The next generation.

Saint Luis Rey is one of the few brands that continues to stand the test of time (it's a scientific fact). For over 70 years, it has firmly stood as one of the most recognizable cigar brands in the world. Now, it gets a taste of some different medicine, modernity. But unlike your Grandma who thinks she's hip because she finally bought a smart phone, Gen2 feels right.

Boasting an all new formula from the blend to the packaging, the cigar all starts with the wrapper - an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf harvested from the plant's upper most priming. Packed with nutrients, and boasting a lovely oily sheen, this toothy leaf conceals a proprietary blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan long-fillers aged for three, patient years. This results in a profile that is best described as complex. Up front you're greeted with bold notes of leather and dried fruit. As the burn progresses, touches of earth, caramel, and chocolate also enter the fray. It's good, real good. And I might not know the difference between a rabbit and a hare, but I know fans of Saint Luis Rey will be eating this one up.

Nice smoke but it came apart. The construction was bad. The taste was okay.

I have to say, I just had a Robusto and it was pretty damn good. It was not the best cigar in the world, but for the price I didnt go wrong. It had a very good flavor and aroma. It started to get harsh with 1 inch left which is to be expected. I would definitely buy another.
Wow! They don't lack on size. Great tasting cigar.

I got a Toro as a freebie from the local b&m. Stuck it in the tuppador for a year or two (lost track). Pulled it out today, having never had a SLR, I was very curious. Excellent construction, seemless wrapper with very small veins, firm, beauty of a stick! Beheaded it, fired it up and was pleasantly surprised what turned out to be nearly two hours of enjoyment. Solid medium body, yet very flavorful, very smooth smoking. Great stick.

Bought one of these from a local shop, it's not bad. It's more on the medium mild side as another reviewer said. I wouldn't go so far as to call them a disappointment though. I enjoyed smoking this cigar, i'd give it a 6.6/10 overall. While that rating might seem a tad bit low, I am extremely demanding and hard to please when it comes to reviewing cigars. The overall construction and draw are on point, very firm cigar, you can tell they didn't skimp on how much they roll into each one. Earthy, aged tobacco flavor, very natural. Subtle hints of woody notes but on the faint side. This cigar would be good for a once-in-a-while cigar provided you have the budget, but definitely not for special occasions.
