This cigar has serious swag.

At one point, swag's most common definition was, "a curtain or piece of fabric fastened so as to hang in a drooping curve." Nowadays you're more likely to encounter it in relation to a style of dress and personal conduct. Having "swag" (used here as a shortened form of the word "swagger") means that you're impossibly hip and undeniably cool. In other words, you’re a lot like this powerful release from Boutique Blends, enter Swag Black.

Swag Black was made with all Dominican tobacco that was grown by Jochi Blanco of Tabacalera La Palma. These leaves have been aged for more than 8 years, yet they retain a strength that’s customarily associated with Nicaraguan cigars, not Dominicans. A bevy of strong and intense ligero long-fillers set the stage, and deliver a complex and balanced experience brimming with notes of cedar, pepper, and currant. When you need a cigar that’s both strong and charismatic, Swag Black is the perfect choice.

I got one of this as a free cigar when I ordered a bunch of other smokes a few weeks back. I didn't know what to think when looking at it, but what I did know was it smelled fantastic. I let it hang out in my humi for a couple of weeks and put it in a rotation to smoke but never got to it. Last weekend, I pulled it out of my Herf-a-Dor while I was hanging with the guys, clipped it, torched it, puffed it, and proceeded to be blown away. I immediately knew I would have to get more of these. It is a fairly complex smoke with a great aroma. Not overwhelmingly heavy but on the medium to full side. I picked up a lot of sweet spices and notes of leather, and one particular hint of a spice that I couldn't put my finger on. Knowing that these are made by Oliva, I figured they would be great smokes, and I was not disappointed. This is a fingernail burner guys. I found another stick last year made by Oliva completely by accident that turned out to be a true winner as well (Inferno). Given that it has no Oliva markings on it, I was hesitant. These are true sleepers of cigars. Pair with a nice sipping whiskey and you will be in heaven. Just bought another 5 pack and I'm waiting for them to arrive. Happy ashing!
Not a big fan of Dominicans, but this one is really good. Draw is a little loose and burn needed 1 correction. Flavor is very good for something in this price range. Sweet aftertaste. Hated to put it down, but it was getting cold in the garage. I will definitely buy more robustos.
