Let's face it, starting a new cigar brand is tough today. There's so many fantastic cigars on the market to compete with that many brands end up getting lost in the dust. So when the HC brand was announced, it had its doubters. But ten 90+ ratings later (that’s 10, count’em), it's safe to say HC has proven all doubters: wrong. With that in mind, welcome the latest addition to the HC family - HC Black Maduro.

Dressed in a dark, silky-smooth Havana Oscuro wrapper grown in Connecticut, HC Black Maduro is jam-packed with a rich combination of long fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. After aging, these medium to full-bodied handmades deliver a creamy, complex array of coffee, pepper, caramel, leather, and earth. Delicious is an understatement, HC Black Maduro is downright heavenly.

After3 smokes with inconsistent draw and burn, and also continual pieces coming out on the tongue, I unwrapped one. Middle is filled with cut up pieces and parts of tobacco, not long filler. Very disappointing from a brand I’ve always liked. Will not smoke the rest.

I have normally really enjoyed the HC Black cigars. However, the last batch I purchased has had issues with the leaf unrolling/loosening on the draw end of the cigar. It didn’t effect flavor or burn but made it difficult to finish the toro cigar.

HC makes some of the best cigars I've ever smoked, from the Black Maduro on up to their more expensive stogies. The Black Maduro always smokes well and evenly. It's very reasonably priced and is not only just an excellent every day cigar, it's good enough for one of those special occasions, too.
