Anniversaries - not just something your wife nags you about.
Romeo y Julieta Aniversario was crafted to cap off Romeo y Julieta's 130 years in the cigar business. And that ain't nothin' to shake a stick at, that's a hell of a long time. So when it came time to create the Aniversario, they made sure all their ducks were in a row. It all starts with an extensively fermented Ecuador Sumatra wrapper. This super-smooth leaf houses a long-filler core of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian tobaccos before being hugged by a Connecticut Broadleaf binder. This complex array of tobaccos dishes out a similarly complex flavor profile. Slightly spicy and fairly assertive, the strength remains medium-bodied as hints of roasted nuts, cedar, leather, and a touch of earth are presented within a toasty foundation.
Romeo y Julieta Aniversario earned a well-deserved 92-rating, noting: "It’s quite a cigar, rich and dark bronze with cedar, earth, licorice and nuts on the palate."
This is a great cigar with great flavor. It is beautifully constructed and robust in taste. Very smooth!
The corona was great. The first third burned very quickly however. Entire smoke time was 45 minutes tops. Initial toasting really had the palate working with some good tobacco flavor. Pepper taste in back of mouth and would dance between draws from front to back, excellent unique start. Good easy draw. The ash never amounted to much. Pepper consistency throughout the first and second thirds. Meaty and licorice flavor introduced slightly in the second third, and continued throughout. No real ash accumulation or firmness and a quick smoke time were my only hangups with the cigar. Overall, an impressive smoke, 4/5 stogies.
