La Flor Dominicana continues to produce some of the finest hand-crafted premium cigars hailing from the Dominican Republic. Based in Santiago since 1996, the LFD portfolio has undergone significant additions to their portfolio over the years that keep testing the status quo for manufacturers in the DR. A year after founding the brand, Litto Gomez was able to begin utilizing premium tobaccos from his farm in La Canela, which makes up a significant amount of the tobacco used in these premium handmades. The company’s motto is very accurate when it comes to describing what to expect from La Flor Dominicana. “Home of the Ligero” is how LFD is self-described and is undoubtedly true. 

When you think of some of the ultra-premium brands hailing from the DR, it’s usually assumed that these handmades are more medium in their profile. However, LFD has challenged that assumption by rolling out the  La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero with a 94-point rating that captures the essence of what a full-bodied cigar is. The company continues to pump out 90+ rated blends and has even taken home some top honors. The La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull took home #1 Cigar of the Year in 2016 and received a 96-point rating. In 2020, the La Flor Dominicana 1994 was #23 Cigar of the Year in 2020 and received a 92-point rating. Overall, LFD has put out some seriously tasty handmades that should be in your humidor.
