The Darker Side of Nicaragua’s First Mellow Handmade
It’s safe to say, after the success of CAO Brazilia and CAO Black ‘VR,’ that the CAO brand has revolutionized the Brazilian Maduro wrapper leaf. So why not put it on their top-selling blend, CAO Gold? And that’s exactly what they did. CAO Gold Maduro is a re-invention of one of the first 90-rated CAO blends.
CAO Gold Maduro combined the mellow long-filler combination of Nicaraguan tobaccos used in the traditional Gold series, but wraps it in a dark and toothy Brazilian Maduro leaf. The result is a chewy, medium-bodied flavor with hints of coffee delivered in a most pleasing creamy, buttery fashion.
I'm usually not a fan of anything that's not full bodied, but this one wasn't bad. Delicious creamy smoke that just lingers on the tongue. Great cigar to start the morning with a cup of coffee. Mmm!
Just finished my first CAO Gold maduro. Excellent stick! Tight draw, which I don't usually like, but it seemed to really allow me to savor the flavors, of which there were many! Took me about an hour and a half to burn this bad boy to the nub. The foot was smooth and rich, while the finishing notes of earth and pepper stayed on my palate for quite awhile. I definitely will be enjoying this cigar again in the future!
With out a doubt, this is my favorite cigar !!! I smoke other brands of maduros, but in the end, this is my go to smoke. Try it, you WON'T regret it !!! ALOHA !!!
I must have gotten a few duds. The wrappers fall apart whether being punched or cut. The draw is similar to a real ice cream milkshake, but I get hardly any smoke in my mouth- the cigar smokes like a chimney from the lit end, though. I've enjoyed several other CAO cigars, and prefer maduros, but this is a disappointing experience. I'm going to let these sit for several months and hope for the best.
This was a fantastic stick. The flavor will stay with you for hours after you smoke it...and what a great flavor. I bought one of these in a sample pack. I am back now to buy a box. One of my new must haves.
well im pretty new in the cigar game and i have been buying a bunch of different samplers to try to find the ones i really enjoy. i found myself leaning toward maduros and habanos. i recently grabbed one of these and it was awesome. the draw was effortless and smoke was thick. this cigar has made its way to my top 5- do yourself a favor and try this cigar. it was amazing. keep up the good work CI
I SMOKE ONLY MADUROS. AND, IN PARTICULAR, CAO MADUROS. MY FAVORITE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE CAO RED LABEL MADURO, NOT THE ANNIVERSARY EDITION, JUST THE RED LABEL. A FINE CIGAR. MY SISTER PRESENTED ME WITH A BOX OF THE CAO GOLD MADURO AS A GIFT FOR REMODELING HER BATHROOM. I WAS SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTED THAT MY WIFE HAD GIVEN HER THE WRONG NAME AND I WOUND UP WITH THE GOLD LABEL MADUROS. "GREAT MISTAKE !!!!!" IF YOU ARE A MADURO LOVER, THIS CIGAR IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST CIGAR YOU WILL EVER SMOKE. SMOOTH, CRISP AND CLEAN WITH COFFEE AND NUT FLAVORS AND WITH NO BITE. IT BURNS BEAUTIFULLY WITH A SOLID GRAY ASH. A CIGAR TO BE SMOKED WHEN YOU ARE AT PEACE WITH YOURSELF WITH YOUR FAVORITE DRINK. AND, AT $5.00 A STICK - IT'S JUST ICING ON THE CAKE ! JJP
Great cigar at a reasonable price. I really wasn't sure what to expect with this cigar when I first got it. After trying it while relaxing in the backyard with a nice Oban to go along with it, I was very impressed. Great heft to this one but a surprisingly light smoke. Subtle flavors all the way through with nothing harsh. Do yourself a favor and try one, I think you will be impresed. Has to rank in my top 5.
Medium body....full flavor...lacks nothing but a high price tag. Last night I pulled this Black Bombshell out of my humidor after its restful slumber for the past 6 months, and let me tell you how pleased I was that did. It was love at first sight. It is jacketed in a silky smooth, oily wrapper with little to no vein bumps for a Maduro. Lovely pre-light aroma: not too powerful, not too feint, just right. First light is deliciously sweet with dark chocolate and almonds. Incredibly creamy, smooth and full of flavor with absolutely no bite or any hints of harshness. A slow, even burn tipped its hat to the wonderful construction. Each effortless draw revealed dense, salt and pepper ash without any flaking. As the cigar progressed, it moved away from its hypnotic, sweet cocoa flavors and delved further into its true toasty, nutty core, with subtle hints of earth and leather arising from time to time. Burn quality, flavor, temperature and overall construction remained perfect to the very end. An absolutely wonderful cigar smoking experience that is a true pleasure.
I'm rather surprised that so few people have submitted their personal feedback on this stick. It doesn't seem to draw nearly as much attention as the Conn shade version and ends up flying way under the radar. This is one of my favorite maduro cigars and only ranks a few pegs lower then an AB Maxx Fix, Diesel, and Triple A on my maduro scale. Very nice construction (as with most CAO sticks) and delicious flavor. It's definitely worth a try.
What a great cigar! (CAO Gold Maduro) Looks do fool you though. Upon lighting this very dense beauty I thought to myself I had better hang on for this one...this cigar has a tighter than most draw and is very heavy in the hand. The smoke is subdued and the flavors are much more mild than I expected. Thats not to say that I didnt love the cigar because I did, its just that it looks a lot more potent than it actually is. I would pay twice the amount and still think I was getting a deal for these cigars. "92"
Very pleasant cigar. (CAO Gold Maduro) Mild to medium in body with a very pleasant, gentle taste. This particular cigar had a very slightly tight draw which was in no way a bad thing; is smoked very slowly. The burn was even. Very enjoyable smoke.
Very nice smoke (CAO Gold Maduro)! Medium bodied and has a nice draw. Went very well with a nice single malt.
