Substitute my Habano for Maduro.
The triumph of Victor Sinclair’s Serie '55' Imperial Habano cannot be denied. An ultra-premium blend at an attractive price point is a recipe for success. Forward a few years and a gaggle of followers later, Jose Dominguez thought it time to expand on this magnificent concoction.
Welcome Victor Sinclair Serie ‘55’ Imperial Maduro, a heartier, chewier version of this already scrumptious treat. Substituting in a Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro wrapper for the well-known Habano, Jose has created a medium to full-bodied snack for all to enjoy. Inside your can find a five country cocktail of well-aged tobaccos, combined they produce complex and rich notes of coffee, chocolate, and pepper. It’s up to you to decide for yourselves if this gem outdoes its predecessor, and the odds are darn good.
I will say up front that I am not usually big on VS cigars. I picked up a 10-pack of these for a song (and free shipping on my entire order) and they have been sitting in my humi over winter. Finally had a chance to fire one up last night, and I was very happy I did. Definite hints of chocolate and leather with a little spice, and some of that classic "aged cigar" flavor that is so hard to define. I smoked it right down to the nub, it seemed to improve as it went. Thanks CI!
I forgot to add that these cigars are double banded. When you remove the outer "55" band, you will find another, white band underneath, with Jose Dominguez' "signature". Interesting touch.
I ordered a 10 pack of these, and I am kicking myself for not picking up more. I was very surprised with these smokes. Good woody and pepper flavor. The burn was very even throughout the smoke. It went very well with a Harpoon IPA I was having when I fired one up. I will make sure I have these in my humi from here on out.
Ordered two ten packs on [Joe's Daily Deal]..arrived today..smoked one ROTT..was not expecting much just a good kick around hand out smoke! Was surprised; an actually better than average maduro, picking up more flavor throughout the burn. Never harsh, never above medium to me, but tasty and flavorful.... better than you would dream of getting at this price point. The PA Broadleaf wrapper was flawless as was the even burn...try them; odds are you will agree: great smoke for the money!!!
I enjoyed this stick. Medium to full body. First third: smooth with hints of pepper and wood. Second third: the pepper faded and a sweet, nutty flavor settled on the back of my tongue. Final third: became a little bitter towards the end.
