An ode to the Man in Black.
No, not Will Smith. This cigar is dedicated to the true Man in Black, the one and only Johnny Cash. The folks over at Crowned Heads are sticking to their musically themed cigar lines and have decided to honor Cash with their newest release, Jericho Hill. One of the most influential American singer/songwriters of all time, Johnny’s checkered past compelled him to perform one of his most famous tracks – Cocaine Blues, from his renowned concert at Folsom Prison. This is the ballad of a scorned man named Willy Lee whose drug induced rage got him arrested by a sheriff from Jericho Hill. Every aspect of this cigar takes inspiration from the song.
Jericho Hill boasts a dark and sultry Mexican San Andres wrapper, which is a nod to both Juarez, Mexico, where Willy Lee was arrested, and to Johnny’s nickname, “Man in Black.” Nicaraguan long-fillers and a Nicaraguan binder help to give Jericho Hill some serious attitude (just like Johnny had). Stuffed to the brim with blasts of pepper, spice, and leather, this is one full-bodied firecracker. Only the most potent of blends would suffice in paying tribute to a legend of Johnny Cash’s stature, and this one fits the bill. RIP, JC.Crowned Heads Jericho Hill received a well-deserved 90-rating noting: "Dark in appearance and flatly pressed, this cigar starts out herbal and woody, but develops heartier notes of toast, nuts and spice that lead to a licorice finish. "
I got one of the Shots in a trade of petites from my buddy. Had it as a breakfast stick with a cup of coffee and all I can say is wow. Even sitting out on the deck in a windy 42 degrees, I was still able to fully enjoy this cigar. Started out with just a nice robust, full tasty tobacco flavor and quickly went into cocoa and a slight pepper note. Towards the middle of the smoke it developed a deeper cocoa flavor with a bit of leather. At the end, pure chocolate cake. This little guy lasted me an hour and a half with no re-light; burned my fingers before my tongue. Quite possibly the best stick I've had. I promptly ordered a 5-pack and the sampler.
The only thing that I can say is it is outstanding. Flavor profile is quite different that other sticks which is very unique. Definitely worth buying a box. P.S.: I would suggest it with any singlemalt whiskey.
My local cigar shop got a few boxes of these sticks in a couple of weeks ago. I use to enjoy Toros, now I'm more a Robusto man. I still have and buy many different cigars in the toro size but im always on the go and it is easier and less waistful to smoke robustos. Any ways my local cigar bar got some of these in different sizes. The robusto is awesome! Starting with the pre-light draw you get dark chocolate, cinnamon, caramel, maple. I toasted the foot ( remember never be in a hurry, toast foot well before first draw). I blew on the foot to help the cherry get hot and maintain. The aroma just intensifies. Then the first draw is warm, spicy, filled with espresso, chocolate that lays on your tongue throughout the entire smoke. I suggest to have a nice scotch close because the pair up is great. Get a box, I did. You won't reget it
