Fuente Fuente OpusX Lost City

Description

A rare offering from Prometheus.

Unless you've been holed up underneath a rock, there's no doubt you've heard the words 'OpusX' at least a billion times. Hype or not, the Fuente Fuente OpusX is one of the rarest, and most heavily sought cigars the world has to offer, and CI holds the key.

The OpusX Lost City was made with rare tobaccos grown on Chateau de la Fuente during the off-season for crop production - tobaccos that have been aging for 5 years prior to production. Made with 100% Dominican-grown tobaccos, this Puro features dark Dominican wrappers and an eventful blend of Dominican long-fillers. The result is a bold, creamy smoke with robust flavors delivered in a mellow, and smooth fashion complemented by a deep, cedary aroma. Rare, no doubt. Pricey, but worth it. Special, absolutely.

Fuente Fuente OpusX Lost City received a well-deserved 93-rating, noting: "An earthiness emerges along with notes of caramel and almond. Complex and delicious."

Due to limited supply, purchases of Fuente Fuente OpusX Lost City cigars will be limited to one per customer.

I recently purchased the 5 cigar assortment, not from cigar international unfortunately. However if I had seen it available here I would've. Anyway, these are some of the smoothest cigars I've had & we'll worth every penny. They definitely pair well with a strong single barrel whiskey. I'm currently smoking a double robusto & have been enjoying it for about an hour now along with a 3 finger shot of jdsbbs(133 proof). I'm in heaven. My recommendation is that if you can find "The Lost City" buy some.

The original Opus X was first ever cigar and held the standard as the best cigar I’d ever had for quite a while, after having the Lost City however, the bar went even higher. Even though it is definitely an expensive stick, it is well worth the price of o celebrate something important in your life! I’d definitely recommend pairing it with a strong whiskey.

Complex and med-strong cigar. Should only get better with age too. Pricey, but a worthwhile cigar for special occasions.

After watching "The Last Dance" I was very excited to try a premium stick. So I searched all over the net and found this brand. Fuente brand has a lot of history but this particular line dates back to their history. I purchased this one and then watched the documentary on YouTube and that made this smoke more enjoyable. While drawing smoke I was just thinking of the history of the brand and all of the obstacles that this company made it through to provide quality to their customers. By far the best cigar that I have ever had well worth the money and I will make sure my wife gets me a box for every holiday that I can...

Had an even draw but did not burn evenly. Had to use lighter to even the burn. Very mild bland flavor for a cigar that is described as bold. Packaging is impressive that includes a humidity envelope. I believe the packaging is much better than the cigars. The cigars are not worth the money.

This well made cigar had a perfect draw and an even burn. I expected it to be a stronger smoke but it had a delicious flavor from start to finish. I find that I smoke this cigar, unlike many others, until I can barely hold it between my fingers. This cigar is as close to perfection as I’ve ever smoked

I am very disappointed with the cigar. For a medium to bold cigar, compared to many other cigars out there, the Lost City has no flavor. I have purchased many different cigars that have a much better flavor, for a much lower price. The presentation is great, the stick is not worth the money.

The Opus X is one of my favorite cigars. Bought a box for the holiday get togethers and everyone thought they were possibly the best cigar they ever had. Smooth, creamy and an ash that wil not fall off! For special occasions this is my go-to cigar

Customer Testimonials
Let me first start by saying I enjoyed this cigar. It wasn't the best I've had in the Opus X series; it was pretty decent. I can't however get over the price tag. There are far better cigars out there, from both the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and even Cuba that are far better and less expensive than this cigar. I honestly would buy more of these if they were $20 or less. I think there are better cigars from the Fuente family that are probably as good for less money. Worth a try, but wouldn't break the bank buying a box.

Got one as a gift, and never wanted it to end. Lovely, rich, a tour of flavor.
RN of florence, AL
Yeah I have tried my fair share of Opus X. Nothing special. I think these cigars are like the certain brand name shoes or clothing. People pay more because of the brand and packaging. I just had a EP Carrillo last night (torpedo) that reminded me of an Opus X almost to the tee (Minus the nicotine strength). Cannot see what the fuss and price is all about. I would prefer the Fuente Anejo or the regular Fuente over the Opus X any day of the week. Flavors are just not impressive to me.
MB of Gaylord, MI
I have to agree with the others here that the Lost City just doesn't seem to measure up. I've been a fan of Opus X as a 'special occasion" cigar for many years and was excited to find some available for online purchase...but, based on a sample of 3, I'm disappointed. The cigar doesn't measure up to the rest of the line...a little hard on the draw and just not a stand-out cigar given the high price. I'm hoping more aging will help but based on what I've read here, I'm not too optimistic.
BT of Madison, WI
I agree with the other reviews. The price tag is not worth the cigar. I even traveled to the DR and bought the Opus X directly from the Fuente lounge in Santo Domingo (nice cigar bar). I brought ten of them back and aged them: big disappointment. I mean, they are an okay cigar, but for that price?? Get real. I've paid much less and enjoyed other DR cigars with much better flavor. Cubans are far more complex and tasty, and for less money. But as long as people keep paying, Fuente will keep charging those absurd prices.
JL of Las Cruces, NM
I was very excited to smoke this cigar, only to be underwhelmed by it... not worth the price, not worth the hype. It was a pretty bland tasting cigar. If you're looking for a full bodied cigar with great flavor, I recommend the La Gloria Cubana Serie R #7.
FR of Malverne, NY
I tried one of these on a vacation in Las Vegas. Good cigar but doesn't deserve the price tag it carries. It isn't a complex smoke whatsoever, flavor profile is limited.
RE of Springfield, NJ
The Fuente Fuente Opus X Lost City.....are you kidding me? Talk about pricy. I mean it's ridiculous. It's an average tasting cigar.
VB of San Francisco, CA
I'm a big fan of Fuente Funete Opus X and have smoked literally hundreds of them over the last 15 years. I always have at least a half dozen aging in my humidor and would say it's one of my favorite cigars. In my opinion the Opus X Lost City is not a great extention of the line. It's okay, but not great. I have smoked about 6 on them and even aged one for two years before smoking it and they just don't do it for me. Maybe they blow away others, but to me the price is outrageous for what you get. I'll spend the dough on a regular Opus X any day, but not the Lost City. There are too many other high end cigars out there that are worth the money.
JS of Fleetwood, PA
I am about to commit cigar heresy, but I think the FF Opus X and the FFOXLC are the most overrated cigars. They have decent spice, body, and complexity, and yes, they are well made, but compared to the God of Fire or Sencillo Black this is just an underwhelming, unimpressive, and very expensive waste. Save some money and buy something else.
