El Gordo #57: CAO Flathead + Herf-a-Dor

CAO Flathead 660 is a beast. I smoke em on my overnight brisket smokes and they cut through the post oak smoke like a deep, rich coffee, chocolate knife. Herf-a-dor kept em fresh and out of the early Texas morning drizzle.

The cigar have a few cosmetic blemishes but the flavor and performance were flawless. Smooth, sweet, and slightly peppery for about 2 hours of enjoyment. The travel humidor is a nice bonus.

I'm new to ordering cigars online and didn't expect them to be packaged so tight. This makes for a tight draw. Nevertheless, the cigars were fresh and after a few days in the humidor they were excellent smokes. The Herf-a-Dor is a well constructed product that is a handy carrying case for my smokes. I can't tell to what degree they keep the smokes fresh, but they certainly protect them well. The lighter has an inconsistent flame, but the punch is sharp and effective.

Good deal but the lighter sucks. I pressed the lighter to light the cigar and the top flew off the lighter and the spring shot somewhere. It worked for about a week. I had to put a piece of wire where the top was connected to a least have it close.

Great Cigar and Lighter/Herf Combo

The order was shipped in a timely manner, the cigars are great, I’m enjoying those Flathead’s, the Herf-a-Dor works well made a great gift, also in my order was a lighter that came with it, this was a waste, the lighter fell apart the moment I used it, the lid popped right off. Everything else was good, just a shame the added free gifts are trash, keep them if they’re not going to work.

Have wanted to try these cigars for quite a while now. Great price for just the cigars, but there’s also a great travel humidor included as well. The lighter does a good job, but has to be refilled after lightning 3 or 4 cigars. If you’re wanting to try a fantastic medium to full flavored cigar, this is the perfect chance. And there’s the humidor to boot. I’ll be buying it again!

Love the CAO Flathead series. Herfador padding seemed to flatten each stick causing a tighter than usual draw. But still enjoyed each after apply TLC. Liked CI’s faster than expected shipping/delivery too.

The CAO flathead 660 is a nice medium to full bodied smoke with beautiful notes of chocolate and a smooth finish. I'm usually not a huge fan of big ring gauges, but the box press makes this one easy to smoke. The Herf-a-dor and lighter combo were a nice value also, because with the normal price of the cigars, it was like they were free.

I absolutely love these cigars but this is the first time ordering them from CI. I always punch my cigars to limit the draw and the first 3 I have tried were dry and the the cap has come off. As I smoke, particles flake off in my mouth. Still great flavor but this batch is just not good. I give the cigar in general 5 stars but I give CI 1 star for the quality theybsent me.

Had my mind set on the Rockwell torch, C.I sent me the Lotus instead. The cigars and Hef-a-dor are great. Definitely recommend this to my friends

Ok, so I ordered the combo just for the beautiful 660's inside. I was pleasantly surprised at the protection and humidification the case provides. Running a 3300 acre ranch leaves me away from the comfort of the lodge, I can carry my precious cigars with me now without worry. Now for the 660's. Absolutely amazing cigar, I was waiting for warmer weather to enjoy these but couldn't stand it. Smoked for over an hour in 15 degree weather and could have not been happier, beautiful full flavor and great burn. Will have a supply of these from now on. Just make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy these.

Herf-a-Dor works great for short hunting trips as it protects well when packed in the back of the truck with everything else. Flatheads have a great flavor and good even burn.

Wanted the Herf-a-dor for some upcoming traveling and after reading the reviews I decided it was worth a try with the bundle. Any reservations with the travel humidor (I have none, personally) were eclipsed by the sticks. I decided on the CAO Flathead 660 after enjoying the CAO Black Pipe tobacco very much. I hoped the quality of the cigar would match and I was not disappointed. A good mild-medium strength with a smooth draw and a consistent burn and pleasing taste from first light to the end. The larger size and box press fits good in the hand. Overall very pleased with the purchase.

Draw really well and burn evenly. Flavor went from chocolate notes to pepper. Strong and pair well with a glass of scotch.

This CAO flathead cigar is beautifully box-pressed and has a dark, oily wrapper that looks intimidating, but is oh so good with a nice burn, perfect draw, and complex flavors.

Love the herfador case, and even more so love the CAO Flathead sampler. Great, long burning piece. Only docked a star from the review because I would like to see some simple instructions on prepping/caring for the herfador.

I love CAO Flatheads, and this is a chance to get 5 of them with a 5-count travel humidor basically for free. To be fair, you can only fit about 4 of these in the humidor, because the cigars are so chunky, and the humidor has the old green foam humidifier, but it also includes the Moretti Churchill Lighter, the best torch I have owned.

These Flat heads came fresh and ready to smoke. The one I smoked burned for a very long time. I set it down and though it was out a couple times. The spicy and peper flavors were good in this robust smoke near the end. So good, I ordered a second combo and gifted the herf. I've tried other Flatheads, but the 660 is my favorite of them all, or if you will, the one I drive for.

Excellent travel case solid, resilient, carries my 5-6x60 CAO with no problem. Tight seal stays fresh with a little humidor pack 72%. The flat head is an amazing smoke. It is my go to for sitting and relaxing with a cup of coffee or an adult beverage of your choice! Make sure you have time to enjoy this finger burner!!! About an hour and a half a stick.

Loved the Flathead's and the lighter and humidor made it a great value. The Gurka Shaggy are not a quality smoke. Very inconsistent, poor quality. will not purchase this stick again. It was actually surprising as the Gurka Ghost and Black Rose are both good values for the money.
