Crowned Heads J.D. Howard Reserve

Description

A real American outlaw.

Look out, because I’m about to drop some knowledge: the infamous Jesse James spent most of his years robbing banks and causing a ruckus in the Wild, Wild West. That’s a true story, son! But when he wasn’t kicking ass and taking names, he spent a good amount of time living peacefully in Nashville under the alias “Howard.... J.D. Howard." This inventive blend was inspired by his legacy.

J.D. Howard Reserve is the third core line from Crowned Heads LLC, and is a fitting follow up to the Four Kicks and Headley Grange lines. Featuring an ultra-dark and toothy Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and hand-selected long-fillers from Nicaragua, there's plenty of flavor in-store. Notes of wood, spice and coffee are present throughout a medium to full-bodied profile that's hard to resist.

The J.D. Howard remains one of my favorite Crowned Heads cigars ever made, and I think it it has one of the most unique taste profiles I've had. First, this cigar probably has the most "woodsiest" flavor I've encountered; not sure how else to describe it, its scent just reminds me of walking though the woods. The burn tends to be okay on this cigar, and the smoke production is just about right. I really hope Crowned Heads continues making these, as this ranks up there with any of the Mule Kick LEs they've made. Also, the backstory on this cigar is very interesting, definitely worth listening to Jon Huber talk about its story.

It has a very nice, smooth, woodsy and creamy draw with subtle hints of spice and leather. The Brazilian wrapper provides a hint of sweetness. This cigar made me want to holdup a couple of trains and banks with my colt .44 six shooter just like Jesse...only kidding, lol.

One of the beat sticks I have had in last 5 yrs. Smooth woodsy flavor. Burns slow and even and allows you to relax and soak in the taste and your surrounding. Bravo.

Like the other reviews state, it has a unique profile that you must like. That being said it just seems to hit a classic note with me that I have not seen done this well by any other cigar. Unique not only in flavor but also unique because it stands on its own compared to its rivals. I know unique but classic doesn’t fit together so you will have to try it to understand.
