just before a sweet series of gentle spices completes each puff.

Nice everyday smoke
Another hit by Rocky Patel. We all know Rocky is known for it's high end cigars but he hits a home run for this very affordable everyday smoke.

Disappointed
I have smoked Rocky Patel in the past and they have always been great. These Cargo Robusto's had an inferior cap that unraveled no mater how you cut it. The draw was very slow and the flavor was not remarkable. I still like RP but will not be purchasing the Cargo series again.

Cheaper is NOT Always Better
Bought the Rocky Patel Cargo Robusto because the price was attractive and I love Rocky Patel stogies. Unfortunately, these cigars were only ho-hum. The flavor was agreeable for me, but I really had to work on these to keep them lit. Oddly enough, they were also a bit crumbly, which makes no sense. Still, the flavor was good. Probably won't buy them again unless there is a big sale. ;)

Torpedoes !
The Cargo line is quite good. I've had several different sizes. All have been of good quality and were really enjoyable. BUT I don't know what it is about torpedoes but somehow it makes it even better.

Terrible!!!
Worse cigar I've ever smoked! Terribly rolled and bad draw and a horrible burn... Wouldn't recommend these to anyone...

Nice surprise!
Frankly, I was expecting a "low end" flavor and burn. But, to my pleasant surprise, this stick burned very evenly, slow, and held on to the ash very well. The flavor was consistent throughout at about a mild to medium range. Very well worth the price if you are looking for that everyday smoke.

Only had a couple, but was actually very pleased with the overall performance and flavor of this cigar! I thought I would use them as handouts to the ocasional cigar smoker, but I may dive in and smoke some more!

The band is what holds it together, sometimes, not so well really.
I was excited to receive them, budget friendly and Rocky Patel. I even expedited the order. Just as soon as I got them they went right into the humidor. Fast forward 9 days, 23 hrs, and 59 min. My excitement ended as I pulled it from the plastic wrapper.. It unraveled in my hands, FAST! I thought oh, maybe they need more time in the humidor. I reluctantly waited another 3 days. Number two did the same thing. Before I could cut it, it was unraveling at both ends. Finally, the fourth one made it to the cutter and I was able to light one up.. Hurray! not for long though. Same issue all over again. Why me? I checked my hydrometer/thermometer, all good, 70/70. I also purchased another sampler and smoked each one without any issues. I saved the remaining RP Cargos for last. Still the same problem. I ended up with about 5-6 that would hold together, at least until I removed the band. Bottom line: never again.

Robust Smoke
Just like the name, this cargo of Robust Rocky Patel smokes is well worth the money. I felt that it was a great value as the cigar produced exciting flavor such as leather, wheat, and hints of chocolate.

Can’t go wrong with Rocky Patel
The Cargo is a great go to cigar with a nice flavor and a good burn. Rocky Patel never disappoints.

Solid Smoke
RP Cargo is a solid smoke- on the mild side, nice burn, but as with all "sandwich" cigars I have smoked, pieces of tobacco were often in my mouth. Good value for the price.

Dried out cigars.....
Cigars were terrible. They were so dried out when I opened package that the leaves were falling off . When I used my punch on the first cigar it actually took a chunk out because it was so dry. Will have to think really hard about buying anything further from cigar international.

Not the normal rocky
Cigars get crooked when they are put in humidifier with proper humidity. I get these are at the lower end of his line but that should not happen.

Unimpressive
Most were rolled too tight to draw properly. Wrapper is very dry and disintegrates before you've finished smoking it. Pass.

Pretty Good Smoke
First time I bought a mixed filler cigars. The flavor is great but to me they’re a little on the mellow side for a medium body stick. The draw on mine is kind of tight and the head is nearly flat but I find myself using a cutter because the draw is tight for a punch. Great for the price though

Bad News
Terrible smoke. Rocky Patel should remove any association he has to this subpar cigar. From the poor construction to the overly earthy flavor (it’s like smoking dirt), it’s a cigar to avoid at all costs.

Rocky Patel Cargo Toro
These cigars are not a bad value for the money paid. They are pretty smooth and I consider it to be money well spent. I will purchase more.
2 out of 5
Not rolled very tight
I have smoked three of the cigars, one was good the other two not so great. While I like the flavor the cigars are not rolled very good. Squishy to the feel, not rolled tight and burn unevenly.

Rocky Patel Cargo
I recently purchased some Rocky Patel Cargo’s. These cigars are worthy to have the Rocky Patel name. They had a earthy smoke with no real character or substance. I do not recommend these cigars to anyone. I threw these cigars away, as it was.

Not Rocky's best
I agree with other reviewers, construction and burn are inconsistent on these cigars. Wrapper taste has a bit of bite, which I don't mind, but the overall smoke develops a harshness that becomes uncomfortable. Won't buy again.

So, so
Inconsistent construction and flavor. This is my second purchase. 1st wasn't bad, but I was not sure if I would purchase again. Thought I would give it a second try since the price was reasonable. 2nd purchase confirmed my doubts. If cigar did not have a Rocky Patel label, I would doubt that it was a Rocky. So, so flavor consistency, and construction. Most likely won't purchase again.

Very Disappointing
Very disappointing cigar. Since it had the Rocky Patel name thought I would give it a try especially given the cheap price. Do not waste your money on this product. You get what you pay for and this cigar matches the cheap price. I will put the remainder in my 3rd humidor and let it cure a little longer. Maybe that will help because it cannot hurt this cigar.

The flavor was ok. Nothing special. They were all poorly wrapped and fell apart in your mouth halfway through smoking them. These are not worthy of the Rocky Patel label.

Rocky P's home run
Had been a fan of RP. This is a great cigar offered with the PO Boy sampler. I mostly head to mild Connecticut wrapper. Good draw, burns well. As a health care professional in know a good cigar.

A bad change from the old Cargo
I remember the old cargos in their fancy little boxes that looked like packing crates. Those were pretty good. These new Cargos are a bitter disappointment. I do mean bitter. Totally different blend and not for the better. These and R4s are some of the worst I've had from Rocky- and I like most of his stuff. The only flavor these seem to have is dry bitter tobacco. Plenty of other options out there.
4 out of 5
Great cigar for the money
I've had much better Rocky Patels but for an inexpensive price this is a nice cigar. It it a little lightly wrapped so the draw is just ok but tastes good.

Online purchasing
For a very long time I had heard nothing but negative feedback concerning cigars purchased online. I have been buying cigars from CI for several years and from the first purchase to my last purchase I have had nothing short of 100% satisfaction with each and every purchase. The pricing certainly is part of the draw to start doing business but when you revive your order it solidifies your decision to deal with this company.

Great everyday stick
Rating based while keeping price point in mind. That being said, these have a wonderful flavor and nice smoke output. Has a mineral taste at the light, but quickly passed and replaced with earth and leather. Had to touch up on last third on the couple I've smoked , but more time in my humidor will likely help that. Will definitely buy again.

What can I say they are Rocky Patels.
1 out of 5
Exceptionally Bad Taste, Construction and Draw.
These are so appallingly bad - from the burn, to the flavor, to the construction - I can only come to the conclusion that they have been made from whatever leftover scraps were swept up from the cigar factory floor. I had high hopes due to the Rocky Patel name, but my trust was completely misplaced. After a few short puffs, I wanted to throw the cigar away, but stuck with it to give it a fair shake. The taste is sour and bitter from the start, and gets worse as you go along. The draw and burn are both inconsistent and the stick gets hot in your hand. If you must smoke them, I suggest using a punch cutter, as a guillotine cut will cause the end to fray and you will be picking little pieces of sour tobacco from your mouth. I am happy that I bought them, though - because if I they were gifted to me I would have serious reservations about my standing in the eyes of the person who bought them for me. Finally I have to address some of the other reviews I saw on here. How anyone could give these cigars more than 1 star is impossible for me to understand as these are without reservation among the worst cigars I have ever sampled.

Nice for the price and a cup of coffee !
really hard tip and some what dry but had an easy draw, hints of pepper with the first puffs. As you go thru the first 3rd of the cigar you get this mild creamy notes , enjoyable, very easy to retro-hale not harsh. first third will burn even while the second third will burn more in a wavy path , I have to note the wrapper has very noticeable veins to the eye and touch. Overall I enjoyed this one, and for the price I dont mind not really having the time to smoke it all. For me this was more of a morning cup of coffee to pair with.

Blue in the face trying to draw
By far the hardest draw I have ever had in a cigar, even a draw poker could not improve it. Which is unfortunate because what little bit of smoke I was able to get was flavorful. The construction is poor and the burn is extremely uneven I must say I expected more from Rocky Patel even at this price.

This is the second time
This is the second time I ordered them and they are always difficult to draw. Not a bad cigar and I thought the first time was the flu but the second batch is the same.

A good, if unspectacular cigar. Good for routine smoking and relaxing.

Thought I would try these as they were a Rocky unknown brand. What a great find.

Excellent everyday stogie
PR's entire lineup of Cargo branded cigars are excellent for your everyday smoke. Generallly mild with a tangy flavor. They smoke well with few build issues. I buy the Robusto's and Toros - not much different to smoke but you get more with the Toros.

My opinion Rocky Patel is by far the best. Very happy with the purchase

Avoid
Huge disappointment. I wonder if they pad every sampler with these duds so they can get rid of them? Tight draw and a drugstore flavor when you finally do get some smoke through them. Such a shame because I'm a big RP fan.

Avoid
HUGE RP fan. These, however, look, taste and feel like something you would buy at 7-11. The tip tastes like it was dipped in sugar, the burn is horrible and it is VERY loosely rolled. Not up to any RP standard, so I am shocked and disappointed.

Not a fan of this Rocky
Burned well and smelled great but I did not enjoy the taste. Not looking forward to the other 3 in the 5 pack I bought.

Rocky Patel Cargo Robusto - a very good smoke for a very good price.
I've ordered these on 3 different occasions, they are a very good smoke for a reasonable price. The other thing I really like about these is their size, just enough to have a relaxing smoke with a couple of drinks.

Ok, hit of miss with the 20 pack but I only bought them as my "mow the lawn" and not late night relax cigar.

Doesn't split as others have said, must be a bad batch now an then, mine we're excellent in construction and wrapper was tight.

The Price Is Right
Good cigars for the price. A few were tightly rolled making it challenging to smoke but overall it was a good smoke

Rocky Patel Cigars
My husband was disappointed in the last order of cigars he received.. Half of the cigars burned uneven and he had to keep cutting the ends off.. He felt they were a little dry this time

Not quite worthy of the Rocky Patel moniker
When I see Rocky Patel's name on a cigar, I just tend to raise my expectations a bit. This one just didn't quite meet the expectations, however, and was a letdown. Wouldn't be a bad lawn-mowing smoke, I guess, but I just don't equate Rocky Patel cigars with 'lawn mowing smokes'. Frequently found soft spots in the toro-size Cargo cigars I purchased, and had some burn problems. Taste was somewhat like dried grass clippings maybe? I believe I can get more for my money elsewhere, and will not be buying these again. You may very well like them - seems many do.

A Mild Smoke
My wife just quit smoking cigarettes and is now stealing my cigars. I bought the RP Cargo just to see if she would like it. She did, so now I order several bundles every month to keep her out of my premiums.

Great Value
Rated so high because this is a great smoke for the money. I smoke value cigars and premium cigars, and this is one of the best 'value' cigars I've found. It burns sort of fast, but not hot, has a decent flavor and a good option for fishin', workin' in the yard, etc...

Great everyday cigar! Not the absolute best Rocky cigar ever, but still, at this price point you can't beat it. Great flavor, no burn issues, a good solid smoke. Nubbed a few of em clear down to my fingertips. I will definitely be ordering more.
Great everyday cigar!

A little harsh when first lite but gets better towards the middle. The last 1/3 of the cigar is also harsh.

Great bargain price cigars
Great bargain price cigars. Good enough for an everyday smoke and not too bad to share with friends. Relatively even and consistent, with a hint of strength at the end.

An ok cigar
This was an ok cigar not at all what I expected from Rocky. Good for a cheap smoke but still there are a lot I would like better. Any other RP would be better but for the price I paid it was a good deal.

You get what you pay for...
...and then some with this cigar. Well constructed, good draw. Great little hit of extra flavor about 2/3 of the way through. A very nice every day cigar, I like it in the evening with an after dinner coffee. Consistent quality throughout the bundle, which can be a problem at this price point. Nice stick, right price, no complaints.

Re.reviewing For A Fair Shake
I have to give these sticks a fair shake. I was a little had on them back in August when they had not been in my humidor for very long. After a couple months, the earlier noted problems went up in smoke! The draw came into line, the cracking and swelling of the wrappers stopped happening. They became a much better smoke than when i reviewed them with only a few weeks of aging. This, in my mind, is an excellent, mild to medium smoke for the money. A slight pepper taste comes into the last couple inches, making for a good finish. A great value for the money and I will definitely reorder.

Yeah, great cigar for the money. Mild yet flavorful, a good every day kind of smoke. I like to mix my flavors, and this one is a good one for the mix. And, you don't have to take out a second mortgage on the house to buy them.

This one really surprised me. Excellent smoke with a great flavor. Smokes slow. Great value for the price of this stick.

Utter disappointment
What a disappointment! From cracked and fraying wrappers so thin as to be fragile to even the slightest tough to holes and cracks in the binder, these cigars may have been among the worst I have ever smoked. Seriously. Out of a five pack, only one -- yep, just one -- was smokeable without issue. One more could be smoked. And three? Three were complete trash. Stay away.

Patel's Cargo
This is a good cigar, but at times it is tough to draw. This may be because the "roll" seems a bit tight on many of the cigars. It also gets a bit harsh tasting at the end, but I tend to smoke my 'gars to the last possible puff. Otherwise a good "gar for the price".

Got What I Paid For
Well, I thought the recent sale price was too good to be true for a Rocky Patel stick. I was right. I rate this cigar just o.k. at best. I have had to trash a couple because my garage shop vac couldn't even get them to draw! Very inconsistent construction. One is packed so tight you couldn't drive a nail into it, the next is great. One draws nicely, the next is like drawing on a brick. Overall the taste is good, nice medium body smoke. Overall I find these to be extremely average.

All of the great taste and quality you would expect from a Rocky Patel at a modestly priced, great smoking cigar
Customer Testimonials
I bought this when they were on sale for $24.99 and I tell you, these are the best I've smoked in awhile. Smoking one as we speak. 5/5 stars; no flaws.
This cigar has taken me by storm. It is my cigar of choice and beat out the RP Vint series for bang for the buck and honestly I love the smooth flavor and even smoke all the way to the end that it gives. My top 2.
These aren't good - even for the $40 promo price. Very bland taste and super-difficult to draw. My recommendation, spend your money on a quality cigar instead of quantity like I did. Basically any RP (besides this) would be a safe bet.
Picked up a mazo of these for cheap on a CI special. Wish I'd bought more. They are actually a good smoke - and better than some high-priced "premium" cigars. They are consistent in burn and flavor - the last third is the best. You can smoke 'em all the way to the end.
Pretty new stick smoker here and I ordered the Cargos to try and I can't get enough of them. Just ordered 20 more of the Churchills. I know they are backordered, but I don't care. Well worth the wait. I just hope they have more at a later date. Thanks CI.
I've bought these a bunch of times and have never been disappointed. You really can't beat them for the price. I compare them to Garo Double Habano or Maduro and Arganese Maduro. Great smokes for a couple of bucks per stick.
I've bought in the hundreds by now and have only had 1/2 dozen that were a problem. Then it was a thin wrapper and I continued to smoke until the binder came apart. A great everyday walking my dog and morning coffee smoke.
I bought a bundle for cold weather smokes. I've done it before with other brands and have learned you get what you pay for. These were a bit "harsh" for what is described as a medium cigar. Normally love the RP brand, especially a Decade with a nice scotch. I dumped half the Cargo's for taste, burn and overall quality. I'm done with economy cigars. If I want one or two a month in the winter, I'd rather keep a few good ones in the humidor. Just personal preference.
I smoke about 3 cigars when playing golf 4 times per week. Thus I look for the deals. And for $2 per stick I have not found anything better. I love the RP Cargo.
When I received them, the cigars had a pleasant smell and were well constructed. When I lit it up, immediately it had a pleasant smell and taste. The burn throughout the smoke was very even and had an excellent draw. The flavor changed about 3 times during the cigar but each flavor had pleasant tastes. I'd say they fit into a medium flavor category. Good rich flavor but not intense at all. I smoked it all the way to the end and it was still providing a consistent draw, burn, and taste. I've just finished my last one and can honestly say this is one of the better cigars I have ever smoked and at a hell of a bargain. Overall, I'd say this is an excellent cigar, not surprising since it's made by Rocky Patel and will most definitely be smoking more of them soon and will buy again in the future.
Awesome daily smoke! Got the Robusto on sale for $25 and couldn't be happier! Great price for a good cigar! Not the greatest I ever had but flavorful easy draw and no burn issues. I have smoked 10 of them so far so maybe I will have some of the issues mentioned but so far none.
Always liked RP, not too keen on Edge, love series 92 and 90. No long filler, so really small cut off cap. For $1 each, was not planning on liking this. RP in a Cuban sandwich with cigar clippings? Didn't need to worry. This has turned out to be one of my favorite everyday cigars.... I can live off these...waiting for another sale. Must stock up, my humidor can hold it. For those who haven't tried this, do yourself a flavor. Pun intended. Delicious flavor, not a harsh bite, didn't taste as peppery as I'd feared. Medium body, not too heavy. Good for morning coffee to eod. Best all around cigar to date. Thanks for the intro, guys.
Not too happy with these. Smoke fast and taste like a camp fire. Even after 2 weeks in the humidor.
There is a hint of flavor, but the tight draw is not worth the effort. I am always on the search for a good bargain cigar - these are not my taste.
I don't normally write reviews, but feel compelled to on this one. I tried because I am a fan of the Rocky Patel and was very interested in seeing if a cigar of this price would be good. I am impressed! I bought a punch based on the reviews I read and have used it on each cigar I smoked. Each one I have smoked has been a very pleasant experience. I have had none of the negative things people have complained about. While this is not my favorite cigar, it is definitely one I will keep in my humidor. It smokes like a much more expensive cigar. It is a very good smoke and at this price, I don't see how it can be beat.
This was a much better cigar than I had anticipated! Sometimes when you buy a "bargain" stogie, that's just what you get. This gem was not like that at all. For the price, this was a really tasty cigar. It only covered around 5 holes out on the course, so you better pack a couple to get through all 18. Happy smoking!
great cigar for the money its nice smooth taste to it not bad for a 30-45 min cigar when im on computer or even out for a drive in my van i even watch my favoite shows ive smoked 38 of them have 2 left i would hand them out to friends and i will buy again
Eh, not impressed. I was gifted a couple of these by a buddy, glad I didn't pay for them. I mean, they're not terrible but to me they're not great either. Now I suppose I'm a little skewed because I normally go for FULL cigars so of course the flavor wasn't what I really wanted but this just didn't impress me at all. I mean it's a cigar but nothing to write home about. I guess if you're walking the golf course & looking for something to burn that you won't care if you have to toss then this isn't too bad.
Just an irrating cigar ! Dosen't smoke properly and has no flavor ! if you want an inexpensive cigar that delivers decent burn and flavor I suggest the Black OPs . Consistantly good and a great smoke for the money !
These things are my favorite smoke yet. They taste great, smell good and draw easily. CI has Cargo as a "must go" or clearance/closeout all the time, but I'm hoping they keep hanging around.
Not a great cigar, certainly not up to RP standard, hence the cheap price....
Another few week in the humi and it just keeps getting better... Don't want to rave on, just came to say... " It's a no brainer" I just ordered some more and will keep these new bundles in my big box for later. Truly a premium flavor without breaking the bank. As for the few complaints I've read... Well I smoked a Cao Flathead...Perdomo Noir...and an edge in the last week that gave me a few bits towards the end, but none of the were as affordable as these with as much flavor. Thanks again CI
OK Y'all its been about a month...26 days.. And I'm back with a another report on these good tasting stogies. habano toro.. I have previously read ...bits in your mouth ...wrapper or other problems.. Shared one with a friend last night and neither stick had such problems. Yes this is a Cuban sandwich cigar but I have many in my box made this way including Perdomo... PI.. SOSA and other premiums. If you want the flavor of a expensive stick without the expense " This is one for you" . this cigar starts off with a nice spice or light pepper moving towards a creamy sweetness while holding onto the spice. Never a lingering aftertaste but a solid finish with every puff. A must as a everyday yargar or for those of you that want an affordable, flavorful experience. This is still one I will keep in my box.
Toro Habano - few weeks in the box and I have enjoyed it to the nub. Came to post a review and did not experience any of the problems posted. I clipped the end, and had NO problems with wrapper, bits or draw. Maybe because of the Habano or maybe the humi ... Just ordered a mazo of these and will post again in a few weeks.
Never been disappointed with any RP before now. I gave Cargo three chances and each attempt provided a smoke that was very difficult to draw, hard to keep lit, with little taste. I am giving the remainder ( 17 ) to people I do not know.
These are fantastic at the price for an everyday smoke. Will buy more of these.
Not your typical Rocky Patel but a great daily smoke. I purchased 2 mazo's (40 Churchills) on sale and they burned well, had a great draw and were more on the mild side than medium strength; somewhere in between. I would buy them again at $30/mazo. Strongly recommend that the cigars be punched rather than cut since the tobacco is loosely wrapped which makes for a great draw but also can produce a mouth full of clipping. A solid "B-" which isn't bad at all for the money.
These are great. I'm about half way through my first mazo, and I getting ready to order two more. No draw or burn issues, has aged well (I put them in the fridge-a-dor and accidentally forgot about them for three months), and taste pretty good. I like to smoke these while I am driving my truck and cannot devote complete attention to smoking. Never had a single cutting issue...just clip and light. Good tasty cheap stick.
I got a 5-pack in toro size for almost nothing (guess where). I was pleasantly surprised. The draw and burn were both perfect (I used a punch instead of cutter). The flavor was very similar to the Alec Bradley American Sun Grown. Kinda woody with nothing objectionable but nothing that really stands out. I was expecting this cigar to bust apart or do something weird since it's mixed filler but nothing like that happened. in fact, I smoked it down to the nub, which is rare for me even with much spendier cigars.
Don't waste your money!! I am disappointed every time I attempt to smoke one of these for the box I bought. Problems range from uneven burning, draw extremely hard, will not stay lit, and taste nasty, I have tried using a V cut, punch cut, and regular cut and have had them in my humidor for a couple weeks, hoping that would help. I am a huge Rocky Patel fan, but hope they are ashamed of putting their name and reputation on these.
I love Rocky Patel cigars, but I'm not a fan of the Cargo line, at least not the torpedo size that I bought. The problem I had was the draw. The first one was acceptable, but the next 2 or 3 had to be chunked. I decided to give them some time in the humidor, but that did not help. I finally figured out that cutting it just below the label helped on some of them. Out of my bundle of 20, I would say that maybe 10 were good without intervention, 5 were salvageable, and 5 were thrown out within a few minutes. Sorry Rocky, I hate it as much as you do.
At this price it's really not fair to complain about the quality or lack thereof of this cigar. As suggested, punch, don't cut. Otherwise you'll get a mouthful of tobacco clippings. There isn't much to say about the flavor profile because there really isn't one. A low end cigar that reaps the benefits of having the name RP behind it. In my opinion there are a lot better low end smokes out there that blow this one away.
I got real lucky and picked up 40 Toro's for $39.95. All I can say is wish I had bought 80. I smoked the last one the other day and now sniff, sniff gone too soon.....
Last night I had my third RP Cargo toro grande ... the first two had a very easy draw, had a light white pepper taste on the tongue which made them interesting and made me wonder what cigar the tobacco came from ... I saw in one description that the tobacco was clippings from the 15th Decade ... The first one I clipped and it held together well but after 4 inches the bits of tobacco started coming out in my mouth, so the second one I punched and had no loose tobacco at all ... very good smoke and draw ... the one I had last night did start unraveling/flaking about half way through which was annoying, but still I continued to like the smoke ... mild to medium. I don't know why, but the single toro size I've had did not seem to have the strength, the toro grande has had ... was very mild.
I thought I had put up a review of these, but maybe it was only on the banter. This is based on only a couple of the toro grande, and one of the toros. Both of the first, had a nice white pepper undertaste which continued all throughout the cigar that helped keep my interest. Both were nicely rolled, no burn issues, the draw was easy with lots of smoke volume, but with a lightness to it ... because it is mixed filler, it did not hold the ash for long, but that was no problem with me, just keep it in the ashtray and tap it. The first one I used a guillotine cutter, and had only started having problems with getting clippings/loose tobacco in my mouth after 4 inches were gone ... no big deal. The second one, I used a punch and it performed flawlessly. I don't like real spicy cigars, so as I said, the toro grande is mild to medium with just enough spice to keep things interesting. Really liked the cigar for it's price and performance, very much unlike any other RP I've had (somewhere I saw a write up which said they use the clippings/leftover tobacco from the 15th Anniversary cigar for this. The one toro that I've had performed well but was so mild I barely tasted anything ... now this is only one cigar and that was straight off the truck without any humi time. I doubt that it would change much, but I could be wrong. I am surprised that the toro would differ at all in flavor from the toro grande. Again, both sizes performed well, having excellent construction, in my limited experience with them.
Well I recently tried a Cargo cigar, its was actually pretty good. It's not a cigar I would pass out for black tie affair, but its great for the golf course, poker game, or Friday night party. This is a great middle of the road cigar that I will always have on stand by in my humidor. I do suggest that you use a punch instead of a cutter, they seem to mess up a bit with a cutter but this may just have been me or my cutter.
I feel blessed to have got a box of these for a real bargain $39:99. After ordering them I was reading some mixed reviews on other sites and was wondering how these were going to turn out to be. Well I need not have worried, just as all of Rocky's other fine offerings these were no disapointment. Right from the doorstep I eagerly opened the box and disapeared outside with my cutter, lighter and cigar. I had read there some mixed fillers in amongst the long filler in these cigars, so I was carefull when clipping the end to only clip it about half of the diameter. This cigar lit easily, had a nice easy draw, burnt perfectly for about 45 minutes of tasty pleasure. Rocky scores again, these are a fine cigar especially for the price I paid. As a bonus the box is pretty neat as well.
