Rocky Patel Dark Dominican Sale

Let me assure you, this Dark story has a happy ending.

At this point in his career, you might think Rocky’s done it all, but take a closer glance and you’ll notice a few small blemishes. For instance, he’s never produced a Dominican-made cigar before! Shocking, no? Well, recently Mr. Patel visited the Dominican and he must have liked what he found, since he returned with a tasty new handmade. Rocky has worked with these factories before, but always the Honduras one. They make great cigars, but the Dominican factory is really the flagship one, and this is Rocky’s first venture with the main operation.

Maybe you’re familiar with this factory's work — in addition to making the uber-popular Cohiba line, General Cigars and Rocky have worked together on the 90+ rated Rocky Patel Vintage line in the past. Dark Dominican comes from a heralded past to say the least, and once you get one of these weighty Dominican puros in your hand you’ll be more than impressed. Medium-bodied, Dark Dominican delivers leather, nuts, and a slightly sweet cedar, crafting a Dominican selection you can’t miss.

Great news - Rocky Patel Dark Dominican earned an esteemed 91-rating, noting, "Wearing a dark, near oscuro wrapper, this cigar exhibits a rich, earthy character and caramel sweentness with underlying toastiness. The finish hints of crème brûlée."

This was my first time trying these Dark Dominican by RP, but I was pleasantly rewarded with a great cigar as usual. Not the best, but truly an enjoyable blend.

Bought the Corona, very good. Strong/full bodied but never bitter. Great toasted oak/cedar taste. Nice consistent burn.

Smooth
Quite mellow for my taste. Half of the cigars were hard as wood no kidden could have played drums with them. I have to gently squeeze them up an down to loosen them up. Otherwise the cigars are ok. Not much depth in flavor one dimensional. They do have a pleasant smell while smoking them.

Dark & Dominican
These stogies are true to their name: dark and Dominican. A distinct chocolate aroma emanates from the unlit sticks. Light one up and damp pine bark flavors fill a rich, dense smoke. These are characteristically Dominican cigars. Peppery on the front, with bitter chocolate on the finish. These puppies have taken a run for my go-to stick. Full-bodied, densely spiced; if you’re looking for a no-nonsense Dominican, give these a try.
