Rocky Patel Dark Dominican

Let me assure you, this Dark story has a happy ending.

At this point in his career, you might think Rocky’s done it all, but take a closer glance and you’ll notice a few small blemishes. For instance, he’s never produced a Dominican-made cigar before! Shocking, no? Well, recently Mr. Patel visited the Dominican and he must have liked what he found, since he returned with a tasty new handmade. Rocky has worked with these factories before, but always the Honduras one. They make great cigars, but the Dominican factory is really the flagship one, and this is Rocky’s first venture with the main operation.

Maybe you’re familiar with this factory's work — in addition to making the uber-popular Cohiba line, General Cigars and Rocky have worked together on the 90+ rated Rocky Patel Vintage line in the past. Dark Dominican comes from a heralded past to say the least, and once you get one of these weighty Dominican puros in your hand you’ll be more than impressed. Medium-bodied, Dark Dominican delivers leather, nuts, and a slightly sweet cedar, crafting a Dominican selection you can’t miss.

Great news - Rocky Patel Dark Dominican earned an esteemed 91-rating, noting, "Wearing a dark, near oscuro wrapper, this cigar exhibits a rich, earthy character and caramel sweentness with underlying toastiness. The finish hints of crème brûlée."

Good smoke. Burns well, draws well, and lasts quite a while for a smaller stick.

Very Smooth enjoyable smokes
This was my first time trying these Dark Dominican by RP, but I was pleasantly rewarded with a great cigar as usual. Not the best, but truly an enjoyable blend.

New #1
Up until recently, the Decade was my favorite RP cigar. Then along came the Dark Dominican and all that changed. It looks a little "rustic" compared to some of Rocky's other cigars, but the construction is excellent. Best tasting of the entire RP line.

Great cigar for the money
A real winner here. Even my friend who only smokes Cuban cigars, said that it was a "real winner".

Awesome Sticks
I have no idea how CI priced these cigars so low. These are very smooth, burn great, and maintain there flavor throughout the smoke. Awesome for the patio or the golf course.

Another “Big Time” hit by Rocky. Nice full flavor from beginning to the end. I mean the end, I smoked them all the way to the very end.

Great cigar at a great price

Smooth
Quite mellow for my taste. Half of the cigars were hard as wood no kidden could have played drums with them. I have to gently squeeze them up an down to loosen them up. Otherwise the cigars are ok. Not much depth in flavor one dimensional. They do have a pleasant smell while smoking them.

Good and dark
This is a tasty smoke for long sittings. Complex, but not too busy. A little sharp at points, which is solved with a tasty beverage.

Dark & Dominican
These stogies are true to their name: dark and Dominican. A distinct chocolate aroma emanates from the unlit sticks. Light one up and damp pine bark flavors fill a rich, dense smoke. These are characteristically Dominican cigars. Peppery on the front, with bitter chocolate on the finish. These puppies have taken a run for my go-to stick. Full-bodied, densely spiced; if you’re looking for a no-nonsense Dominican, give these a try.

Decent knock around stick.
No real issues but won’t wow you either. It’s very plain and basic the entire time. Some coffee and a minor sweetness but that’s really about all. The burn is fine and consistent with no issues. I’d recommend this for golf or yard work at the most.

Authentic CUBAN Essence!
All of the Rocky Patel Dark Dominican are excellent! I can't praise them enough, especially because they are the closest cigars to the real Cubans I used to obtain from Skip Shapiro over in Melrose Park, Illinois. Skip's in-laws in Cuba have been growing and rolling fine stogies for over 200 years. I lost contact with Skip around 2009, I suspect he passed away, but you can enjoy one of the BEST cigars on earth -- the Rocky Patel Dark Dominican. Hurry!

Loved it...
Tastes just like a vintage 2003, but that's a good thing. Great cigar.

Rocky Patel Dark Dominican
I loved this cigar for its smooth and creamy style and the even burn

May be dark but it's weak.
Smoking one right now and getting almost nothing in the way of flavor. Lower band is put on haphazardly, ash is weak and falls off early, and it has a canoe forming on one side. I'm a Rocky Patel fan but I probably won't get this again.

Nice Smoke
The Dark Dominican RP is very bold flavored; but not over powering. The burn is always even and slow. Nice Job RP
