Another powerhouse from 601.
Just when you thought 601 Serie couldn’t get any stronger, another fantastic, full-bodied brute has made its way onto the scene. Dressed in a dark, leathery Habano Oscuro wrapper from Nicaragua, this bold handmade employs an extensively aged mixture of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-fillers to create a real sparkplug of a cigar.
Each 601 Green Oscuro is meticulously handmade to deliver a potent array of balanced flavor. Heavy in the hand and oily to the touch, the 601 Green Oscuro coats the palate with a dense bouquet loaded with rich, chocolatey flavors, coffee undertones, peppery nuances, and a long, toasty aftertaste.Great news! 601 Green Oscuro received a well-deserved, 90-point rating, noting: "Dark and lush with good oils. This is a notably spicy perfecto with a core of leather flavors and a long finish. A medium- to full-bodied cigar."
As a member of Cigar International's Club, this cigar was sent my way as part of my monthly eight-cigar package. I must say, I am not easily impressed as a Tatuaje enthusiast, but the 601 Green Oscuro (5 x 52) was delicious and made me evermore proud of my Cigar International's Membership Club. After quite a time, CI, you have delivered amazing and smoothly good! I thank you! :-) T
I have the Pepin version and they are hella beefy! Tastes like smoked beef jerky with some nice black pepper. Delicious!
I dont get alot of spice from this at all. I get a real good quality tobacco. Consistent throughout. Not a complex stick at all but good medium bodied taste to me. A small touch of cream on the last 3rd of the stick. It's a winner. Try it!
5 4 3 2 1 BLAST OFF. My vocabulary doesn't have the words to express how great this cigar really is. Starting out with a powerful full body smoke that becomes mellow without loosing it's fullness. Having smoked some of the best money can buy. The 601 Green has a place right beside of ones at the top of my list. Now I'm going to have to do what one review said. Buy more! The 601 is why I love being among the others who love a good cigar.
Oliva O seri maduro, with AT LEAST twice the strength. A fine smoke.
Amazing! I am a believer in the Don. I've been smoking my way through the DPG Sampler that CI offers and this is the best so far. San Cristobal, DPG Black, DPG Blue... fantastic, but this, an epiphany. I don't need to eat, but I need this cigar.
601 Green Habano Oscuro -Tronco. Best cigar period. I could eat these they're so good. Full and rich. Nothing else is close, really.
The 601 tronco-is by far and away the best damn smoke/very fullfilling/complex/smooth/hints of leather/just outstanding/just wish I could afford more often.
I fired this one up took a few initial drags and was thinking to myself I better put my seatbelt on. As with some of the Pepin smokes I've had the pleasure of, its like that in the initial phases. Something like a jet that goes vertical and then levels off. Man when it did I found myself flying high with a big smile on my face, "stewardess cocktails please" Man I really! really! enjoyed this smoke, lots of thick smoke and a steady smooth cigar all the way to the end. actually it never landed it just kept flying till it was time for me to do hard arch and come back to earth.
The 601 Green is a stand-up faithful stick that will never let you down. Many memorable smokes are attributed to this fine cigar!
This is a well balanced, tasty cigar. It is listed as "strong" but don't let that put you off. The fine balance of the ingredients off set any problems from the cigar strength. It is one of the best of the best out there. I second the poster that gave it a 92.
This is an extremely good cigar. It has a beautiful wrapper and the construction is nearly perfect. The draw is perfect. Great aroma and flavor. This smoke will stand up to anything. A solid 92 in my book.
If I was on death row I would ask for this cigar as my last meal request..it's that damn good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 601 Green Oscuro ("601 Greenie") is just freaken' awesome. One of my favorites.
I buy the corona on a regular basis, nice hearty smoke!
I was a mild to medium kind of guy until I tried the 601 Green. I had tried some of Pepin's more full bodied blends before and they were just a bit much for me. I had to take a double-take when I found out the 601 Green belonged to the Pepin family. If I could afford it this would be all I smoke! An amazing rich flavor wrapped in a beautiful dark oily leaf. It's because of this smoke that I have moved on to enjoy some of the fuller blends like Man 'O' War, The Edge RP and 5 Vegas Miami to name a few. So even if you don't usually go for the Full bodied smoke give this one a try! It may open a door for you that you will never want to close!
The 601 Green Oscuro could easily become a favourite. Plenty of 'power' but it's not one to knock you down and stomp on you. The flavour is excellent. Lovely to look at and burns very nicely.
Pretty much hands-down the best full bodied cigar of the past year for me. It is one of my favorite Pepin blends along with the 5Vegas Miami. This dark stick is oily and full of flavor. If you are a fan of Pepin and full bodied beauties, you MUST try this stick. It is indeed a premium master blend. WARNING: Once you have one, you'll be trying to stock up often!
lets get down to business, in my journey to taste the greatest full body cigars, the patel edge maduro. the camacho corojo and the padilla 1968 are a few of the absolute best. this 601 green oscuro may be the best yet. this flavor bomb rivals if not surpasses the edge maduro in the strength and complexity department. the pre-light aroma is black pepper and chocolate . the first draw is as expected a pepper explosion very strong on the nose. then about a half inch in the earthy chocolate core settles in with less spice than the start. about half way through the black pepper returns with an underlying sweetness from the wrapper i suppose with slight notes of ripe fruit and coffee. the finish is long and eventful.only slighty returning to the pepper explosion from the first draw. i can not say enough how great this "don pepin" made cigar is, i would rate this well packed well made and even burning flavor joyride easily a 95, this is one of the best i have ever smoked. if your smoking macanudo regularly, skip this one , your palet cant handle the strength. but if you are serious full body maniac ,this stick will thrill you a plenty.
This is one of those cigars (601 Green Oscuro) I wish was cheaper because it is just that good. Man the first half of this cigar is phenomenal. It is so flavorful. Now I don't think it is extremely complex, but when a cigar starts off tasting so good maybe it is a good thing it doesn't change for the first half. The second half mellows out a bit, which is a good thing for some of you out there because I would say this is a full bodied cigar. You got to try this one. I was pulled into cigars with the 601 Red, I love the 601 Black, but the best by far is this one.
601 Green Oscuro, an absolutely gorgeous wrapper. This stick is so thich that I want to get a knife/fork and feast on it! Rich tobacco taste with a decent burn and excellent draw. Loads of beautiful smoke erupt from this one! Reminds me of the most-excellent Joya de Nicaragua, minus the stomach turning power. If you like a thick, chewy, dark smoke...you must put this one on your list!
