Alec Bradley American Classic Blend

American Classic Blend, a classic all American cigar.

Alec Bradley American Classic Blend is crafted in Nicaragua to replicate the classic taste of old-style, Tampa-made premiums. To craft the American Classic Blend cigar, an aged recipe of long-fillers from Nicaragua is secured inside a bold Nicaraguan binder, then cloaked by a lovely Connecticut-seed Honduran wrapper.

The flavor is mellow to medium-bodied — smooth, and teeming with satisfying flavors. A rich core of tobacco is complemented by sweet notes, nuts, and a touch of coffee, while the finish is long, woodsy, and soothing on the palate. Complex yet tame, the American Classic Blend from Alec Bradley is fit (and priced) for daily enjoyment.

Hope this one is not typical.
1st of the five, hope this is not the best. Very tight, difficult to draw. Burns with canoe shape. I can not taste anything I like. Hope this is not typical.

I love this cigar
I hadn't tried this cigar in years since they first hit the market but I'm glad I tried them again. Don't let the Connecticut wrapper fool you into thinking it's a bland mild cigar. I'd rate it at medium in strength, starting out mellow and becoming complex as you smoke it to the nub. I smoke a lot while driving and appreciate the quality construction. Ash hold on strong until you decide to drop it. All this at a price that is reasonable when on sale.

Takes some time
Takes a bit of time in the humidor for these to adjust. But a lighter and enjoyable smoke on the occasion where youre looking for something less full.

Generally, I'm a maduro guy. But my mother (God love her) bought me a box of these for my birthday back in September. I usually grab one of these when I want something a little milder to smoke early in the day. Since I don't often smoke early in the day, I've still got a few of these in the humidor. Having one this afternoon, I'm reminded how great the American Classic is. This is just a solid mild-medium stick with consistent flavor all the way down to the nub. If you like a mild stick, push your personal envelope and dig in. If you like a medium, grab this sucker and enjoy!!! Cheers!!!!!!!

Perfect construction
Not my favorite Alec Bradley choice but still a perfect cigar as far as construction and burn

Excellent well made cigars!
Bought these as a thank you present for a good friend of mine for introducing me to cigars. Had a great even burn, nice draw and excellent taste. Great cigar for a special occasion. I loved it but I'm more of a medium cigar person and this one was more medium-full. Once my cigar taste fully develops I'll try another and update my review. An amazing cigar for the price!

Decent smoke
CI wanted the review, so for now will have to say - "nothing special", but its been my experience that most cigars have to sit for a few months, hopefully I will see more from these.

Good Smoke, but I didn't love them.
Got one of these in a sampler. Not my favorite, but it did burn evenly with good smoke production and had a decent flavor. Would recommend to get a sampler with one of these in it so you can try it, but personally i wouldn't buy a whole box.

Great Golf Cigar
Really smooth taste. Not too strong to knock you off your game. Nice flavor and a burn rate that lasts a while.

I would not recommend but it's okay, I guess.
Not the best in the Bradley line but decent enough. Basically, you get what you pay for. I prefer the Bradley Prensado. It is so much better.

I really like these cigars. Smooth and flavorful, and just the right size for a relaxing forty minutes.

Great for the price. Reliable, if not complex.
Got a few in a sampler and they've sat at least a year. This is a very enjoyable, even-burning, reliable smoke. Tobacco with a hint of sweetness and woodsy aftertaste is about accurate, per CI's description. I don't pull coffee or nutty notes from this, really. It's not very complex, but it is a good smoke for a good price. This won't knock your socks off, but this is a 5 star stick at the price they go for. If you doubled the price, I might drop a star off. You can't go wrong, try a fiver.

I'm fairly new to cigar smoking, but I've tried a few and this stick came in a sampler pack. I have to say it was very enjoyable the draw was perfect and the flavor were very accommodating with the scotch I was drinking. I would recommend it.
Customer Testimonials
Like many of the other reviews, the Classic Blend was a fairly good cigar. I treated myself to a Churchill the other night, and it was a solid, enjoyable smoke - up until I hit the last 20% or so. For whatever reason, it started burning hot, and was consequently bitter. Looking at the other reviews, it seems like mine must have been a fluke, and could've been magnified by the windy conditions I was enjoying it in. Overall, I'd give it a 85/100...
I really do love the Alec Bradley American Classic, I smoke mine in the torpedo vitola. Great price for a great tasting stick! $5 a stick keeps these a mainstay in my humidor. It starts off strong with a bit of pepper spice but mellows out to a extremely smooth flavor that still packs a punch. A true medium body in flavor but slightly stronger than most mediums. A great smoke and one of my favorites!
I managed to wrangle a 3 clams per stick deal on 10 of the Gordo Toros & set several aside for aging.... It's been several months since I last sparked one up, so I decided to continue the recent AB reviews, which have included any burn issues I encountered.... Alec Bradley being the purveyor of a slew of well deserved 90+ rated gems. ACB is no exception, earning a 90 from me & representing an outstanding mild bodied Connecticut. The Gordo size seems perfect for an extended morning session with expresso or tea. Flavorful, creamy smooth, even a bit complex, when compared to most of its peers. Don't sleep on Alec Bradley's American Classic Blend if you are a mildhead, who yearns for a bit more from their daily Connecticut wrapped cigar. Available at just over my strict limit of 5 bones, keeping your eyes open can net you a deal on these. Considering the 45% discount I received, it would be hard to find a better mild cigar for less.
Got the Alec Bradley American Blend out of a sampler (CI's mild & mellow sample #4). I have smoked 6 of the 10 cigars out of the sampler and this was my favorite so far. Definitely recommend this mild-medium bodied smoke to anyone.
The American Classic Toro was included in CI's mild & mellow sample #4. It is very flavorful, with a great aroma. Mild enough even for a beginner. Highly recommend this stick.
I have yet to try a single Alec Bradley offering that didn't impress me with its concept, flavor, construction & unfortunately, somewhat uneven burn. The American Classic Blend is no exception. The massive 6" X 60 Gordo Toro is a creamy, smooth mild/medium bodied treat that indulges the senses from pre light to the not so bitter end. Delicious, even if it may be the mildest AB blend I have yet tasted. Notes of cedar mingle with mildly spicy hints of vanilla. The pale Connecticut wrapper is flawless & skillfully draped over a firmly packed body of long fillers. Actually, even the burn was pretty much spot on, with just a slight tendency to tunnel. No touch ups were required however. All in all, very nicely executed. 90/100 & recommended.
A pleasent surprise, I shouldn't surprised be because it is an alec Bradley after all. But,I really didn't expect much out of this cigar. It's very mild and great for a morning smoke. The flavors are not over powering and very pleasant. Nice creamy, smooth cigar! No harshness I believe the tobacco is well aged.
It's always nice to find a new stick. The "AB, American Classic" really surprised me. Creamy cedar, nuts, coffee and a smooth tobacco core. Perfect draw and burn right down to the nub. That's right the nub, that's how cool this stick smoked. The price point is affordable.... no reason not to try them. I'll be buying more.
The perfect medium bodied smoke. A great morning treat with a nutty creaminess and enough spice to get you going. A little bit sweet and woody but not to complex. A good draw, well constructed with a even and smokey burn.
After throwing back a 5-pack this week I can say, they taste like "A Cigar" and nothing more. Nothing unique about this Miami oldschooler but no more than a yard gar to me. Tastes like decent tobaco, nothing unique. Still a good smoke but I feel like AlecB has more to offer in his other lines. I LOVE what he's doing and he really is taking over this industry by storm! Keep it up AB!
Read a lot of glowing reviews for this cigar, so when I saw them on a bid site for dirt cheap, I pulled the trigger. The first two that I smoked were a little bitter and not to my liking, so I let them sit for a month or so. Well, the extra time in the humi really made a big difference. Creamy right off the bat, along with a woodsy, cedary twang to them. I'm sure they will get even better with further aging.
I received this in my monthly shipment and was anxious to smoke this cigar. I let it rest in my humidor for just over a week. The Conneticut-seed wrapper was a creamy color with a slight oily sheen. The feel was not too soft and the appearance was that of a much more costly cigar. The foot lit easily and the burn was even. A white ash developed and fell off on its own at just over 2-inches. It redeveloped on its own and formed a beautiful white ash that lasted to the nub. The initial flavor was a bit peppery with a hint of spice and quickly mellowed into a cedary, sweet spice. The cigar was not too complex and was enjoyable. The finish was a little cocoa with hints of a sweet spice. This would be a good cigar with a good cup of coffee early in the morning. It is not overbearing nor complex, but still very enjoyable.
This stick has really surprised me. Admittedly it's my first AB experience, so maybe this is more of a revelation. Construction is excellent, burn is cool and even. The tastes are just great, I won't try to compare them to nuts and salted meat, etc., but they are damn good. Of course, thanks to CI for allowing my tight wallet to permit this experience to happen.
Not great, but really good. Uncomplicated, medium-bodied tobacco flavor, start to finish. Smooth draw, solid burn and construction. Perfect cigar for a football tailgate. The food equivalent of this cigar would be a top-notch double cheeseburger on a kaiser. It ain't Beef Wellington, but who wants Beef Wellington all the time?
Great cigar....I've been smoking them since their release in May ' and burn always spot on....little spice up front and mellows out nicely about half way through leaving a vanilla/cedar like taste (at least to me)...medium in body and in Roch NY we get hammered with Tobacco taxes but for around $8 a stick it was always worth picking one up in a cigar that they are available on CI the boutique owners may see a little less of me.
I smoked the corona last night. A little bitter off the start, but smoothed out very quickly. The burn was decent, a little raggedy at times, and needed relights if put down; soft and a little short of tobacco as you would expect from a cigar at this price point. I enjoyed the cigar, the flavor wasn't bad, I smoked it almost to the nub. However, an everyday cigar from Alec Bradley should be better than this. There are a lot of very decent everday cigars out there from less prestigious makers that cost less and are better smokes. Overall: meh.

Alec Bradley American Classic

Brandon S

You don’t make great cigars sitting behind a desk and Alan Rubin will be happy to tell you that. Alan Rubin started Alec Bradley Cigars (named after his sons, Alec and Bradley) in 1996. Since the company’s inception, they have garnered several 90+ ratings. To say that I’m excited to try this blend would be an understatement.

Alec Bradley’s American Classic intrigued me from the beginning. Being a red-blooded, gun-toting, beer drinking, flag flying, truck-driving....well, you get the picture. I consider myself a patriot. So what goes well with my patriotism? An American cigar, of course! Well, sort of American....the American Classic is made in Nicaragua utilizing a Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Honduras. The fillers are a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan long-leaf tobaccos. So really, there’s nothing American about it except the band. What is American about the blend is that it’s a throwback to the cigars that were rolled in Tampa in the early part of the 20th century. You know, back in the good ol’days of homogenized wrappers and machine made brands. Huh? Whatever. At least his intentions were good, I hope.  So let’s just take the cigar for what it’s worth – about $4-$5 in box....not bad.

I picked up the Robusto for the review. At first glance, it seems like this stick is going to be a light-weight. I generally prefer a fuller cigar, and American Blend’s pale, tan wrapper doesn’t raise my pulse in the slightest. Upon lighting, I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, it’s no powerhouse, but it actually has some pretty good flavor right out of the gate. For about the first inch it comes off as a medium-bodied cigar. Up front, there’s a creamy, cedary flavor that turns to spice as it finishes. You definitely feel the spice on the back of your palate. As the cigar progresses, the spice subsides and the creamy, cedary flavor is more pronounced.

I won’t lie, this isn’t the most complex cigar you’ll ever smoke and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, it’s nice to not have to think about all the changes in a blend and just smoke. The American Blend provides and all-around tasty cigar at pretty reasonable prices. I’ll give it a 90 (including a couple of bonus points for the name).
