Ashton's top-shelf, vintage beauty.
When it comes to Ashton cigars, top-notch quality is a given. So what makes the Ashton Cabinet Selection special and worth the extra couple of shillings over the Ashton Classic line? I'm glad you asked. Ashton Cabinet Selection cigars utilize a 4-5 year aged blend of Dominican long-fillers adorned with a top-grade Connecticut shade wrapper leaf that's been aged for a full 12 months longer than the wrapper leaf on Ashton Classic. The result is a smooth, elegant profile that's crisp, clean and layered with notes of oak, cedar, pepper, cream, and coffee. Expensive, yes, but likely worth every penny. Ashton Cabinet Selection received a well-deserved 90-rating noting: "Draped in a smooth, blond wrapper, this cigar draws and burns very well. Its woody, mellow flavors have light creamy undertones. The finish is toasty."
It's a good cigar, but a little overpriced.
great cigar, one of my favorites
I bought 5-pack. One of the cigars was dud. It ran and then stopped burning halfway through. The one I had last night was great.
As I enjoy the light, sweet flavor palate of a Connecticut wrapper I tried an Ashton Cabinet Toro from my local shop prior to ordering a box. For the price and a brand that is known as a "premium" cigar brand you would expect quality. If you get this cigar expect that you will be disappointed. You can feel the inconsistency in the construction rolling it in your fingers. Some areas loose and some areas tightly packed. The pull, as stated earlier, is often hard and harsh, but in some areas is smooth and sweet. If you like a cigar that is full of surprises this one is for you as it is the most inconsistent stick I have ever smoked....
I ordered these smokes a week and a half ago. I was extremely impressed that they came in so quickly, as I am a station in the Middle East. They were very well packaged. Unfortunately all five sticks were damaged at the head. At 20 bucks a stick I was expecting a higher quality. On a sidenote all five sticks also showed signs of plume, which is harmless and is also an excellent sign of aging. I took the liberty to smoke one of these the very next day after arrival. It was delicious. I tend to smoke cigars a bit slower than most of my friends. With that being said, I would recommend at least two hours to thoroughly enjoy this stick. At the end of the day, I would highly recommend this Presidente stick to any seasoned cigar smoker...
Approximately one month ago I purchased a box of Ashton Cabinet Torpedo cigars. I smoked 6 out of the box with the same results. They smoke harsh and tend to burn uneven at times. Some smooth out after half way through the cigar. I am going back to the Rocky Patel Vintage 2003 Cameroon.
Best stick available on the market for my taste! Slow, even burn; Mild, nutty, slightly cinnamon flavor; good draw throughout and a happy finish!
