A gi-normous closeout offer on a lovely calm handmade. As I sit here pounding the keyboard like a gorilla on a Samsonite, I am reminded what a solid closeout deal this is, and one that is flying out of here at a feverish clip. La Diferencia Cubana was a private label brand formerly made by the well-regarded Hendrik Kelner (and current maker of such brands as Davidoff and AVO). This was a gem of a cigar albeit a pricey one. But now it’s on the chopping block....and CI is swinging the battle axe with furious abandon, delivering 60% savings in bunches. Featuring a silky Nicaraguan sun grown wrapper and filler blend of Cuban-seed tobaccos, La Diferencia Cubana delivers a flavorful, creamy, smooth mellow to medium-bodied blend. At these clearance prices, mellow-medium fans are gonna love this deal.
This is a great everyday cigar. I was surprised how well made they are and how well they burn. Nice mellow flavor you can smoke to the nub.
The La Diferencia Cubana is a great tasting cigar. Construction is perfect and burns evenly. The flavor leaves a very satisfying taste on the palate. This cigar is very smooth too. It's a great cigar at a very good price. This one flew under the radar. I'm glad I bought a box of these delicious cigars.
Nice everyday smoke, lights and burns well, an even smoke right to the nub.
Great tasting cigar with a medium-bodied finish.
I have the cigar in mouth right now. The cigar isn't the prettiest on earth, it has a few flaws, but at this price you hardly complain, knowing you scored big on a diamond in the rough. Light to Med light body, not very complex. Flavors of sweet green tea, hay, and Dominican purity come through. Smells sweet like green tea before lighting. This cigar is worth every penny. Do not pass it by, I might order the remaining stock before you do. My rating out of ten for this cigar for Value Taste Construction and Impressions? 9/10. Aint no big brand, but it sure is one hell of an amazing stick.
I have always enjoyed a mild cigar, and these Cubanas are excellent. Will continue to buy them every month.
Perfect daily smoker! Burns good, nice mild taste and consistent.
I tried a wheel of 30 of these cigars. I am on the 10th cigar and I find them to be uniform in smoking quality. Nice taste, no bite and good aroma. I suspected they were not long filler because they felt a little soft and not too fully packed. So I stripped one down. Sure as smoke they were mixed filler. Some long some short but they are still a solid smoke and they stay lit and burn smooth. Relax with them and don't hot box them while drawing in the smoke. If they are still available in the future I would buy another wheel. I may even buy more soon.
I just got a wheel of these today ,they taste great for a milder cigar, right outta the box!I wonder what they`ll be like after some time in the humi.As for little pieces of tabacco in my mouth I used a punch cutter so no problem there.I am a full flavor smoker but these are a nice change of pace .Great for all the yard work comming ,they burn a bit fast but I got the 8"ers good for about a hour or so.CI ya did it again ,found a great cheapie, with a good taste!!
lackluster quality and flavor... The wrapper was thin and veiny, I was not impressed by anything but the price, will not try again.... For my money I would stick with Victor Sinclair Connecticut......far better wrappers and taste
I truly wish I could say a good word about this cigar but I don't lie ....I know this cigar was a low price and that's about the best thing about it I tend to wright good reviews or none at all. Here goes the first one was so tight I just gave up the second one, Third one ,and forth one all burnt one sided and curled up so I just gave up on this brand . But I won't give up on CI they are a great company and I purchase from them often, I love their samples a great way to sample a brand your interested in without buying the whole box or bundle also there name brands are priced right to ENJOY YOUR SMOKE !
The packaging and presentation is nice but the cigars are mushy dog rockets with no flavor or any other real redeeming quality. I smoked the first box of the 2-fer, but couldn’t tell you when or where as each time I lit up, it was as uneventful and unmemorable as the last time--vaguely remember spitting lots of little brown bits out. Note to self: “traditional Cuban sandwich cigar” translates from Cataloguese to English as, “Chipped up brown confetti formerly known as tobacco.” This was the only purchase I have made from CI that I regretted. Gave (pushed) the second box onto an unsuspecting friend. Do yourself a favor, spend the money you would have on the 2-fer of these and get a box of La Auroras or any one of the many decent boxes of cigars CI carries—trust me, you will be much happier.
Good flavor, but rolled too loosely.
Wonderful even burning, creamy mild cigar! Mild all the way through - no harsh peppery aftertaste. Just a bit sweet and delightful. I will buy more for sure!
For the money this is an excellent every day cigar! Good flavor that compares to the more expensive brands! I will certainly order again! James in LA
Had one right out of the box. Not the best construction, but clean burn. Excellent value to share with friends or an everyday.
Thought I'd pair this up with a single malt like Ardbeg and I got to say this was a good choice. Lots of smoke and I think this is absolutely a home run. It really pairs well with the scotch and for about the some price. Definitely worth the investment. Good job CI! Thanks.
Excellent cigar, at a very low price. Love it.
I have been wondering about these for some time now. Finally bought some. A certain sweetness in the aroma, its very nice. Mild, huge amounts of smoke, burns well and pretty even, tastes pretty decent. They are very spongy feeling but well constructed. if you take your time with it, it won't crush down between your fingers. I like them.
I got two of these in the Po'Boy sampler II. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Spent a month in the humidor before smoking the first. Smooth mild smoke. Some coffee/earthiness in it. For the price, this will be an excellent everyday smoke for some. Ensure it spends some time in the humidor first after arrival (at least a week or 2).
Not a bad cigar for the price. Great for golf, yard work or a quick smoke. The only drawback, pieces of tobacco in your mouth almost every time you draw.
This was my first box of cigars I bought when I started getting into cigars when I was 18. To be honest at first they were very good. Too mild with a weak draw. After 7 months in my humidor I started to try them again and they were amazing. Very distinct earthy taste with a draw as smooth as butter!! Being a cheap cigar, just give it the time to mature in your humidor and you will be amazed.
Got these back when they were about 30 bucks for a box of 20. Nice little ''everyday smokes''. You get what you pay for really, Mine were not wrapped the best but its not really a big problem with the price I paid. Taste is pretty good its very mild but not a lot of nuances of flavors, Mostly tobacco and the occasional hit of white pepper. Overall good bargain smoke.
These cigars draw nicely and taste good. Very mild. However, part of the reason they draw nicely is that they're short filler cigars. If you smoke them down to the nub, be prepared to spit out tobacco chunks.
I ordered the Presidente version of these and i was impressed with the size of these cigars..(8X50). The first one i smoked had a very nice aroma and lasted a good 3 hours. it kinda had notes of coffee and roasting almonds aroma. These cubanas are well worth the cost, but are just a bit too mild for me as are other light colored wrapper cigars. I usually purchase Maduro wrapped cigars for the stronger and bolder flavor and aroma, but i couldn't pass up the great deal offered on these by CI.
I bought a bundle of the Presidente size in order to have a fairly long-lasting cigar for the front porch on a summer day. My first impression was favorable, the cigar looks pretty good with a very light wrapper. Construction isn't as top-notch as cigars costing nearly five bones each, but I didn't expect it to be. Other than an occasional soft spot, though, the cigar is pretty fair. I did find that it's better to use a punch than to use a guillotine due to the loose bits from some of the shorter filler. All in all these are decent, mild cigars. A little time in the humidor will only make them better. I believe I got my money's worth!
The draw on the torpedo sucks, or more accurately...doesn't suck enough. Taste is OK. What you expect from this ilk of cigar. Pleasant enough but certainly not spectacular in an way. Really a toss up between these, 1876 Reserve, and all other manner of cheap mild cigars. They have their place as a perhaps a morning smoke, or an in betweener that you might let go out after 2 or 3 inches, Buy these if they are cheap and you know you're getting just a decent quite mild beater cigar
This is a very good mild cigar. The construction and draw is good, and it burns evenly. If you were a fan of the 5 Star brand (before they changed the blend and ruined it) you'll really like this cigar. There are occasional blemishes on the wrapper but for the price you can't go wrong.
I love these and the price is right on. I mostly enjoy a mild and mellow smoke. I love my Cinco Vega golds, my Rocky Connecticuts and my Olivias and these La Diferencias are very close in flavor, burn and draw at half the price. The 8 inch presidentes are long lasting and pure bliss right to the finger frying end.
OUTSTANDING cigar for the price. I love my 5 vegas and Rockys. These La Differencia Cubanas stand up favorably to both. I've smoked several and all were consistent as far as flavor, draw and burn go. I might even like these better than some of my Rockys and at half the price. La Differencias are a HOME RUN and reasonable enought to burn on a regular basis.
An outstanding deal!I have been a cigar smoker for 12 years and, have often spent 3 times this $ on cigars not nearly this good!I only buy from CI, you guys are on it....thanks
A very mild yet tasty smoke. Excellent price for 20. Cu Avana watch out. Very similiar except the Cubana does not have the lemony taste of the Cu Avana. This cigar is not for those who like a full bodied powerhouse.
Quite a nice, if a bit mild, cigar. Well made, easy draw, even burn, pleasant flavour. I'm usually not much of a mild cigar smoker, often having a Gurkha Triple Ligero with my early morning coffee, but this one is different. Enough flavour to be interesting and not at all over powering. A very nice cigar. Would I pay retail for it? Not for an instant! But the CI price makes it a bargain.
I've been smoking cigars for less than a year but in that time I have smoked quite a few different brands, strengths and sizes. Like a lot of other CI customers I purchased a box of La Diferencia Cubana Robustos while they were on one of Joe's Daily Deals. I was not disappointed. I truly enjoy these cigars. They are smooth but with a tasty flavor. The ash holds on for about an inch or more so you know it is well constructed. For all you newbies to cigars this is one you can trust. For those that are regular cigar smokers (and becoming one) you know you can rely on this La Diferencia Cubana - it's made by Hendrik Kelner maker of Davidoff and AVO - what's not to like???? Thanks CI.
I scooped up a box of robustos (La Diferencia Cubana) on the recent special- they're nice cigars, I'm very satisfied with 'em. Thumbs up
Wow! What else can be said?( La Diferencia Cubana ) I got the Robusto's on last week's sale and I enjoyed my first one today after sitting in the humidor a couple days. What a wonderful hour spent this morning with my paper out on the deck. This beauty was smooth, and finished great. Thanks for a great deal on a fine smoke.
Since these were "the deal of the week" last week, and I've been looking for something short and mild for a daily smoke, I decided to give 'em a try. What a nice surprise! My standard week-end and after-dinner puros are Reyes "Indios 2003 Presidentes" and RP's "ITC Super Fuertes", and these tasty little La Diferencia's fill the daily gap perfectly. Well constructed, smooth burning, with a very easy finish. Perfect after work, out on the boat, or just waxing the car. Thanks CI ... you guys really know how to pick a winner. Every time!
I smoked one of these right out of the box, La Diferencia Cubana and it wasn't bad. I let the rest age in my humidor for about 3 or 4 weeks and they are great. Nothing I'd have with a single malt, but a very solid everyday smoke.
I ordered a box of La Diferencia Cubana's and they are most certainly nice smoke. Very smooth, hint of pepper and leather with thick plumes of smoke. Definitely a keeper! They should age nicely (if you can wait that long).
I tried these cause they were onsale. You know what they were excellent. I decided on the churchills. I dont smoke often but these are changing that fact. I am still trying out cigars to find my favorites, these la differencia cubana's just made my short list. I recommend to anyone who likes a mild to moderate taste. Thanks CI for the great prices and opening my eyes to new flavors!!!!
I have this friend at work who loves a mild smoke so I shared a token from my newly aquired box (La Diferencia Cubana) and we went out back to see which way the wind was blowin. I know that smile of satisfaction when I see it! The draw is almost a little too good as this churchill smokes up quickly. This may be resolved by a little more time in my humidor before the next cigar. The entire smoke is mild and mellow from start to finish and like a well layed satin sheet there is not a wrinkle in it! Truely a bargain!
