Allow me to introduce La Antiguedad, the second box-pressed line from Pepin Garcia and My Father cigars. Meaning 'The Antiquity,' La Antiguedad joins Flor de las Antillas as a representation of the Garcia family's Cuban heritage. Once a Cuban brand, La Antiguedad utilizes the original box artwork, and employs a traditional blend of Cuban-seed tobaccos to create yet another masterpiece from the hands of Pepin Garcia.
An expertly blended selection of unique tobaccos were used to create La Antiguedad. A slightly reddish-hued Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Oscuro wrapper blankets a double Nicaraguan binder, one Criollo the other Corojo. Inside, a collection of Nicaraguan tobaccos from three prominent growing regions. Aged a minimum of three and a half years, these tobaccos produce a very complex, yet smooth medium to full-bodied profile, and yields notes of cocoa, coffee, leather and a touch of pepper.
My Father La Antiguedad received a well-deserved 91-rating noting: "This box-pressed cigar is a strong and hearty smoke full of baker's chocolate, roasted coffee beans and earth, but balanced by floral sweetness."
Very nice, creamy light chocolate is the best I can describe with the super toro. Nice spice on the retrohale. Didn't feel big strength, but like the big flavor. I prefered the larger super toro to the other vitolas, long lasting and right in my sweet spot. I noticed that you can't smoke these fast, these are a time investment if you truly want to enjoy em. The longer they've been sitting, the better they smoke. Excellent blend.
Good cigar. However, not as good as the Flor de Las Antillas. And for the same price I'll stick with them.
Tried the new offering, thought it lacked the usual Pepin attention to detail. The flavor profile was very bland considering his last couple offerings such as the El Centurian or Flor de las Antilles. I had trouble keeping it burning evenly. I have a couple more in the humidor that I'll let rest a while longer and hopefully they'll smoke true. Still Don Pepin's biggest fan.
Strong but very flavorful & complex. Had to relight a couple of times but we'll worth it. Very good smoke!
Well what can I say Don Pepin Garcia has released another gem into the cigar industry. It's hard these days to pick and choose cigars because there is such an abundance of different blends out there and it seems like new cigars are being released every day. The La Antiguedad is a beautifully hand crafted cigar. I don't know what looks better the cigar or the band. I would call this cigar full bodied and flavored. It is really such an experience to smoke this cigar. My Fathers Cigars is one of the most noteworthy cigar manufacturers these days. Definitely give these cigars a try. You will not be disappointed it is sooo smooth and flavorful.
Amazing! Light one up and hold on. Draw was perfect and held an ash all the way to the label.
Wonderful loads of rich, creamy, strong smoke are the first thing I noticed about my first experience...very bold...only trouble I had was that I had to constantly touch up the burn...this puppy canoed quicker that Hiawatha...I will assume I got an anomaly. Very good on taste and buzz...50ft Jesus says...AMEN
Disclaimer: Not for the faint of heart!! Proceed with caution. The usual Pepin top notch quality. Peppery and strong at the start. Smoother as you smoke on, but the strength is undeniable. Ive enjoyed a few so far, but you have to be ready for this one. Absolute powerhouse, IMHO.
