Like father, like son. Jaime (pronounced Hi-may) Garcia is the son of Don Pepin Garcia, and an integral member of the family business. He's worked side-by-side with Pepin for years and has had in hands in a number of projects. But now, he's got his own eponymous brand - blended entirely solo. Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial utilizes a dark, oily Broadleaf maduro wrapper paired with a rich blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers with tobaccos from some of the Garcia family's farms. It's on the fuller side, but smooth and layered with notes of espresso, pepper, earth, and cedar. A tasty, well-made stick that will make the old man proud. Burn one of these, and you'll experience the artisanal skill of this family history.Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial received a well-deserved 90-point rating, noting: "Even though this dark, near-veinless robusto is solid to the touch, it draws wonderfully, leaving full-bodied notes of pepper, wine oak and coffee bean flavors on the palate."
I'm starting to believe that the Garcia family make the best cigars on the market. If we base this on full body smokes they win hands down. The Jamie Garcia is no exception and has a place at the top out of the many cigars I have smoked. The even burn, fantastic draw, and abundance of smoke, make this a superior cigar and a must try. While it is full body, the flavor is so great that I think smokers of milder cigars just may enjoy these as well.
Best damn cigar in the world!
Nice smoke. I had to keep lighting the cigar but overall a good cigar. Nice and meaty flavor.
A consistently pleasurable smoke. Even burn, great aroma, easy draw. Pairs well with single malt scotch, but especially tasty with a good American rye whiskey. Don Pepín Garcia should be proud of his son. Their brand is in good hands whenever the Don decides to retire.
I love the Super Gordo (5.7"x66). I've been thru 3 boxes and just pulled my 4th out of deep slumber in the rear of my humidor. Very smooth smoke that lasts a long time with great flavor. Draw is great and every one I've had burned straight and true with almost never a need to correct. I'll be looking for the next time these come up on a deal and grab a couple boxes again. While these have an open head, they need a slight clip to open them up a bit.
What a pleasant surprise. I was was really impressed with the draw and the taste of pepper and cream which gives it a smooth taste. I didn't have to spit the taste out. The strength and full body of the Jaime Garcia Reserve had me surprisingly relaxed. Im saving room in my humidor for this one! Reggie, Long Beach, California
Can't get enough of them. I'll keep these in my humidor at all time, but not to share. You should do the same.
What a great cigar! Not going to do any comparisons as this stick holds up very well on its own. Goes great with my Chivas 18yr. If you want a full flavor cigar that won't have you reaching for an oxygen mask after you finish smoking then this the cigar for you. Excellent cigar...Excellent!
I have smoked cigars for a long time and had many excellent sticks but this beats them all. Velvety smooth, rich in flavor and flawlessly constructed. This smoke has taken its place as my absolute favorite cigar. I can't speak highly enough of it. Thank you, massive cudos to Mr. Garcia and many thanks to CI.
The robusto was contemplative and rumative. Like others, I think this one is best enjoyed with food and/or spirits. It was particularly well-matched with a bit of venison sausage and a dose of Mr. Walker's amber restorative (black). Tastings included pepper, moist sod, tobacco, burnt chocolate, cherry stems/pits, and toast. This cigar has a particularly pleasing heft and feel that is difficult to describe. It was clearly the effort of much love and attention. I am very, very impressed.
The Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial robusto is a very smooth smoke-- no harshness at all. I don't think it was that strong, but it was loaded with great maduro tobacco flavor.
What you have here is a cigar with a Cherry Bomb explosion of full flavor. My large humidor has several brands that are not for those who like mild/medium cigars. For example; Diesel, Bareknuckle, Edge, My Father, Punisher, etc. Even so, I believe this is the strongest cigar I have ever smoked. After the first few puffs I thought about putting it out, but I couldn't have lived with myself had I have done that. Instead, I grabbed a cold one and smoked it until I felt my fingers burn. Yes it is full, but the construction, slow burn, and smooth smoke, make the Jaime Garcia a work of art. It has a taste of hard wood, fresh earth, and black powder that sprinkles your palate without burning it. The weak in heart should stay away from this one, but those who love a fantastic full cigar. Just pick up a 5 pack and tell me I'm wrong on my description.
This is a firecracker of a cigar, & not for the faint of heart. I've smoked many of the full bodies CI has to offer; Diesel, Bareknuckle, Punisher, My Father, etc. This may not be the strongest cigar made, but I doubt there are any stronger. With a full flavor of earth, wood, and black pepper, a slow even burn, and tons of smoke, this is a well made cigar. I would suggest having a cold one on hand to wash your palate from time to time. Well worth a purchase of a 5 pack to try them out for yourselves.
This is really a great and apparently underrated boxpressed smoke. Well made, burns even, and taste of earth nuts and cocoa with a pinch of spice all while maintaining an even medium full burn right down to the nub. Ive had 5 and cant wait to have more. Really, try this smoke. It's fantastic every time.
Very nice smoke. Dense, well made, and extremely flavorful.
Received a 5-pack each of robusto, belicoso, and super gordo - a 66 ring belicoso!(Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial). They are all remarkable smokes in all categories.Well done Mr.Garcia, as always, thanks CI!
Jaime is definitely going to be the next superstar in the cigar making business like his father Jose. But of course he is cause he's learning from the master! The JGRE is a gorgeous rich maduro cigar with dark chocolate, deep tobacco and cherry flavors, and a long sweet finish. The construction and burn is impeccable and the wrapper/appearance is flawless. Overall an excellent cigar for the money. Just like any cigar that comes out of the My Father factory, this is another winner!
