Navigating to the present

Saint Luis Rey (SLR for short) is an old Cuban brand that’s been around the block. Over the years, the brand has bounced around, but now being made in Honduras, SLR has some exciting new life. The Carenas blend pays tribute to the Port of Havana, Cuba, where many tobacco carrying ships went for repairs. This exciting blend aims to honor the past while representing a new-age style of cigars, featuring a flavorful blend of Honduran tobaccos. 

Out of the box, you’re greeted with a leathery Nicaraguan wrapper that conceals all-Honduran tobaccos underneath. It creates an easy to enjoy medium-bodied cigar that washes the palate with an array with earthy flavors. Can't understand the poor ratings on this cigar. For one I received a great deal from CI and secondly, SLR are generally full throttle as for strength. Found this cigar at medium with a woody, spicy, and sweet taste. Very happy with my purchase.

Generally this brand is strong and kicks my butt. Don't get me wrong I'm like most cigar smokers and like a good butt kicking cigar from time to time. This Carenas 6x60 was medium at its peak. Can't put my finger on the flavors but they were creamy and good. Cigar stayed lit and had a great burn line. The price on Cigarfu was the icing on the cake. Wish I had space in my cavernous humidor I would've purchased a second box.
